Glad you had a safe trip Thunder and that all is well with the kids - big and small.....
Best/Worse/What did I learn today? Chat with friends
Taking a quick sec to drop in with a hi
Busy isn't quite the word, so laughing, I took a break this a.m.and went to Gail and Ken's stained glass studio (both of them were here to do the mushrooms) girls all spent $$$ including me, I ended up with a toured for a stained glass piece I will do for Suzanne and Lenny for Christmas.
Girls loved the jewelery that Gail had, Cherri ended up with the loveliest pendant, earrings for Cathy and Joyce ended up with maple syrop, beautiful stained glass garden piece so when we got back here we decided to get the kiln out, get the supplies needed and each are doing, done, jewelery..they sat down and said finally, get a few hours of rest before everyone comes to take the mushrooms out if their molds..no sooner said that telephone rang, Ann wanting them to go over for a bit..I'm firing the kiln so stayed behind..
Susan how did you make out today, Thunder, for sure you will miss the kids, did you ever put that baby down??
Debbie,Deb how are you both doing
To everyone else I'm sending hugs
Gee whiz tomorrow the girls have been here a week, all can go home saying they've seen a lot of Ontario, done a lot, crafting included..their floor mats are fabulous
Not sure what time they are leaving tomorrow, long drive home for them
If they haven't enjoyed themselves it wasn't my fault
Best I go turn up the kiln
Head's pounding..... interview started ok, but I don't feel I did well enuff for what they wanted.
it was a woman from HR, John (potential boss) and Don (HIS boss). Intense, hard-hitting, and high pressure questions. Cuz they said it was a high pressure job, I guess they wanted to test me. And test me they did...... 3/4 hour, with intense questions about behaviour and "what would you do in this situation" stuff (t's a BDI - Behaviour Development Interview). Those are usually tough, but this was "ramped up"......
They'll let me know my standing by end of the week. After being told I was one of two being considered, they now are saying they may "re-visit" previous applicants. Sounds like they didn't find what they wanted, in me. Still, I may be harder on myself than I should be, but it didn't "feel" good.
Susan, if it didn't feel good....and you didn't like "their vibes" I wonder how comfortable you would be working for them.
It may be a blessing you see this side before accepting a job....especially with the woman. You have not liked that in the past.
Hugs, rest up and you did your best for that situation!
I wouldn't be working for the woman - she was there as part of the interview process.
It wasn't that I didn't like their "vibes". I think they were testing me for a high pressure job. I don't usually work in high pressure jobs though. I work in busy jobs, but not the pressure. Not that I couldn't, but it's not my experience. Mind you, my def of high pressure isn't someone else's. When I was in my 20's, I was a call-center manager (only one) and one day when I was off-work (it was a 7 day, 2x 8hr shift and I didn't work 16 hr days....) my ass't manager called all upset that there was a fire in the basement - only cement walls, no furniture or fabric, and after determining no one was injured and fire dept was called, I didn't worry. She was all panicky and mad at me for not panicking.... really MAD.
Sorry Susan, had hoped this job would pan out! Debbie is right, these people sound as though they would be hard task masters..
Girls who participated in the mushroom class just came to distressed them, all happy campers as they left..
USA gals are like Betty, not a lot of patience. Lol needed sneak preview of their jewelery..I will wait a few hours and have them put the hardware on earring and pendant.
Well, supper almost ready
Girls are thrilled with their earrings and matching pendant, turned out great..
Think I forgot to tell you about That Sharon's American Eskimo had a c section yesterday, 2 males didn't make it, the young miss is holding her own. Sharon is beside herself!
Going up to read about your week.
Dianne/Debbie how did you fare this week weather wise?
Marion did your gardener ever come?
Drats, eyes are heavy..girls are leaving tomorrow morning, I will post photo's shortly thereafter
I had too, Betty......
Oh......no u hadn't told us about Sharon's doggie........ sorry to hear 2 males didn't make it. How many, if any, survived?

Betty, all is well here. Have had some thunderstorms here and there...but over all calm.
Had a wonderful much needed surprise today with a knock on the door. Nate is home from college and just flew into my arms.
I needed that so much. He came back for dinner around 6:30....and even made Paul get up and give him hugs. Paul was just
beaming. lol He has matured so much (Nate...not Paul..no hope there).
LOL
Betty, can't wait to see all the photos of your time with the ladies!
So sorry to hear about the babies not making it! Give her hugs from us please?
