Morning, what a glorious morning it is...

As I have my morning coffee I'm watching my black squirrel enjoying his breakfast, can almost see the leaves on the oak trees opening, birds are singing, not sure why the woodpecker is pecking the tin roof of the old outhouse I made, both ponds have a lovely sound to them and yard looks nice and clean, just waiting for Mother Nature to do her part now.

Will go to the church, plant sale this morning, get groceries then come back and enjoy the day..now that I don't have to rake I can just go out from time to time and pick a weed or two..

Be back in a bit to read and retread your posts and comment on them..how am I running behind?

Glenview, IL

Good morning Betty!!
So nice to sit and watch the critters. I enjoy listening to the birds in the moning, lol not so crazy about them waking me at 4:30 in the AM though. .
,
Well ive cought the Springtime cold, so ended up not working outside. We have a bit of cold snap and rain so have been curled up on couch with my blankie and the remote.

Got to go make coffee.

Lol, felt bad so also did a very few things around here but couldnt stay focused on any one thing...so maybe today, ill get something done.

Sure hope Kyle is ok Betty. Was glad he came to help rake.

Lanakila hope you havefunat craft sale, those hair clippies should fly off table they are so cute, speaking ofcute the kitten is adorable...

See you in a bit.
Oh here is my deck buddie!!
Too cute!

Hmm must of got the plant sale date wrong, thought it was 1st Saturday of May but perhaps it's it's Saturday of June, just as well, Aunt Muriel finding gardens too hard for her was having church come dig up most of her gardens..I was to go last weekend and take what I want first sooo am waiting until 9am and if they haven't come I'll go raid her garden..I'm a lover of phlox so will grab as much as I can.
Did while grocery shopping buy my 1st hanging basket, will do until the ones I buy at the nursery come in.

Sorry to hear you are Newell Judy, lousy time to get a cold, seems you never get over it. Don't feel guilty about resting on the couch..you work hard and deserve a reprieve. Ahh look at that adorable little bunny, do you feed them?

odd that I get deer and every different critter but no rabbits..but do I want them?? Likely they would feast on my gardens.

Debbie, you say you are looking after IZZY today re bathing, is she having those hot spots like Sailor used to have? Enjoy your YOU day as I know you don't get many of those. Is Shannon improving?

Mary, if my cold weather got to your neck of the woods then it means when I asked you for the hot weather you were a darling and sent it my way..thanks..sorry you are unwell, know you make a big to do for birthdays and would hate to be unwell.

Dianne, hoping you have the same kind of day, one filled with sunshine so you and Deisel can be playing outside..are your kitties inside kitties?
sending you warm hugs!

Katie you feeling better?

It's probably 100 already this mornimg in your neck of the woods

Marion, how did your appointment go the other day?? And mom??

Well I will make another coffee, have an apple turnover..sugar should generate energy and watch the clock till 9am so I can call Auntie Muriel

And thank you all for concer for Kyle.

Glenview, IL

Lol thats no rabbit thats our Chippy chipmunk!!
Funny i was just telling Jake how i hadnt seen him yet and there he is!!
Ive only ever "gave" him food to try and capture a photo...otherwise the only feeding I do is the birds and he scavages the dropping from that.
Roflol i got all the critters of every kind in my yard too.
havent seen the rabbits yet...but have heard the owls so they are giding somewhere!

Hmmm maybe the plant sale is mothers day?? Hope you get some phlox, ive tried them a couple of times and only get a few stems and fewer returns.

Oh yay coffee is done, forgot about it and dozed for a short nap!

Lyndonville, NY

Morning!

Judy I remember that Chippy terrorizing Kenny when we were there. He just loved them! They were very entertaining to us
Wish I had them here. Even most of my squirrels are gone.

Betty, Izzy is very sick right now. Not hot spots but some type of skin infection, ear infection and tummy upsets. Spent a
fortune at the Vets yesterday. Of all things, her hair is irritating the skin, so we have to get her shaved down and groomers
can't get her in til Friday. BUT we are on cancellation list. She even had high fever yesterday at vet. Dr. Monty said he trusted
me to care....so sent her home. She stresses so bad when I am not in sight he knew would make her worse. I have to put her in
a tub.....which we have an old rubbermaid tote....I hope she fits....and soak her in the bath with medicine for skin.
How I am going to get her in and out....thats another story!!!

