Thunder, love the photo..proud dad of a beautiful little girl!
You got a lot accomplished..kudos to you.
Kathy, I'd let the 2nd reminder come, even if the fine doubles its got to be cheaper than your son taking a day off work. Nothing's easy is it..
Ahhhh Kathy, me thinks you need a scolding, for what, am sure you know what..
will post photo's of my pretties..you just know I will treat you with much the same and there will be no scolding there..you are too precious.
Lucky you "M", now isn't that interesting having a recycle program for such things.
maybe you can keep it and do some hypertufa projects in it and get the nice design if it's wicker. Know you wanted to try and now that you'll be fit come spring you'll have plenty of time.
got the pieces of the eagle done up, labtec photo here at work is the pitz then add that each piece added hasn't the stitching of colorful threads done with applique stitch it doesn't look that great but it will.
Lunch time, will go to fabric shop and pick up some fabric for point on point edging, was going to wait till I got home from my trip but I've still got to fill in 2 days and I'm NOT going to do more christmas quilt tops
Best/Worse/What did you learn today?chat with friend old/new
Hi everyone - wanted to share some good news we had today.........
First - yesterday was really bad - so depressed I cried most of the day.
Still no job for me, and no end to lay off for Bob.
Yesterday Bob spoke to Child Maintenance, telling them that a lawyer is looking into getting his child support payments to end, because his daughter is married, and his son is working (not sure if he still lives at home anyway). They rec'd a call from the lawyer, but can't do anything without a Court Oder, saying it's ended, or if the ex volunteers to end it.
Maintenance has been taking 2/3 of Bob's unemployment insurance payments and it's been really tough....
Anyway, today I looked at our bank account, and he Got The Full Amount! I'm giddy with relief, able to pay our bills......
It may take another couple of months to get the Court Order, but it's better than the years it's been so far. Glad my daughter, a para legal, works in a law firm and is expediting this, with the help of the lawyer she works for (he likes her as a great employee).
The relief in our household is tangible...
Now, I just have to get a job...... and Bob has to be called back to work - it's been over a month for him.
Wonderful news Susan. I'm so happy for you.
Oh Susan that is wonderful news, hope that's the end of that, sure would make life easier for you!
Now does this mean you'll be gabbing along with us and let us share in prayers when things get tough???
Difficult handling all the stress without loving friends around to hold your hand and remember all are concerned for each other, on-line family so stick around good or bad news.
Ann called and said she had little rest last night, neighbor gave her the 'what for' and it played on her mind all night , seeing as she was at my house with the girls all day she said she didn't feel up to 'tv bingo'..usually I don't play if she doesn't come but maybe Susan's good luck will rub off on me, wouldn't it be nice to win just before taking a holiday.
Talked to Darlene today, made plans to drive her to Florida our Thanksgiving which is early October then I will fly home..will fly back at Christmas to spend it with her (this year should be easier on us) then back in March/April to pick her up...border will be checking me out for sure with that many trips to USA lol
She went and bought herself a new vehicle, picks it up Thursday..imagine her other one had less than 35K, good buy for someone.
looking at the clock, guess I should clean my fabric pile up, close up for the night..going to try to be productive at something tonight, surely I won't waste another evening sleeping..staying up till 8pm for bingo might help
Betty, if you don't have CITY TV news on you might want to turn it on.Avery Haynes has a special on micro preemies born at Mt Sinai.Uplifting story! Moral of the story - never give up hope on these wee ones. Not sure all of you can access City Tv website but the story is posted on there too.
Oh thanks Dianne, will go look and also let Annknow.
How are you doing, missing your posts..Diesel behaving himself?
It's good to be back! Thanks, betty and taters! :)
JULIE it is gggrrrrrreat to see you back!!
Didn't win at t.v. Bingo, perhaps it's because Kyle dropped in with his girlfriend and I tried to be social..might have missed a number or two lol
Suzanne called, she is off to emerge to find out what is going on with her knee, what she might have done the weekend before last. Giving her the whatdore, said at best she needs to know what to do with it so it's better by Friday!
My other SIL Marg thinks she broke her foot so both ate going.
Julie, what's the weather like in your area like? Think I'll go google all the areas I will be in..think the weekend and beginning of the week calls for rain..drats
Did play with the eagle some more, now ill leave it be until i come back..
Think I'll call it a night, won't sleep but I could read a bit in the comfort of my bed.
Betty, that came out really nice!
Betty that eagle is gorgeous !
Hello To All !
Oh LK ! I've been very secretive because until I take the business loan out at the bank I don't want Witchy poo to find out !
And we all know how things get out there !
But yes - we are trying to start our own business and I've never been more scared and excited all at the same time. Our website will be updated very soon and I'll share with you all.....
