getting smarter LindaKay, won't do it myself!

noticed the rhubbarb leaves are wilting a tad even though they are in water so will go to atlas block early tomorrow morning and pick up a 3 or 4 bags of cement and get them done..cold or not besides I want to cook up the rhubbard lol

I've been out and in, out and in for the past hour..as soon as I feel chilled I come in to warm up..likely by this afternoon when Kyle bring me gas on his way home from work I can get the grass cut and be ahead of the game..

Church plant sale tomorrow so am digging up an area just incase

Waving!!! Here I am! Well, trip did take a little longer. Rain slows things up some. Had it off and on most of the day. Got to the Columbus area a little before six and decided to eat at the Texas Roadhouse. Of course, you know that takes some time. Got to Kathy's house a little before 9. I left the keys in the ignition, my shoes on the floor, my purse inside, my cell phone inside. I'm unloading the trunk getting most of Kathy's things out. Sherry was inside using potty, Kathy was beside me. I hear this chirp sound....I look at Kathy and say what was that? It sounded like the horn when the door is locking. Check my pocket to see if I accidently hit the key fob and locked the door...no... it's in the lock inside the car...oh well....Kathy is all unloaded....I hand Sherry her jacket from the back seat, close the door, hug Kathy goodbye...go to get in the car and ALL 4 DOORS ARE LOCKED!!!!! Oh crap. Call Bill on Kathy's phone, he doesn't answer, doesn't recognize the number...finally after about the 10th time he answers. He says AAA can get there faster than I can, so we use Kathy's card, cause mine of course is INSIDE THE friggin car!! They say they will be there in about 40 minutes. 40 minutes comes and goes...shortly after they call and say another 10-15 minutes. So in about 10 he shows and it takes maybe 15 minutes to get it open. Then on to drop Sherry off and unload her stuff. By the time I get home and take my bags from the car (only those) it's well after 11 and I'm too pooped to pop.

Got up this morning thinking I'll go post right away so everyone knows we made it home and had such a lovely time. Already talking about our next trip up.... ^_^ but then I remember that little girl White Water Acanthus is still in the trunk and the sun is shining on it. So I grab a cuppa and head out to rescue her...well, of course I spent the next 2 hours just looking at all the color and weeds that have emerged since we left. So here I am...finally. Since Betty is going to call me at 1 or 2, I will stop here and post so she knows I'm okay.

I'm sure you can tell by the pictures what a wonderful time we had!

Isn't Betty just the best hostess? She really puts her guests first and shows them as much as she can in the time allowed. I'm really glad you all had such a good time. And that you are all home safely. We will forget about the keys!!!

Glad to hear you arrived home safely Cookie. Albeit with some extra unplanned activities.......sounds like things I would do. :-)
Lady, before you head back to Canada, you had better plan a trip south as in just south of the Florida/Georgia line!!!!

To hot to work outside so trying to get caught up on all the laundry....I never do Kim's but today I did so we won't have that going when all the workman are here.

Still don't know what made the car lock. The keys were in the ignition and no one was around. My DD, Lisa said she thinks it was my folks locking it to keep us from getting in an accident....sounds good to me!

Betty, as some of you know personally, is the best host. She made us all feel so special and welcome. We had more laughs than I can count. She stops at head shop to ask directions....I tell her what it is and she says well, it's a shop isn't it? So in she goes...after getting directions, she points at a plant and asks if it's a marijuana plant...they say no......it's a dollar plant! Course she doesn't know what pot looks like so she doesn't know if they're telling the truth or not! Then they all want to know how I know this stuff!!!! I bet most of you know, don't you??????

The border guy was nice...why were you here? I said vacation. He said how long? I said a week. He said what did you bring back? I said souvenirs. He said have a nice day. So.....I didn't even have to lie! I did bring back souvenirs!

I'll try to charge the camera on the computer. I've lost my charger...drats, I didn't take one picture while we were gone, but the other 3 did get quite good ones. My rocks are all amazing...as I recall Debbie laughed at me when we were there last year cause I kept rocking every place we went!!! Can't help it, it's an addiction!

