1. So close u could almost touch the mountains!
2. We've landed, and are in the helicopter hanger, waiting to see if our luggage will come next - Bob's suitcase is sitting by the side of the road where he caught his flight - we were having "kittens" about where it would end up, but it came about 1/2 hr after we got there...
3. Our bus driver, Dave, after he drove us to Calgary - almost home!!
4. the Red Cross got us a taxi home!! Such wonderful people!!
and in a month or so, when the roads are repaired (5 bridges, and several sections of road), we'll return to pick up our motorhome :-)
and so, the story is almost ended.
Aren't you glad I didn't post ALL my pics? LOL
Best/Worse/What did I learn today? Chat with friends..
Ohhh absolutely love all the photo's. Hard to beat the first photo. Gee whizzz what a view, with everything else going on I think you could have done without the snow!
What did you think of the helicopter ride? Now when do you think you will get back to pick up the motorhome. What an adventure, did ou at least get a few laughs when you thought of all the mishaps going on? Meet new friends?
Glad to have you home
Thanks for the beautiful pictures and stories Susan! Love the mountains.
Does look as though you can touch the mountain..never tired of looking at photo's. Was your mom aware of your adventure? Were you able to let them know you were safe?
I'm glad to hear that they shall focus on having the stampede, thought perhaps they would have to cancel.
oh Betty - could certainly beat the first photo!! Those mountains are absolutely majestic and gorgeous, and WOW....... Just figured I'd "flooded" the chat enuff with the ones I posted lol
Deb & Jean - yes, it is a wonderful place for a vacation! Being in the shadow of the mountain, and in the higher elevations means you can definitely get snow at the end of June.......
Oh, and I missed the photo of the 20 baby mountain sheep.......
Will have to find it......
You are not flooding the thread, great seeing our beautiful Canada..one day....
No, my mom doesn't know - It was thought better not to worry her.
I was able to get a message to people in my church on Thurs am (didn't think we would be longer than 1 extra day away) - they were talking about us driving south, west, and then north, to bypass the mudslides but then chose to evacuate via helicopter so we were there longer. Then the phone, and internet service went down, so we couldn't contact anyone until we got off the helicopter, closer to Calgary.
How long had you expected to be away vs actual time away?
1, 2, & 3. Baby longhorn sheep - they were just cavorting around, and across the road!
4 & 5 - oh those beautiful mountains........... after the rains and snows (melted) we went for a long walk, and boy, did I take pics of the mountains. Each one seemed lovelier and more majestic, or mysterious than the next.
Some had mists or clouds surrounding them....
Betty - you'd be more than welcome to come visit our end of the country. Canada has such a wonderful variety of scenery - I'm very proud of my country!!
We were supposed to be away for 5 days - Sunday eve to Friday am, but didn't leave until Sunday noon....... so 2 1/2 extra days.
I told some of the campers that we are where we wanted to be - in Camping Country, and BOY, do I love K-country (Kananaskis' pet name)
Saturday & Sunday were perfect weather for camping. If it weren't for the stress, etc, I would have loved to stay.....
MAYBE, when we pick up the motorhome, we'll stay for a few days...... if we can get a ride there and not have to handle 2 vehicles return......
Never thought about that Susan, how long of a drive is it?? you had all the help you needed to get home but getting back is another story..there will be no charges for parking of the motorhome right?
drats, did nothing a gain tonight, getting to be a habit. Not sure what I shall do if I keep up on this trend lol
just went out and walked the gardens before calling it a night..
sooo much yellow in my gardens
a pretty rose for all of you (excited with my roses as I've never been able to grow them, this year it seems many have stepped up to say hi)
got to love sweet Williams, they come in sooo many colors, all stunning
anxious for more varieties to bloom
It's a 2 hour drive, and the camper-neighbour of ours is north of us (campground is south), so we could maybe ask him to take us (passing right by our home) and give us a ride?
We told him we'd let him know when the park is open to retrieve our motorhomes, as they don't have contact info for him, and do for us. They'll likely contact me when it's open..... I hope?!?!
Anyway, I'll be contacting AlbertaParks to see what the updates are.
Beautiful Susan - just beautiful. When I see your pictures it reminds me of the Rocky Mtns here in the States and of my family in Colorado. Speaking of which, they escaped this latest round of Springs fires....Thank heaven.
