Best/Worse/What did I learn today?

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

LK - this is horrible........... so senseless!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Evening..I typed this a few hours ago, couldn't access dg

Prayers to those who lost their lives, the injured and to the USA..got to be hard for all of you knowing this is caused intentionally..listened to the news on the way home, the Library explosion had just taken place..heart goes out to those poor families getting such calls today..understand just over 200 from Toronto region were in the race..

Dianne, the burning ban is apparently all the time ow other than for cooking purposes..drats and more drats..thank goodness for the forest Asa in the back, just raked 4 wheel barrels and dumped them, likely 300 more to go..doubt I'm kidding!

Dianne did you decide on a pet for Diesel? Isn't it glorious to get out and work in the yard.

There were a few teens out near the variety store, offered $10 per hour, kow it's not a lot but is better than minimum wage, not 1 took me up on the offer of earning spending money..guess parents just give it to them so why work for it..

On my way home I was coming down Vasey Rd. just enjoying the day and I saw a young girl, early teens walking, a black car was at a slow pace following her, I was quite a distance as I watched..she moved a bit more, walked on the other side of the road and there was the car..I passed by, young girl's back was to me and the person in the car had a hat on turned but still moving slowly so couldn't see to detect if woman or man..I got to the crest of the hill and thought it was odd, hmm what if, what if and I didn't get a plate number, what if the lung girl was in trouble, it's a long road with little to no traffic on that concession, decided to turn around and go back, young girl was walking further off the road and the car still following..I pulled right up beside the vehicle, young girl turned around, woman in the car turned around..I asked the young girl if she was ok?? Mom said yes, she needs to have 100 photo's so she can edit and be graded in her photography class...nothing like having an over active mind.. Guess because there was an Amber Alert last evening going on the bottom of tv screen it made me wonder.

Years ago I saw a van near the community center I. Managed..car was there several days, a man just sitting watching..bothered me, called police, ooops it was a team of salesmen for vacuum cleaners..guess one salesman would go in the other kept inventory in the car..police was great though, understood with all the kids in the facility and said better safe than sorry.

Think I watch too many mystery shows. Lol

Morning,

oops just dropped my coffee mug, smashed the cup..oh well, I had drank the last drop just a sec ago..hope that is not how my morning will go..

Rained last night, will clean things up. Did raking last night and was amazed at how green and how much growth there were under those leaves. As I was lifting leaves into the wheelbarrel I could smell the wild geraniums..

How did the appointment go Debbie with Shannon???

Deb, how are you feeling this morning?

LindaKay are you still experiencing those high temps..amazing when I watch the weather, can pin point where many of you live, interesting.

Susan, thought I'd show you my little critter eating last night..ate almost all that was in the dish then sat looking at me as though to say 'aren't you going to fill it again?' lol

Few things I need to get done before leaving for work..gab in a bit

Morning everyone!

Victoria Harbour, ON

No, dropped it on the cement floor and it rolled under the chair.

Just called Darlene and the girls to make sure all are ok..major accident at Port Severn cut-off..just down the street from where I used to leave and where some have to travel to get to myself. They are painting today so was worried..all accounted for however am hoping no one I know.

Brought fabric in today..Suzanne is here 1/2 day then off to the dentist..need about 12 more blocks for the piece I was working on yesterday so might as well get them done.

Suzanne will be gone for lunch so I'll head out to Fabricland and see what fabric I can buy for Darlene's mom Memory Tie Quilt!

What are you all up to?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sure hope no one was seriously injured in that accident Betty! I have been lazy, I need to get off here, and start sewing.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Betty - lol you gave me my laugh for the morning! What a cutie Thank you lol
Was anyone hurt in the accident? As you said "major", I'm thinking that would be a "yes".......
The cup wasn't anything special, was it?
Geeze - you work so Hard at your job (it IS quilting that you get paid for, right?!?!)

Well, time to get everything in order for my interview today. Need to make sure I have all my documentation, etc. It's not for a specific job, but it's with an agency that I've never been to before.

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

I am going to do some sewing today, not sure which project I will work on?? but most definitely need to do some sewing.