Betty made wonderful meals even though we told her not to cook. She made chicken and "sliders"...yum. Greg came the next day to get the leftovers (even though we didn't leave much left over!!!)

Mushroom classes went well, except that the rain made the hypertufa swell and there was some difficulty getting them out of their containers. They know the process now and Betty says there will be mushrooms on every lawn when we come again!

Bill's Dad is still hanging in there. He looks so gaunt and doesn't want to eat much. He just mumbles and no one can tell what he's trying to say. It's so sad. Bill says it's so tiring going there. He's not telling me anything I don't know.....9 months watching my mother die....

Betty, thank you once again for your welcoming home. We all three talked about how nice you were to us on the way home. Sherry said about 5 hours in to the trip....I miss Betty....we both agreed with her, we missed you, too!

So glad to see you post Joyce, wondered what had happened..I'll not call now that I know you are ok..know you are on a mission to pull weeks and find a home for the illegal immigrant (plant) lol

I've yet to have company and not be thrilled with them taking time to visit me so do try and make all attempts to please..as I always say 'if they didn't enjoy themselves it wasn't because I didn't try'

see you left one day too early, not only because of the rain/locking the doors but the birdbath came out just fine..you could have squeezed that piece into your car had you waited, now I will enjoy it.

I just came in Joyce from digging up the two goats beard, working an area and planting them..would imagine if they do ok it will almost seem as thought you are walking into another flower room..do hope it works..

also have the weeping willow pea tree/shrub planted and my first run at picking up slate..by the way after making a special trip to canadian tire for a charger and Greg coming to put the charger on the battery wasn't dead at all, he thinks Cathy didn't sit on it with clutch it to start it sooo i will be cutting tonight.

yep, need to find me a marijuana plant just so I can see if that young man was lying to me or not..lol

waving and tell the girls missing them as well..very quiet here, even the furries are sleeping with no one to give them treats

Riley is resting so she can go to the cottage this evening

Girls, Joyce will attest to this..Riley left Friday and didn't come back till Tuesday early morning (monday was our long weekend)..every Friday in spring/summer/fall she leaves Friday and comes home after the weekend..someone who cottages must take her in and spoil her..likely her treat is not being in same room as Missy as they sure don't take to each other

wonder where our new gals went, maybe we (mostly I) scared them off..sure hope all is well with them..


big trouble here, Cathy brought me chocolates from Esther Price, each and every time I come in I eat one, ok maybe 2 and now there are only 2 left... wearing a sad face

for more allergy testing on Tuesday....I can't take anything. Paul told me maybe i need a shot of his "antique" peach brandy. I think not...lol He had it
since before we were married...his Dad made it! lol

Been walking around looking for a form to make mushroom stems and no can find, would go out looking but Kyle has my wheels..

Getting desperate, think I will take a spoon and go digging in the driveway, make my own stems. Lol. My teacher Joyce said it should work but do I have enough energy?

Betty go to the Dollar store...they have an amazing array of things to make stuff like mushroom stems. I saw some crystal looking mushrooms
made out of Dollar tree bowls and vases.

I've checked all around here before Joyce came, will look for garage sales tomorrow

Kyle brought me gas for my lawnmower and is out cutting grass..told him I'd do it tomorrow..it's Friday night, he is 17 and he's cutting grandma's gas..not the thing for young man to be doing!

I doubt that the store environment would be good for the plants unless there was a grow set up with lights....but I honestly have no idea what the laws are governing that.....the whole process is still a bit new and it is still illegal to grow marijuana in the US....lots of fine points left to be hashed out....grin

been trying to get a cement stem out of 2 vases, Joyce left them because we had trouble with them and I tugged and pulled, then lifting the birdbath out of its hole, piece of flat stone for top of the waterfall unit and shoulder is giving me the whatfor, might have to ask dr. for prescription re pain lol now wouldn't that be something.

You all have me chuckling... Debbie I can't see DD for the cat LOL... Joyce's trip and key fiasco.... JEAN! got that pun.... Debbie I've never heard of George Strait for a hurt shoulder but will definitely have to try it !

