Jean thought I was the one without patience..lol nothing like a fresh tomato out of your garden! now you have me hungry for tomato sandwhich, I like mine almost green.Did your hubby used to work from home?

Joyce, are you here to tease me?? yep two more sleeps..your question about the craft - linoleum floormats, they are so simple, you and the girls want to opt out??? I don't think so..bought the roll while out a lunch, just have to cut it into mats..hey if Barb's Norm can do it, he's so artistic, then you all can..would be your 'remember when we visited Betty' project!

Judy yes to the bags for Salvation Army, might try and do a few more tonight..have to dust off all the beds for the girls, hope no one is allergic to kitties..

drats just a sec..Suzanne is bugging me, trying to pin down travel times from Branson to New Orleans, heck it's not till first week in August but she is bored so guess who has to plan roadtrips lol

Judy - thx for the hugs :-) No, the other hasn't bloomed yet, but you can tell by the edges of the buds that they will be yellow as well.
Jean - those are gorgeous! Thanks for sharing such beauty :-)

Went to a Job Fair today…. By invitation only from the Gov’t of AB
There were 8 employers – everything from Transit (drivers, mechanics, and clean-up crew), Safeway (stock clerks, store clerks, etc), WalMart (inventory takers and stock clerks) to Platinum Roofing & Construction which is where I applied, for office staff.
They tried to talk me into a Customer Service Rep position (CSR), but it would be from home, commission-based, and no pay for the 1st month of training (2 to 4 hrs a week). I won’t work commission, would rather work in an office than home, and no pay for the first month?!?! Not for me……
However, they also had office staff positions, and said they liked my pre-screen interview. The co-owner of the company will be in next week, and they will present candidates to him then. I would get an interview next week if he likes what he sees for my resume and their comments. We shall see what comes of it.

Hi - Making a quick stop to report that my mood has improved a lot. Unfortunately, my nasty headache is back along with stiff shoulders so I'm headed for a nap. In spite of the return of the headache, my depression has lifted a lot so I'm happy in spite of the headache. Very grateful for my agreement with Dianne not to "accidently" hurt myself while feeling down.

Linda Ky, glad to went to the ER and hope relief will follow soon.

Going to lie down.

Welcome to new people.

hugs, katie

L.A. (Canoga Park), CA(Zone 10a)

Glad your depression lifted, Katie. I know what that is like. I have my spells from time to time.

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Thanks y'all. The colors are bright and happy and I am like a magpie....ohhh pretty...grin

And, all of them are pretty much self-sustaining...a little food, a little water and someone to fight the weeds for them....strictly my kind of plants.... 8-)

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

((((((((((Katie)))))))))) so glad your depression has lifted - you had a lot of people worried about you, and we still will worry...... and send lots of prayers to you, dear lady!

lol Jean

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

So sorry your headache is back, Katie. But so tickled that your heart is happier.

You are most welcome Cody....ya gotta try to pay it forward cuz we are ultimately all in this world together.....never hurts to try to make it better. ((HUGS))

I think we all have those days Kelli....nice to find an ear and a kind word when we do....

Oh wow look at the flowers in your gardens..love them, great photo's..no signs of my coreopsis Jean..absolutely gorgeous! Do you have flowers that bloom throughout the year? Think I'm shy of June blooms and also reds..I'm in awe of the roses..you certainly have a green thumb. There is more to it then that Jean, an art for sure..I've been impressed with my being able to keep the carpet roses alive. When at Walmart I almost bought another..I'm heartbroken that I've no Lillie's..Bev would show hers, I walked through her gardens and started to collect the then the Lilly bug ate them all. Following year whatever they didn't kill the we're able to finish the last few, year after that thought surely the bug would be gone but no, shortly after I planted there they were, munching away. Anyone know how long the lily bug stays in the soil?

Should get ambitious but doubt I will, feel like hot bath and Jammie's..ahhh maybe not seeing its t.v. Bingo tonight.

Katie, glad you are feeling better..you've had so much on your plate with the land issue, operation and then the accident..wonderful that you see changed within..spendng hugs.

Susan, nor getting employment isn't due to your not trying, Lordy you've put a lot of energy not it.

Wonder how Debbie is doing??