I need reverse sides for quilts for Malena, and Ryleigh. Making a baby quilt for a friend, that NEEDS to be finished soon ! have to make a tote bag for someone else?? not sure where I will start??

Victoria Harbour, ON

Thunder we should go on a sewing weekend somewhere and do piece work method type sewing!
Your days are sure filled..you must sleep well at night. When is the date for Ryleigh's arrival?

Brought 1/2 tote of christmas fabric to work, decided I'd cut and re-organize as to entertain myself. Maybe when Suzanne is away this aft. I'll take my sewing machine out for a few hours.

T.V. bingo night, hoping that it stops raining long enough for me to rake a few beds..trying to put in a few hours every each day..

Lyndonville, NY

Appointment yesterday went well. Doctor agreed tonsils need to come out and biopsied. First she has to see the Oncologist to have the blood clots addressed, which is April 24. According to what they say/find...she has to be off blood thinners for a week before surgery. ALSO...in this lovely calendar of events we throw in my appointment in Cleveland (May 14) and I have to be here with DD, no leaving her alone for two weeks. SO, as of right now, DDs surgery is set for June 7th.

He told me straight out it is very painful, and she is to be "babied" for two weeks. Do no lifting, bending, anything more than sitting
at a table or laying down...for two weeks. And she has to wait two weeks after surgery to get put back on her blood thinners, this
is why we need to clear it all with the Oncologist/hematologist.

I had dentist appointment first thing this morning, left here at 6:45 to get there by 8:00. Now I need a nap!

Debbie

Victoria Harbour, ON

Wow, at least you got some answers, not the best of them but answers all the same. Amazing that tonsils could do so much damage. Will be rough going these next few months for both of you. Ahhh who doesn't need baby'ing..sending you warm hugs my friend!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

holy cow, Debbie - what a full calendar!! Prayers continue for you and Shannon.......

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Still sending prayers your way Debbie.

Glenview, IL

Good Morning!

Many prayers for the people of Boston, just a senseless act of terror!! I sure hope they find who did this quickly.
Oh and added prayer for Depsi, sending you gentle healing armwraps too, may your healing be swift.
Marion, You and Mom have been in prayers and thoughts too.

Betty, OH my!! How are you feeling today?? You know, I hope that mom was appreciative that you cared enough to be concerned! I wonder how many people wondered about the girl and didn't stop. Bless you for that. Just smiling and giggling at your "blackie" squirrel. i get such a kick out of how acrobatic these pesty fur balls are...ROFLOL, scared the living day lights out of a squirrel, and he me, the other day...After seal painting the Harport floor I went out side and slammed the door shut. Squirrel, screamed and cried, scurrying at lightening speed up the tree, causing me to jump too. had no clue it was resting or whatever, it stopped at a the first tall branch and continued carrying on. LOL, i standing on the begging it to forgive me for the scare. so sorry, sorry to scare you, went in for about five minutes came to check on him and he was still sulking/crying...poor thing!
Hope you find the fabric you are looking for... Oh Betty as far as Julia and her weight loss, it was not fast, she has been really working hard at it for about 6-7 months, she started at 220+ pounds, ideally she'd like to loose another 15. A major part of her weight problem was incorrect eating habits and eating take out.
Since she and David have been together, they have a nice set routine, eating healthy at consistent normal hours..thanks for the compliment, she does look fabulous!

Dianne...So good to see your are able to get out and about, my goodness, going to have to call you Mighty Mouse, moving that tree!!
lol... in case you don't know who that is, it's a cartoon character, a strong but mighty lil mouse, who always saved the day, so with all your mighty mousing saved the day of waiting for tree people, i am sure if you couldn't, you wouldn't...ROFLOL or if you want you could be Atom Ant, another strong little insect!! Oh what fun to remember cartoons of my childhood!!! So anyway's I hope all is back in working order...Dianne, loosing your hydro sure reminded me of when We had a horrible spring storm, Everyone out in the morning to do the cleanup...We, were the only ones to have hot coffee, ah, good old fashion camping percolator!! we keep on hand, some survival stuffs, canned goods, jugs of water etc. So nice that loaned your generator out,but it also sounds like you have been around the block, I would never have thought about blankets to keep this cool!! learn something every day, wink. Awe well, at least Deisel kept you company and a smile at his antics, hehe, hope he did sleep in. So are you still thinking about another pup?? You have inspired me to get out there and do a little clean up, ended up working for about 2.5 hours before it started to rain. Plan on getting out there again today.
We are to get more rain later and like all weekend...
let it rain, let it pour, let it soak my ground, just please soak in and not give me a swimming pool in the basement, lol, I was singing that, haha, need to get a life!!
And so my gardening aerobics has begun, at long last!! This week, will continue cleanup. We won't be here this weekend, my running back and forth is also beginning!!

