Sweet Interruptions # 350

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Glad to hear he saved your computer!

Anyone heard from Cindy?

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

This techie didn't cost me anything, but now I'm concerned that this "security" system I just paid for is liget. I'm always worrying about something. My computer is going on 9 years and this techie says I don't need to buy a new one. So many scams around and I'm so stupid on most computer skills. Just don't want to be without security. I must say though, computer is running so much better. How come it is always a person from India that we talk to. At least I could understand this one very well.

Must go and check out a picture to post for my avatar.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Pegi - if you request a tech within your own country, you Can get one.........
What version of Windows do you have - Vista, XP, 2000, or 7?

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Thank you for your well wishes and prayers for my niece. I am very glad that she'd be getting help. Times like this, I wish I'm closer and it won't cost me an arm and a leg for international air ticket!

Pegi, isn't it great that you have an honest techie that told you that you don't actually need a new pc?
Norton Virus comes with our internet provider.
Did Darwin managed to fix the truck? Hope your son would help him.

LK, Cindy must be busy with gardening or riding on her Harley.
I know she's alive as she did dmail me yesterday saying that she didn't notice the frog Sears sent her was damaged.
Got her all the info she need, as she can exchange it from her local Sears even though it's bought online.

Take a break from play time, Sue. We want pictures!!!

Susan, you know we wish the best for you. May this be the one! Prayers sent!

I've been busy sewing. Fussy cuts and making sure all points meet with pinwheels :D
Yes.. fun. fun. fun.

Sis Kathy... Marion... hope your brains aren't crammed with worries.
Give all to God. Hum.. easier for me to say.. but not to do!! Lol!!

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Hi Ladies,

I've been lurking here.......not much to chat about really. Updated 3-B House swap there are two of us who have not received. I'm not worried about mine ^_^ I know she's been a busy little girl ^_^ and I know it will be worth the wait!!!!

Yup on the gardening, got pepper seeds germinating. I have been going thru all my flower seeds and spreading them here and there. Picked up a grape Tomato today, going to plant, carrots, cukes, cantaloupe, watermelon seeds, not sure if they are good but oh well. This is my goal plan for side of house ^_^. Have a couple od houses to go out there but need some post and weather proof them.

No haven't been on the Harley yet but hoping tomorrow. If I can get Doug to stay home for more than an hour.......A friend of his was hit by a 17 girl, she ran red light.
He had just gotten his license back and his bike registered. It was touch and go for awhile and they thought he'd be paralyzed, but he is doing good and Doug and friends go help him out with things. Today they are doing yard work for him

Guess what? I didn't get through to the woman who emailed me re: my resume on Workopolis, but while I was out for coffee with a friend of mine, she mentioned her husband's company and said I should see about applying there, PLUS when I got home I found a msg on my phone re: an employment agency. I spoke to Phil at the agency, and we had a phone interview, now he wants me to meet him on Tues 9am! This agency does mostly perm placement.
So, I will contact Judy's DH, and see what they have there (if it's on the phones only, I don't mind. I've done that before, for Cust Service as well as IT Support).
Wouldn't it be wonderful to get 3 offers????

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

September would be a great month, as you'd be settled by then Sis Kathy.
Kel and I have plans to go down to Louisiana for Thanksgiving, if all goes well with his dad. Guess we could have an early Thanksgiving at your place :D

Morning sistahs!! It's gonna be a crazy glass of cold chocolate milkshake for breakfast today! Darn it's too warm for morning, but at least it's not snowing.

Off to search for more 'pastel' fabric and rotary blades.
You all have a perfect Saturday now.

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

oh my goodness.......... I will pray for your Sissy....... the Good Lord will look after her.

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

thank you. I told the vet I didn't want her to suffer, he has her sedated, and said he has to try to bring her back. giving her heavy duty anti-biotics. but it don't look good. he will put her to sleep if she don't show signs of improvement. I think Michael is taking it harder than I am

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

If the Good Lord wants her over the Rainbow Bridge, then it's His will.
I will pray for you all - it's really hard losing a member of the family.
When I spoke to my Mom the other day, she asked "And how is your cat?" She'd forgotten Baby's name............
I had to tell her that Baby had to be laid to rest a year ago......

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

HUGS Sis. Praying the antibiotics would pull her through.

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

thanks, i'm so heart broken. kaden is here visiting, he keeps asking when i'm going to go get her.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

That's a tough one to answer, Kathy............... ((((((((hugs))))))))

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sorry to hear Sissy is not doing well Kathy, sending lots of prayers.

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

HI all. LK I have Windows XP and don't plan on changing it any time soon. Just having a little trouble with IE so I stick with Google most of the time.

I made a big pot of potato, ham & cheese soup. DH asked for soup last night and I don't have any in the house. This soup isn't healthy by any means, lots of cheese, but so good. I had a ham for Easter so decided now was the time to use it up. Well, still have a lot to use up so maybe I'll just add more to the soup later on, if there is any left. DH says he has lost some taste buds now, hope it is the meds and he will get it back later.

Got to check out a picture for my avatar now.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

I think I was the one who asked, Pegi........
I have WinXP also (and Bob has Win7), and I'm not upgrading anytime soon, either. No reason to.
It's common for taste buds to go, so whatever he wants to eat is GOOD!

I have a terrific recipe book just for Soup! One thing I like to make if I'm taking to a potluck is a "make your own soup". Make the base - tomato is good if there's vegan peeps in the group - then put out small bowls of add-ons, such as pre-cooked potato chunks, onions, shredded cheese, chicken, beef, noodles, green peppers, veggies etc.
It's really popular, cuz everyone can add their own preferences and the amount as well. They can make it spicy or plain also. Salt & pepper and bread & butter is all you need to complete it.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

That soup sounds good.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

sky's the limit, LK!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Cindy, I am so sorry, didn't mean to ignore you.
Doug and his friends are so kind as to help that poor friend. Hope you managed to ride out today.