Shannon has a Neurology appointment on Monday.....all tests are coming up clear so far. SO, no idea what is causing this pain. I know this
doctor is going to want to put a shunt in her head....and that is not going to go well.

Need coffee

Debbie

Victoria Harbour, ON

Debbie, sorry to hear that Izzy is so unwell..she must be in pain and your heart aching and worried of what is to come..poor think, she will wonder what is happening with these baths..hmm remember that dog bath unit we saw at Christmas tree store, wouldn't it be larger than a tote. Was difficult for me trying to lift Sailor into tub to give her baths..almost did me in.

Could all the pain Shannon has been having result from severe stress??
Any news from Shane?

Judy, Lordy still looks like a bunny to me. Lol

My phlox do very well, bloom late July/August..what I should be focusing on is something that blooms May/June. Regardless where I put phlox they do well.
Must be my flower..

Came back with about 50 plants from Aunt Muriel's, boy did I more getting them not the gardens as its hot today and I don't want them to die. The sale is last Saturday of May so will pick more up..included in my treasures are astilbe, another love, enjoy them around the pond. Bought a deep red a few years ago, don't see it coming up.

With having bad back last fall (NewOrleans table top dancing-nah) I. Didn't get to keep with the weeding so I'm not sure if there is more sod or plants in the gardens..lots of work to be done..

Promised myself it doesn't have to be done today..I said 2-3 hours a day on weekends and 1 1/2 weekday evening ..if I do this likely it will get done by fall.

So here I sit, going to make lunch and just enjoy the day.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Doesn't look like a lot of plants but they were toppled one ontop the other

just a few days out in the elements and the fairy is starting to rust..hopefully won't be long she will blend in with the others

Betty, this tote is huge, has wheels on it. I think at least 36 inches long and maybe 2 ft. tall. If it is water, Izzy will jump in it. AND...she did.
Felt so bad as the water was so cold, carried about 8 pitches of hot water to warm it up a bit. It did the job....but not so sure about another attempt
as it is just so so cold for her and I can't get her whole body. She is twice the size of Sailor girl, and until she is shaved down...it seems a moot issue.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Eye appointment went great, new glasses have been ordered and could be in the middle of this week.

Mom, believe it or not, is actually doing better. She has another UTI and the antibiotics have cleared up her cough and making her feel better. Still weak but nothing like she was.........she is one tough person!

Lyndonville, NY

Oh Marion, your poor Mom has been through the mill!! Glad they got antibiotics in her and she is feeling better.

I have a week of appointments this week with DD and myself....I think everything BUT my eyes! lol Glad you had a good
check up and hope the new glasses help.

Debbie

Baton Rouge, LA

Hello to All;

Debbie - you are always taking care of someone else ! I'm wondering if coconut oil might help Izzy... but I know you are trying much better things... That's a huge tub... did they say it had to be cold water?
Betty if you enjoyed the hot weather then that makes me feel a bit better...

I babied myself and was better... made it to MIL's luncheon. But now I'm worse and I have to work tomorrow. Luckily I have to work near LSU so may get a chance... if I have any hibbie blooms to enter them into the contest...on the way into work.
Hubs will drive me... I should get home earlier tomorrow and hopefully knock this fever down before work Monday (and Model A meeting Monday night)

Hugs
Mary

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Marion - glad eye app't went great, and you're mom's doing better
Debbie - here's hoping your app'ts go as well as Marion's! I'll pray for you
Mary - babied urself for a bit, then overdid.....now, back to babying yourself again!! Longer, this time.

I was pleased for my DH, then he made me angry/scared......
it was his bowling banquet tonight, and he won a 32" HDTV flat screen.... I was so pleased for him!
but......while I was out of the living room, he decided he needed to take down the old tv (on a stand about waist height, so the back-heavy old tv is on top of it) and the first I heard was a *bang* and tinkling of glass........ there's a liquor stand next to the tv stand and some cut glass liquer glasses got knocked off and broke. there's very little room between the tv stand and the coffee table, and he was wobbling with the weight of the tv - he could have seriously hurt himself!! So angry/upset with him!! He just gets his testosterone going and figures he can do anything!