Morning everyone,
Nice to see you post Barb, feeling any better? Thank the Lord your family came through the fires, bet you fret like crazy..
Barb I'm so trying to talk the girls I travel with to go east next year for our annual Roadtrip, loved travelling north eastern states.
Humidity is crazy, feel like I've gone in the water, everything so wet!
Florida Husqvarna just called, wants me to ship machine (my cost) they will fix and ship back to me at their cost..
still waiting to hear from Sewing Center in Barrie
Oh Goodness, maybe they saw the light. I still say that it is one company and you should be able to take to any dealership for repairs!
Barb, what area of Colorado is your family in? Shane is out in Aurora/Denver border. Said it has been over 100 degrees last few days.
I have Kylie here. My word, I forgot about all this running with little ones!
She says no but wants to make it right..said that what they gave me was a floor model..well I didn't pay for a floor model..thempted to mail it to then and tell them not to send it back unless they can send a new one. unfortunate as she was being so nice. Jaye spoke to Husqvarna at a sewing show and they agreed that warantee should be covered here but not the case.
keep trying to call the fabric shop, they don't answer line if busy..if they haven't looked at it yet I'll go get it and send it south.
And I think, since you purchased new, had to have it replaced and the "new" replacement is futzed up, they should either give you a new working machine, or give you a complete refund.....right is right and they should stand behind their products......afterall, the machine was not a cheapo bottom of the line item.
I agree 100%!! You are a valued customer and they should want to make you come back to purchase from them again.
You deserve complete refund or brand new machine.
Ya know what they say....The squeaky wheel gets the oil.....You need to squeak a lot more Betty....It doesn't matter where ya got the machine...it was from a licensed dealer of their product....do you have an Office of consumer affairs there? There is no reason why you should have to spend a few hundred dollars on all the back and forth just to have what is supposed to be a quality piece of equipment, purchased new, run properly. Squeak louder Betty.
Just called the fabric shop, their repairman looked and wasn't sure what the problem was so told them not to look further, I'll pick it up at lunch, send it back to Florida, tell them unless they send me a new machine which I purchased NOT to send it back to me..expect a refund.
we will see what happens..just needed large throat to finish that quilt I need in 2 weeks..might have to take it off the frame and try and get it done with my Janome
Lordy Betty, you sure have had the 'great run around' with that machine. I have done similar 'runs' with products and come out a winner 90% of the time. The 10% who wouldn't budge went on my FBook page !!!
Susan .. wonderful pics .. quite the experience for you and Bob and countless others ..
Granddaughter just left. Brooklyn DROVE out with her friend Breeze (gotta luv that name), who is newly licensed. Grand Ma Ma is now awaiting a call that they are back home !!! I remember my first few days with a license .. OYE !!!!!!
Not a good day in the discomfort dept, wakening to another day of intense pain is NOT making me happy in the slightest.
Been up in the wchir for an hour now, and, heading it back to the boudoir LoL
Have told Gordon that he best be happy he's a firefighter because I'm thinking up all kinds of renos for the bedroom as I lay there and look up at the ceiling ^_^
Less hot and humid here today, Lorna is having her prosthetic limb resized, so, she's kind of looking to use the wchair .. even though she dislikes it as much as me .. but .. it IS hers !!!
Am attaching (I think) a pic of my 'fur crew' ... Ended up a pic of each .. L-R Lilly, Piper and Smokey
TTFN

Marliynne, so sorry you are having a bad day. Do you have a cushion for the wheelchair seat? I know that helped me so much
when I was in mine last year.
Those furbabies are just precious!! Lily and Piper grew up beautiful....and Smokey is looking wonderful. Reminds me of my Franky.
Well, trying to get the little one for a nap.....she is "reading" and resting.
Debbie
LOL Debbie, likely HEAVY on the 'reading' !!
The wchair has a sooper dooper cushion, made specifically for LORNA .. obviously all bums are NOT the same .. or, I am just too dang picky.
I like the chair as it gets me OUT of bed and into the kitchen so I can nose around and, MAKE LISTS .. !!! I'm sure Gord is going to have a TShirt made for me that specifies I am the SUPREME LIST MAKER ..
I keep telling him that certain 'food staples' do NOT miraculously re appear after you use the last box or loaf ..
Love the animals, and, they have stuck by me through thick and thin .. if I have a teary day .. they come up on the bed and lay quietly with me, Piper is the 'love' of the trio, he has such a dear heart ..