Pegi, that soup's a winner for sure!! It would be hamburger soup if you add browned meat to it! Yummmmmm...
Why must things that are good for us be so lackluster in taste??
Even though Darwin taste buds are wonky, I'm sure he knows it's good because you cook it. May the meds work for him.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Sorry Susan, we cross posted! Love that make your own soup, idea.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Cindy - guess I missed the spot re: Doug's friend. I apologize........
Glad he made it and there's no worry anymore about his health!! Scary, for sure.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Cindy, did you get out for a ride today? Sounds like your going to have lots of fresh veggies this year?
Jaye, did you find the fabric tou were looking for?

Well, we had quite an interesting afternoon. We have an empty lot next to us, then have neighbors on the other side of that. The kids have 4 wheelers they have been riding around thier house but a few months ago, they started riding in the vacant lot, and stirring up a bunch of dust all the time, we have asked them politely before to stop, and they do. Until today. This afternoon they were riding the 4 wheelers in the vacant lot, and up and down the street, then a pick up pulled up, to download his 4 wheeler to join them. Well Todd and our neighbor across the street met out in the road at the same time, to ask them again, please don't ride in the vacant lot, and all the teenage kids, and parents came out and they got into a nasty yelling match, you can't tell us what to do! And there was a lot of nasty words in Spanish. Todd pulled the cell phone out of his pocket and called the cops, and they were here in no time, and the neighbors were still yelling profanity at Todd and our neighbor. The cop Seperated them, got the two sides of the story, and told the family, that since the 4 wheelers are not registered or tagged, they can not ride them on the road, and was told the the vacant lot does not belong to them, and they can't ride there either. If she catches them she will give them a ticket. They were still yelling profanity at us as the cop pulled off, so she turned around and threatened to arrest them for harassment! They went into their house and we have not heard anything since. We are keeping a close eye on them, for any future retaliation.

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

Oh LK what an afternoon!! I just hope you don't have any more trouble from them. These teens today have no respect for others.

I found a picture to use as my avatar, of course had a little trouble finding my pictures again. I never did learn how to organize any thing.

My neighbor had a huge bee hive in her tree in the front yard. I don't think she knew it was there, but my son saw bees flying around and discovered it. I called to see if the city would take care of it and early this morning I saw a man with 2 long poles take the hive out of the tree, it really was huge. Good thing our mailman didn't know about it or he wouldn't deliver our mail until it was gone. He is so afraid of them.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

LK - that's terrible!! Glad the police stepped in and told them about the potential harassment charge! Pegi - too bad you hadn't taken a pic of the huge bee hive! It would have been interesting........ And people have been allergic to bee stings - wonder if that's the case for your mailman.......

Tonight for supper I made something different - a chicken pot pie with hamburger instead of chicken. It was good. I used Bisquick for the topping.
And I made a very delish bread pudding. Started with banana flavoured bread (made in the bread machine last week), and with the custard made and baked, I topped it with strawberry jam & marmalade, then topped with meringue with lemon curls on top (I put shredded lemon peel in the custard, too). Bob loved both - 2 helpings of each lol He said he didn't like bread pudding, but he liked This one....... :-)

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Hi Ladies,

Yes Doug's friend is very lucky to be alive. From what Doug told me he was injured mostly hip and plevis area ( lol well not funny but...almost lost his manhood). Girl that hit him told cops at site of accident it was her fault. He's been in hospital 5 weeks and bill is over $1.7 million....yikes......her insurance is paying plus a brand new trike for him.

No riding for me, was too pooped after working out in yard, but tomorrow for sure. Wished I could post a video here of me riding it last Oct.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Wow, that is one hefty hospital bill. glad to hear he is getting a new trike out of it too? Put the video on YouTube, then post the link here. Or put it on Facebook

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Wow Cindy - that IS a hefty bill..............

ok you horse lovers - look at this!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Beautiful horses Susan!

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

aren't they just?!?!?!

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

I didn't think of taking a picture of the bee hive. It was a huge one, really couldn't see it unless you walked right up to the tree and looked up. Branches & leaves really hid it. That would have been a great pic too.

Wow, what a hospital bill!! I pray he heals fast and can ride that new bike he is getting.

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Yes it is a huge bill. Boy her insurance just went sky high, don't ya think??? Doug told me Ricky Ray (his friend) died twice, once on the way to hospital and on operating table...........

Lk I don't want to post the video on FB, because my mom does not know I have the motorcycle. She hates when Doug and I would take off on weekend trips, and also had a fit when my brother said that he was going to build himself another one when he comes home. So until I learn to ride this puppy really well, mum is the word, lol.................

here is link to youtube, hope it works............. http://youtu.be/exl3052bxeE

I didn't ride it very long as that was when my left hand started hurting really bad.

no word on my sissy
didn't sleep very well last nite
got to get moving, lots to do, we are moving Saturday
just ordered speech to text dragon, can't wait to get it
happy sunday everyone

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

Sun is out and have to push myself to get out there and clean up more mess. I have gone out and looked around, didn't know where to begin so came back inside the house. LOL No one else is going to do it for me so just have to make up my mind to do it. DH wants me to cut his hair, beginning to look pretty scraggly. Not much on top to cut any more. After all these years of cutting it I still would never make it as a groomer. Sometimes I would make a boo boo in back, but figured since he can't see it I'll be OK. He wears a hat all the time any way, can't go outside without one.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Cindy, that link did not work.