Jordan Had to laugh at the ticket "The dog ate it" surely you should get out of that one ! LOL
Betty LOL don't let Jeff let the cat out of the bag... or the mushroom out of the bag.... I will be thrilled if Hubs meets you this time except you two will fall in love and leave me.... LOL
At Monday's meeting when "Questions" were asked for I raised my hand and asked about the seminar we were supposed to have 8/7 and told it would be taped so now I'm thinking I could try hard to find an appointment in NOLA that day (it's not easy though)
I'm sure you are thinking we will meet in NOLA, correct? If you know the day it will help... I will try to find an excuse to come that way.....
YAY SUSAN Finally some GREAT News.... jobs just around the corner think up !
I can't tell you all how much our crazy plans have lifted me from depression and I'm SO SO happy lately that things seem to be happening to me that will make everything work out..... I'm scared to say that because I've never had things fall into place like this before and worried that something might go terribly wrong.
Love to all.... Prayers for those hurting and hoping your gardens are flourishing...
Mary
Sending best wishes for your new business Mary!
Thank you LK ! It means so much to me coming from YOU my good friend.... (HUGS)
betty, just love that eagle. you did a great job
Oh, wow! I have a lot of catching up to do!
Betty, are you coming to the SOUTH? Hot, humid, and we've had rain almost every day in July. My veggie garden has drowned! I remember telling the kids that if we didn't get rain by the end of June, we'd be under a burn ban for the 4th of July! Be very careful what you wish for! LOL
Mary, wishing you the very best success with your new business! ♥
As for me, my "babies" are now 16, 15, 13! Journee is driving and looking for a job. Chase is getting his driving permit next week! Trais plays 8th grade football first string offense! They are all honor roll students. They have come a long way since the divorce. They are happy and well-adjusted, good kids. I couldn't be prouder of them!
Colt is still in the Army, married a beautiful angel on April 13, and I will be Nannie again in January! YAY! Liam is growing up so fast! Today is his 5th birthday! But he is still my "baby" and he definitely knows it!
Destiny, my oldest daughter, got married in May! I'm not supposed to tell.... but she is 5 weeks pregnant! We are praying hard for her and the baby. After the miscarriage last year, we are waiting to shout out the news until her first trimester is here. That means I'll be Nannie again in April!
Me? I help take care of my mom and my aunt, when needed. Got my hands full with everything around the house. But God has blessed me! I'm trying to teach myself to crochet, but I can't make any sense of the directions! LOL I need a translator! Well, here's a pic of me and Liam! It's from the wedding... we call it "Nannie Love"!
Love you all and wishing you all a beautiful day! ♥
oh, how handsome, and once again, welcome back
Morning everyone,
Julie, that's fantastic news, really is..hard to believe the age of those kids! how they've grown and I'm sure their doing well is a testimony to your parenting.
I absolutely love the photo of you and Liam, should be a magazine cover for sure..you sure are gorgeous!!!! Singing 'happy birthday' to Liam..5, just know he's the love of your life.
Yes, am leaving Friday and will be spending 10 days, 3 of which will be in New Orleans so when you say you've had rain for weeks, please tell me not from morning until night??? Guess we'd best bring umbrella's
Kathy, I put the eagle on the drawing wall until I return, won't look dimentional till all the colored stitching is done..am sure though my godson will love it. How are you feeling this morning.
Mary, look forward to you linking us up with your site..I'm as anxious as you..no bad thoughts, it's your time in life to prosper, just ask the Lord! Now you've got me anxious, what if Lance thinks I'm a bit off?? lol
7th should be ok Mary..I'll keep you posted.
Brought fabric/heat resistant fabric in with me to make Suzanne and Rita a curling iron holder..just know that they'll ask why I have one and Linda has one and not them, sooo that will entertain me today, that and a bag full of Christmas scraps.
Came up with a not so brilliant idea, I've so many nieces, wouldn't it be nice to make a little something for them, a remembrance of their Auntie Betty?? so will put a plan together with all my scraps
First time Melissa has posted re birth of twins:
To all my friends, I would like to announce that me and the love of my life are the proud parents of Addison and Alex born on July 12th, 15 weeks early. Addison was born first at 1 pound, 10 ounces and Alex arrived second at 1 pound, 14 ounces. Some of you may be surprised as you didn't even know I was pregnant. It has been a long bumpy ride from about 19 weeks and we wanted to be sure that everyone was safe and sound before we officially announced it to the world. I may be a little biased, but these are the cutest babies in the world. They have a long road ahead of them with lots of ups and downs but they have been fighters from the start
i'm fine but my arm and knee are throbbing, and it is good to have Julie back. I missed her smiling typing
Thinking of Tubby this morning so will post a joke I'm sure he'd get a chuckle..if you are lurking Shirley know I so very often think of him..
