A big Hello Marilynne!! I just moved from Central Arkansas to Northwest Arkansas and I'll throw you some peaches! My real name is Christine, Crissy is a nickname that my mom came up with after she decided she didn't want to name me Michelle because she didn't want people calling me Shelley, and her original thought of James Robert just wouldn't work at all LOL!
Tell me about falling! I am the queen of falling! When I was moving on June 27th I fell and dislocated my elbow, the second time the sucker has popped out. I've broken my arms 6 different times, now I'm dislocating elbows instead. I don't do any extracurricular activities that has anything to do with balance as I have non of that!
I'm getting hungry too, I'm wanting me bacon and eggs, maybe if I start cooking the smell will wake Joel up tee hee hee
Best/Worse/What did I learn today?Chat with friends, new&old
"M" great news about the ticker..how long will you be in the hospital..you will have to dmail me your phone number so I can check with Lorna or Gord as to how you are doing. Know you can't help but worry but try not to..still amazed that you were in top form and it came on so quickly..Lordy was it 2 or 3 years ago that Lorna had the amputation and you were bouncing around looking after her? Yes we'll be there as you got under, will be keeping close eye on what the surgeons are dong, asking a lot of questions re why's and there when you wake, no doubt about that..you will be shooo'ing us home!
Hoping to get news re the twins, Ann was hoping to come home Monday for a few days, she is sooo tired.
Darlene is moving not her new home today, sale of her other home closes next Friday so she will have time to clean it before the close..she is overwhelmed but know once all settles she will just love it. Won't be long and she will be in Florida organizing the place she bought in Florida..hasn't mentioned me driving her down in October so perhaps she has someone who will go spend time with her.
I might go down for a few weeks at Christmas, not sure yet.
Crissy, wonderful news about your mom, didn't look good for awhile, sad that your step father is now having issues. She's thrilled I imagine to be back in Modesto. Jim is the same, you know Jim, let's everything slide off his shoulders..he really is a Saint. Imagine he is still working, truth be known even though he says it's because he likes to be active, likely it's to spend more time away from home. Lol
Can't believe of reasonable homes are in the region you are looking to buy.
Aunt Muriel is waiting for her surgery as well, starting not to be able to look after her property on the river, think I brough you to her house right?
"M" it is inboard outboard, 23' with cuddy..actually she was Roger's boat..long story goes with her. No burns yet, but the lamp shade isn't finished yet..seeng I have all day to play, too hot to be outside I'm going between sewing up 841. 2 1/2" squares together and working on the lamp shade..just enjoying myself
Now you've all made me hungry..little n the house and I don't want to buy much groceries as I'll be gone on holidays shortly, busy from now till then so I'd be throwing it out.
Karen, maybe a movie?? Cool theatre ..hmm if I remember correctly town you are in may not have theatre.
Karen, I hope that's your name (sileolgma) .. I L O V E Traverse City. Have been there several times as DH is into competitve shooting, and, at one time, was shooting with 'Richard Davis' from the Traverse City area .. mind you, it wasn't recently. Many times the wives 'got away' and went to Traverse City .. Canadians shopping in the US, gotta luv it ^_^
Am thinking the same re the price of homes down your way Crissy, homes up my way are astronomical, I often times wonder how people can afford them. DH says 'anyone can sign on the dotted line' !! Guess that's so, but, how do you sleep at night !!??
Betty I'll DMail you the info, Lorna and Gord will know you're calling. I might bring my tablet with me as the hospital has WiFi and I'll sign up for 3 days of it.
I SHOULD be able to email on the day of surgery .. that remains to be seen!
I might be right goofy LoL (goofier)
Had toast and an egg and cheese, compliments of Chef Lorna !!
Think I'll wheel on back to bed .. AC just came on, so, it's likely pretty warm out.