Kelli,if I was able to lose weight hiking, think I'd take it up tomorrow..hard process losing it, not easy for sure. All my weight has come these past 5 years or so..not for a lack of being active..

Victoria Harbour, ON

Went to look at the link. iPad won't let me download so tomorrow it will be!

Heard some sad news tonight on my way home..

A man-32yrs of age, father of a yong tot wanted to sell his truck, he put it on kijiji and got a call..2 men arrived, wanted to test drive before buying..man was never seen again..this afternoon they found what was thought to be his body, burnt to a crisp..one man (renoun family name) has been charged, police found the truck inside a car carrier box, body I believe on plane hanger land his family owns..just so sad..teaches us to beware of having people come to purchase items and taking advantage. One almost feels there is more to this story but who knows? Now looking for 2nd man involved..

Holly Springs, NC(Zone 7b)

Katie--welcome back from the downs. We miss you when you are gone. :(

Susan--I don't blame you for not wanting to have to work for free. Training or not, it's still time you've got dedicated to the job. I hope that you find a good fit soon.

After throwing the big graduation at work on Saturday, on Sunday I had the chance to sneak out some orphans from the greenhouse in the Horticulture Department. I brought home a couple of Peperomia, several Gingko, and a few as-yet-to-be-identified green things. Yesterday I had to go into the office to get everything cleaned up and set back to rights, and get done the work that I'd been putting off "until after graduation". Today...I rested! Well, sort of. Turns out I 'worked' online until just after noon, and then I put my foot down and headed out for a few fun errands. Good thing I didn't eat lunch before I headed to the quilt store and the garden center. I think that saved me a couple hundred dollars because I was too hungry to shop at leisure. :)

In before the sun went down because tonight is the season finale for both NCIS and NCIS LA; shows that the hubs and I actually enjoy watching together. Nite all!

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

This afternoon I got a call from the U of Calgary, Faculty of Medicine - they set up an interview for next Tues at 9:15. I'm going to an agency for a "mock interview" tomorrow, to prepare.

Thanks, Lanakila and Betty, for your words...... looking for a job is more and harder work, than for the actual paid work..... sure don't want to work for Free! I'm worth more than that........

Victoria Harbour, ON

Lanakila, bet those plants cried out, take me home, take me home and you obliged..must look up pepperomia.

Did the graduation celebrations go withought a hitch?? I'm sure they did with your excellent planning.

Didn't win at tv bingo but I'm watching NCIS Los angels right along with you..thought I saw season finale last week?

Jody is having problems with her posting on this thread..until she can get it figured out I tld her to dmail me her post and I will copy and paste for her..

Debbie had said she would post an update, starting to worry.

Barb, out of the sewing room, come play.

My thoughts tonight have also been with Janice, hope her absence is because she has mended well and is running the roads..

Lyndonville, NY

No worries Betty, been on a whirlwind ride. Back home safe....will update tomorrow.

Baton Rouge, LA

Hello All !

Thanks Judy :o) June 3 ! Well I agree... Jake heads off to Prom... LOL.....

Moonie your flowers are beautiful ! Betty - yes - you have coreopsis! They are here :) At least I think so.... LOL... You and Suzanne and Jean and I must get together here in my back yard if we can in August !

Although will be 106* hot and plants will be sweating it out by then LOL...
Katie - glad you told those dumps where to go.... sometimes you just gotta take control LOL...

How is Max ?
Jean I'm envious of your red tomato... have the most beautiful tomatoes I've ever seen but none red yet... some pretty greenies... NO Zucchini... lots of blooms. lots of bees around the bottle brush. NO Zucchini might have to google that one tonight....

Susan... just consider it. I've been on straight commission my whole life and I like having control over how much I can make... May not match up to your offer though... but think commission gives you opportunity to make more than the office....plus you have your own hours...work when you feel like it is the way it's supposed to go.

Betty I've avoided witchy but have a meeting with her 11a tomorrow so I'm just repeating "Keep quiet, keep quiet, and repeat". Don't want to say anything to get myself in trouble.

We have sure had some gorgeous days here !

HUGS
Mary

We are safe and very happy in NC.
Just wanted to let Y'all know.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Glad u checked in, Thunder - been missing you! How's your dil?
Your hubs looks happy playing with Malena!!

Jean - I'm not good with being self-employed..... it's a tax nightmare, and I'm not good with taxes, either.