NEVER WAX YOUR HOO-HA
All hair removal methods have tricked women with their promises of easy, painless hair removal - The Epilady, scissors, razors, Nair andnow....the wax. Read on..........
My night began as any other normal weeknight. Come home, fix dinner, play with the kids.
I then had the thought that would ring painfully in my mind for the next few hours: 'Maybe I should get the waxing kit from the medicine cabinet. So I headed to the site of my demise: the bathroom.
It was one of those 'cold wax' kits. No melting a clump of hot wax, you just rub the strips together in your hand, they get warm and you peel them apart and press them to your leg (or wherever else) and you pull the hair right off. No muss, no fuss. How hard can it be?
I mean, I'm not a genius, but I am mechanically inclined enough to figure this out. (YA THINK!?!) So I pull one of the thin strips out. Its two strips facing each other stuck together. Instead of rubbing them together, my genius kicks in so I get out the hair dryer and heat it to 1000 degrees. ('Cold wax,' yeah...right!) I lay the strip across my thigh. Hold the skin around it tight and pull.
It works!
OK, so it wasn't the best feeling, but it wasn't too bad. I can do this! Hair removal no longer eludes me! I am She-rah, fighter of all wayward body hair and maker of smooth skin Extraordinaire. With my next wax strip I move north. After checking on the kids I sneak back into the bathroom for the ultimate hair fighting championship. I drop my panties and place one foot on the toilet...
Using the same procedure, I apply the wax strip across the right side of my bikini line, covering the right half of my hoo-ha and stretching down to the inside of my butt cheek (it was a long strip).
I inhale deeply and brace myself.... RRRRIIIPPP!!!!
I'm blind!!! Blinded from pain!!!!..... OH MY GAWD!!!!!!!!!
Vision returning, I notice that I've only managed to pull off half the strip.
CRAP!
Another deep breath and RIPP! Everything is spinning and spotted. I think I may pass out.... I must stay conscious.... I must stay conscious. Do I hear crashing drums??? Breathe, breathe.... OK, back to normal.
I want to see my trophy - a wax covered strip, the one that has caused me so much pain, with my hairy pelt sticking to it. I want to revel in the glory that is my triumph over body hair. I hold up the strip!
There's no hair on it. Where is the hair??? WHERE IS THE WAX???
Slowly I ease my head down, foot still perched on the toilet. I see the hair. The hair that should be on the strip... it's not! I touch....I am touching wax. I run my fingers over the most sensitive part of my body, which is now covered in cold wax and matted hair. Then I make the next BIG mistake ... Remember my foot is still propped upon the toilet? So I put my foot down.
Sealed shut! My butt is sealed shut. Sealed shut! I penguin walk around the bathroom trying to figure out what to do and think to myself 'Please don't let me get the urge to poop....my head may pop off!'
What can I do to melt the wax? Hot water!! Hot water melts wax!! I'll run the hottest water I can stand in the bathtub, get in, immerse the wax-covered bits and the wax should melt and I can gently wipe it off, right ???
*WRONG!!!!!!!*
I get in the tub - the water is slightly hotter than that used to torture prisoners of war or sterilize surgical equipment - I sit. Now, the only thing worse than having your nether regions glued together, is having them glued together and then glued to the bottom of the tub.....in scalding hot water. Which, by the way, does not melt cold wax.
So, now I'm stuck to the bottom of the tub as though I had cemented myself to the porcelain!! God bless the man who had convinced me a few months ago to have a phone put in the bathroom!!!!! I call my friend, thinking surely she has waxed before and has some secret of how to get me undone. It's a very good conversation starter.
'So, my butt and hoo-ha are glued together to the bottom of the tub!'
There is a slight pause. She doesn't know any secret tricks for removal but she does try to hide her laughter from me. She wants to know exactly where the wax is located, 'Are we talking cheeks or hoo-ha?' She's laughing out loud by now ... I can hear her. I give her the rundown and she suggests I call the number on the side of the box. YEAH!!!!! Right!! I should be the joke of someone else's night.
While we go through various solutions, I resort to trying to scrape the wax off with a razor. Nothing feels better than to have your girlie goodies covered in hot wax, glued shut, stuck to the tub in super hot water and then dry-shaving the sticky wax off!! By now the brain is not working, dignity has taken a major hike and I'm pretty sure I'm going to need Post-Traumatic Stress counseling for this event.
My friend is still talking with me when I finally see my saving grace.....the lotion they give you to remove the excess wax. What do I really have to lose at this point? I rub some on and OH MY GOD!!! The scream probably woke the kids and scared the dickens out of my friend. It's sooo painful, but I really don't care.
'IT WORKS!!
