Sweet Interruptions # 258

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

oh........ men.......... and boys lol Not good about going to the Drs are they?!
I hope your DD's diagnosis is good, and not fibromyalgia

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Kathy, the test they did on me was, they stood behind me, and gently put the edge of their hand on either shoulder, and press down, then gently squeeze different joints, elbow, wrist, knees... The Dr. told me if your sore on all these pressure points, you most likely have it, as he told me there were no blood test to prove you did or did not have it. If she is just sore in a few of these places, she probably does not have it. Then you get some Dr.'s that don't think it is a real problem, so he won't do much for you!

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

my dr. said definitely fibromyalga. not any cure for it, but meds. to help the pain

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Glad she has meds to control it!

Morning everyone!

Well, I finally had Todd take me to the ER last night about 7 as I was hurting so much! We got back home a little after midnight. It took 3 shots of morphine to control the pain. After blood work, a very painful catheter, and a CT scan. The Dr. verifies I do have diverticulitis, and very compacted polyps. They are not infected yet, but sent me home with some meds to take that will hopefully clean me out and clear those polyps. (strong laxative) I have to follow up with a surgeon Wed, if it gets any worse I have to have surgery. So lets pray this stuff cleans me out???

Well, I am still under the influence of pain meds, and not typing well. So I will copy and paste this to a few more threads, and I am back to bed. See you later!

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

((((linda))))
my sister just went threw that. they had to cut a piece of her colon out. please do as the dr. tells you

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

LK, definitely do as told...ouch I hurt just reading that!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Oh my goodness!!! My dear sistah, LK.... many many light hugs for you! I'm so sorry you had to go through so much pain, and pray the polyps will clear instead of having to resort to surgery.
Hope you got a good supply of toilet paper!

Sis Kathy, fibro is a very misunderstood disease. So many that have this will give a normal appearance, but are suffering that none can see.
I do hope your daughter has a very good doctor who'd know what meds to prescribe for her.
Michael.. go to the doctor!!! Please. Got to get that off your back!

Susan, I bet those blooms cheered you up. Will you be transferring them to the ground?

Here's a current picture of Cody and Alex. Somehow DG won't let her post it on the main page, but yet, she can send it through a dmail! Figure that out!

Cody, you look good woman!! Alex is a handsome young man for sure!

Had to return to Lowe's this morning after dentist appt.
Kel couldn't fit that trip in the itenary yesterday as we were running short of time.

I did find a Clematis, with no name on the tag and purchased a 3 gallon white Agapanthus.. think it's Queen Anne.

Did a quick search to find out what my Clematis may be and I found this!!
http://www.bluestoneperennials.com/CLNT.html It got to be a Mrs. Thompson as the petals are deep blue and the streaks, bright red.

Next to it is my Belle Of Woking. It has very light blue blooms. Didn't notice the blooms as they were growing behind the red honeysuckles!

I can see, I can see! Now I need someone to give me back my car keys!!! I'm gonna go cruisin'

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Everyone, get off the roads....

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Jaye, congrats on the new plants!

YEAH Marion can see again! How are your knees dong Marion? Pray they are doing better too, if you want to go cruising!!!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

LK, as long as I do the exercise and keep using the gel they do fine. A little touchy today but then I did work outside for a long time yesterday. How are you feeling? I have one attack in my life and I hope to never, ever have another one......seeds are the pits. No pun intended!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

As long as I keep up the Vicodin, I am doing pretty good. I take half of one every 6 hours, that seems to be working pretty good. And thank God for spell checker! ^_^ I took my laxative, just waiting for things to move! Wish there was a whistle icon here!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

"Seeds are the pittttttttttssss!!!!" LOLOL!!!!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Oh my, LK!!! You'd soon be camping in your bathroom!!
Ok.. I better get my gear moving if I want to do more weeding!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

No weeding or working outside today. For some odd reason I have now come down with either a summer (early) cold or sinus infection. Feel to lousy to do much of anything. I hate these things!!!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

((((((((((LK))))))))) sorry you'regoing thru so much pain. So, do what the dr says, an get those polyps cleaned out......

Jaye - they're already planted in the ground. What you see is a raised bed, with railway ties. I didn't plant them - they've been here since before I moved here.