Lyndonville, NY

Mary, no, I made the water warm...it was probably 70 or so. I carried quite a few pitchers of hot water out to warm it up.

She has a special shampoo with an antiseptic in it, an antibiotic, a yeast medication, and an ear med....oh yes, and benedryl!!
Until we get all this hair off her...its not going to do much good for the baths, but I am doing all I can. Gave her a big trim, and
will do bits at a time, and hopefully Julie (groomer) calls with a cancellation.

And of all things, with my allergies, I can't use coconut on her. I have to watch sunscreen for me also because of that, soy and
several others. Can't wait to see the allergist on Tuesday!

So happy you felt better and could go to DMs luncheon! I know she enjoyed you being there.

Baton Rouge, LA

Thank you Susan & Debbie !

Susan.. did Hubs get cut any ? Hydrogen peroxide... I know... my Hubs overdoes like that as well... they just don't think... but congrats on winning the TV ! Stroke of luck !

OhDeb... I forgot you might be allergic to the coconut oil....Poor you and Izzy !

Not one thing ... it's the other....

(HUGS)
Night Night
Mary

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

no, he didn't get cut.... the glasses fell to the floor, and they're broken, but he swept the 2 glasses up.
yes, quite a stroke of luck...... but now he can't get the dvd to work with it lol........ a challenge, to be sure.........

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all,

It's will be another day in paradise for sure..sitting enjoying listening to the birdies sing, if I can figure out the tune they are singing I just might join them!

Debbie how is Izzy doing this morning, do you think she is in pain?
The appointments never stop do they, don't jinx yourself, still time to need an eye appointment..watch those contacts girl..you will be glad to have them behind you and have answers..with my sun allergy when out I cannot use any type of lotion, bet it's the sun giving you the whatfor..even with this bet you are outside gardening.

Mary, do hope you can make the hubbie entry, would be nice taking 1st place!
Guess with this weather changing from warm to cold/cold to warm you can't help but get sick.

Jean, with same weather as Mary is getting are you able to get to those gardens?

Bev, how are your gardens, daylillies make it? Looked in my garden and I've lost them all due to lilybug.

Susan, no wonder you are angry, couldn't he have asked you to help?
He is lucky both in winning and not getting injured. Shaking my head..men.
Yesterday was a good day for you both with the church booth and winning tv.

Lanakila, how did you make out?

LindaKay, did I miss your report re your dad's health

Need to get breakfast so I can go out and play with weeds

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Betty - I think I was more worried that he would hurt himself......... and yes, upset. His testosterone levels won't allow him to ask for help...... men! He doesn't listen to advice about moving things out of the way before he does stuff. Several times things got broken cuz he either knocks them down, or when he works on a wall for instance it "jiggles" off a shelf etc and breaks....... he just doesn't think he needs to take the extra care cuz "I know what I'm doing". Can't see further than the repair he's doing....

btw - it's 8c now, and going to be 22c today and supposed to go to 25c tomorrow!!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Okay, who sent this cold weather to us? Had to find a blanket last night as it got into the mid 40s...actually loving it.

Getting ready to leave for church.....today is my youngest GDs first communion and of course, I will be there. She informed me Friday night that it was okay to come even if I wasn't Catholic. This one is always got a comment for you. Will be having a luncheon afterwards so most likely won't be around much.

Everyone take care, baby yourselves and enjoy the day! Celebrate even as it is Cinco de Mayo!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

brrrrr that is cold for FL, Marion!

Holly Springs, NC(Zone 7b)

The hair clippie thing was a FAIL! I think it had more to do with where my friend set up her booth; a local flea market. I figured that this was going to be the case, but she was so excited getting ready for it that I just kept my mouth shut. The best selling stuff from the booth was dishtowels that have the crochet at the top so you can hang them from the oven door handle. Those sold like hotcakes so her mom was thrilled.

She does beautiful photo cards, and I doubt she sold any of those either. We've decided to do a 'craft' fair next time. We did have a lovely day together, the three of us. Lots of laughs and the people watching was over-the-top!