Waiving hi Thunder!! wow, you have some fun sewing projects going on, happy happy sewing...LOL, my problem is getting started. Oh love your avitar, is it one of your pieces? Soo pretty and very Cool. Guess who finally got her Ott light? woohoo, me!!! Got it on sale last month for only 25 dollars...lol i was a few bucks short so my sweatie, Julia gave me the extra cash, was ecstatic, and I doooo love it.

There you are Mary!! So glad you got a nice peaceful evening in, just what you deserve!!
Oh Mary and Dianne, Prom is May 17th! I dont know if they every went to look at dresses yet...lol sure hope the girl isn't as last minute as mine were!! So, we also need to figure out where to get his tux, I figure if we order the rental now, then we can order bow and cumberbund closer to time when we know the color of her dress!! But, hey thats going to be up to dad and he...I did the girls he can do Jake! Dianne, oh yeah lots and lots of pictures, and he has already warned Olivia that I'm a nutcase with pictures lol!!
Mary, OMG, I know! This morning it has finally hit home, my little man is leaving the nest, first my eldest and now my baby, lolol and Breenie doesn't understand why I wont let her go, lol then on the other hand, dh and I thinking, just thinking about selling house...The schools were the only reason we moved here in the first place...lot to twirl around in heads.
Today, start gathering things for his trip, washed all his kitchen clothes, going to be a nice mom and iron them too. he leaves for the State competition on Thursday...Oh and when he does go away, he'll be staying on campus, whew all in coming freshmen must. i like the university as they class ratio is much smaller then the normal, only 35-40 per class, will be excellent for him.

Debbie, hope you get all your stuff done, hey and make sure you get your rest in too.

Katie, hope the travel home is good!

Well, geesh, been typing fore ever!!! better get a move on!
Hope you enjoy the day!! Linda Kay, Keep cool over there, and happy sewing to you too.

dryer's buzzing, see you later.

Glenview, IL

Great news Debbie, on the appointment! Wow, you sure will be busy, busy you must carry a calendar with you at all times to keep all the appointments straight!

Ohhh Susan, good luck at the interview!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Great interview - now, he has 2 possibilities - one he told me about, and the other one is for a company that will be "firmed up" in few days. He says I'd be perfect for either one....

Victoria Harbour, ON

Ohhh Judy, now where would you move? would have to be fairly close to Chicago as Steve does a good amount of work there.

Julia sure loss her weight the right way..slowly and by eating properly..you will have to take a photo for us.

Wish that young man of yours the best of luck at the competition.

Went for a walk in the mall earlier and they've set up a formal gown shop..will be open 3 days and if you are a student you get to pick a gown for free..lordy they are nice..wonder if they'd take a seniors card lol
I believe it's manufacturers that provide to certain regions last year's gowns..sure makes it easier for a lot of families.

Doesn't the OTT light make a difference..remember the sale I went to and bought about 20 of them at $20 each..portable without a cord..kept 3 for my craft room and the girls bought the rest of them. I have the large one with magnifying glass and have it sitting near the sewing machine but keep forgetting to put it on.

Susan, well your meeting sounds as though there could be a positive outcome to it..hurrah! When will you find out more

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Betty - I asked that, about timeline for hiring, and they said most of the companies they find employees for want them "Yesterday" so consider that I could be working immediately, IF the company is willing to consider me. He will call with any potentials, before passing on my resume. I told him he could pass it on to Deloitte & Touche (one of the 2 companies that he thinks I'd be Perfect for....)

Victoria Harbour, ON

that's good news..