Tonight I went to the AGM for our community, and our mayor and alderman were there..... I spoke to the alderman, and he said that he and the mayor did not think it financially feasible to move the trailer park I live in..... not sure if this has been brought to council, but there are a total of 9 member, and with our mayor and alderman being 2 and I know of one other that agrees........well, that leaves 6 on the council that I don't know what they would vote..... but it's an election year, so who knows.
I've emailed the alderman for clarification - being excited about what I hoped he was saying, I may have missed some stuff...... like council approval........

It's that bewitching hour again, was trying to concentrate on listening to the sounds of the night hoping I'd fall asleep but no go, counting sheep hasn't worked either so came to chat..

Debbie, glad you are home safely, anxious to hear about your trip in the morning,

Mary, do you have any idea why she called the meeting? At this point you are doing the right thing by not saying anything but do not take any guff from her, cowering will only encourage her to to be #1 witchypoo and you don't need that.
As you read, Suzanne had me working on our road trip yesterday, if things don't change we will be 4 crazy ladies travelling.know this is off the wall but is there a region outside of New Orleans that might not be as commercial that we might see more of Cajun lifestyle, back forty of the area, ahhh maybe even a witch doctor?? Maybe Jean would have a suggestion as well? Wow terrifying about the 19 people shot..worrysome..

Susan, wouldn't not having to move the trailer take a load off your mind..

Thunder, glad you arrived safe..everyone sure looks happy..what does Malena think about bringing her new sister home, excited as can be I guess.will your son make it and you get to spend a few days with him? What oh what will you do this week without your sewing machine? Or did you bring it along lol

Going to try this sleep thing!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone! Feeling a bit better today, not nearly the pain the past 4 days! I have been reading all the post, just did not feel like I could type to answer!
Debbie waiting for you to check in with report please?
We have been getting some much needed rain the past few days, and it is so hard to control the mud being tracked in by the dog, guess I will getting good use out of the mop! But the flowers are growing good, the sunflowers in the raised bed are now about a foot tall if not more!

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Yes Betty - it would take a huge load off my mind, to not have to move out of the neighbourhood.
Well, today I go for a "mock interview" because I have the real one next Tues...... at the U of Calgary, Faculty of Medicine, for an Admin Ass't position.
lol 4 crazy ladies, eh? lol picturing it.......

LK - so glad that your pain is lessened!! Sunflowers that tall already? wow....

Thunder - how is everyone today?

Lyndonville, NY

I don't have much news to share that is "good" and not happy with the answers. . Saw both doctors yesterday. First doc, Dr. K., whom I really do like and respect...very thorough...explained things a bit better for me than the last. Basically they think I was born with this cyst at the "level 6 thoracic spine" and another tiny one way down lower back.....and if it hadn't closed like it did...I could very well have been born with Spina Bifida. He thinks we only found it because we were looking for other issues....BUT it does explain some of my back pain and issues. HOWEVER, nothing "safe" we can do about it. Touching it will cause major problems...Just leave it alone.

Dr. K does believe the "so called surgeon" did do some major damage to the nerves in my lower back of the vascular natures. But because these nerves are so microscopic and it has been 18 months...there is no way to prove this. It is normal to get some nerve damage during any surgery but not to this extent. AND...there is no way to repair it. It takes time. Lots of time. Nerves regenerate about 1/2 inch to an inch a MONTH. And since my legs are roughly 36 inches long....probably around 3 years or more. Sigh.

So, went to see the second doctor, Neurology, Dr. C. Basically same thing. BUT...he thinks that when the doctor was "moving things around" in the abdomen to remove my ovary and do the surgery, she also pushed up and compressed that cyst on my spine...blocking blood flow to vital parts...and caused what is called a "spinal stroke".
ALSO....same thing about rebuilding nerves and all that stuff as the first doctor said this morning. Time. More time. AND...because there is no way to prove any of this...there is no law suit. IF I was still in a wheelchair....yes, but now that I am walking and mobile no luck.

Other than pain management, there is really nothing I can do. They both did suggest a light exercise regimen because if I start loosing muscle mass...it will get much worse and harder to get it back. I refused pain meds...but if I need something, just to call.

Betty....we got lost with the GPS and ended up in a construction site going in circles. Tried taking us down a road that
didn't exist. Paul wasn't amused with my laughing.

