Sweet Interruptions # 350

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Kathy, I so wish I could relieve you of these problems but do know I think about you daily!!! Sending a huge hug and prayers..always.

Recheck on the eye today..every thing is fine and now I am allowed to wash my hair. Can hardly wait.

The weather we are having today is nothing short of strange!! Was suppose to get in the mid 70s and I don't think it is out of the 50s so far. Oh well, great day for napping...yes still do that as I am not over the effects of yesterday. Told you I get "good mileage" out of drugs. LOL

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Kathy - you're moving on the 20th, and my Mom is moving on the 11th....... quilte the "moving" month, eh?!?!

Marion - strange weather indeed...... Did you ask at the hospital about the vibrant blue YES above your eye? lol kinda late for April Fool's doncha think? lol

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

I told the doctor and he laughed about my going into the restaurant. He said that they do wash the markings off following surgery but yesterday was a really busy day and he thinks the nurse just forgot. No harm done...provided some good laughs. The markings were indeed to make sure the correct eye was operated on.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

ooooooooh K then....... it was funny though!

hey all
just a quick hello
busy busy
sending love and hugs to you all

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

Hugs for Kathy ♥♥♥

busy busy at work and very tired at home, been doing a lot of nothing....

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

I always do a lot of nothing. LOL Going to turn off our water at 9 PM and turn it on again at 5:30 AM to work on the water lines. Have to fill up the tub with water for "flushing" purposes. I have bottled water in case anyone needs it, but guess we will be sleeping most of the time. I just hope they get it all finished during that time. We just take running water for granted, I would have never made it during the pioneer days.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Nor I, Pegi - I remember last summer when they shut our water off for 4 days. Had water trucks, and port-a-potties in the park, but for some it was a 1-2 block walk. I could just see someone 80 yo getting up in the middle of the night to take a "wee" and having to walk a block........ NOT!!

Pegi - here's hoping this will be all fixed by the time you get up! I'll be thinking about you.......

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone, sure hope your water problems are fixed soon Pegi!

We are in Austin, having a great time. There are so many old vehicles here, some really nice ones, fully restored, to nice old rusty rat rods as they are called. I will post
I tires when I get back home. We're getting ready to have Inop for breakfast, then back to the show for a bit, then I get to go to Hobby lobby this afternoon.
Last. Ignt we stopped at a bar, that was serving Jamaican food, I had to pass and go get a burger later. They had curry goat, or tails, and jerk chicken. Definitely a different experience.

I would love to be in Texas I would love to see Joel olsten church, he was on Oprah the other day. I really like him.
Glad your having good time lk. I am on iPad , it's ok but I do prefer my comp. we are killing wasp like crazy here At our house, they hatch out of the logs every year. ,we kill up too 100 or so evert year, by summer it will go down

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Sue - have you tried the brown paper bag "fake wasp's nest" trick, at the eaves?
It works quite well for those I've seen use it (I've never had a problem with wasps here).
They even sell them, but an ordinary lunch bag works too. Same size.

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

Sue, have you had lady bugs?? we used to get thousands of them on our logs!!! most of them on the outside thank goodness!!!! they are as cute as can be butttttt ..... en mass not good!! did you know they release a "spray" when frightened ? well it stinks and when there's thousands !!! YUCK we used to suck them up with a shop vac, 3- 4 times a day !! it was crazy

never heard of that bag thing???

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

A lot of people use the bag thing for wasps, cuz that's similar to the type of paper nest they use.

I found out the other day that our church gets an infestation of lady bugs, later in the season, when it gets hot, then cool, then hot again........

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Morning sistahs.
I couldn't come on yesterday as was having problems with the server. The internet's been having very heavy traffic and they couldn't handle it. Caused the pc to freeze up often. Kel reported it and we're guaranteed a month's free usage. Supposedly the company will be purchasing bigger and stronger broadband for the customers.
Even now, I have to type this on a notepad and p/c on to this!
One more month of this, I'll be back on Xanax!

You're very welcome Barb. I learnt a lot from Miss Quilters. Love their shortcut to pinwheel blocks.

Funny about doing the other eye  in red!!! Great idea there Susan! Lol!! I was thinking :MAYBE: would be funny too!

Marion, did you get some flirty winks as well?

Pegi, only time water gets cut off here is when the pump isn't working. I'm glad that we have our own well, as the water rates have gone up in town. With the very huge garden we have, I'll be broke in the summer.

Sue, I love Joel Osteen too. My BFF in Houston attends his church.
I call Osteen, Christ's cheerleader. We need more pastors like him.

Did you have to wear a mask going through the rows of hot rods, LK. I'd be coughing if any were to revv up the cars!
Hope you found the right shade of black you need.
Coincidentally, Kel suggested Jamaican yesterday when we're at the beach, but I rather have plain old salad at Cheeseburger and Paradise.. I myself am allergic to goat, and not up to something too spicy.

Hey Thunder!! At one time we had an infestation of lady bugs. Must be the humidity too. When there were no insects to be devoured, they started foraging on the leaves, and I had to take out the big guns on them.

