Government Susan
Best/Worse/What did I learn today? Chat with friends..
ah - gov't......... lol
Debbie
I have sweet Lilly..6.., and Piper..3.. And, of course, Smokey the 17 year old pusser, keeper of the castle.
Love them all. They keep me smiling, and, right now, that's a good thing :)
M
yes it is! So happy Smokey is still the king! I remember when you got Lilly!
They do keep us smiling!
OMG Debbie, i was so pumped when we got Lilly, and, she has matured into a beautiful Westie.
Piper, also a Westie, is ALL boy lol.. I'll post it picture whenever I get up and onto my laptop.
Betty, I lasted 30 minutes outside, too humid for me,I dead headed my Hibiscus enjoyed some mosquito swatting and rolled on back inside.
Back on the bed, gonna read a bit more.
TTFN
M
Not sure how the government is handling it Susan but it's all over the news..
went to courthouse to register some documents for Paul re clients then to lunch, chicken souvlaki, yum..
muggy I'll tell you! Saw Linda at the courthouse, where she works, she had all her co-workers come and say hello, all excited about Linda's trip with me, all saying if someone cancels out, remember them lol
Back, thought I'd get the sewing machine out and finish the blue/yellow backing to pass the rest of the day.
no news if the sewing repairman picked up my machine yet to see what the problem is, wish they would hurry..want to make an appt. for Saturday for perm but if I have to go to Buffalo, no sense.
I'll wait until 4pm then call, don't want to be a bug
omg - just realized the "plus" side of this Calgary flood for all the residents of our trailer park........ and I hate to think of it that way, but it is....
The City will not be able to afford to move us. The news said it will take Calgary 10 years to recover, and $1B to repair the damage caused in all the communities and downtown.
So, bad as it is, there are some.....dare I say it..... good things that happened from a disaster of mega proportions........
Glad you behaved "M"..must be the humidity, don't ever remember the mosquito's being so many in numbers.
Well I for one am glad there is a ray of sunshine Susan in this disaster..not worrying about being relocated re sale of the park will allow you to get on with your life..hurrah
yeah, it's horrible to think that out of this disaster..... may come some sunlight.
Only hope others can find their sunlight in this.
It may be that they find new friends, or discover whom they can count on when the "chips are down".
hi, can I join this group because I learned something today
what I learned today
I bam a bad mothers. took kids to vet for check ups, allergy shots and nails. muffins nail were so long one curled under so far, it embedded in his skin. it had to be cut and pulled out then cleaned.
now i'm even more depressed that I let that happen to one of my babies
Was muffin limping, complaining? Was it infected? If not, ease up on yourself. Anyway, it's better now, right. So feel good about getting them to the vet and getting it taken care of.
I feel like I have asthma. It's still la Grippe I caught while on the road. I have very little energy and I have a yukky sounding cough but I'm better each day. I know Tony is worried. I'm not, just mostly staying bed and getting better.
It's hot and humid here. Insulation in bedroom is about half done and I found a bunch of cans of spray insulation with which to fill any cracks left after the blocks of foam are installed. Should be done by the end of the week.
Susan, glad you are home safe and don't have to worry about moving.
hugs, katie
Oh JordonKitty...do NOT feel bad. Have done that with the dog, and also pet rabbits. They don't tell us everything!!!
Do not be so hard on yourself, it is all better and will heal now!
thanks, but I feel just terrible. told them next time they better tell me
Hey Susan, that is great news that you don't have to move!
Kathy, I think most of us have done that, we don't realize what is going on! At least you caught it now, and it is all fixed!
lol Kathy - I hope they DO tell u next time, maybe u won't be so hard on urself!!
LK - nothing has been confirmed - just that, with the cost of the repair, cleanup, etc, with a starting budget of $1B, I can't see them being able to handle the cost of $10k per home for power and sewer hookups in another community (ground hasn't even been broken yet) plus the cost of moving 180+ homes to the new area.
They were saying it wasn't financially feasible before..... now how much less so when they have this new cost has presented itself......
Why do they have to move the park, why not have them give each of you that 10K so you all can improve your trailers?