LindaKay, I had bouts of Divertic YEARS ago...not fun!!! Be careful and hope you feel better soon.

Welcome to our "Newbies". Glad to meet you!

Please be patient with me...I am just taking this last week very hard, especially with the news on Zack. NOLA newspaper had an amazing article on him.

Wonderful that you are feeling better LindaKay, was quite a session you had. Aren't meds wonderful when they work. When I was at the nursery the other day they had sunflowers in containers, actually one per container and wanted $9.98

Wonder if I'm to late to plate them. Do you plant them every year or is this a trial year..know you said but mind is not working at top speed..

Hear you about rain, was raining when I left this morning but as I arrived in Barrie sun was trying to filter through. Kitties sure have a lot of paw marks on my floors, I'll wait till tomorrow morning so Joyce doesn't get to count them lol

How's the pooch doing? got his ailments under control?

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Debbie, giant hugs for you....deepest sympathies for Zach's passing. He seemed to be one of the truly good guys....

Betty, I would suggest Lafayette and Avery Island for the cajun experience....music, food and culture They are only a hour or less from each other....Lafayette is just an hour from Baton Rouge...2 hours drive from New Orleans....and you can take the "back road" from NO to Lafayette through the heart of cajun country...Lafourche parish, St Mary Parish, Iberia parish to Lafayette parish.....

Thanks for doing that for Cody....seems her phone will only allow a certain amount of data so when the thread hits 100 posts or so, she can't access them.

I certainly hope Dianne is not still without power....that would make it almost a week.....

Mary....sounds like a plan....We had tomato plants up and going when Judy was here...hang in, yours will be rosy soon.

Good thoughts to you all.

Jean

Victoria Harbour, ON

Thanks Jean for all the links, you are a sweetie..girls want to do something that isn't 'touristy' although they are tourists. lol You always put yourself out to help educate us..wonderful.

I wouldn't think Dianne is still without power, but, she does live in a remote area I believe and the winds have been high, toppled many trees in my area. It's a difficult time for her, perhaps she just needs to regenerate and try and make sense of it all.

Lyndonville, NY

Dianne posted last night that power was back on, but we just had massive storms go through here. I haven't seen the
sky that color of "green" in many years. Maybe she is catching up on some sleep....I sure hope so!

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

You are most welcome Betty....I don't consider Avery Island or Bluebonnet swamp touristy places....they are beautiful and I think folks should visit them as often as possible...few places offer such an insight into the beauty that is unique to LA. As for the festivals....you will meet many more locals than tourists....we love a good party in South LA. While New Orleans has a lot to offer, it is a place DH and I rarely visit. After Katrina, and the massive evacuation, large areas of the city were open to the thugs, gangs and equally nefarious types to rush back in and gain a foothold.....it has been an on-going battle for both New Orleans and Baton Rouge where a number of them fled post storm.

Glad you heard from Dianne Debbie...thanks for passing that on.

Victoria Harbour, ON

How are you doing this morning Debbie?
Thanks for info on Dianne..

Jean, we want to get out and get some local feel for the area, have a bit more time than last year but still not enough..one year we'll have to devote an entire wee on New Orleans and area.

L.A. (Canoga Park), CA(Zone 10a)

Feeling a little down today. It was a year ago tomorrow that my mom passed away.

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Then I think a drive would do it....you see real folks and lots of the bayou way of life

http://www.rd.com/advice/travel/bayou-byways-road-trip-enjoy-the-southern-charm-of-louisiana/

This link has lots of suggestions for places to check out

http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic-g60864-i34-k4328341-Scenic_drive_arouns_New_Orleans-New_Orleans_Louisiana.html

Entering Louisiana from the west, U.S. 90 and Interstate 10 run side by side through Lake Charles to Lafayette. In Lafayette, U.S. 90 and I-10 part ways: I-10 goes to Baton Rouge, while U.S. 90 takes a southern turn, passing through New Iberia, Franklin, Morgan City, and the Houma-Thibodaux area before reaching New Orleans. The portion of U.S. 90 from Lafayette to New Orleans is designated to become the corridor for I-49. In New Orleans, U.S. 90 again meets up with I-10, and the two highways follow a similar path into Mississippi.