Off to grab a few geocaches before hitting a brunch buffet. The college kid is going to come pull out my foundation hedges today. I can hardly wait to get into those spaces and amend the soil so I can get some plantings in. I have lots of new things from swaps and that big sale last week.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

For this time of year it is a rarity.

Verona, ON

Another glorious day here. Betty , Debbie and I so deserve it after the winter we experienced. Susan haven't looked yet are you a bit warmer today?

Susan I so felt for Bob. He wanted that new TV up and just couldn't wait for help. You took the damage very well I must say. But I am positive that Bob being OK was your first priority. Is it up now, can he watch it??? I thought my 20+ year old TV was giving me a good picture but when I saw the screen on this new TV I was blown away. Technology really has come a long ways. I feel like I am right in the room with whatever scene is on the TV.

Still not sleeping well if at all. Tonight I will break down and take the RX sleep meds.

Lanakila I am so sorry your venture out with the clippes was a disaster. You are right - just like real estate location, location. location is a decidng factor. Sounds like you had a great day out though with your friends.

Betty, how you feeling today? I'm still raking - at a very slow pace I might add but have uncovered some blooming hyacints and some daffodils. Black flies doidn't seems as bad yesterday so hopefully today will be the same.

On my way out to check for beaver damage. Diesel and I did not do that first thing this morning. I was trying to keep him dry in case I decided to go back to bed.

Debbie what is up for you today? Paul working?

Make sure you all do something nice for yourselves today ladies.
Dianne

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Thanks, Dianne - it's going to be 22c today, and 25 tomorrow!

Bob's fixed it so he can watch DVDs now...... had the wrong connection last night.
He had to adjust the colour - people were a bit orange lol
with a 32" we don't quite feel like the scene's in the room, but it certainly is a clearer picture!! And now we can see wider screen with everything included where before it was "cut off" on the sides......

Today at church I'm reading the scriptures...... should get going!

Lyndonville, NY

Yes, Paul is working, left here at 4:30 again to be in for 6:00. He stops for his breakfast sandwich on way, then has to change into work
clothes and drink his pot of coffee....stand around with the other men, hands in pockets and "yeah, its a motor" talk. hehe He said it should just
be a "short 8 hour day".

I took a cool shower and put the caladryl on my hives. So far not working....but staying out of sun even though I want to get out and plant so so much!

You all made me laugh. Those appointments I said...I do not have eye appointment...but DH does Wednesday! LOL So Monday we have Neurologist for
DD, Tuesday we have ME at the allergiest, Weds. is DH at eyes....Thursday is ME at the Ortho for my shoulder.....and Friday...I think is "Free" right now. HOWEVER, we have to be in Cleveland next week for my follow up appointments. DH has a root canal soon as we get back also. Egggads!!!

I might just get in the car and go look for some pansies or something I can plant late this afternoon. I am itchin!!!

Debbie

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone. Sorry Betty, Dad is doing pretty good, but he had to go see the foot Dr again, as he keeps getting infections where he had that toe removed. He is on another round of antibiotics, and big bandages. His problem is he keeps picking at it, and won't leave it alone.
Sounds like your all busy in the gardens, and/or Dr. appointments. Marion, glad to hear your getting be glasses soon, and your Mom is doing better.
Debbie, sorry to hear about Izzy not doing well, hope all those meds help her soon.
Mary, hope our feeling better soon too, and good luck with your hibiscus show.

Lyndonville, NY

I took a picture of my favorite tulip yesterday...i just love the ruffled edges on it. Don't know where I got it from,
none of the others I planted at the same time have it...but it is so pretty.

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Good Morning.

I was fussing about the chilly weather, when I suddenly realized...we are having a REAL spring....been so long that I hardly recognized it....grin Even the very short distance between Mary and I makes a difference....we are actually a half zone apart...Mary is 8band I am 9a....Baton Rouge set a record for cold temps this time of year, but we only got down to 41 (5C) and the low tonight will be 48 (9C) with the high at 68 (21C). It is actually quite nice as it is sunny and makes garden work a bit more pleasant.

