Best/Worse/What did I learn today?

Morning everyone, pretty sad that explosion caused so much damage and so many lives were taken. So far they are saying at least 70 at least have died. There are still several people unaccounted for, including several firemen. So sad!

Sending prayers to your area Linda for all those people lost and survivors as well. What incredible devastation. When I heard the word fertilizer, all I could think of was the Oklahoma bombing years ago. Such sadness for Texas.....

There are just no words..what I'm thankful for though is that it was evening and not during the day when all those children would have been in school with school soooo close by.

if I do likely just leave at 5:30 Saturday morning..would give me the opportunity to get fabric AND do a few mailings..we will see

ok - Bob bought me some praline nuts, and I don't like them (too sweet/sugary), so thought I could use them in a recipe - any suggestions?

I'd put them in a short bread like carrot or banana bread You could cut the sugar in the recipe some.

It is a gorgeous day here. Perfect temperature and flowers and buds and birds all over. The schotia tree is blooming and the birds love it. Sure wish you were all here - we could go to the beach and veg. Being alone, I cooked liver for the dogs and me and am cleaning the kitchen. Such a gorgeous day it's still fun.

Yet more tragedy only miles from Boston, Prayers go to the policeman's family. Believe one of the Boston bombers shot and killed, his brother 2nd bomber being sought..most of Boston downtown downtown area shut down..praying he is found!

Talk about a storm that rolled through last night, am sure there are many who will sopping water out of basement this morning...haven't been downstairs yet and I'm hoping I'll not be one of them.

Still undecided if I shall go to Buffalo after work today or early tomorrow morning. I will go through my projects and see what I need in the way of fabric/batting/threads so I can take advantage of Joann's sales. Drats if you spend over $50 you get a 25% off everything but must be used the weekend after so it will be a waste.

Funny how it takes so little physical work to let you know some things you shouldn't be doing, for me it was minimal raking. Last night I was hurting big tome, took a few painkillers, got into bed and couldn't settle in..tried 4 pillows in hopes it would ease pressure in my neck, when it wouldn't I thought I'd use voltaren,always masks the pain. Because I cannot reach back of my neck I use a spatula, add the voltaren and butter the neck, it works!

Well all of a sudden I could smell mint. Ooops I used toothpaste instead of the voltaren. Lol. So back in the tub for the 2nd bath of the evening. Lol

Working from home this morning, am hoping to get a quilt on the frame, finish putting one together, ready for quilting and a bit of housework.lets see if I can stay focused and at least get that much accomplished.

Yes, the whole of the Watertown section of the Boston area is in Shutdown now. No public transportation of any kind - all stopped. No schools, no businesses open, no one allowed on the streets and the police are searching door to door. It is one very scary place to be right now. We just heard that the killer that escaped was so desperate to get away that he ran over his buddy that had been shot!!! No respect for anyone or anything at all.....

Off to do my breathing machine. Have a wonderful day all......

How this is bringing back memories..remember being glued to the tv for weeks after the the NY Towers bombing and am doing the same here this morning..seeing Rudy Juliani (?) speaking of hi tech FBI /Home Security and other agencies, the installation of cameras that are monitored..just how far they have come working as a team should be a deterrent to such terrorists..

Guess I' in my travels to USA, my friendship with you here on DG, the pride I take in the USA makes me feel this atrocity also happened to me!!l

But don't you know that you ARE one of us? What happens to any of us also happens to you and vice versa. Wish it were like that world wide!!!!

Went to put after shoo'ing Missy off the top the black/white quilt on the frame so I could start quilting..drats short width wise so need to buy more, so, now that I've shorted myself I'll measure the Periwinkle backing to make sure I've enough, if not, great opportunity to pick up more...seems I'm always out of fabric/batting/backing and thread. I often wonder what I do with my $$$..I've a good idea where it goes.

In the Barrie office, talk about lousy weather coming in..actually in my laundry room I had to mop up a bit of water off the floor so here is hoping we won't have further torrential rains while I'm gone tonight.

Hi - yes, back from interview. Sure I won't get it - they want more experience in Project Managers than I have - I've worked with one, who had 3 projects, and they want me to have worked with 3 Project Managers that each had their own project.......
But, the fellow I interviewed with on Tuesday has 2 clients he'd like me to work for (one of...) and there's a 3rd one he's become aware of as well. So, maybe he's the one to get me a job - a Perm one at that......

Ahhh, bet you are disappointed..let's hope a job will pan out from the other contacts..

I sure hope so! Anyway, now people are noticing my resume again......... !! That's a good thing!

Betty, we have bad wind warnings again and heavy rains predicted.....PLEASE be careful.

Got here at 6pm..1/2 hr to cross..going to tell you there was a one up for miles/miles crossing to Canada..they were checking absolutely every vehicle.

See they have 2ndbomber cornered..if apprehended shouldn't be a long wait for us to return home.

Young man at front dest said theman they stopped who looked suspicious early this a.m. Had slept at this hotel..stopped because ofMassachusetts plates..police checked all the video cameras to make sure he was indeed here and what time he was here.