Sis Kathy, dmail me your new addy pretty please!

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

worked at the house all day yesterday
gonna pack some more today
am getting very tired now

ok sistah's, we can have the gathering, june, july augest, or September. take votes and suggestions

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

WHAT! Harming my precious ladybugs? Oh the pain, oh the shock, oh the sadness, oh the infestations!!! I agree will all..one or 2 are cute, hoards are bad. Besides the little beasties can bite!!!!

No flirty looks Jaye. Mostly this knowing smiles like I didn't realize it was on my forehead. Actually I did think they had cleaned it off. Oh well as long as I get where I can drive again is all that matters.

Kathy, I am exhausted reading all the things you have done.

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

forgot, I gotta do laundry today.
Michael went back to mobile this morning, he spent his weekend working on the house.
I picked out the paint for my bedroom. its called clear blue. its very very light blue.
gotta give the 3 dogs a bath to. the are dirty and smelly. I let them in the back yard with me last nite and they rolled in everything they could find.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Afternoon everyone! We are back from out Austin trip, we had such a good time, lots of hot rods, good food, and sunburn! It was clear and 80 yesterday, so everyone was walking around with red skin! The streets downtown were loaded with hot rods.
Jaye, we did stop at Hobby Lobby, and I found a really nice dark black fabric.

Sue, those are so pretty!

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

"MAYBE" would go across the forehead, right between "Yes" and "No" lol
Marion - ladybugs bite? I didn't know that.........
Kathy - light blue sounds pretty. Do you wash the dogs inside or out?
LK - I'd have loved to see the hot rods in "person"....... Glad you found the right shade of black! (yes, I'm being serious - there are seriously SO many shades.....)
Sue - thank you for posting a pic of your Spring! they're lovely :-)

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Jessica is smiling!!!!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Oh my yes Susan, there is a type that does bite and it hurts.....plus they secrete an odor that is very unpleasant.

Hello Barb, how is the weather in your area now?

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

and I always liked ladybugs....... they're so good in getting rid of other bugs in the garden!!
Well, will have to like 'em from afar then!

i hate them lady bugs. nasty little turds they are
savannah got stung again by a wasp :( poor girl. two in one week. i may try one of the wasp traps , them is usually outside but i may try one inside. don't know what else to do. will call the bug guys too. see what they recomened.

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

I give the dogs a bath in the bath tub. they don't know they are dogs. thet think they are people, and we don't tell them any different

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Morning sistahs.
Sis Kathy, I had a dog that would jump into the bathtub if she felt that she needs a bath. She'd usually do so after stepping in mud!

Sue, you must be very happy as the weather finally is there for you to be playing with dirt, seeds and especially having some blooms finally in Gigi's garden.
Poor Savannah. Lay those traps all around. That might reduce the population, Sue.

You're right Susan, there are so many shades of black, and especially if you want to do an Amish quilt. That required a 'pure' black. I had bought some to do one, and regret not getting extra.

Thanks for the picture LK. The ONLY hot rod show I'd been to was in Beaumont years ago. It was so hot, that I had to stay in the truck. Ex had a blast, not me. I don't speak engines!!

Sorry Marion. I wasn't for killing sweet ladybugs, but it's either them or watching my plants going bald!!

Well, there's a piece of 'invisible' glass embedded in my foot. Will have to try the glue trick.. or tape.. and if that don't work, keep on soaking.
It hurts like #$@t to walk on that foot!!
I won't die from this right?

Oh dear... today is tax day for us too. I know we have to cough up some money for state.

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

I had a black lab and he would go into the bathroom and jump into the tub when I said " jack, it's bathtime" he loved the water. and of course did the prance afterwords.... :)

gonna get some sewing in today !! it has been awhile.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Jaye, I understand about the ladybugs.....I have had to do the same at times. Cuter as pins and ornamentation.

Just had an update on mom and it really has us concerned. The contracted a virus last Tuesday (going through nursing home repeatedly) and Sue has not been allowed to see her since last Tuesday. Reports are she is not eating and drinking very little. Results of the specimens send out on several patients should be back today so they will have some idea exactly what they are dealing with. After speaking with a nurse this morning and finding out mom has not eaten since Saturday evening, Sue decided to take a chance and go see for herself what is actually happening. We are very concerned whether she just isn't eating (which could be she is wearing down) or the CNAs are just not taking the time to feed her as she eats so slowly. Sadly we have witnessed that happening there. Prayers needed please.

Jaye, careful with that foot. Ouch, it hurts me to think about it.

hugs Marion ♥♥♥

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Oh dear, Marion.. sending you and family hugs and prayers of course.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone!
marion, sending lots of prayers and (((((((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))) for you and Mom!

Jaye, you need to go to the Dr, right now, and have that glass removed. You are diabetic, and you don't need to get that infected! Go to an urgent care place if you have one, they are a lot cheaper than the ER!

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

oh Jaye - take care of that foot Right Now!!
Marion - huge hugs for you, Sue and your Mom!!!!! ((((((hugs))))) Very worrisome not to be able to see your Mom, and hear this kind of update......... I'll pray for her and the staff to find out what's wrong.