Went to a Job Fair today…. By invitation only from the Gov’t of AB
There were 8 employers – everything from Transit (drivers, mechanics, and clean-up crew), Safeway (stock clerks, store clerks, etc), WalMart (inventory takers and stock clerks) to Platinum Roofing & Construction which is where I applied, for office staff.
They tried to talk me into a Customer Service Rep position (CSR), but it would be from home, commission-based, and no pay for the 1st month of training (2 to 4 hrs a week). I won’t work commission, would rather work in an office than home, and no pay for the first month?!?! Not for me……
However, they also had office staff positions, and said they liked my pre-screen interview. The co-owner of the company will be in next week, and they will present candidates to him then. I would get an interview next week if he likes what he sees for my resume and their comments. We shall see what comes of it.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

I'm doing your share Marion!
Could only do 5-10 minutes at a time, for my legs freeze up on me.

I have still a long way to go to get rid of ALL the Carolina Jessamine. LK, I thought all the Franziska Maria's been choked by these pests... guess what!!!
There is a survivor, I found it after clearing up another section!!
Look!!
Before and after pic!! I'm so happy!!

Sending you good vibes and of course, the prayers haven't stopped for you Susan.
It would be nice if you would be offered an office position that will utilize your skills.

Hope the meds clean out the polyps LK, my DK has had that darn disease since in his 30's. He knows not to eat seeds, hard to learn the hard way. They took out polyps in his colon and there was cancer cells in them. Had to remove a sectin of his colon then, but no cancer found. He had just turned 60 then and seems he has had one thing after another after that. Had his first chemo treatment today and so far so good.. 3 weeks before another treatment, but his PSA is now 91, that's scary. I took my reading material, etc. with me and didn't do any reading. Watched some TV with him instead.

Marion, glad to hear you can see good now, I have cataracts starting, but hope they move very very slow.

Temps were in the very high 90's yesterday, down a little today, but still too hot. It was actually cold in the dept. where they do chemo treatments. Wish I could have taken some of that home with me.

Going to Lowe's when it cools off, told DH if I don't get tomato plants in now I might as well forget about them. Should have had in a month ago at least. Got a $10 savings card, but have to buy $50 worth. Told Darwin that will probably pay the tax, which is now at 9%. They are going to widen some of the freeways close to us so that means everything else will go up too.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Thanks Jaye - appreciate that :-)

Holly Springs, NC(Zone 7b)

I saw Jaye's 'Belle of Woking' clematis and HAD to put it on my wantlist!

Here's a picture of our most recent rescue. Shiloh is about 5 years old and was too timid for the home she was in. She has snuggled right in with the 4 cats and 1 dog that live with us!

Kel sends his love, Pegi. He's anxious for Darwin too, and we'll continue to pray for his recovery.
Hugs my sistah.
I didn't look for any veges at Lowe's as I had not cured any strawbales....yet...
Doubt if Kel has the time to pick up any. But when the eggplants are out, I'll definitely get a couple to plant in pots. MUST have some eggplants

Bless your heart for picking up Shiloh, Lanakila. The previous home must have some rambunctious kids? Now it's just you and papa, and she can shine!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Love the beagle....we used to raise them and if I could, I would have one here. Alas, 'gators in the lake and unable to have yard fenced as it borders on the lake. So I admire others.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Tonight I went to the AGM for our community, and our mayor and alderman were there..... I spoke to the alderman, and he said that he and the mayor did not think it financially feasible to move the trailer park I live in..... not sure if this has been brought to council, but there are a total of 9 member, and with our mayor and alderman being 2 and I know of one other that agrees........well, that leaves 6 on the council that I don't know what they would vote..... but it's an election year, so who knows.
I've emailed the alderman for clarification - being excited about what I hoped he was saying, I may have missed some stuff...... like council approval........

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone! Jaye, that clematis looks blue, but I read on your Facebook page the different soils make them different colors? Like hydrangeas, different soils, different colors?
Susan, that will be good for you if they don't move the park!
Pegi, sending prayers for hubby, that the chemo does not make him sick! Tell him to take Claritin if the Dr, has not told him. Something about the antihistamine helps the nausea!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

it sure would, LK - I don't like my trailer (too tiny - 970 sq ft - and so little garden space) but I do like my neighbourhood.

