I will, thanks.
SWEET INTERRUPTIONS # 259
Susan, sometimes we're our own worse critic! So, don't dwell too much on that interview. You know you've given your best, and let the Lord decide :)
Yes, in the meantime, do as LK says.. think positive!
Marion, poor you!!! Finally able to move around a bit in your garden, and poison ivy had to greet you!!
Just hope you won't get an infection from it.
Okay.. I'll try to go to bed now. Kel's been disrupting my slumber with his farts :D
Morning everyone!
Jaye, sure hope you get some sleep?
Lk, I might be wrong but you should cut those blooms off as they suck the energy from the plant and they won't grow as well. Might need to check more info to make sure.
Jaye - I have given it to the Lord...
Marion - that would be like hostas, right? Plant is more important than the flower.....?!?!
Thanks Marion, I will check into that!
How is the poison ivy rash doing this morning?

I haven't heard that about hosta Susan but it could be. In fact, I am not sure about the caladiums, it is always what I have been told to do.
LK, the poison ivy is just going to have to run it's course.....usually 2-3 weeks. Thankfully it hasn't spread. I found out yesterday that the fluid in the blisters do not spread it but the oils from the plant before you get it washed really good. Why we are told to bath as soon as you suspect you have come in contact with the stuff.
Unfortunate things is I might have to get rid of one of my hose as it was coiled up in the middle of the growth. Cheaper and safer than having this all the time.
Oh, I was always told it was the popped blisters that made it spread. Mom always made a paste of baking soda and water.
I had heard that all my life too LK. The pharmacist told me differently. It appears the oils from the plant can stick around a while is why it is so important to wash and put some type of drying med on the area. Live and learn.
Am back!! Had to bring our blind "Possum" to the vet. It was funny to see a cat in this humongous pet carrier fit for a Great Dane!!
We tried to move Possum into a regular cat carrier, and he kept struggling in the cage! So with plenty of room, he's less nervous.
I always thought calamine to the rescue, Marion! Learn something new everyday.
WIth mosquitoe bites, I was told the best relief for itch is to take a shower! That worked for me... but then, poison ivy's a different animal!
I was told to keep calamine on it after I showered really well. I now look like a large pepto bismol flamingo....where if flamingo Kim when we need her? LOL I was very surprised when the pharmacist told me that yesterday. Also recommended cortisone cream.
I've heard that about the oils spreading the itch
Jaye, did give Joyce your best and hugs..she is now back on your side of the border..
we had a lovely visit..don't want to saturate your thread with photo's but if you care to see what fun we had, come see about my last 20 or 30 posts with photo's..
missed you!

Jaye, what was wrong with possum? Praying it is nothing serious?
:-) He didn't know how to play dead.
LOL!
Morning everyone! Woke up this morning to loud thunder and rain! Sure feels good right now! 67 degree's and a nice rain!
Hey Cody! How are you doing?
Cindy, we heard on the news that north California had a 5.7 earthquake. Hope your OK!
Betty, you gave the girls a grand tour, fit for foreign dignitaries! And besides tours, you gave them some therapeutic art lessons. What a memorable visit Cookie and company had.
By the way, I was rooting for the Blue Jays against the Braves (early 90s World Series final)... won some $$$ too, when the underdogs won! :D
Marion, you're too much!!
Named him that as possums have bad eyesight. When Kel rescued him, both eyes were badly infected and he's been with us for 2 years now, know every nook and corner and his hearing and olfactory senses make up for his eyesight.
BUT, he's the only male in the house not neutered. Lately, he's been fighting with the other males and marking his scent everywhere.
Invest in Lysol sistahs.. I've been buying cases just to neutralize the house!!
Didn't know about the earthquake, LK. Sure hope Pegi and Cindy aren't affected.
Cody!! Good to see you gal. How's the weather in Louisiana? Have you planted any roses yet?
Sis Kathy, hope the visit with the dermatologist was good for Michael.
I took advantage of some sunshine yesterday and weeded. Quit when it started to rain.
Had a splitting headache from not using a hat, and allergies hit me last night.
Will just have to remember to do what Thunder does. Take them Benadryl before I'm right in the middle of weeds!!