Hi there all of you dear people.......I have been really sick since February, and it's gotten worse instead of better....I had a drug overdose due to the combination of anti nausea meds, pain meds :& my liver not working properly....ended up in the hospital for 3 days, very narrowly missed dying if my husband hadn't recognized what was going on & got me to the emergency.....was told by two urologists I had bladder cancer which after a biopsy turned out not true....after another dr appt this morning I'm being set up with a immune dr in Moscow.....I'm tired, crabby, hurting and lazy....just can't find a spark....got out of the hospital on Thursday pm on the following Tuesday we headed for 2 1/2 week trip to see our grandson graduate in Reno NV, down to CA to visit friends & our son & his family, then took the coast hiway up to Florence and over to home.I need to find the time to read all of your interesting posts but I'm so far behind on everything I can barely squeeze in anything extra.....I want to catch up with all of you, I miss you......just wanted you to know why I haven't been on here....this picture is my maternal Grandmother's friendship quilt which is on display in the Florence OR museum.....my family was some of the early settlers there and I've wanted to see the museum for so long.....they have a whole portion dedicated to the Funke family.....
Evening all,
Kathy, hugs..am sure Muffin is already cuddled next to you trying to make you feel better..
Tony has every reason to be concerned Katie, you've been unwell for sometime..you did feel better stateside though, could it be something in the area that is making you unwell. once all the insulation is done it will be much cooler in the house..don't know how you gals in the far south manage..few days in this heat and I'm all in, just laying on the couch doing nothing.
Debbie, is your bp down now that you've had a quiet day..going back to sitting, did they really ask you to do it all summer? what does Paul think of this
Susan it's ok to do the happy dance, truly is..you love where you are! How many days did Bob miss work? guess very few got to go to work with all the flooding, roads closed etc.
Got home and found a rocker on the front deck and boxes on back deck..Darlene was here and dropped them off..saw the rocker and thought oh no, I've absolutely no place for it but then a few minutes ago June called and said it was for her, thank goodness, not even sure what I shall do with all the crafts materials, I need to purge not increase my stock.
Glad I had a good lunch, too hot to cook!! Am trying to stay away from the couch though, very unproductive and I get 3 or 4 hours of sleep in then walk the floors half the night.
Waiting for Greg to call, apparently the school only gave each graduate of grade 12 gets 4 tickets to see their loved one one graduate Thursday evening as well, what happened to grandparents, it's a special time for them !
Know the school can only hold so many, do it in 2 groups if you have to. Greg said Mel had a line on a few tickets so we shall see. Imagine my Kyle graduating.
Normally t.v. bingo night, Ann just call, leaving for the city again, she is totally exhausted so won't take time to play tonight.
Oh Deb, we did miss you and were terribly worried..we will have to get your telephone number so when something such as this happens we will know how to reach you/hubby!
OMG, kind of good news/bad news isn't it..thank goodness not cancer, why would they have told you such a thing. You have every right to feel crabby, that is a lot to go through. Hopefully this new doctor will be able to get you feeling like yourself, back on your feet and feeling like taking on the world. Thank goodness for your hubby being alert, heavens that is a close call.
What a beautiful quilt and what an honor to be in the museum, any idea what year it was made? what a treasure and how blessed they are to get it for display.
The year was the 1930's that the blocks were done but it wasn't quilted until the 2000's.....that's when the center portrait of my Grama was added.....right now I am going to the hospital every day for a shot of Rocephin and starting Thursday I begin a 6 week stint of an infusion into my bladder once a week over in Clarkston WA....My husband is a retired police officer from Sacramento CA so he recognized a drug overdose.....
Betty, sure wish I was closer to help you purge some of those craft items!
Hey Debbie, glad you found us again! And so glad to hear you do not have caner! Shame on those Dr.'s for telling you that!
Hope you find some answers to what is going on soon!
