Carole, I don't know what variety that banana is.
Got it from a church sister who was getting rid of her poolside bananas. This is doing good for me so far.
I had purchased a Musa Rojo and it died one bad winter.
**Sweet Interruptions** Room 264
Love all the pictures!!! Keep em coming!
I'm very pleased with the 'Phantom' petunia. It has been so drought and heat tolerant and just keeps on keeping on. I'm going to make one of those flower towers next year, I think, and use 'Phantom' in that.
I can't grow all of the Hedys here ... just the hardy gingers that are good for zone 7. I have 'Daniel Weeks' and 'Anne S. Bishop'. So far, so good.
I usually mulch over my banana but I didn't last winter. Fortunately, it was a warm winter.
Jaye, I get test results back in 2 weeks.
Good morning sistahs~
Hope it's the best ever, LK!
You got me curious on flower tower,. Carole. Do you stack up different size pots for one, or one of this http://ext.homedepot.com/community/blog/how-to-make-a-flower-tower-vertical-garden/
I do have Daniel Weeks and Anne Bishop. I also have Pink V which grows abundantly as the Peach. I'm quite disappointed with Tai Empress, it's very slow growing and I might have to move them.
Have lots of the common white ones too. When time to unearth some come next spring, would you like some?
My favorite is the Peach. Sulphur butterflies love the blooms.
I think the seller sent me the wrong ginger when I ordered "Kahili", it's more like "Assam Orange". If that's so, it's a lucky break as I prefer the intense orange color.
Most of the gingers I brought with me from Louisiana. Lost all the spiral gingers and the hidden gingers when we experienced a freaky winter. Snow is not an annual thing here, but that year, we had 4", and that's when the Musa died.
Will leave you ladies with beignets and coffee. Today it's supposed to be 88*. Be back in a while. Have a lovely Thursday.
Morning Jaye. Thanks for breakfast.
Back from the grocery. Yes, something on the order of that flower tower, Jaye.
I'd love some white gingers when the time comes. The two gingers I have actually came from over your way - Plant Delights. I haven't had them long enough to flower but looking forward to those fragrant blooms.
I'll send you some whites and the Peach too Carole.
The ones I brought from La., were purchhased at Stokes. Took some 3 years to bloom and when I moved here.. had to wait for 3 years too!! But worth the wait.
Will mark you down for the whites and the Peach as well.
Hedychiums are the most tolerant for our zone, compared to other gingers.
It's the Muslim New Year. Month long fast is over. My Singapore family's having a grand celebration there with new clothes, good food and the visits to relatives.
If I'm there, it would be non stop visit for a week and maybe gain 50 pounds.
Kids look forward to monetary gifts.
Here's a video that my niece posted on my FB page. Nieces and nephews and 2 second cousins wishing "Selamat Hari Raya"
Aren't they cute?
https://www.facebook.com/#!/photo.php?v=10151769259519593&set=vb.524239592&type=2&theater
Jaye. That link says it is not available.
Urrrghhh... you can view that on my FB page if anyone's interested.
Just add "Jaye Blanchard" !!
Sorry LK. But do take a peep.
Jaye, I don't see any video?
Jaye, do you leave your brugs out all winter? I have two that I acquired this year; unknown peach and Dr. Seuss. They were both cuttings, so this is their first year. I had heard that they preferred cool feet in the afternoons, so I have them on the South side of the house but next to a porch that shades them after about 3:00. Should I move them into full sun?
As for my hedychiums, I have Tai Monarch and Elizabeth. They came to me in a 3 quart pot, very well established. Their growth this year has been disappointing. I was worried about burning them, but I think I need to move them into more light. They are on the East side of my house.
Sorry sistahs. The video is only available for those on the sender's friends list :(
I asked my niece to upload it to Youtube. Anyway, I promise to post pictures of them, once I get them.
Lanakila, they need some afternoon shade. The hardy single brugs like Dr. Seus, and Jean Pasko can survive outdoors provided you give more than adequate mulching.