I get a hearty congratulation from my friend and she hangs up. I successfully remove the remainder of the wax and then notice to my grief and despair....THE HAIR IS STILL THERE.......ALL OF IT!
So I recklessly shave it off. Heck, I'm numb by now. Nothing hurts. I could have amputated my own leg at this point.
Next week I'm going to try hair color......how bad can that turn out???
ROFLMBO!
I am with Kathy! That was hilarious!
Betty, I love the pictures of those twins, they are so precious!
So much reading!!! Now I can't remember a thing I wanted to say.
So glad the twins are holding their own...
Jeff is sure a hotty, Betty! Lots of beautiful people at the reception!
All the pictures are amazing from everyone!
Looking forward to seeing you on your return trip! I've been spending a lot of time in the garden, yanking out this and that and planting things that have been sitting in pots. Starting to look at options for enlarging the shade bed...getting pretty full!
Raining today, so looks like a cleaning day...sigh....wish I had your gumption, Betty!
LMAO!!! That is too funny for words! Can imagine YOU doing that, Kathy!!
Morning Cookie! How are you all doing? Sounds like your pretty busy in the gardens again/still!
Oh yes, LK, still busy. Getting quite a bit caught up. Some of my paths are reimerging! Some plants just get so MOBILE!!!!
Awwwwwwwwwww the pic of Addy and Alex is for sure to sweet for words. bless their wee hearts.
Still kind of new to this forum so I usually just wish everyone the best in whichever place they might be.
This northern Canadian day is a picture perfect summers day .. likely to be arounf 75F with little humidity.
I am GOING to GO outside today, may not be able to sit on the lawnchairs though, but, I do have a 4 inch cushion that is to come with me wherever I go for the next few months .. must say, it does work.
Movin slow and easy today ... kinda stiff.
Take care everyone
Toodles
~M~
One step at a time.
Joyce, is that Canadian plant homesick, shall I take it back north with me??
"M" I think you are doing fabulously, as LindaKay says, 'one step at a time'
LindaKay I believe you asked how Sharon was doing with the flooding..insurance adjustor is on a 3 week vacation..most of everything on the upper floor has been replaced including her washer which was the culprit, the downstairs has most damage so nothing she can do until he gets back..she is disgusted for sure!
She just said that my niece Nikki will be at the Canadian National Exhibition (CNE) in the Rising Star Competition end of August so I will travel down and go see her compete..she writes her own songs, quite talented.
Good afternoon everyone!!
Whew I have caught up and don't remember half of what I read. My goodness.
Debbie when is Shannon's appointment? I hope things can go as good as possible with that, I feel so bad for her!
Betty the pics are awesome, good job on that eagle too! That's gorgeous, and got my fingers crossed for your niece!
Wow Julie!! I am so glad you and the kids got past that, I knew you were strong!!! You have been one busy girl!!!
That is a gorgeous picture of the twins Betty, they are adorable and such fighters! I'm glad they're doing as good as they can be.
Marilynne glad you got the cushion! Yes, one step at a time my friend, go get some sun and enjoy the gorgeous day!
I don't know what I'm going to do today, yesterday me and Joel took a ride to Eureka Springs and piddled around there for a bit then came back, it's about an hour each way, beautiful country driving through the Ozarks. Friday I have my house inspection on the house I'm buying and can't wait to get that done, I want to move into it!
Oh Crissy what an exciting time for you..are your belongings in Fayetteville or do they have to be shipped!
Do we pass Eureka Springs? hmmm heard you mention going there several times.
betty, my house is between new Orleans ande joces house. I need you togo see the voodoo king and get something to take my bad juju away for me
You will pass it heading south but it's kinda out of the way for you, but you would LOVE IT!! It's a quaint Victorian mountain village in the Ozarks with little shops you walk past downtown, tons of places to stay and party, and eat at, here's a link....
http://eurekasprings.org/
Betty when we see you we'll discuss the way you're heading south and see if you come close to either myself or Eureka Springs, maybe we can get y'all there. My stuff is actually in a storage place in a town called Johnson, which is the same town that the apartment that I'm renting a room at is, it's just about 10 minutes north of Fayetteville. I'll have to rent a pickup or U-Haul and drive it the 20 minutes north to the house. There are a bunch of small cities all jumbled up together here, and they all connect.
Crissy, soon as we get the rest of the blood work done...waiting for that lab work papers...we will set up appointment for next doctor. Dr. V wants to see these test results first before we make that appointment...as it may send us to a different doctor. He wants to cut out the middle man here.
Kathy LOL!! I feel your pain!
Oh ok Debbie, I'm glad that he wants to do that, having a middleman is not good. I have my fingers crossed for her, and you for the best possible outcome.
Betty, you must be so proud of your niece.