Keep smiling, makes everyone wonder what you've been up to"
^_^
~M~
Well see that "M" already you are up to posting day of surgery, can't get more positive than that now can you! Thanks I'll not abuse the number, can you believe me, miss chatty Cathy not liking talking on the telephone. Lol
"M" bunch of us met up with Karen in Frankenmuth last fall, LindaKay was there, Joyce, Bertie, Judy, Janice, Ann and I..had loads of fun..we didn't get to Traverse City though, Karen had to drive and meet up with us..quite the group of Characters right Karen
Would be quite a jaunt for you to travel to Traverse City from Thunder Bay wouldn't it "M"
"M" you just have to move to Souther Ontario

Betty is Darlene moving to Florida? I can relate to being overwhelmed! I can only imagine, they say a divorce is like a death, I kind of agree with that and kind of not. I am so out of the loop! Yes you did take me to Aunt Muriel's house, I hope her surgery goes well as well. LOL about Jim! He does have some seriously thick skin! He IS a saint, no doubt about that!
Well, Lynn made the decision to move back, and it wasn't a bad decision since that's where all of their friends are at and Oklahoma was freaking her out a little because she didn't know hardly anyone and was in sooo much pain, BUT she's remembering why she left and is wanting to leave again! LOL! Modesto really isn't the place to be, it's got about 250,000 people, one 10 story building, and one 6 lane highway (3 lanes for each direction) running through the west side of town. There is literally nothing there, nothing to do, takes forever getting across town, no subway system, it's just a polluted pile of yuck. I told her I won't move back, Modesto sucks in many ways.
I was hoping you'd hear something about the twins today too, even an update if there really isn't one. Ann has been through SOOOOOOO much! She's got to be a very strong woman!
Ha! These reasonable homes aren't what I want but what I can afford. To get what I want I need to spend another $20 to $30,000 and I don't have it. Figure I'll deal with what I can afford, which isn't bad, for now.
Well I'm going to go take a shower so Joel can shower and we can get to doing whatever we are going to do. Have a great day everyone!!
My bet M is that you will be posting the day of your surgery. Especially since you are having the 'local'. I was up the night of my knee replacement - there as no darn way I was using that bed pan. We'll be waiting to hear how everything went.
Rained last night a bit, more of a T&L show. It is 88*F on my deck right now. There is quite a breeze but it is a warm one. Betty I am thinking CITY lied to us about all the storms coming today. lol Now who would think Adam and Natasha would tell us a fib?
Crissy I think you are wise buying a house. So what if it isn't exactly what you want. In a few years you will be able to turn it and get what you want. Better than tossing money out the window each month in rent. I am so glad you are away from that piece of work you were married to..... hoping you feel safer now.
Wonder how our Judy is making out at work? She is probably a ball of nerves.
Mary, how are you liking your new desk area? Loved your logic about why you should move.
Betty sending positive thoughts for Darlene. It is a brave thing she is doing in selling her home and moving. I don't know if emotionally I could handle doing that right now. Hope everything goes smoothly for her and there are no glitches in closing.
Diesel and I were just out - more for Diesel to run off some of that energy he has inside of him. He spent about 15 min chasing frogs and then trotted back up to the house and sat at the door. It's too hot even for him! We haven't been going on any long walks in this heat and I sure see it with his energy level in the house.
Dianne
They did indeed lie Dianne, was looking forward to rain, not to be, at least you got a bit. Yes I think it will do Darlene good to spend summers up here and winters in Florida..will miss her though..we'd gab almost every night.
Diesel and Missy know it's best to be inside. RLoiley came home early this morning, ate and off she went a trotting. Of course it's Friday so she goes to her summer home on Fridays.
Forgot "M" was having a local, yep, maybe she can update us later in the evening, if not I'll call Gord/Lorna to get news.
Big Sigh..drats Dianne, was going full speed ahead with the stained glass lamp shade, have about 10 caps, just checked, none are 6 sided..sure hope Gayle is open this afternoon..here I was hoping not to go out in this heat!
Guess that means I have to make myself presentable if I'm going out
off to do something with myself.
Doing the happy dance, winds up, rumbling going on, rained for all of 2 minutes, hope more is on the way..sure is dark out there, will be waiting till storm passes by before heading out.