My? Now what have I done? :-)
Well today marks the end of 26 years teaching for Kim. Where did the time go? She is already starting to miss some of this years students.....had great classes for a change. Now it is time to start getting ready for her trip to the Domician Republic for 2 intensive weeks of classes. I think the term "professional student" applies to her.
Not much else going home here...hot, hot, hot!! Oh, do have a "date" tonight with the younger members of the family.
Good Morning Ladies,
Yup LK, turned on the TV and that was the first thing on the news............I was sound asleep when it happened, lol. But my friend Jenny in Chico felt it really good.
I was putting 2nd stepping stone in the ground yesterday...and a corner broke off :( put it in anyways. I think I got a bad bag of cement. The first one took real good, the 2nd one didn't set at all, the third one corner broke off, then yestrday while mixing up another batch it just didn't look right. Went ahead and pored it anyways, will see what mess I have this afternoon, lol Also found out transplanting Zinnas is not any easy task. Next time seeds go directly into the ground.
Some happy news, Doug got a part time job cooking at a bar and grill. He told the guy he only wants 15 hrs a week. Well he may get more than that this week, we have a rodeo going on this weekend. I was amazed at how much he can earn and still collect SSDI. Makes me think about getting a job thru the winter..........
26 years! Congratulations Kim. You are indeed qualified to write a SOP book for future educators!
Another tropical paradise, and you can't go with her, Marion. What a shame!
What did you have planned for this evening's date with the young ladies? Some JD movies, perhaps?
Cindy, I think if you're on SSDI, you're allowed pt work as long as you don't exceed a certain amount. Don't know whether that ceiling differs from state to state. Check with the office.
Nope, no JD movie tonight. The girls want to see Epic so I guess we will brave the opening night crowds for them. Tough job but someone has to do it. :-) First we will have dinner somewhere.....it looks like it might be Sonny's bar b que.
Sad isn't it about not my being able to go with Kim this trip but someone has to take care of the 4 legged children. Guess who is elected to do that.....won't be bad as I can spend time painted the newly plaster walls and then moving things into the dungeon rather than "throwing" them in there.
Well, best get offline, and get packed for camping - going to pick Bob up this aft, from work, then into the motorhome and we're OFF!!
Will be back sometime Sunday.
It's raining now, and promises to rain HARD this weekend, where we're going. Heck, it's raining here, now... good thing Bob brought the motorhome next to the house, so I can load it easily.
Now, to put a raincoat on and gather stuff together lol
Yes Jaye, you're right, and Doug already went to SSA and they explained everything to him...will be a super duper big help. But like I said hope his body is able to take it.....
ok, michaels "thingy" is benign. the dr. froze it. called it a barnacle. there is a technical name for it, but he said it might come back. he called it old folks barnacle.
the lawnmower just threw a rock threw my storm door, it went threw the living room in to the kitchen, glas everywhere in 2 rooms
Kathy, that is great news about Michael! Must be a big relief on your part? Sorry about the broken glass, hope no one got hurt?
Love the gardens Cindy! Love that hummer picture!
Great pics Cindy. You really are doing a bang up job. Jaye, Cindy lives in Northern
Ca. and I live in Southern Ca. and we didn't even know there was an earthquake. They always talk about the big one that is coming. Hope it never happens in my lifetime.
Did a few jobs around here today, you would think I had been working for hours the way I move around now. Need to clean out the flower beds in the front. Biggest chore was giving my Sami a bath. Boy, does she hate water. I'm trying to cut out the matted hair on her chubby body and she doesn't like that either. Time she had a summer haircut too. Didn't get my plants re-potted either, guess I'm going to have to make a list and get one job done at a time. Attention span HAS to last longer.
Good morning sistahs.
Sis Kathy, that's good to know it's nothing serious. Just something some of us get with old age! It's like a crust on your skin, and my sister has that. Her doctor gave her glycolic acid to apply to the crust, so with time, it will soften the dead skin cells and eventually come off easily.
Your little garden's so pretty Cindy. Congrats on attracting a hummer. None here yet.
I must remember, you're in the south and Cindy's opposite, Pegi!
I've been taking advantage of whatever sunshine, just to weed a few minutes at a time.
Yesterday, it was tackling a daylily at a time!! Lolol. Still using the hedge trimmer, as I can't win in the battle of dandelions that will shoot up after the rains.
And here I am Pegi.. with so much to do and not getting help.. I am still adding more plants!
What happened to my commonsense!!
Oh well Cody. Stick to a simple life. Don't be like me, asking for punishment. Just enjoy blooms via pictures.
Hugs to everyone. I'm off weeding!
I'm off shopping! Need to get some more poison ivy killer, trip to a new nursery I discovered about 4 miles from our house, shopping for food and litter for the 4 legged children then home and relax!
What a great night we had with the girls last night. It is scary though as Abbigail is only 1" shorter than I am now!!!! Did a spur of the moment movie with them and really enjoyed it. If you get a chance see "Epic". Great special effects and a cute story line.
Marion
Poison ivy killer
1 gallon vinegar
1 cup sugar
2 tablespoons of blue dawn dish soap
put in a spray bottle and spray away..make sure you don't spray your flowers/plants/shrubs though as they will die as well
It is definitely on my to-do list today, re-potting some plants. I always find excuses and go on to something else. Now that we have the air compressor back in the garage where it belongs I now have a clean space outside my back door. Perfect place to set a couple plants that need shade. Cindy is doing such a great job with her little garden area and she is inspiring me to get my space looking better. Trying to stick with one section at a time is hard to do, have to try a little harder.
LOL yup Pegi you're right!!! I bounced back and forth between my little flower to the side garden where my strawberries and wildflowers are growing, to the back yard where tomaotes and herb garden growing and to make stepping stones
Cindy , Your garden is wonderful ^_^ I love the red and white ornament ? I bet you made it??? Is it a bird bath??
Jaye, I was astonished at all of the dandelions every where all over NC !!!
Noted that Marion.. will wait on Netflix. I thought I'm the tallest one in my family.. but now I'm just a dwarf, compared to my nieces and nephews!
Cindy, you're always into herbs. So what herbs will you be sprouting this year?
Wonder if I could concoct that for the weeds Betty? I hate using commercial poison.
Thunder, so it won't surprise you if I were to tell you that I have dandelions taller than me!! I think it's the nature of the soil we have. Anything good for growing tobacco will be good for the dandelions.
Cody.. you are actually saving a lot of heartaches come winter by having those plants indoors. You're good with seeds gal!!
These are a couple that Cody had grown from seeds... ^_^
