Doing well today Betty, waiting to hear from the physiotherapist with regards to my sleeping on my tummy .. have been sleeping on my back since July 22 and, last night I just couldn't bear it anymore, so, I carefully turned onto my tummy and BOOM went into a deep comfortable sleep !! Right hip was unaffected.

The pics of the Route 66 trip (and cornfield story) are priceless .. here's to MORE great memories being made !!

Planning on going outside again today .. would love to go for a ride, but, haven't been in the SUV since I came home, Gord's off gunning today with his cronies LoL, think I want him here if I'm getting into the vehicle.

Marilynne, try sleeping with a body pillow? Since I had my back surgery, that body pillow has been my best friend at night! I can't sleep on my back or tummy, so when I go to bed, I sleep on one side or the other with my legs drawn up a bit, and wrapped around the pillow. It sure helps a lot!

LindaKay we were gabbing about mileage last night, we keyed in Beaumont Texas and it's only a 4 hr. drive, we joked that if we don't sleep one night we could make it to Texas border..for what you ask???? just to say we did lol

you never know what mischief these gals can get into..I'll have to keep them on the straight and narrow just like I did with Debbie and Crissy!! thank goodness for little old me..

Linda gave me her $$$ which includes all our entertainment, gas/hotels etc.

Yep, but Linda works for the courts, one Judge in particular and has to be there, had an alternate to replace her at 12:30 coming in from another town so just not doable..actually she was to have worked till 4:30 got it changed to 2:30 and now 12:30 so that would be asking too much..we're ok, hopefully we'll be at Sarnia border a tad before 4pm which I hope there won't be many crossing at that time..now when they see the amount of luggage on back suitcase rack they may want to see what we've got..heaven help them if they try to take the mushrooms lol

Hi LK. Thanks, doing better, some days more so than others. The heat is causing some problems, but I think the older we get the more the temperatures get to us.

I was getting a bit concerned about Dianne, as I had not seen her here in a while. She sent me a lovely card and I wanted to tell her Thanks for the kind thoughts.

Yesterday I got an email from a GM of a company a friend of mine's husband owns. My friend had asked me to send my resume to her and I did... back in March. Anyway, he asked me to come in today at 11 for an interview and it went very well. Paying $18k less per year than I used to get, but.....it's a job. He has other interviews to do, but will let me know on Friday the 9th if I have the job. Guess knowing the boss' wife would help? We worked together for years, and stayed friends......

I heard that this morning LK...scary times....said embassy closures throughout the middle east/central Asia.

Quick post, tired tonight

We are 60 miles this side of Chicago..delayed for more than an hour just south of Barrie, part of main highway closed since yesterday re sink hole then add in an accident..bumper to number.

Only about a 10 minute wait at the border.

Before we set out today an incident happened that had us laughing for hours...crazy Linda! Will tell you about it when I can stay awake to type..

We're getting a little rain this morning. They had promised more, so I didn't water last night. Might still have to do that today. When I did my walk around, the rain gauge looked to have about a 1/16 of an inch....why bother? ;o)

TODAY!!!!!!! Today, Colt and Angele have an ultrasound to learn the sex of the baby. They sent us a link to watch the ultrasound LIVE! so, we'll learn at the same time they do! Technology these days! Wow! I'm not choosing one sex over the other! I'm gonna love it no matter what! YES!

The news re the Embassies is unsettling to say the least. Will it ever end ?!

WOO HOOO .. slept on my TUMMY last night, spoke with my physiotherapist for the thumbs UP to do so though .. it's not something that is okayed this early post op .. but, I was/am sleep deprived to the max, I find sleeping on my back to be pure torture .. LindaK I did try the body pillow and, it worked, a bit, but, tummy sleeping is my thing LoL
Anyway with the okay from the PT I was able to 'score' 8 CONTINUOUS hours of sleep .. feel like a million bux today.
Pretty darned cool here on the shores of Lake Superior .. just 60F at 1030am, might go up to 70F later in the day. Feels like fall.
Had a black Momma bear and her 2 cubs pass through the back 40 last evening .. she just took a couple of sniffs, smelled the dogs (and heard them), and kept on heading east ..

I best get some breakfast into me before the nurse comes ..

