lol, Kathy.

It's dark and cloudy here so I hope it gives us a good rain. I don't want to have to hand-water. It's around this time every year that I think I'll give up gardening. But I never seem to.

I don't remember my first hair cut. I'm too old, I guess.

Hope everyone has a good weekend.

Morning everyone! Cindy, sorry Dougs Mom dug up all your glads! What did she do that for?
Sue/Taynors, wishing you a big Happy Birthday today!
Hope your not working too hard!

Happy Birthday, Sue. Hope you have a lovely day! ^_^

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

She thinks she's helping me out by digging up my plants. I told her I would do it in the fall when it was time. She is the kind of person when she wants something done it's to be done NOW!!! Also she doesn't like being bothered with flowers, she has fake one where I had all of mine. You should see the yard it is a horrible mess. Of course it wasn't looking real good when we left but that is because I had quit planting etc because I knew we would have to leave that "dump".

Well now I have a bigger and better place for my flowers. I just figured out where I'm going to plant thme so I'm out the door and into the garden ^_^

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

Happy Birthday Sue, have a great day!

Oh, what I would give for some curly hair. LOL I keep mine short and a wash and wear style (has to be permed). I let my gf have her hairdresser cut mine short, she was paying, and straight as a pin. I need a little curl or wave so I don't look like drowned rat. DH says I look like a prison guard, always so full of compliments.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Happy Birthday Sue. Hope it is a great one!!!

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

happy birthday sue.
cville_gardener, any time you want to slit that canna I;m all for it

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Happy Birthday Sue! May your wine glass be full and the kids and Tim be your servants for the day :D

Cindy, everything happens for a reason. Aren't you glad you had to move out of that house and you're in a much better place and one day, Lord willing, you and Doug will own your own home.

Carole....... put on a "Gone With The Wind" Scarlett O'Hara charm and you might have the keys to your BIL's in Vegas. Wouldn't that be nice?

Crissy.. I see that Joel has a pic of a horse grazing.. is that his? So, your weekend includes horse riding? Gal, from a love of engine horsepower, you're now on to a real life galloping horse!

Oh Pegi!! Kel's the same way. He's always giving underhanded compliments!!
I told him that he needs to exercise his ascerbic tongue on his mother, and that would stop him for a while!! Lol!!

There are more pink than that in my garden, Cookie!!

Hey Barb! Bet, you two will be glad when all the packing's over!

My first hair cut? I remember my first barber!! Yep. There's this travelling Indian barber that goes from village to village and he cuts girls' hair too.
Our family and him became friends and when we moved to another town, he kinda set up business in the town too. From Monday to Saturday, without fail, for lunch, he'd leave his working valise in our house and take off for the roadside eatery.
Interesting story here. He left his family in India to eke out a living in Singapore. Sent 3/4s of his pay home so his daughters will have substantial dowries. Back in India, the grooms are bought. That's why there are so many cases of burning or dead brides when the dowries weren't met. The lucky ones became MILs slaves.
It was a sad day for us when he said his goodbyes and went home after 15 years away from family.

As for my first perm?? Now that's a night mare!!!! I always had natural curls.
A male hairdresser in Lafayette, Louisiana convinced me that I need 'body' for that "Farrah Fawcett" look. Never had a perm and I agreed to his suggestion.
Well sistahs, after the chemicals applied.. fell asleep in my chair.. I woke up to the ringing of a timer that went off like forever!
He had burnt my hair.. as after a few days.. chunks fell off.. No more perms since then!

So LK, yours will at least settle some but unlikely to suffer the same fate as mine!!

Was hand weeding for a few hours just now but took lots of breaks in between. Am noticing the oak leaves started to fall. We might get an early fall!!

I hope so Jaye! I went to have her fix my hair, but after she looked at it, she told me the chemicals would only make it worse. She can't trim it, as it is already short, so I came home and put conditioner on it for an hour, and she told me to do this daily, to try and fix the frizzy ends. And not to blow dry it, so i just wash it, and let it dry naturally! I told Todd he is doing all the shopping for awhile, as I was not going out in public looking like this! Wish there was a wig shop close, I would go buy me a new doo!!!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Psssttt.. don't let Todd hold you upside down and try to mop the floor with your new do!! Sorrrryyyyy.. I can't resist it!!
Put on a scarf sistah! Todd will just buy the wrong stuffs!!

Marion posted this on FB:
It has been a rough 2 days. Mom (Mattie Krazit) has not been responsive nor able to eat, drink or take any meds since early Friday morning. She is weaker today but did open her eyes in response to her sister.. unable to speak very much as she is just to weak and frail. Sue and I are asking all our family and friends for prayers during this time.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Thanks for posting that here Jaye! Sending lots of prayers!

Clarksville, TN(Zone 7a)

Same here. It's especially tough when it's your mother. :(...

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

LK get some serum. Because I color my hair and the kind I use causes my hair to frizz when I get perms. So after every shampoo I put serum in it. This bottle I have has lasted well over a year. A little bit goes a long ways, but it really help calm the frizzies. Plus you should try a hot oil treatment, I don't think conditioner will work as fast.

The serum (don't know if that's how it spelt) I have is Redken was $17 but well worth every drop, lol.

