Oh that is a pretty plant! Hope it does not get her into trouble! Does anyone know who went with Joyce?
Best/Worse/What did I learn today? Chat with friends
I don't think they are DG members, just friends. But I am not positive.
Good Morning...
LK this is the plant Betty was talking about http://www.saundersbrothers.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=plants.plantDetail&plant_id=1204&typeID=
Barb...you are indeed a treasure...hope this work merger doesn't stress Norm out too much....he and the cat will both be bald....grin
Mary....hang in there Girl.....they say good things come to those with the patience to wait.....I am sure they are coming for you...HUGS
Betty....have fun, behave...and if you can't...don't get caught....grin
Waving to you all
Jean
Either plant is beautiful, thanks for the links!
Ladies there are a couple of swaps open, come and check them out!
Jaye has the red white and blue swap
http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1311912/
And Joy has the 2nd Annual OLD, NEW, BORROWED AND BLUE
http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1311874/
Correct me but I do believe Betty's mid name is "trouble"...right? :-)
Love the plant and definitely see why Joyce is attempting to take one home. Good luck!!
You have that right Marion! When she gets in trouble that is when I pull out the "Bessie Lou" scoldings. lol
Well, at least there is enough of us if she needs "bail" money. LOL
ROFL Yes so true! Suppose Cookie/Joyce will need bailed out too! You know, I remember Joyce having a thing for the mounted patrol too.
Between the two of them....we got trouble brewing.
ok everyone......... get this straight - we Always behave.......
sometimes well, and sometimes badly, but we're Always Behaving lol
Thanks everyone of you for your prayers & your good wishes.....I went yesterday for my pre-op and told what to expect during my stay...outpatient.....since they are doing more than the biopsy I'll be there between 6 and 10 hours then apparently this will be very painful for awhile so the nurse said my dr normally gives potent narcotics for pain relief so I'm not to expect to do anything for a couple of days....they will cauterize the lining of the bladder to give me some relief from the pain I've been in since February....
Betty, wish I had your caladiums & lilies, they are lovely....why the wire over them?
Deb, You are a trooper, brave & kind....I love your posts
as I was skimming thru all your posts I could hear your voices as you talked over your days & your joys....Thunder, darling baby !!! Glad we are women.....the clan of DG's women ! what a group.....Won't be speaking to you guys for a bit....God, I don't want cancer again, I don't want it....I don't want to do med stuff constantly....right now I feel it's been my whole life since my husbands open heart surgery last February.....we actually had our motorhome completely packed ready to leave for CA for our grandson's graduation from HS....Damn......Have a good day, all of you.....
Debbie, you are right about Joyce.....has an eye for really good "eye" candy. I have only been to one gathering with her but we bonded immediately when we discovered each of us were "oogling" the "eye" candy around. :-) Notice: looking but no touching...that's the rule!!
So sorry for your setback, Depsi....physical and emotional pain and sadness can be so stressful....please know that we are all hoping that this time will pass quickly and you will be well and happy very soon. Hopefully those things you must miss will be few and you will have many future joys to share with your family. Soak up the beauty you have surrounding you and heal quickly. (((((WARM HOPEFUL HUGS)))))
Depsi, please know we will all be there with you in spirit, holding your hand, and sending lots of prayers.
The caladiums are mine, I have wire over them to keep my German shepherd out of them. She thinks I buried her toys, and kept digging up the bulbs, so I placed chicken wire over the dirt.
My thoughts and prayers are with you too Depsi as they are from everyone else here I'm sure. We do truly care about each and every one who comes to visit here. All are welcome and are cared for. Sending prayers for strength for you and that your pain is manageable and short-lived.. God bless you.
Your flowers are so beautiful!!!!
Lots of prayers for you, Depsi. I think my moodswings are hangovers from my knee surgery. I've been trying to tell myslef that a three day hospital stay really wasn't anything much. Ha. My recent moods have been strange but not what I usually think of as depressed. i've been resting/sleeping a lot. And riding my exercise bike.
Tony left early today. He told me he has low blood pressure and has been having dizzy spells. I assurred him that I'll do whatever is needed to help him and could see him relax visably. He has so many responsibilities. Luckily, we don't have any heavy work here that needs to be done and I reminded him that we can both take it easy for as long as necessary. Our weather is heating up and we are generally headed into survival mode.
Tony changed light bulbs and set traps for mice and rats. RATS. Scout has caught several. She leaves the bodies on the patio.
I'm watching movies and being puzzled that I can feel so tired but not depressed. I think.
We have a big life raft and I'm glad I'm on it with all of you.
hugs, katie
Katie....I would not be at all surprised if you were experiencing a bit of both physical and mental Post Traumatic Stress what with surgery, the land scare, the trips and the accident.....not to mention the day to day stressors. Do continue to rest and heal....good thoughts to both you and Tony. HUGS

Evening all, hey wait..it's Sunday now, we left this morning around 9:30am and Just got home..to answer your question, Joyce brought 2 friends from her garden club, kathy and Sherri..we are all about same age..