Another day of 'firsts' for me ...
Community nurse came around noon to change my dressing, looked at the incision and said 'OUT come those staples', so 18 'snip snips later', I was staple less, YAHOO !!! Didn't feel a thing. Once she changes the dressing again on Monday it will likely be left off and I can SHOWER whenever I want to!
Went for a walk down the driveway and back .. about 400' one way, took me a good 20 minutes, but I did it with so much encouragement from DH and Lorna, and, of course, THE DOGGIE cheering section ^_^
Kinda dodgey using the walker on the driveway as it isn't paved, so I had to kinda watch for loose rocks. At the end of the walk I attempted to get into the SUV, I did it, and Lorna and I headed for the city to get a smoothie.
Right now i am counting the minutes until I can go to bed .. overdid it, but, not too badly .. just so excited that ME is coming back ....

Am hoping Betty and crew are navigating St Louis with no problems, not for the faint of heart .. big city driving is not something I do well at all .. I'm better at being the navigator.

Hope everyone has had a nice day and is anticipating a good one tomorrow.

Just settled in for the night, fun day!

Went into Springfield Il... Visited Abraham Lincoln's resting place, Oak Cenetery..you sure have done him justice, his resting place is spectacular.

Then onward to St.Louis....

Debbie you would be proud of me, went up and actually enjoyed the Arck..630 ft high, yikes..you could virtually feel it swaying, didn't dare tell Linda.
Was funny, the pod sit 5 so a young girl came up with us..we were simging christmas carols just to pass the 4 minute ride up..what a fantastic view..

our way down, a man made the 5th..of course we all chatted, girls tol him where we are from, where we are headed.kept chatting as not to notice ride down, takes 3 minutes..he asked what hubbies were doing while we were away? The 3 girl answered, when it came to me I said he was resting, 'resting',

Linda said ' one heck of a rest, he's dead' man looked at us not knowing what to say. Lol

We decided to treat ourselves to a suite, put up our feet and relax..we all love the room and thought maybe we would just stay here..such a nice place.

Tomorrow we visit Cahokia Mounds,then Springfield Mo, caves only one that offers tram tour then off to Branson!

So far we are right on target re time and budget..

Because the girls are having problems doing all this walking, Rita and I walked the river walk..climbed a long staircase, wow am I out of shape..no sooner climbed it that a guy said we weren't as good as Stalone 'rocky' where he ran up the the same steps..

Today I start working at the Staples in Glenview, yep they had quite the fight over me, too funny!!Our Acct. Manager told me If she has any say, Ill be back. I met met new Manager and oh gosh, i already love him. His wife is taking my position in the Wheeling store! I picked her brains as much as i could before she left on Friday...LOL, I feel like a young college kids going off into the world and feel both excited and a little nervous, but Sunday is supposedly a quiet day, uh huh... They were in need of a supervisor today for closing so they asked me to come in for the last 3 hours...I figure it will be a great day to assess whats where and if the place is anything like the Wheeling store, is in need of some scrubbing and general organization.

Linda Kay and all, guess who spoke sign language to a customer!! He was thrilled and i was happy to awaken that skil as limited as it is...but I dug out the sign language book and looked up how to say some key phrases and numbers! ROFLOL all I could think was geesh, I can be quite the blabber mouth and now I can be blabber fingers too, giggle giggle!
Oh yay, supposedly i will have regular Monday -Friday 8-5 or 9-6 shifts...can't ask for anything better. Will have to work weekend at least once a month and same for evening, i can dig that!

Ohhh, it's already 2:15 got to scoot!

I have been caught up in being a domestic Diva (DO NOT LAUGH! LOL)

DH and I froze some broccoli and also about 20 summer squash! Some had gotten too ripe and was nothing but seeds....so Andy is going to take those to the farm for the critters.

We have the basement 3/4 cleaned out! Oh the trash man is not going to be happy! But the way people are stopping for metal and such...might not be much left.

WE are in Branson!!! We don't have much money but wanting to do the Dixie Stampede, Betty you and the ladies would love that, and The Titanic is supposed to be awesome.

Well Joel wants his scissors and I want to check out the indoor pool, hot tub, and sauna, so I'll catch up with y'all in a bit!