OK .. off I go ... Hmmm ... the theme from The Lone Ranger just popped into my head !!!!!
~M~
On the run,
Like the new format..
will gab when I get home
The electrical mother board is what is gone on the Husqvarna..$80.01 later it's now ready for Purolator to put on big bird..Florida bound!
Letter in the box says:
I'm expecting a new machine, if that model cannot be replaced I want refund for the machine along with shipment charges.
hmmm wonder how far I'll get??
You go gurl!! !
Shipping cost is unforgivable, and I would want it back.
As for the new format...Hmmm...not sure yet.
M
New format on iPad isn't the best, bit garbled , am sure there are bugs to work out.
Here I am, back laying on the couch, need one of you to kick me off. Lol
Ah "M" that trio is so adorable..nothing lke cuddling up to a furry!
Debbie, waiting on an update re your day..was it easier today?
Well, it was somewhat easier. But, that little one is a handful for sure. She had an accident while sitting on
Shannon's lap! I had to hide that giggle. She ate a good lunch and as soon as Pau-Pau got home.....she was
right over to him....for the first time. He read her a book.
Other than breaking my toe....it was a pretty good day.
Sorry I don't have time to read and comment. Waving hello to all you loved ones.
Bill's Dad is in the process of dying. Hospice is with him 24/7 now and he's on atavan and morphine. Kidneys have shut down. He is moving his arms a little and coughs a little sometimes. We've been there almost non-stop for the last two days. We came home for dinner and now I can't get Bill to go back. He's whipped. Guess I'll have to be the one to call and tell them that. Oh well, they'll understand.
Keep us in your prayers, please.
Oh Joyce, I am so sorry. Thoughts and prayers are with all of you. If it must be now, I pray his passing is peaceful. Hugs
Prayers for a peaceful death! Am sure Bill knows how much he can take mentally/ physically, he has been through a lot and needs to care for Bill.difficult times for sure
Prayers coming your way..hugs for you dear friend.
Debbie how precious, Paul looks as though he's enjoying having a little one around but likely Shannon was not impressed. Lol. Now pray tell how did you break your toe?? Running after the little one or Izzy?
With sending the machine to Florida, no wide throat machine to finish Cindy's quilt, need is in a few weeks and not likely will the one being repaired be back so took the quilt off the frame, yikes, thought it would be an easier job to pin the 3 layers so I can do it on my janome...half the problem is everything is so damp from the humidity, need more straight pins so will pick some up tomorrow and who knows with a long weekend ahead might get it done.
Fabricland had a big members sale this week, ended up with 4 yards of Christmas fabric, imagine $3.00 a meter, not my choice of color but will finish another quilt and then bought fabric that is waterproof, bought 4 1/2 meters so I can make a tarp for that carrier on the back of my car, will protect all the suitcases sitting on it re our Guess you can tell what I will be doing this weekend.
Guess a lot of you are starting to put together 4th of July plans??

I had a run in with a chair leg...twice...within 10 minutes! Same chair!!!
Ouch, you will be limping for a bit..you dont have Kylee tomorrow, give you a day to rest it
I don't have her until Tuesday unless plans change. AND....I won't be here most of Tuesday, I have to go for
my second round of "pokes and prods" at the immunologist.
Good luck on the machine replacement Betty!
Debbie, ouch! I hate it when those chairs jump out like that! Tape two toes together, it will help!
Well, the odd thing is...it is on the foot with limited feeling. The toes are nice and purple and swollen. BUT I can't really bend them much anyway. SO icing and elevating. Will see how it is in the morning.
Very quick here this morning and back to bed. Wanted to make sure my prayers got off to Joyce and Bill....
Sorry about your toe Debbie.
I'm not sure about this new format. I'm such a creature of habit!!!!
Morning,
Prayers for Joyce and Bill as well, difficult time for their family!
82 here today change of a thunderstorm and much the same this long weekend. Getting projects together just incase I'm housebound.
Suzanne is off to Toronto this morning so will do some sewing.
Off tonight to Kyle's graduation..
Dropping in to say Good morning to all. I am almost afraid to see what the temps are for today. It has been hot and humid with rain all around yes.....appears we are in the center of the donut!
Debbie, I feel your pain with the toes...I do the same thing when around chairs!!!