Greg was to come after work to get the white shrink wrap we took off the boat and bring it to the dump, it's now all over the yard.
Which ever one of you sent it, tks.
Ooooh those big oak trees out front are almost bending in half..
I was reading where you said change the Font to 12. DO you do that on DG
somewhere or on your computer...because I sure cant find it anywhere!!
Thanks
Debbie
go to your preferences on the top of your home page
Debbie, I did it and it worked, thankfully..was driving me crazy..
be careful, this storm might be heading your way.
Is it okay to have my t-towel swap sent to you? lordy will have to have a truck when next we meet lol
Playing with glass , going back and forth with sewing of 841 squares and having a wonderful day
Of course it is OK
you are just hoping I forget all about them aren't you..when you have a sec could you take a photo of yours and mine card..anxious to see them, said her guide dog helped out.
Sure do miss Suse (101)
You are a PITA. But I love you.
Glad you do, nobody else does. Lol
Had a though awhile ago, Bernice sold her house (across the street) to Michelle her daughter/husband, cliff and Bernice were away for 2 weeks and just got home as the storm was raging..their granny flat is being worked on and I'm sure it's hard for them all being in same are..
Will drop in over the weekend to see if they would like to stay here the 10 days I'm away, that way I wouldn't worry about the kitties..wouldn't anyway because when Kyle says he will do something you can be sure he'll do it..I will see, they might enjoy being on their own and are just across the street should they want to supervise the work on granny square. Won't hurt to ask
Yikes, keep this up and there will be no power..big bangs and lightening
Usually the farmers market starts setting up at 4pm..doubt they will today
I'm home!!! With a foot that is so swollen I can't wear my shoes. I did end up with a cortisone shot and the doc says it will hurt for 3 days or so. I can live with that if it goes away then.... If it doesn't, he said he has other treatments. Last resort would be to cut the nerve. I guess this one is important to your balance.
I do have some news. Norm and I are moving about 40 miles southeast of where we are now. We used to live in the Derry/Londonderry area of NH and now we are moving to north Manchester which is the next town. It is really a city but we will be on the outskirts. We found a building with two bedrooms (one to sleep in and one to quilt in!!!!) and the heat/hot water is included in the rent. No more shoveling or mowing lawns for Norm. He has certainly earned the respite after the last four years.... Also his job territory has shifted east as well so this will give him a shorter commute. The boys are growing older and don't really need Grammy to watch them anymore. Their lives and also my DD's and SIL's lives are so busy now. It will be good for me to be back closer to all my quilting friends. My friend Elaine is going to be upset I think but we need to do what is best for us. We are going to do it slow and easy. we start rent there Aug 1 and end here Aug 31 so that will give us a month to get things done. Lots of purging going to happen. So if I don't post as often, it's because I'm packing or tossing or sleeping!!! LOL
If the storm does come to fruition for you Betty (and perhaps Dianne) .. be ready for 2" of rain .. that's how much we got in an 18 hour period .. sheets of it .. tomatoes loved .. needed a good big drink.
DH is up in his veg garden 2-3x a day looking for potato bugs, usually finds a couple each time.
Dianne, here's hoping I am texting/emailing the evening of .. the concensus of each health care professional I have spoken with, as well as anyone who has had a replacement done, is that I will be doin a 'hoot and a holler' I'll be so happy the pain has gone away. Sure hope that's so.
Jeeze Betty, sounds like a plan with neighbours ^_^
Hope they go for it!
Have the dogs out .. then going to crawl into bed, I know it's early but I figure if I'm sleeping or watching TV I'll not think about, 'you know what'.