Clarksville, TN(Zone 7a)

Kathy, I'll remember you and that canna when it's time to dig. :)

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Thanks Cindy. I will look for some of it.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Jaye, thanks for bringing the message over here. My connection to anything is always "ifish" down here and FB is the easiest way to get the message to all our family......about 50 of them..cousins, nieces, nephews and etc.

I hope I don't crash before finishing this message. Sue and I know Mom has rallied before but this time it really is different. Mom is resting comfortable, thanks be for that, does blink eyes when ask to at times. Others times she just doesn't respond. I am hoping and praying the night staff watches as they say they will..we would very unhappy if she sinks further and no one calls. That is a concern with the weekend staff!!!

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Keeping you all in my prayers Marion.....Barb

Marion prayers for your mom and family.

Jaye that's a neat Indian story there. LOL No, Joel and I are renting a room in a 2bd apartment with his friend until I buy my house. We were driving around and saw that so he took a picture and posted it on his fb wall.

Cindy put the glads back in the ground. They won't do anything until next year but they should be fine. I dug mine up by accident May 2012 and they grew this spring.

Oh Oh, I forgot what else I was going to say. I'm tired, think I'm gonna grab a book on Kindle and relax. Have a good night/weekend everyone!

Clarksville, TN(Zone 7a)

Thinking of Marion and her mom.

Jaye, I'm not sure I can be charming. lol. Heat makes me cranky, even the dry heat of Las Vegas. Or maybe I just use that as an excuse. :-D

Have a blessed Sunday, all.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Good Sunday morning sistahs!
Gosh Carole, you're really an early bird! Hope you get the proper amt. of sleep. Lack of sleep makes one cranky too!

Crissy gal.. I wish you nothing but happiness with your new love. After what you've been through, you truly deserve a good man.

Marion, FB is the perfect place to post such an important notice. In the past you'd have to call up quite a few and hope they'd in turn relay the news.
Kel and I have you and your family in our thoughts.

Have to go on a road trip today, so you won't be seeing me till later this evening.
I wish you all a very relaxing Sunday.

I'm probably just crankier in my old age. ;) I'm a cat herder and they sometimes get me up early. I fell asleep at 8 p.m. last night so I'm good. 6-8 hours. Not always the case, but I generally get enough sleep. Generally. :)

Clarksville, TN(Zone 7a)

Guess I should say that I'm not that cranky lest people think I'm an old grouch. ^_^

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

I can't seem to fall asleep right away. Sometimes the tv or a book failed and I'll be reaching for Benadryl! I've seen myself at 3 a.m grooming the cats!
As long as you're not suffering from sleep deprivation.. yep.. you can blame the cats, Carole!! Lol!!

It's a wonder how Kel can fall asleep so quick! Oh wait.. I'm the one with all the worries!
Sleeping beauty's up... so see you all later.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone! Jaye have a safe road trip, hope there is a quilt shop stop on the way?

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Good afternoon. Sitting with mom but very little change other than weaker. We were able to get her to sip a couple of spoons of ginger ale.....mostly for her dry mouth.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

I'm back.. had to rush home so trip was cut short. Won't go into the whys, but I thank God that Kel made sure he followed the speed limit.
Needless to say, no Hobby Lobby nor Joann's excursions for me LK.
But... the good thing is.. I did enough damage to HIS budget including next month's. Lol!! I know, this is just a temporary salve to my anger, but it feels good right now!! I'll be paying for this rebellion later!

Marion, I hope your mum have the service of the best night attendants.
Besides the usual cajoling of trying to make her eat, I can imagine you and Sue bringing up stories of long ago, a joke now and then, and waiting for the smiles to appear or at least some recognition.
May she be pain free...

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Thanks for the update Marion. Will keep you all in our prayers.

Jaye. Sorry to hear your trip got cut short.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

I'll survive this disappointment. There will always be another . Thanks for the comfort, LK..

Was trying to find a winter project that don't require the sewing machine and look at this.
I had purchased an edible birdhouse years ago.. (pre 29 cats)...birds love it!
Might not be wise for me to entice the cats with that now.. but... they'd make unique Christmas gifts.
http://www.redhousegarden.com/2012/01/how-to-make-edible-birdhouse.html

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Jaye, that looks like a lot of fun. I will save that for a future project.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

LK, don't you have enough projects? Lol!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

The project list keeps growing...

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

I'm trying to figure out a patchwork Christmas ball. Once I got it, I'll send you a pic LK.

In the meantime..
Marion's update via her sister:

Suzanne Gilleo
Another rough day for Mom; could not speak at all even though she tried several times and would get agitated by not being able to communicate. The rest of the day she mainly slept. Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers.

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

srnding prayers to maid m. and her family

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Prayers are being sent Maid M. I am so sorry she is going through this.

Jaye I am so sorry your trip got axed! That is flat out annoying!

Jaye and all, Joel is a wonderful man, he pulled me completely out of that stupid bar scene and I didn't know how miserable I was. I quit going when I left the house, but Joel said NO MORE BARS, they are dirty, smokey, and unnecessary! We are dead broke but we came to Branson! LOL OOPS!!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Glad to hear you have a nice man Crissy!

Jaye, are these what your working on?

Picture of my mini plumaria, one flower opening and another starting to open.

Prayers for Marion and mom, we used a dry and erase board to communicate with my mom, her hearing was bad. That is how she found I spelled a word wrong. Said she sure was glad she sent me to school. lol
