I'm sorry that I do not have time to search thru your thread but I can NOT find mail and I can not find how to renew the membership. So far I have not had a good experience with the "new look".

Your membership renewal is found under "My Info" or "Preferences" - both links are at the very top of each page. Let me know if you have any other questions, or need more assistance.

Ok, I think I have it now. Will we get the picture column back on that page?

See my post here: http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/p.php?pid=9585271 - I have asked for it to be restored, but that means we will have to take out something else. And it could be several days (up to a couple weeks) before we are able to get back to this issue.

Dover, PA(Zone 6b)

Terri, Thank you so much. Hope you will get a chance to have a great 4th of July and partying and picnicking are in your day.

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

Putting on my gardener's "hat" our 4th of July is pretty awesome for the plants...as long as it doesn't flood. But our forecast is 100% rain this morning, this afternoon and tonight...something like 70% or 80% chance tomorrow and 60% or so on Saturday. No sunning, no swimming...no outdoor projects. Oh well.

Looking on the bright side, we will have water in our pond again - we have a large, shallow, natural pond in our front yard. It tends to get dry in the summer months, although it looked pretty back in late May when I snapped this shot. (Last year, it was completely dry from May to November.)

Hi Terry, Im Happy with my Journal now. If they have to take something out in order to put the rid column pics back in the journal with the tools then tell the tech team dont worry about it, as long as we have the pics column in our journal on our page to view. im actually finding it simpler to use the tools journal alphabetized without the pics.

Lucketts, VA(Zone 7a)

Holly, to work on photos in your journal, open two windows. Going to your journal through the 'Communities" menu allows you access to the "Actions" column, but no photos. Going to your journal in the second window through the "My Info" menu bring up your journal with photos, but no action column. Use this window to choose which photos you want to replace, then perform the action in the other window.

I still want the rid pics back. I have a software program for my plants, but can't see all the images for my plants without clicking something. The journal here gave me thumbnails I could see, all on one page. That's why I remain a subscriber. I can get everything else I use on this site elsewhere and for free. Without the thumbnails, I may as well just use my software and save myself twenty bucks a year.

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

Maybe I missed the answer but is the text for the photos going to go back to the side when you open the thumbnail or stay under the photo? Hoping it goes back.

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

Joy, the journal is available for free. Our premium features include access to several subscribers-only forums, unlimited PF searches, and no ads.

ronnie, it is probably going to remain beneath - the text won't fit otherwise.

Magna, UT(Zone 7a)

I see that my issue with the tradelist is fixed. Thank you.

Chevy Chase, MD(Zone 7a)

Is Zen_Man right that photos are being downsized in pixel-width? That is a terrible development, if true. I'd like to see better resolution and bigger photos.

But limited to how many time you can edit it a day when not a subscriber right?

Basically, I just wanted to let it be known that there are others who would still like the thumbnails back even if themikesmom is happy with her Journal now.

Lucketts, VA(Zone 7a)

The readily viewed sets of thumbnails is the main feature distinguishing the journal from a basic spreadsheet. Can't believe they eliminated the feature.

Concord, NC

Joy, I said I was happy with the fact you can still see all the thumbnails in a row on one page on my members page journal and I think they stated they could fix the rid column in the tool editing journal but that they would have to take another column out to put it back. I didnt want to be the scape goat to be blamed if they took another necessary column out and it looked stupid inorder to appease us when you can still add pics and see them in a row on one journal page, as thumbnails, via your member page. maybe you would liked to be blamed Joy if they put the thumbpics back on the second editing journal as well and after they take another column out that might be necessary out, but i do not. thanks for calling me out and throwing me under the bus when I am backing you. last time I do that. please speak for 'yourself' for now on and not 'themikesmom'.

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

Ahem. Let's keep the conversation constructive and focused on new issues and questions, please.

greenthumb99, "they" would be me. I am the one who agreed to removing that column in order to make things fit the space.

And now I'm asking you to take my word that I hear your concerns about the journal, and I've asked the techs to take another look, but it will be prioritized after they work through a few other things first.

Joy, there are no limits on editing your journal. The only restrictions of that nature on non-subscribers is that they can only initiate two new d-mails per day (an effort that cuts down on spam.)

Kalama, WA(Zone 8b)

themikesmom, I'm sorry if that sounded like I was saying anything against you. That wasn't my intention, but I can see now how that could have sounded that way. Please except my apology, I'll try to be more careful in how I word things from now on.

Thank you Terry, I didn't know that.

Kalama, WA(Zone 8b)

I just noticed that the time is off too. It shows my last post (which I just posted a few mins ago) was at 12:40 am. It's 4:46 pm here right now. Can you please pass that on to the techs too Terry?

FWIW, I'm happy to report that the page now looks the same (and correct) on my MacBook Pro using Safari, Chrome, and Firefox. Thanks for the good work to repair the problem!

(Zone 7a)

How about a new thread for slow dial-uppers? It would be wonderful to be able to follow the progress of these changes and hopefully the return of features like the advanced forum search.

Dover, PA(Zone 6b)

Greenthumb Thanks that is exactly what I did. Worked really good that way I could look thru the files and replace the pics with newer nicer ones.

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Terry & Melody - while the tech team is being besieged with requests please let them know that the search function is super excellent now and so is the search function on Dmails. They probably could use some encouragement in the form of praise!

Lucketts, VA(Zone 7a)

Holly, be aware that photos added this way are invisible when viewing your journal going through the "My Info" link. Strange.

(Zone 7a)

pirl - Regarding the search function, I don't see it, for example, on the Morning Glory forum. It used to be in the upper right-hand corner. Are you and I talking about the same search function?

Still hoping for a new page for slow dial-uppers.

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

The search box is above "Today's Articles" on your home page.

Rose Lodge, OR(Zone 8b)

I've never gotten the Search function to come up with anything but a selection of articles and the trade lists of somebody named "weedeaters."

Rose Lodge, OR(Zone 8b)

Sorry, make that "weedsfree."

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

I just used the search function and typed in "petunia" and this is what I got:

http://davesgarden.com/sitewidesearch.php?q=petunia

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

Summerkid, it sounds like you're using the site-wide search from your home page. If you want to search just forums, try going to the forums page, then locate the search box (it should say "search forums" instead of "search DG")

bluespiral, the Advanced Search is accessible from the forums pages once you conduct a simple search from the main forum page, a specific forum page, or a particular thread.

And with that I will start a new thread.