Laughed at Marion's post..picture this, one of our stops was to Wasaga Beach, longest fresh water sandy beach in north America..we walk the beach and there is nothing but young people on the beach..hundreds of 20-25 year old (boys/men) playing football, some not wearing much clothing, muscles exposed, Joyce eyes goes this one guy and telks him we need our photo taken with them seeing they are hunks, guy says he hasn't heard that terminology in many years , Joyce explains we are older..as we get into the car the guys are calling from the beach that they miss us already..I would have played tackle football with them but you know what happened to me partying with university students..I'm still a hurting!
We left the beach and headed to Collinwood, home of the Elvis Festival..then on to Meaford, couldn't leave without going to candle and country store then off to the warehouse..girls found garden pieces..trunk is full.
Ate, by then it is 3:30pm..Betty comes up with a plan
Prayers for all, I have read, everyone said it better than I, we are caring individuals who are always here for you should you need anything..prayers and hugs coming your way.
Linda Kay, I knew that, don't know why Betty came to mind...it made me laugh out loud when I read your answer about your dog...so cute to visualize....
Again, thank you for the love.....I absolutely am crazy about DG and have been since I joined in 2006, I think it was.....We really are a family in so many ways....I appreciate every single one of you & the extraordinary lives you lead...
Got lots done today, planted tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers & squash.....gotta get paperwork stuff done tomorrow, follow up on the little things to tidy up & I'll be relaxed and ready come early Monday morning....it's about 1 1/2 hrs to the hospital, don't know what Bob will do for all that time but the weather shows to be cool & wet so the dogs will be with him which right away takes worry off our minds.....Ok, sleep well and I so enjoy peeking in on your lives....thank you for including me.....
this pic kinda shows how I'm feeling these days !!!!
(((((((((Debbie)))))))))))) don't know what I could add that has not already been said.
Just know that I am with you, as are all the others..... Love is here, aplenty.
Is it morning already.
Must go chane my time zone, an hour out..I posted after midnight hmmm didn't notice that before..
Deb, ahhh look at that photo, better have your camera ready because we are going to have a barn raising for you..I loved the photo's of your pretties..see you have a lot to upkeep as well, don't overdo in them, need to keep your energy..do you have someone in the area where the hospital is so you will not be alone? you may have said biput this noggin isn't working at the moment..
Katie, methinks you need to get to your doctor, you've not been well since your operation and accident. Sorry to hear Tony is unwell, is there a doctor in town that he can can have a physical..hard to believe how one person can look agter the needs of everyone but then our Debbie can..you live in such a lovely area that maybe you can pretend you are on cation and play at being a tourist and just rest.
Girls are stirring, I will gab a bit longer than will get up and start breakfast..said I'd do bacon/eggs/home fries, sounded good last Friday when we were planning the week. Lol
Girls thought it so funny reading my cooking warnings..Debbie they loved the fire extinguisher sign.
Debbie, took photo's of police, smilling at us yersterday, they were on atv's just watching and waiting for us to get to no good.
Girls just up so I'll gab in a bit...
Morning everyone!
Betty, if they are not called hunks anymore, what are they called?
HOTTIES or Hard Bodies....grin
Oh Betty, I can't wait to see the pics! Sounds like a wonderful time for all of you. So wish I was on that beach with all of you. lol
We had wanted to stop out there after hearing how Steve and Judy loved it....always next trip!
Busy day here. Worked on some gardens, DH finally got all of his garden in, bigger with more variety this year...even bunny lettuce for Spencer.
We picked up a couple flats of flowers to put in my gardens today...so will be busy.
Katie, I agree, you need to see a doctor. So much time has passed and still not feeling well.
Waving to all for now...Izzy is here nosing me...she needs out.
Debbie
Thanks for the pictures Thunder, sure put a smile on my face!
Debbie, don't over do it in the gardens today!
Linda, Hubby is always hoovering and helping. He knows when I have had enough.
THunder, what precious pictures!! Is babycakes home now with mama?
Thunder...such sweet baby cheeks...what a little doll. Malena looks so secure...cute pics
Adorable picture Thunder...love the thumb!!!!
Betty, I so agree with Joyce, never hurts to have some good pictures to look at and oh my, the memories. To bad I couldn't have been there! I do remember one time when I was living with my brother and SIL in London. We went to Kettle Point to camp..set up during the dark so not aware of others around us. Early morning came and imagine our surprise to discover we had set our tent in the middle of some type of military training group. To bad I was engaged at the time and didn't really have the true appreciation of "eye" candy. :-) That came with age! Tell Joyce she has to do "double duty" for the both of us!!!!