Debbie, what a sweet surprise to see Nate at the door!
Yes, Betty he finally showed up and I did get him to redo something he had left undone the prior time. Unfortunately we had a talk about not coming when he said he would so he is sort of on probation at this time. We shall see how it goes.
Hot and dry here....we could use a little rain now.
HUGS Deb.... it's not lost on me these incidents with your contact with kids that you have mothered... the orchids... then Nate.... Like karma telling you you've made a HUGE impact in these kids lives....
Thank you Mary, I know you have many kids in your life that have been the same. DS has had a learning experience, he is coming around, but dang...
he sure learned the hard way. I don't think I would have lasted these last three months without the "Justin, Nates & others" in my life right now.
How is DS doing on your end?
Slow.... but hopefully coming around like with Shane....but I don't have near as much confirmation as you do... I'd be so glad to have some more ..... Girls are somewhat but not near as much.... DSD1 called and I missed it today... think she is going to tell me she landed a dance teacher job today...
HUGS
mary
Morning all,
Not so sure the sun will be out today, but it is early morning!
I've been awake and just laying here not wanting to stir, don't want to wake the ladies as they have a long way to travel. Omg Joyce has 1/2 the trunk filled with rocks so not sure how they will get their bags in..might have to make another trip. Lol
It's been such a fun week
Long weekend coming up for you all, what have you got planned? Katie, is it a long weekend for you as well?
Debbie, I'm so glad Nate came to visit. Did Shane end up visiting while here?? Sorry if I missed a post where you updated.
Maybe I shall get up and put some cinnamon rolls in the oven ..have something in their tummies before they leave
Photo's soon
Morning Betty. Todd and I are going to San Antonio Friday for one of Rory's semi final baseball games, coming back Saturday. Sunday and Monday Andy and family will come here for a few days. Gonna get out the grill and cook something. With my tummy being messed up with this diverticulitis, I have not been able to eat much. I went to a Dr. for a follow up yesterday, and I still have infection, so I have to take a different type of antibiotics for another 20 days. This lady is not happy, as we all know what antibiotics does to a female? So more meds for that problem! :(
To my surprise, I found out this morning that caladiums bloom!
Oh Linda, can you take some of the acidopolus tablets with the antibiotics? It helps prevent that problem while being on them. I use the chewables
daily and it has helped me so much.
Betty, no, Shane never made it home. However, I don't know what happened....perhaps a case of being homesick....but he calls daily now or even texts.
It isn't funny....but was eye opening and scared the heck out of him.....and I think VERY eye opening. Life wasn't as he thought it would be out in Denver.
He finally ended up ...where he thought he was having a heart attack and in the hospital. Of course, and thankfully, it was a major panic/anxiety attack.
Fast forward to last Saturday when DH and I were at the Nursery looking for plants and DH comes to get me. "Call your son immediately". So I go out and get
my phone out of the car...he had called 3 times. I had talked to him daily since he was in the hospital...so was worried. SO....he says "I don't know what to do, I missed you so much...I went and got a Toberlone (my favorite candy bar) because it reminded me of you....and it helped." Good heavens!!!
So now I talk to him a little bit every day, he has started texting his sisters and calling them....and last night DH got his first text. SO, making headway. He also got a job with a construction company doing cleaning after they build.....before people move in. Good move.
beautiful caladiums, Betty!
oh, that Shane - how sweet to get a candy bar cuz it reminds him of u, AND to tell u about it awwwww
Glad it was an anxiety attack and not something worse...
girls have left..
LindaKay, your caladiums are absolutely gorgeous, how tall will they grow?
Sorry to hear the previous meds are not working, hopefully these will..how many years since your last attack?
sounds as though you've a lovely weekend planned..
Debbie, he sure did work himself into a tizzy..bet it won't be long before he heads home to family's loving arms!
Although it worried you to death it was worth it to make him realize just how homesick he was and how great of a family he has.
so now for a few photo's
1 visit to Penetanguishene - replica ship at Naval Base
2. Wasaga Beach - picking driftwood Joyce and Cathy
3. spectacular day for the young to be enjoying North America's longest fresh water beach
4. you can walk out so far..
5. Betty, Cathy, Sheri, Joyce
Lovely pictures and way to go Cookie....finding good eye candy!
Debbie, so glad to hear he has realized he made a mistake and is now in contact with you daily! Sometime they have to learn the hard way! So glad to hear he did not have a heart attack!