I lost these too.. darn unexpected snow.
Someone told me long ago, hedychiums tend to do these. .. First year eat.. Second year, sleep and Third year.. reap the blooms!!. So far so true, even for the ones I got off eBay. Flood those gingers once in a while.
Yes they love the sun!
Need to add Elizabeth, but I need space for more daylilies!!! DL won!

Jaye, those are beautiful!
The blossoms' scent is divine, LK. I am glad that these gingers can be grown here.
On a cool day, when I can raise the front room wndows, the whole living room will be perfumed! Wish I can capture the scent in a bottle.
Pegi, hope Darwin does good for his chemo.
Off to bed. See you all in the a.m.
Marion, if you're lurking. Hugs and prayers sent your way, dear.

Morning everyone! Time to rise and shine! Coffee is ready!
Sue, good to see you gal. Winding down with a bottle of wine should be a must for you and have some dark chocolates too.
Did your kids win any ribbons? How about you, Sue?
Lanakila, I'll send the fabric out next week.
I've been up since early.. back and forth with family on FB. One just posted a new vid. hope you're able to see it LK. I think that one isn't set for only certain friends as I managed to post it on Kel's wall. Not the other one.
This is my youngest sister's family picture. Shila. DH.. Wawan, girls Dafinah and Nurin. They tend to be monochromatic for New Year's clothings!! One year it's all black.. of course I had to ask who died!! Lol!
Sorry Jaye, I still can't see any video's, on your page or Kels?
Love the family photo!
Good looking family. And they are wearing one of favorite colors. :)
Wawan's fulll name is Harrizwan, named after my ex Harris. But he called himself Riz Wayne, as he's born on the 4th of July.
Loves hip hop and rap, plays the piano well and love anything American.
fair is over.
Jaye you know me to well LOL i got my bottle of wine but i opted for cheese cake with it.
great family photo of your family. love the colors
oh my so much going on in the world. TN flooding. Ca girls missing. Ca fires wow have not watched tv in 8 days ! ack.
well i m tired and on my second glass of wine.
cheers to you all
Sue, I saw your post on Facebook for all the ribbons you got in the fair! Nice job!
I didn't take all the meds for my UI because they made me so sick. I had 3 left when I called and left message for doctor. I really couldn't function with upset tummy all the time and running to bathroom thinking I had to throw up. He said since I had taken 7 doses that should have taken care of the problem. I feel so muich better now that I don't have to take sulfa drugs. DH is doing well with the chemo, his PSA is down to 16 and he even went out in his shed to do a little work. Today he took more naps and hoping tomorrow he'll feel better. He wants to go fishing again with his buddy, hoping no more black eyes.
Prayers for Marion and family with the loss of her mom.
Hi everyone - sorry I haven't been on for awhile.
however - I got a Job!!
I start on Aug 26th - Customer service rep in a Compliance company.
I can't tell you a heck of a lot more, but when I get trained, I will tell you more :-)
Wow.. got to check that out LK. Thanks! I didn't play on FB last night as Kel took over the pc. He grew very tired of the small screen on his Android.
That's awesome news on Darwin, Pegi. Yep.. no more accidents please Darwin!
Touch wood, but I haven't had UTI for years now. At one time, it was chronic and I was on Bactrim.
Drank lots of cranberry juice too, with alka seltzer to help with the pain.
I think I've been drinking more and taking a high dose of Vit. C, for the past 12 years, maybe that's why I've managed to avoid UTIs.
Congrats Susan. Looking forward to reading your new job duties.
Good morning all.
One of those mornings waking up to a stiff neck and having to grab some Tylenol! Checked on my wine cooler a few minutes ago, and discovered that it has stopped working sometime last night! Usually, I'll have some Cabernet for my b'day but decided to skip it till tonight.
I was looking forward to a great bottle of 1997 tonight...instead.. it might be vinegar! Oh well, vintage vinegar that is.