OMG! sure am glad you hubby knew the signs. I think sometimes with all the pain killers, and happy pills, and sleeping pills the dr. gives me, I might overdose. she gave me sleeping pills that made me hallucinate one nite. the next nite I had severe nitemares. I threw them babies away, and started klonapin, and ambien to sleep
Imagine, 70 years in the making..who did the quilting Deb?
You will feel like a pin cushion Deb..worth it to get back on the road to recovery. Am sure it's overwhelming though.
Kathy, guess we all have to be vigilant as to the drugs we are given. Sometimes they just mask the pain but don't help.
lindaKay, wish you did as well and I'd gladly share. Not sure what is out there, will go look in a bit.
I would not be fibbing if I said the shelved in cutting room have about 50 or so pieces of wood to be painted and here I get more. There is also a few kits for walking stones..guess I could do those when I've nothing to do
Should be now because here I sit with Paula Jhung's book of 'how to avoid housework.
.organizing for everlasting ease and efficiency
.decorating for camouflage
.building and remodeling to save time and money
Can you get any more bored than that? Lol

Very handsome looking couple Deb, Lordy they did not live long did they! Hard lives back then
Debbie - what an ordeal! and so scary...........
Betty - it's not a case of improving the trailers - unlike homes with basements, the sewer and water lines are in our streets, and the City says they're too archaic to hold up. This flood in our city seems to say otherwise - we had NO flooding in our area......
And, the City wants to get out of being landlords to a trailer park, so they want to move us and sell the property to a developer - more $$ in that......
Then, after a year of us being in the new area, they would sell the park to a private concern and get out of owning this trailer park........
Some of the trailers are brand new, or only 5 years old. I see the older ones (from the '60's) being moved out and torn down. That's likely because the same owner had them since then, and passed away or went to a care facility.
We won't know for sure until sometime in Sept after their "in camera" meeting of the City Council what is going to happen. I would think that the City would not want the added expense of moving us, on top of the flood damage repair......... but we don't know.
I agree, Deb - only 38 and 48 years old.......... and they are a handsome couple!
Love those old picture, glad to see you have photo's of them.
Susan, I want to be there with you !!!!!
1. If you look Really closely, you'll see a young moose sitting down... little buds for his antlers..
2. Anyone know what this flower is? It made me think of fire...... with little tendrils shooting out
3. How about this flower grouping? No idea what it is......
4. snow disappearing, and the bright green is coming back
5. when I saw these tiny leaves, I thought of Fairy Rings, because they would tendril off into little rows ... and circle back
Helicopters started to arrive, to evacuate people who were out of meds, because they had to stay - we were told on Thursday that we couldn't leave, and some had slated TO leave then..... bad timing.
1. Army helicopter "bird in the air"!
2. Chipmunk by the side of the road, eating dandelion greens - we went for a short walk to see a lake, overshot, and ended up walking 6 miles.... this little fella was near the end of our walk.
3. That afternoon, when we returned, we saw an army helicopter pilot and chatted with him a bit. Very nice.
4. Here's one of the army helicopters - takes 18 passengers..
5. He's heading off to get ready to go
Medi-vac of people who needed to get back for medication
1. Mayfair Care Center van
2. Sat midnight - our fellow camper, Colin, was on the bus with us, waiting to board the helicopter - unfortunately the pilots "ran out of hours" just as we were supposed to board, and we had to head back to the motor home......
3. 8am Sunday, waiting by the side of the road for the ride back to board the helicopter - Bob & I
4. Gathered at William Watson Lodge across the highway, waiting to be chosen to go on a helicopter
5. Lovely lodge, and beautiful weather!!
Sounds like quite the adventure Susan. So happy that all ended well for you and Bob. Lovely area for a vacation.
1. This is the helicopter that I rode - the bus took us here, as close as they could get, before the mudslides.....
2. One of our pilots - we had private helicopters and pilots, because the army was re-deployed....
3. This is not only the group I shared the ride with (Bob was on the next helicopter, and I had to leave him behind at the Lodge :-( ), but they were also the family that gave us a ride home when we walked the 6 miles away from the camp on one of our "outings" (see previous post). Shortie me is out in front lol
4. And we're OFF!
5. Flooding over the roadways....