Toodle dee do ladies
~M~
PS .. it's a 2 day trip to Traverse City Betty. From Thunder Bay to Sault Ste Marie (a 7 hour stint) then on the Traverse City , can't remember how long, but less than 4 hours I think .... nice drive to The Soo along Lake Superior, but, transports GALORE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wow, lots of damage done in town..trees down up the street but luckily didnt land on their house..mine are still standing..just got hydro back! I just have raking and branches to pick up..will wait for tomorrow..think it broke humidity though..poor flowers, laying on the ground, they were dying having no water and now flattened by the storm, can't win
Sky is dark, more to come...should make something to eat just incase hydro goes out again
"M" I won't be too long after you, rather doze off in bed vs couch, tired tonight!
I believe about 10 years ago when i drove to St Cloud, Minnesota I headed north, hmm must have been the Sault I crossed at, couldn't be Thunder Bay could it have been? Came home travelling through Wisconsin..stayed in the nicest little town, felt like I was in Holland, Dutch colony, guess what I'm saying is you live way, way up there, not a day drive or I would come visit. Lol
maybe now that both you and Lorna will soon be in travelling shape you might come to visit Lorna's parents and of course spend a few days here.
Did do 1/3 of the blocks for the new quilt I'm doing called 'Film at Five' in between soldering all the panels, might have done more had the power not gone off.
Need to go clean up the panels, flux, mso tomorrow morning I can made 6 panels into a lamp..want to bring it with me when I go to the BBQ tomorrow night seeing its at Paul' and he's been asking when it will be done.
Always wants to pay me, don't want money, he'll insist but I will say 'just remember one day I will call and say I'm not gong in, it's a lamp day' lol
Omg Barb, fantastic news about you finding a place to your liking, know Norm would never complain about the amount involved there with the shovelling, grounds upkeepl, best part is he'll have more time to spoilt you.
The boys are getting older and soon will be driving and you will be surprised, up you might see them more with the move.
guess many of us have to consider changes in our loves, need to think "simple"
Will all your new quilting organization cupboards fit..ouch to the purging, sure hope none of it is fabric.
Let's hope the cortisone shot helps..
Barb, didn't you pack most of the house earlier this year when you thought you were moving? Didn't unpack everything did you?
Of course I unpacked everything. I didn't want boxes everywhere!! Silly me...... Should have known.
Marilynn you are correct, Karen it is. Best of luck with your procedure.
Well cool wouldn't come to us so we went to it. Took great grand Payton for a drive up to the Big Mac. Takes about 2 1/2 hours each way but was 12 degrees cooler plus he got to see and ride across a neat bridge, and dip his toes in two Great Lakes just a few minutes apart. Still waiting for the rain to hit here, it is a bit cooler though, thank goodness.
Barb I still have boxes packed from our aborted sale. Maybe I need to unpack so it will sell again.
Lol you are too cute Karen, if it would work, worth the try!
Oh Barb, doing it all over again you'll be a pro at it.
Karen long drive, bet the vehicle was air conditioned thus a way of escaping the heat, just ride around, that being said though, expensive re gas. bet Payton was in awe..
Update from Ann
"just an update to let you know how things are. Addy had surgery yesterday to repair holes in her bowel so is now at Sick Kids. She is holding her own.
Alex is stable and they are upping his feedings to 3 cc's of milk every 4 hours. Things are still very much up and down but everyone is handling things as best as we can."
Good to hear the wee ones are hanging tough. Considering the odds they are doing remarkably well.
The heat was so bad here, I'd have just sat out in the car running the air for relief. It was nice to show Payton a bit of the wonderful around us. If we ever do get moved, he might not ever see all that again. He was amazed when we told him the they had started the excavating for the Fort at Mackinac just about the time his grandpa, our oldest son, was born. We were there when they just had ropes lining the area and were starting trenches.
Thanks for the update Betty. Still saying daily prayers for those little ones!
Morning all,
thought you lost us Cody, how are things going?
Sun is coming up, guess the rain we got is all we will get this weekend!
hmmmm went to make a coffee and saw the back screen deck door was shut, odd, I usually leave it open so the kitties can get in and have a place to rest until I let them in come morning should they be out for the night..
Maybe the wind shut it????
went to close it, turned around and look what I found
have no idea who this person is..didn't wake him, he;s out, guess dead drunk so don't want to startle him..will go about my business for awhile in hopes he just wakes and goes along his way..
guess he was smart enough to get out of the rain.