It's been a rough week I won't lie. A "Friend" of mine at work back stabbed me with witchy... We all take buddies for times we are on vacation. My buddy is a good old friend... but she has 4 weeks vacation. I have 2. the other "Friend" called me in witchy's office and they told me I had to cover for her also next week. On top of that... her "Buddy" is on maternity so I'm covering now for both of them next week on top of the other 4.

Dad used to say "With friends like that you don't need enemies." Good thing today... I had organized a get together for an old group from the radio station (Jean - Kajun 103) a few people are in town for a big country music concert and that lunch was a good time.

Betty I can't wait for the day I can come visit you.... good times.... hope your weather and Dianne's take a turn for the better....

Surely Mary you can't be expected to almost run the entire department on your own.. It's no wonder many people don't put a lot of faith in friendships, these days it's almost as though it's every man for themselves! When one finds a true friend they should cherish them to the end of time. Wonderful with all this going on you got to enjoy some quality time with Jean.

Sun and blue sky but Brrr it's 41 out there, not stopping the birdies from chirping, maybe it's their way of warming up lol

They had frost warning for last night and tonight..had thought I would buy my annuals to make up containers and get hanging baskets while in town this morning but with this crazy weather I think I will pass.

Plant sale this morning, will go support the church, my annual donation to their fund raising efforts then into town. Passing the quarry so will pick up some slate and Ann has some rock to get rid of so I just might get that smaller pond done this weekend. Grass is cut so one less chore..Kyle said he enjoyed the rider, who knows, I might have a permanent grass cutter.

It is rainy, cold and windy here too. We aren't supposed to see the sun until Monday and then only if we are lucky!!! This is the weekend when all the camp owners usually come up to open their camps. It is a big money maker for the state and I can't see it happening this year!!! It will be a stay in and stay warm weekend for sure.

Mary, I am a firm believer that what goes around comes around. Witchypoo will get her just deserves in one form or another. And also the "friend" as well.
People like that are users and eventually they get taken. I would just take one job at a time and if it all doesn't get done - oh well. Management should have planned better. Or should I say management should have planned.....

Well, we are in San Antonio, but the game was called due to rain, rescheduled for this morning, but we are under severe weather warnings, with more rain and thunder, so it will most likely get cancelled too! We all had dinner at TGIF last night and had a good time! So as soon as the rain clears a nit, we will get things packed up and head back home!

Off to the RU in Cincinnati. Sherry and Kathy are joining us today and Sue will be here shortly. We should have a grand time...always wonderful food and companionship!

back in record time, marked my stops and got all done in 3 hrs..yipppeeee, even got some treasures to boot at good prices


I was the first one at the plant sale, came home with 50 plants..a lot of phlox, few white bleeding hearts, about 6 astilbe's, few hosta's and just misc plants, now to find a place to plant them..I'll get out in the garden tomorrow and really put my heart into weeding and getting some structure ..will be the first time weeding other than a few hand fulls as I quickly pass by

NOT that I was looking for a sewing machine but there was a singer for $25, lets hope it works..thought I'd collect a few and when I retire can teach some little ones basics..if nothing else it had a spool of black thread on it lol

Joyce, you will be proud of me..went to a few garage sales and dollar store and found some containers for mushrooms then a lightbulb went off..drats why couldn't it have happened before I went shopping, remembered a re-use it store that never has much, well they had 50% of lighting, there were all kinds of glass lamp shades..shades only, asked if it qualified for the discount, yep so ended up with about 20 good molds..was excited about that but then it doesn't take much to excite me does it??? LOL

Then dropped into the quarry, bought about 12 pieces of slate for $20..a start for sure..off to walmart for soil to level the pond

now where do I start, should really be getting a ladder out and washing windows..hmm won't let my mind go there

Joyce, did my 1st load getting those rocks from Ann, 3 more loads ought to do it..levelled pond, used up slate now I'll have to be patient, pick up slate each time I go to town..