Things are popping out all over the garden and the fragrance of the Mock Orange (Philadelphus) is almost over powering in the evening. The warmer weather earlier this year caused a few things to bloom earlier than usual....all the LA irises in my garden are almost through blooming, and the hyacinths, Japanese magnolias and daffodils are long since through. Daylilies are starting to flower and the coreopsis are putting on quite a show. I do love cheerful bright yellow flowers.

Susan...it's a Man Thing....all you can do is try to stay a step ahead of them to protect your treasures....tsk tsk. Congrats on the TV....perhaps it is one with a built in DVD player. When DH got our new TV, the box said DVD ready....it wasn't until after he had spent a frustrating afternoon that I noticed the well disguised port on the side...YUP, DVD ready...just put the DVD in the side of the TV....DH was....ummmm..."pleased" that I found it....ahem.

Marion, great news for you...and so happy that your Mom is improving...she is truly an Iron Lady. Congrats to your little granddaughter...first communion is quite a milestone for them.

Debbie, good thoughts for you and Shannon....just keep saying This Too Shall Pass. Poor Izzy....talk about uncomfortable in your own skin...poor baby.

Lanakila, sorry the clippies didn't do well....fortunately they won't spoil and should be a big hit at a craft show. Enjoy your playtime in the new planting beds.

Betty...enjoy the bird serenade....and do take care.

Mary, Mary Mary...
whose boss is quite contrary.
All that I can say is hope you have a lovely day
and all your Hibbies win...hurray!

Hope you feel much better soon. (((H)))

And Miss Jujube....you need to shake this nasty cold so you can play outside....grin I love the bird house you made....you are getting pretty good with that scroll saw.

Waving Hello to you all....Happy Cinco de Mayo....OLE!

Jean

Verona, ON

LK well it is a bad thing your dad keeps getting these infections he can reach it to pick away. Most people of his age can't do that. Sure hope he gets some relief from the infection soon.

Back in already the black flies are horrendous today. AS soon as I started to work up a sweat they were all over me. Like Barb I get quite ill when bit so I headed right in. I'll spray later in the area I want to weed and that will help.

Mary if you work today do you ge a long weekend sometime else or are you gathering up hpurs to use when you go to the reunion? Git better soon !! Do you still have that cough?

Aw Judy nothing worse than the spring/summer cold. Couple hot toddies should help ya out.

Better look for something to eat. Slim pickings in the fridge and I shopped yesterday. What's up with that?? Debbie I put out 1 of those Cowboy steaks so I will try the BBQ for the first time tonight.

Dianne

Victoria Harbour, ON

Dianne, back inside for a bit as well, don't usually get them as bad as they are but yikes head feels like they've nested in my hair..not, but I'm itching so inside for awhile.

weeded the DG garden, the one that is at the back of the yard with the dg sign post and found a few flowers open..make it worth the effort when you see such pretties. Amazing those beds have the worse soil, nothing but rock and sand and look what grows..

Thumbnail by Bettypauze Thumbnail by Bettypauze Thumbnail by Bettypauze
Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Well doesn't that just figure....a pretty day and the darn flies show up....Sorry Dianne. Same thing here...shop and then have to scrounge for something to eat...I blame it on an 18 y/o boy with a healthy appetite....could Diesel be doing the same? LOL

LK, sorry your Dad is having so much trouble....even "clean" hands can cause infections....don't really know how you could stop him from picking at it, but maybe get him to wear disposable gloves and apply Neosporin when he is through???

Victoria Harbour, ON

Dianne, my refrigerator must be your refrigerators twin..not much in mine as well..did do groceries but most went into the cupboard.

Jean you are a poet..love it, made me burst out laughing..will be nice for your region as is ours to go back into proper seasons..poor Mother Nature knows not what is happening. How is your grandson doing, excited about another year of schooling behind him.

Debbie, love the photo's, I have 8 flowering crabs, the one nearest the pond has leaves just opening so likely be in full bloom when Joyce and the girls arrive. You are likely a few weeks ahead of me in the garden..love the photo's

LindaKay, your dad must be really agile to be able to reach his foot to scratch, doubt I could do it.
let's hope new meds work..