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

marion, we can catch and eat the gator

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Marion, my co-worker who lived along Bayou Teche in Louisiana, had her poodle mauled by a gator!

Alligator tastes like chicken!!

Susan, may you NOT have to move!

LK, according to Bluestone, Franziska can be either purple or blue. Yep, I believe so, according to the acidity of the soil. When I first got it, it was purple. I am sticking to this dark blue. Love it!!
http://www.bluestoneperennials.com/CLFM.html?gclid=CPSquayimLcCFcLc4AodYEkAJA

I'll be back.. got to rid more weeds before mosquitoes return!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Sorry Kathy, I doubt we could kill the gator without getting into trouble with HOA and trust me, I do that with out adding anything else.

Jaye, that is one of the reasons we don't have a dog...would love to have a lab or beagle but not good idea.

On the lazy list today as this darn sinus/cold has me on the slow side today...again! But!!! I do have my car keys. :-)

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Hope your feeling better soon Marion!

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

alligator tastes like alligator. chicken tastes like chicken

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Sis I had fried gator tails, and they taste like chicken to me!!! :P And they're good in sauce piquant too!

Marion, take it easy.. (singing that here). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AEzTdBJUHO8

taste like gator to me
I love sauce piquant

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Think I'll do a catfish sauce piquant tomorrow. Can't do meat but fish is okay. IF I can find some fresh catfish at the fish market, that is.
Lucky to have one in this town. Fresh water fish and game fish... no shellfish though.

LK, can you get fresh fish in your area?

Been weeding 10 minutes at a time. Will be able to walk through the yard without worrying about snakes!! Yes, the dandelions are atrocious here.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Didn't do any work but did sit outside in the sun for a while....seems to help the congestion. BTW, have I mentioned I HATE BEING SICK? Yes, I know I was shouting. :-)

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

No fresh fish here unless we go to the lake and catch it our self. All fish is frozen at the stores. Once in a blue moon the store will have fresh catfish. What is sauce piquant?

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

Made some chili from a recipe someone printed on facebook. It made a huge pot full of really good chili so I had to freeze most of it as DH says his taste buds aren't working well yet and I guess the green pepper I had in it made him belch all night. It is called Wendy's chili, but you know that secret is well guarded. Would make a perfect dish for a pot luck. But it made a serving for 12, I should have just cut the recipe in half.

Darwin is feeling OK, so far, from his first chemo treatment. I sure hope this is the answer as his PSA climbed up to 91 now. At least he doesn't have to go in every day, but every 3 weeks. Still doctoring with eye inflammation, hope that is cured soon. I'm so grateful for all the prayers.

Today is the day for putting some amendment in my garden soil so I can plant a couple tomato plants. Went to Lowe's and got everything I need, I hope. Weather is suppose to be cooler so better get out there and start working.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Marion, I did enough for you! Had to make those weeding shorter, as the sun hits hard! I had long sleeves on to ward off the mosquitoes, and my back was wet.
Got to get a hat.
You got that right Marion. You're NOT supposed to enjoy being sick, only the doctors love that!

Sauce piquant is a Cajun spicy stew with tomatoes. I prefer Rotel to a can of stewed tomatoes.
Here's one recipe, but you could use any seafood or meat.

Alligator Sauce Piquante
Ingredient List
4 pounds alligator meat
1 tablespoon paprika
2 sticks of butter
1/4 cup chopped parsley
3 medium onions, chopped
1 1/2 bunches onion tops
1 green bell pepper
2 cups water
4 cloves garlic, minced
cayenne pepper
4 tablespoons, finely sifted white flour
salt and black pepper
3 cans of cooked whole tomatoes (Rotel tomatoes)
1 8 ounce can of tomato sauce
4 bay leaves
1 pound andouille (fat, smoked sausage)
4 tablespoons vegetable oil

Boil alligator meat for 5 minutes to remove fat. Rinse meat in clean water. Brown meat in black iron pot. Remove meat and clean pot. Place flour and oil in black pot. Cook stirring constantly until as dark as chocolate. Add onions and bell pepper. Cook until dark brown and soft. Add tomato paste and cooked tomatoes and simmer for 30 minutes. Add garlic, meat, seasonings, and andouille and simmer 25 minutes. Add butter and cook for another 40 minutes. Serve over rice.

Praying for good news Pegi.