made some stems and put a few stems in mushroom caps..will drive in tomorrow to get pearlite and vermiculite and make caps for the 6 stems I made..not that I don't have enough to do but I made a light mixture and put it in a rubber glove,well see the outcome..lol

Now young Noah up the street comes, wants to do more edging..how long do you want me to work he asks..
about an entire week would do..smile..


was 4:10 when he arrived, we'll see how long he lasts

Just back from a quick trip into the village. I feel so bad for the tourists and businesses........ you could shoot a cannon down the main street and not hit a soul. There is no one here. Being a community that makes its living from the tourist industry this is not a good sign. Even the campgrounds have sites for rent. That's unheard of on this weekend.

Did my good deed for the day earlier. A young couple who live on the lane are having a BBQ for their kids' football team. They expected approx 50 people. There is no way all of those people especially 30 - 35 kids under age of 10 could fit in their house. I offered them our 2 show tents (about 10 x 10),an older tent they could BBQ in plus our propane heaters to heat them. You should have seen the look of relief on their faces. Tents are up, Jim got propane so the heaters are good to go so I hope they have a great time. They invited me down when they were going to BBQ but I passed on the invite.Think I can pass on being around all of those overly excited kids.lol

It is so cold here there is not 1 boat on the lake. I still have the wood stove going. Hope Susan gets a break in the weather on her camping trip. At least she is not in a tent this year.

Oh I am bad! Betty, it is a "toss up" who bought the most plants today. I loaded up with sun impatiens and coleus. Found a really nice varigated Soloman's Seal and some walking iris. Guess I know what I will be doing for the next few days...to hot right now.

It is so chilly and damp here I can't even get excited about buying bedding plants. Part of me is itching to get in the dirt, but my hands don't do well in the cold. I did buy some hanging plants for the lakeside deck last weekend. Had to bring them in at night but to have the colour I don't mind. Cats are in seventh heaven playing with the plants all night. I covered them with a sheet to keep Streak from eating them but I found him sound asleep under the sheet, all wrapped around one of the pots.

Marian I know that steep hill in London, walked it several times myself. We didn't give that climb a second thought back then did we? Grin. Is Kim feeling better?

Betty have you had a hot soak yet? What did you order for dinner? I have fresh cheese curd. lol Nice and healthy.

Wonder how Depsi is feeling? Been sending her positive thoughts this week. Hope she is up to checking in soon.

Where's Debbie today? Hope everything is OK in Lyndonville. I actually saw your town on the weather map on last night's 11 pm news Debbie.

Think Dianne we should have more random acts of kindness day don't you..am sure the tents and heater will be a blessing. I was in town much too early today to see if there were tourists around..am sure everyone is hurting in the industry..to make matters worse water level sure is hurting marina's..will be good for boat mechanics though, they will have a zillion props ans bottom end repair..Foxy Lady will have to be a lawn ornament unless Greg or Jeff puts her in.

How was you walk with Diesel..have you got that Firestone going? Going to put fireplace on and find myself a rag quilt and cuddle with furries..won't until my little gardener leaves!

Told me he needs handlebars for his bike, gave him $15 and said he would have to come tomorrow and earn he rest..tempted to give him the other $10 in advance but did learn my lesson last year lol. He left happy, now let's see if he comes tomorrow.

I was looking for those hip wanders to get in out of pond, he told me Walmart had them ..the $49.99 pair were right next to the $99.99 pair he says..he recommends cheaper for what I need..cute kid to have even thought of me

He just picked up me supper before leaving for home, I've soaked, will eat and do nothing..not often you hear me say I'm tired but the heavy lifting today has done me in big time but I'm glad it's done.

Joyce and the girls were saying my garden was growing as they watched..can't believe in two days since they've left how much more it has filled up

Not sure Depsi had someone who could post an update for her..sure hope she is able to..positive thoughts and prayers going her way along with yours Dianne.

Wow wind is something else..guess I'd better bring those Perrenials in..

I've decided just as you have not to get my hanging baskets and fillers until June, who knows maybe not even then.