Spent my lunch hour at the fabric shop, got what I wanted for the tie memory quilt..luckily M & M's has nice dinner bowls, hear the micro beeping so better run..tummy says it's hungry

mulege, Mexico

Got home last night at 630 after driving 12 1/2 hours. Very tired but hard to sleep; watched new of Boston bombing and napped a bit. Should sleep tonight. We got most of the van unpacked. It was stuffed. I was pulled over at customs when I entered Mexico but the customs man remembered me (or my van) and was very nice. Checked my papers, asked some questions and passed me through with no hassle. Sent Tony home after work with Easter baskets and several bags of other gifts.

The dogs all slept with me or on me last night. Max was so happy to see me; he let me pet him on the back of the head - usually a no-no. I brought back three dvd's and two books of Cesar Millan, the dog whisperer.

More when I've gotten some sleep.

hugs, katie

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Glad to hear you're back, safe & sound, Katie!! I can picture a lot of sleeping in your immediate future - 12 1/2 hours? Yikes! I can't do more than 2 hours drive at a time - then take 1 hour break LOL
Sweet that Max let you pet him :-)

Victoria Harbour, ON

Glad you are home safe and sound Katie..you'll need the week to catch up on your sleep..bet furries and Tony were glad to see you. Laughing at the border patrol perhaps recognizing you..think they recognize me as well when I cross over at Lewiston/Buffalo lol
Are there any after effects of the accident..has everything been repaired?

Just place some block I made with scraps on the table, thought I might sew them together, still deciding if I can make 4 more blocks where I included the darker ones in the center, would look softer if I could find similar fabric.. however ,after working a couple of hours outside raking and cutting down dead shrubs brush it's more like a bath, feet up and wait until Ann gets here for 't.v. bingo'

Happy Birthday Bev! Have a wonderful day and enjoy yourself.

I so enjoy your pictures.

Off and running....be back in afternoon.

Debbie

Victoria Harbour, ON

Bev, glad you are spending time with your sister, that will make today that bit more special.
I sooo love your photo's, you sure know how to get the most out of a capture.

Big sigh, worked outside for a bit last night raking, crink in my neck..brought quilt squares in to rotary cut into perfect 4" squares..think the way I'm sitting isn't helping me any, so a break it shall be.

Debbie, you are off and running again today?

When cleaning in the back where the bedroom deck is I noticed that I had forgotten to take in the glass birdbath..all cracked, threw it away this a.m. in the garbage bin..the store across the road that I get my metal art from has glass dish/stand, owner who knows me now said he'd sell me just the glass part so I will go at lunch and pick it up and hope that it fits the stand..$45 later so hope I remember to put it away this fall..

mulege, Mexico

Good morning everyone.

Happy birthday, Bev. Have a good one.

Slept about ten hours last night. Except for when I accidently woke up Max and he went nuts but did n't hurt me it was great.

Tony said everyone was happy with the first. Having gifts for the kids when I get home is one of the best parts of the trip. They were especially delighted with the Easter baskets which I'd gotten for 75% off. I'd also found two Tony the Tiger t-shirts which I got for Tony and his son Antonio. Big hit.

Still some unpacking to do and sorting out fabric for the girls. I brought Barbara (Tony's daughter) and her two girlfriends tote bags (from the thrift store), scissors, needles and a pattern for making fabric flowers. I'm collecting fabric, ribbon, trims and buttons so they can have fun. So little of that kind of thing is available here I really stock up at thrift shops in Ca. The girls are in their early teens so this is fun for them. Nice to be appreciated as you all know.

Lots of things are blooming here and the weather is perfect, especially in the early morning. I brought some bulbs back with me. I don't usually have much success with them but hope springs eternal. I think they will do better if I remember to plant them instead of leaving them in the bad and finding them six months from now.

Enjoy the day, everyone.

hugs, katie

Glenview, IL

Good Morning!

Happy, Happy Birthday Bev!! many ArmWraps to you.
Enjoy the a day of fun/love with your Sister. So glad she is settled, near you?
Oh My Gosh, just love your photos of the Cardinal and Baby Robin!! You capture some fantastic shots, just love them!!

Careful in your travels Debbie.