Holy cow Betty - call the police!!! And lock your door!!!! Being a good person is all well and good but this goes tooooooo far!!!!!
I just called Greg, want to go out and clean some of the yard after the storm but am being cautious..he's on his way..told him NOT to be yelling and screaming, just ask him to head along home.
He must be getting restless as the settee cushions are now on the floor.
Guess it was better than perhaps him driving a vehicle somewhere..
Keep us posted!!!
Greg came over, woke him up, he was confused as to where he was..as it happens he's Bernice/Cliff's grandson that just moved in as Michelle bought her mom's house.
he kept saying how embarrassed he was, sorry Betty, sorry Betty and then it hit me he was calling me Betty..asked how he knew who I was and that's when he said he was Michelle's son whom I didn't know, perhaps saw in passing.
so all is well there
not so well in the twin department.
Ann just called, think she's beyond feeling
They were told that Alexandra has had brain bleed and will affect her quality of life
Alexander has blood in the lungs, not doing well
so as the hospitals are across from each other (not a few subway stops as I originally thought) Melissa will stay with Alexandro and Ann with Alexander
Big sigh
Relieved to find out it was someone whose family you knew. Still scary.
Saying prayers really hard for the twins.....so was hoping they were winning their battle!! Breaks my heart!
We had an unauthorized visitor at our cottage when we weren't there.. Nothing taken, nothing damaged, just a bed slept in. Figure it might have been a kid who run off and needed a place to sleep for a night. Never happened again.
Sorry to hear about the twins. Saying prayers for them.
I just wrote a long post and then lost it.
Maybe I'll be back after I wake up.
hugs, katie
What does one say!!! Guardian angels are working overtime in quite a few venues these days, but, most especially with the 2 wee babes.
My prayers are with the children and family.
OMG Betty! What a sight to behold first thing in the morning! Glad it turned out OK in the end .. the one reason I 'put up' with WESTIE WOOFIES .. I swear, if they hear a Chickadee fart in a tree out in the back 40 they start to bark like maniacs. Hmmmm .. do chickadees 'fart' LoL
Glorious day for a wedding .. kind of looking forward to sneakin a peek at the wedding party .. I'm not going to go to the 25th anniv today .. too humid for me to be out and about in the wheelchair, will be starting to get my 'things' together for my hospital bag.
Karen .. the bridge , The Mackinaw, (I think that's what it's called) is something else. Here's me, afarid of heights, trying to remain calm so as not to let out son see I'm scared stiff going across it !!
I would imagine you made a GREAT memory for your grandson ^_^
Barb, congrats on your move .. I wouldn't even know where to begin were I to move .. I KNOW I certainly would NOT go near the garage .. MAN CAVE totally. Not that the MAN of the CAVE knows where anything is !!
Once I'm back on my feet, I have vowed to clean a cupboard a week .. I PROMISE !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hope everyone has a stellar weekend.
~M~
Heartbreaking for sure, you want to do something but you just don't know what to do, prayers are what is needed right now.
Darlene called me this morning as well, said the move was the move from hell, they got the storm just as everything was being out in trucks by the moving company, power went out...got to her new place, storm hit just as they were taking things off the trucks...no power..updat from Ontario hydro is they are trying to get it back on by tonight..she slept at her cousins across the street from her in Port, anxious to of get things organized..told her I would help tomorrow..she will call to let me know if they have power.
"M" have fun watching the newlyweds..might be a good decision not going to the 25th, you wouldn't want to be tired for surgery Monday.
Thinking back and seeing Greg's tool room each and every tool has its place, actually Greg's tools are in glass stainless steel cabinets, my house should look as clean..his dad was like that as well...think Jeff has a bit of it as well. Don't take after their mom
Need to go get groceries, I promised to make salads and need ingredients..
Another hour or so Paul's lamp shade will be done, I'll be thrilled to have that project behind me!