Ladies there is a Salsa Festival at Blue Mountain right near Collingwood close to Betty in June. Do you think we should tell her? Drats we listen to the same TV and radio stations so she knows already, so there is no keeping this secret from her. I bet you she is secretly doing Salsa at night at home to get ready for it .... no wonder she has been hurting!!! Hope you do get there Betty and have a dance or three with some of those hot Latin dancers.
(((Debbie))) We will all be with you on Monday - we are all very quiet so don't worry about any distractions in the OR. We are actually very good at it as we have had so much practice with everyone having one thing or another done to us. I'll be bringing Diesel but he will be quiet as a mouse just not the size of one. Love your flowers!!!
Katie sendng you armwraps as our Judy would say. I thought of you this morning as I was washing the stairs on my hands and knees. Diesel was thinking otherwise and I almost ened up in a tangle on the floor. Funny what flashes through your mind when you think you are all set for a tumble. Grabbed the wrought iron railings and was able to stop myself. I don't remember being this clumsy and apt to fall even a couple of years ago. As my sweet dad would say this getting old is for the birds. Sending positive thoughts to your Tony that he will feel better soon.
Debbie how is our Miss Izzy feeling today? Is she itchy at all from where they shaved her? Raining here, how about you?
Judy what did Jake end up doing instead of going to the prom? How's Skittles after her crash?
Oh Thunder loved the photos. Pepe looks as peaceful as Malena.... lovely shot.
Raining hard enough I need to close some windows. Need to get moving.
Dianne
Oh Marion .... Kettle Point that sure brought back some memories - all good one for me. Loved Ipperwash Beach, spent many an hour there. There was an Armed Forces base at Ipperwash and they used to truck the cadets into Grand Bend for free time each night. Met many a young fellow there - girls were spoiled as the guys would vie for your attention. Makes me smile, laugh and yes blush when I think about those times now.... How are you feeling these days? And your mam?
Had to laugh Dianne....you said Salsa Festival and immediately thought chilli peppers and tomatoes.....grin
So did I Jean! ^_^
I'm feeling a bit better this morning. Getting some housework and laundry done; then will make time for some craft fun.
Got a lovely email from my niece. She reminded me (again) that I blazed the trail for her to get away from a very sick family and offered compassion for the "hairballs" of memory that occasionally knock me a bit lopsided. She is happily married and has a great job. She also lived for several years with my one surviving sister and knows the kind of craziness I have lived with, felt responsible for, and had the problems blamed on me. When I'm able to be out and about I can keep most of it pushed to the side but whne I'm tired and in pain it can get to me. It does pass.
When I first came to this thread I was asked how I got to Mexico. Here's the short version: my crazy family comspired with a bunch of crooked lawyers and a crooked judge aafter my father died. Took all the money (several million) and dumped my mother in an abusive nursing home, My niece and a friend helped me to take her out and escape to Mexico where she lived happily for about six months - a miricle considering the condition she was in. That was almost twenty years ago. I still have some painful memories of what happened to her. And good memories of how happy she was here.
The judge's conduct was so bad that he had to call in twenty-five years of favors to avoid criminal charges. He retired. I did not recover my inheritance.
It might be time to start writing about it in more detail and maybe exorcise some of the monsters.
In talking to my niece Elizabeth, once we compared her husband's parents to our family. He does not get along with them and it's painful for him. But, as I said to Elizabeth, "They are just a%%holes and don't compare to the true insanity that we come from."
Also remembering Meg Tilly in "The Big Chill." Someone mentioned happy people and she said ,"I"m not sure I know many happy people. What are they like?"
I would have to say that happy people are like we are when things are holding together. When they aren't we are here for each other and able to offer support. Can't ask for much more than that.
The laundry is calling my name.
hugs, katie
Dianne, so glad I brought a blush and smile to your face. I loved that area and the year I spent with my late brother and SIL, we did visit there often. One of the things I can remember, other than waking up in the middle of all those young men, was driving the VW into the water a little ways and washing it....no can do on the beach areas here...maybe not even there anymore. I think the year I was in London was one of the happiest and greatest times of my life...before I married that is!! So hope to get back to visit with my family there but it all depends on the day to day process with Mom. Today isn't a good day at all according to my sister....another UTI but that is common now being she is so inactive.
Katie, so sad to hear of your family issue but they exsist I do believe in most families. I know we certainly had our share of them.
Just got in,not getting done what we were suppose to do but Joyce is going home with a bunch of rock fairies like mine.
Dianne, guess where we ended up yesterday..in Meaford at 3:30 ready to head home and Betty decided we should go to Tobermory..omg. What was wrong with my head. Lol..no wonder it was 15 minutes short of saying we came home the next day..have been taking photo's and as soon as I can call it a day will try and post..we have it figured that by the time they leave they will have seen about 900-1,000 miles. Mega travelling
Ya went to the Tub??? Wow, I love it there. Did you go in The Golden Gallery? Ihave sme of Kent's work hanging here in the house.Glad to read you are all having a great time.