Betty, ohhh, how pretty your latest piece is!! Glad you were able to find your needed materials.
On possible move, well, it just in the the pre-discussion phase. But We have always planned on busting a move when Jake was done with high school.
LOL, kids still don't want us to move, they like it here. If we do, most likely move to Wisconsin and live in the Cottage during Summer months and in Winter go someplace warm!! Then another idea is to move to Chicago, we have Condo's in the City, with the same winter agenda. ROFLOL, bottom line is we are staying put at the moment, he likes to dream big with a lot of options, my take, stay here for the next 8 years...1 that's how long we have on the mortgage, and 2, if we moved to either place, we'ld have no where to put all HIS junk!! and 3, depends on the selling market.
...Speaking of which, yaaay the man finally listened to me, not going for that property he was looking at. The investor liked it but after talking with neighbors and checking into other reality in the area, it's wouldn't be a good investment, do to it's location.
Oh yeppers!! I just love my Ott light, it's just a table top but it's perfect for my work area. Thunder has several and since I've seen hers, I knew I had to have one too. OH man would love to have one with a magnifying piece, lol way out of my price league though...ROFLOL, asked for one for Christmas, What i got was this little bitty adjustable magnifying glass...lol, nice thought but, bang my head on the wall, and put some money away and watch for sales.

Oh Barb, Meant to say Yippeee, on getting your oxy re-certified. and that Norms appointment went well...Are you sewing?? I can just imagine your re-organizing.

Susan, so glad the interview went well, crossing fingers, you land a job soon.

I have a ton to do today and I think I may try and talk DH out of going to Wisconsin this weekend., but I doubt it. Oh well at least everything is ready to roll when he is...
Well better get moving, Enjoy the day.

Glenview, IL

Oh Waiving Hi Katie!!
Sorry meant to also comment, so glad your home safe and sound.
Awe, so Glad Max was so happy to see you, along with the others of course.
You are such a doll to always think of the kids and bring home such goodies to share!
wow, Just love Tony the Tiger, lol but who doesn't? So glad Tony and son like them too.
Wow, you slept well, good for you!! Yep, get the bulbs in the ground!!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

hooray for you, Katie - sleep & productivity is GREAT!
lol I watched the movie Hope Springs a couple of days ago - really a good movie....... and your mentioning that phrase reminded me of it

Victoria Harbour, ON

Ahhh Judy, you didn't say you were semi retiring?? came as a surprise but a welcome surprise..you listed 2 different choices, go with summer at the cottage and winters down south. Kids surely would miss you and I'm sure you will miss them big time as well.

Katie, glad no bite when you woke up..sounds like you will be teaching area kids to do projects, how exciting..pass on your knowledge. Mexico wouldn't be the place for me then, I'd so miss fabric and craft shops. Bet it's absolutely lovely at this time of year..all the flowers and new growth

Taking an earlier lunch, Suzanne tells me her tummy is churning lol chinese it is then I'll drop into the Garden Center to pick the glass piece up..my bowl had flowers, not sure what he's got set aside for me.Doesn't matter at least I'll have replaced it.

Thanks about the quilt Judy, did finish it (all except for quilting) and am 1/2 way through what the tutorial says to do with leftover pieces..far too muchwork for what you get out of it. Was going to chalk it up to a 'never again' project and now I have 2 reasons, one too much work for value and the other dimensions given were incorrect, so that is that.

Am looking forward to doing Mae's tie quilt though, perhaps Friday if I'm not committed to something else..will have to go back and see if I posted about Sharon and doing valences/pillows etc. If I didn't mention it will do on my next sewing break.

Victoria Harbour, ON

I thank the Lord that the capture of the Marathon bomber has been identified and arrested..hopefully the breaking news report at 5pm will provide further details. Seems a department store camera and newsreel helped identify the individual..

Verona, ON

Absolutely goregous day weather wise in honour of Bev's birthday. Happy Birthday Bev and thanks for sharing such wonderful weather with at least me and I would think Debbie too.

Going to go to the news channel to listen to this report Betty.

Dianne

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, I would contact who you got the patterns from, and complain about getting two wrong patterns!

Fox news just posted they have not arrested anyone in the bombing, all false reports.