Betty, the caladiums grow from 12 to 30 inches tall, it all depends on the type you get. I got 4 different types, just to fill in around the ash tree. Some like sun, some like shade. These are in full sun, 100+ tempos and they are doing good so far. I also have 4 calla lily plants in there. They have purple blooms.
Debbie, the Dr. recommended I get a pro-biotic tablet, is that what your talking about?
Love the pictures Betty, looks like the weather was good for you?
Live culture yogurt is also excellent when taking antibiotics...helps prevent yeast infections.
Linda, yes, that is what it is...and I haven't had any problem. You can't always have yogurt at hand if you are out traveling, and these little chewables
taste like orange flavored vitamin. My older two girls take them also and have felt much better.
I can't stand yogurt! Dr. told me to eat it, but I can't get that stuff to my mouth!
then off to Meaford to the Candle Factory who were actually having a tent sale..mostly wood/decorative items..Sheri decorates in Colonial so she found quite a few items..then to Meaford Warehouse..mega garden items..all walked out with something to remind them of their trip..
had a lovely lunch then Betty had a plan, why not after travelling a little over 100 miles to keep travelling to Tobermory, now that their feet were in Georgian Bay why not Lake Huron so off to travel another 100 miles or so..not bad going but we would have a long drive home, girls were up for it
1. all were amazed at how crystal clear to water was..had we been earlier we would have taken a boat tour to see the
sunken ships and Flower pot island
2. different waterfront and landscape all together
3. Tobermory town bay
4. love the rock formation, almost looked like 2 feet
5. Joyce was looking for a trailer ..needed a hitch first
What is she going to do with all the rocks?
Plans for her garden..had a great time redesigning my small pond, she left me with a to do list to finish it..one we picked a pea tree and another rose bush which I must go to Midland to pick up later today..need rocks and slate then voila, that pond should be good for years
Dampness today is doing a number, will take something and should be ready to go go go and finish the project over next few days..
Oooh that reminds me Sheri bought me a piece of metal art with hummers eating, just soo adorable..Joyce will have to post her two new fairies when they are placed in her gardens..
1. Joyce in 7th heaven having so many rocks around her..she has a rock fetish..lol other gals as well but Joyce takes 1st prize
2. we sat and enjoyed the view
3. rock formation looked like dried out old sponge
4. had to take photo of the 3 girlss with pretty view
5. everyone was in awe of the flowers that grew inside crevices..here I try to add to the earth and they die, look at this
1. Ride home wasn't so bad, stopped to see the fireworks and for many miles of us leaving we could see them through the rear view mirrors
2. I was closing in to the point that we could say we had left for an outing and came back the other day..like put in 500 miles return trip which
included side trips of the day, wouldn't let them go to bed yet, we were having a sleep over party weren't we..dipped our hands in wax to feel a bit
more relaxed before calling it a day
3. Missy was making herself at home on their suitcases..she knew who would spoil her
Next morning we made a trip into town to get the mushroom supplies for Tuesday's class
1. Then on to Norm's Nursery...of course Joyce had a plant that absolutely wanted to come home with her
2. dropped into the Martyr's Shrine photo a
b. life size rosary c. groto d. history

Oh I love that plant! What is it?
1. view from tower
2. view of an area within church..thought I had taken photo of where POPE Paul had preached but must have not
3. area where one of our martyrs bones lay resting
At our Sistah's Reunion last year I took them to Fort Ste. Marie and we didn't get to the Shrine, so they might enjoy a peak of what they missed.
drats LindaKay, forgot what it is..am sure Joyce will tell you..she has one, all green but says she has never seen this one..lordy she knows every name of every plant..amazing
So now we were home for the day, sat for a few minutes then it was time to make floormats..none of the 3 had ever tried so it was fun for me to teach them..all had specific likes and designs in mind as well as color so downstairs we went to start them
That is the white water bear's breeches Acanthus
http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/189430/
Yes Jean that is what she said it was..she was pleased as punch to get it..now if she can cross the border without it having to find a new home...told her to call me the minute she is across
1. not sure but I think with 96 rooms, acres of gardens Joyce was trying out the shower to see if it was a fit before moving in
2. this day was just about perfact
3. so needed a rest
4. always in search of a man
5. each and every room was done up so nicely
wow, taking a day just to post photo's lol
tell me if you've had enough
got all the bedding/towels washed/dried and put away while posting then think I shall have a nap before heading to town