Lanikila, how disappointing for you but you did say you spent a lovely day with the ladies, that's worth something..I'm sure they will sell at your next event!

Marion, hope you are enjoying your day, how right they are when they say 'kids say the darnest things'
Funny what they think and come out with..too cute..hope you take photo's

Susan, that is warm weather for you as well, will you follow suit and get some gardening done?

Well, going to try weeding for a bit

Lyndonville, NY

Oh Dianne, those steaks are just amazing! I splurged and got some at the meat market, not your Cowboy steaks...but I hope they will be good.
I usually just pick up a pack of steaks at the grocery, but these were fresh cut. Also got some butterfly cut chops that I will stuff one day this week.

Wanted to comment on all those "surprise" blooming flowers you are finding under those leaves....they are right on time and sent special!!! What bright
spots.

Izzy and I walked in the shade. She just wants to play frisbee and won't take no for an answer, so I rolled it. She is pouting!! Told her
to slow down....I even fixed a "bed" up on the loveseat for her. She stayed there for a minute...now is on the floor still pouting.

Linda Kay, that must really be bothering your Dad to pick at it, and yes...maybe wrap on it such.

Betty, flowers look so pretty.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Our Foodland in town sells cowboy steaks..I think I've a couple in the freezer, should check..I find one is more than I can eat so cook it, save the remainder after slicing thin for stir fry.

I need to prepare some meals for next week, sure she told the girls who are driving up from Cincinnatti with her that a cook I'm not so will decide on what I can make that I don't screw up too badly.

Debbie, am sure Izzy can sense what you are about to do, the letting her run naked, she is trying to make you feel badly in advance so you won't go ahead with the groomer next week. She has been shut in for the winter so best you let her roam.ll

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Thanks Betty...grin. Yes, Jordan is very excited...he has his final exams the first three days of this week. He will then have his first year of college under his belt....grin. He is hoping to increase his hours at work this summer. He has discovered he LIKES making money.....the shock will come when he starts paying more of his expenses...lol.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Dad is not that agile, but if there is even a mosquito bite he will pick it till he has a if sore. With his toe, he leans over while sitting in his wheelchair, and he has fallen, out several times. The nurses had to pick him up, and they scold him all the time, but he still tries to pick... He can't wear shoes, as he is supposed to let the air get to it, so now they have a lot of,gauze wrapped around it, hope that helps!

mulege, Mexico

Linda, how about a cone on his foot? Maybe I've been watching too many dog shows.

Having a lazy day here as my head has been throbbing since I woke up. If iti's not one thing it's another.

Tony hung up all the laundry for me; yesterday he washed the stack of dirty dishes. I cooked another big pot of chicken and rice so the dogs are happy.

I've taken a pain pill and my head is still throbbing. It will pass but it sure keeps me from moving around.

hugs, katie

Lyndonville, NY

ROFLMBO OH Katie, That gave me a big smile...and thinking if I had a cone on I couldn't reach my hives to itch! LOL

Verona, ON

Betty at our Foodland you cannot buy the Cowboy steaks as individual steaks. They come frozen in a package 2.27kg in weight. All individually wrapped though - on sale this week at Fdland $29.99 ..... a whole $5.00 off.lol

Well you do have to say LK that your dad is 1 determined guy when he has the itchies.

Speaking of itchies , how are yours this afternoon Debbie? It is definitely sap or something in the bark of the tree that is getting to me. I went this morning to wrap a tree and about an hour later a rash line develoed at the glove line.

Diesel has proclaimed it his job to return to me all of the weeds I have pulled and thrown down the hill. Wish I could teach him to pull those weeds in the first place.

Moon chuckling at Jordan liking to make money. Wish some of the young people around here would develop that like. I have lots of work so I could use an extra pair of hands. No takers at all. Does he have something in mind to buy or is he just saving for school?

Katie I am so glad Tony is there to help you.

Love the photos Debbie - especially that 1 tulip.

Dianne

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Dianne, be careful what you wish for, when you say Diesel would remove the weeds! He will be removing your good plants too!
Katie, that is funny about the cone for his foot, but an excellent idea at the same time. I will have to tell my sister! Hope your headache is gone soon!