No, I'm not a wine snoot, but do indulge in Cabernets now and then. Had purchased a few bottles of Kendall Jackson and Turning Leaf 15 years ago, and didn't start to uncork till it's 10 years old.
Today according to FA:
August 2013
10th-11th Good Days For Planting Aboveground Crops. Excellent For Sowing Grains, Winter Wheat, Oats, And Rye. Plant Flowers.
So... off to plant more flowers!
Have a better day than me, sistahs!
i'm allergic to sulfa. spent yesterday at brookwood medical center having tests. the nerve test is the worse. I wanted ti take that needle, charge it then stick it up his ass. bone scan test was 3 hours from time of injection to time of scan. never again
today is fat dr. day
Oh dear, Kathy, that sounds like a beast.
I'm a Cabernet fan as well.
It's storming here and just poured down a bunch. Now it's sprinkling. All three cats are outside so that means wet cats when they decide to come back in. :/
I am receiving a box of plants and seeds from a swapper today and I'm anxious to see what's in it. Oh fun! :)
Ya'll have a good day. I wish rain for those who are in drought and no rain for those who are flooding (like parts of Nashville did yesterday).
Susan that is great news. We have been saying prayers for you.
Jaye put the wine in the fridge to cool.
Pegi glad to hear the good report for Darwin. We have been praying for him too. Hope your feeling better soon.
Kathy I have had those nerve test and they are not fun. Take it easy for a few days. Did you get your ac fixed?
Sorry to read that sistah Kathy. You're on the road to getting better health!
Carole, I was surprised there were hardly any sediments when I decanter one even after 15 years!! Think I'll look for more today. but of course this decade. Can't afford the vintage!!
Don't you just love opening up packages from a swap. If your DH is anything like mine, he'd be helping you!
There is one strange cat here that didn't mind the rains, while the others refused to get wet.
I've transferred all the bottles to another fridge, LK. That fridge, we can set the temp at 50.
Will let you know tonight if it had turned to vinegar. Hope not. Just googled the price and it's now in the hundreds :(
Enjoy the vintage wine Jaye.
That's interesting, Jaye. Having lived in CA for decades, I'm a bit partial to CA Cabernets and other varietals from there so I'm familiar with Turning Leaf - which I've had - and Kendall Jackson Winery - which I haven't had.
It's nice to hear that people are finding a job after the long recession. I don't know if that recession holds true for Canada. Congrats on the new job, Susan. I know you are relieved.
Carole, in the 80s, when my French BIL came down, he brought along with him bottles of French Bordeaux. I think at that time, Ca. Cabernets were trying to prove itself.
When he returned in the 90s, he didn't touch the bottles he brought but drank only the Napas!! Last time my sister was here, he'd asked whether she'd bring home some Ca. Cabernets.
LK, to drink just a glass, I'd be increasing my insulin!! Maybe God's trying to tell me something if it does turn to vinegar!!
This is my first cousin, Andriani with her princesses.
Beautiful family Jaye!
Well, this curly headed poo poo has straight hair again. I went to wal mart and bought some hair straightener, and it worked. No major damage to my hair, and I am so happy! Todd said it he is glad to get rid of the cranky old lady that has been here for a week!
BEAUTIFUL girls!
Jaye, did you say today is your birthday? Did I not read that???? OK, if it is, Happy Birthday, but seems like that passed just a little while ago....cause Kel was such a good boy that day! ^_^
Hope Marion is doing okay.
Sissy.....straighten up!!!!!
We can't pick the sweet 100 tomatoes fast enough. The plants have gone crazy and the volunteer morning glories that came up have twisted themselves around a rose bush. Guess I'll wait till fall to clean up that mess, but the baby tear under the tomato plants is happy. Prunning back my dusty miller, but in full sun I had to give up and come in for a break.
Beautiful family, Jaye. You must miss all of them.
ac is fixed, I am sore from the nerve test, and I lost 5 pounds. sara is acting up, so she is stuck in the house all day.
daughter called, she can't legally register the car up there, cuz she needs it signed over to her and notorized. what a pitty