Did I tell anyone here that my Mom is moving into the Intermediary home this Thursday? My sisters and DD are going to visit her and help pack up to and including Wed night, then help her move Thursday. She's excited about her "adventure". She's been at her home for 52 years, so will be quite an adjustment. Really glad she's happy about the move, and that she likes the administrator :-)
She'll be moving to a bed-sitting room and the home is about a 10 minute bus ride for my brother to visit. I imagine this week, and shortly after the move, that she'll get a lot more visits than she's been getting. My sisters do Not like to go to her house as it's filthy - she can't do housework, and Stan can't be bothered. My sisters don't sit on soft furnishings when they visit - get a hard chair. Between Alice's allergy to cats, and both of their dislikes for dirt, it's nasty. Now they're going to Ikea for furniture, and putting labels on her personal stuff, it's really busy for them all. Wish I were there to help.........

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

JAYE, DON'T MAKE ME COME THERE AND TAKE CARE OF THAT FOOT

Sweet Marion sending you lots of love . i sure hope you can figure out what is going on there. ((((())))) to you
Jaye how is the foot ? better listen to Kathy , cuz she gonna come kick your tushy
Susan sounds like a good move for your mom.
had a good workout today burned up the calories.
made soup but honestly i put to much celery in it and i don't like it. i hae no idea why i made it ? it sounded good at the time but now ??? eh . not so good.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Thanks all for your kind words. Sue called when she left mom. She was able to get her to eat about 1/2 cup of chicken soup but had to be clothed properly. Still sign on mom's door no entry and She said she really wasn't allowed to touch her. Talk about a chore when trying to feed. Very, very weak and had no clue she has been sick or is sick. Memory seems to be very confused at this point but she did ask Sue to call me. She was worried about my eye surgery so I reassured her I was okay. Barely can talk due to the weakness. As much as it hurts, it is truly out of our hands...just want her comfortable.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Bless you, Marion, and Sue. Your mom knows she's being cared for, and that means a lot to her I'm sure. How great that she was thinking about you and your eye surgery. Yes, it hurts to see her this way, but know that the Lord is watching over her and will call her when it's time.
Thought I'd pass this on to you and yours:

A Minister passing through his church
In the middle of the day,
Decided to pause by the altar
To see who came to pray.

Just then the back door opened,
And a man came down the aisle,
The minister frowned as he saw the man
Hadn't shaved in a while.

His shirt was torn and shabby,
And his coat was worn and frayed,
The man knelt down and bowed his head,
Then rose and walked away.

In the days that followed at precisely noon,
The preacher saw this chap,
Each time he knelt just for a moment,
A lunch pail in his lap.

Well, the minister's suspicions grew,
With robbery a main fear,
He decided to stop and ask the man,
'What are you doing here?'

The old man said he was a factory worker
And lunch was half an hour
Lunchtime was his prayer time,
For finding strength and power.

I stay only a moment
Because the factory's far away;
As I kneel here talking to the Lord,
This is kinda what I say:

'I JUST CAME BY TO TELL YOU, LORD,
HOW HAPPY I HAVE BEEN,
SINCE WE FOUND EACH OTHERS FRIENDSHIP
AND YOU TOOK AWAY MY SIN.
DON'T KNOW MUCH OF HOW TO PRAY,
BUT I THINK ABOUT YOU EVERYDAY.
SO, JESUS, THIS IS BEN,
JUST CHECKING IN TODAY.'

The minister feeling foolish,
Told Ben that it was fine.
He told the man that he was welcome
To pray there anytime.

'It's time to go, and thanks,' Ben said
As he hurried to the door.
Then the minister knelt there at the altar,
Which he'd never done before.

His cold heart melted, warmed with love,
As he met with Jesus there.
As the tears flowed down his cheeks,
He repeated old Ben's prayer:

'I JUST CAME BY TO TELL YOU, LORD,
HOW HAPPY I'VE BEEN,
SINCE WE FOUND EACH OTHERS FRIENDSHIP
AND YOU TOOK AWAY MY SIN.
I DON'T KNOW MUCH OF HOW TO PRAY,
BUT I THINK ABOUT YOU EVERYDAY.
SO, JESUS, THIS IS ME,
JUST CHECKING IN TODAY.'

Past noon one day, the minister noticed
That old Ben hadn't come.
As more days passed and still no Ben,
He began to worry some.

At the factory, he asked about him,
Learning he was ill.
The hospital staff was worried,
But he'd given them a thrill.

The week that Ben was with them,
Brought changes in the ward.
His smiles and joy contagious.
Changed people were his reward.

The head nurse couldn't understand
Why Ben could be so glad,
When no flowers, calls or cards came,
Not a visitor he had.

The minister stayed by his bed,
He voiced the nurse's concern:
No friends had come to show they cared.
He had nowhere to turn.

Looking surprised, old Ben spoke up
And with a winsome smile;
'The nurse is wrong, she couldn't know,
He's been here all the while.'

Everyday at noon He comes here,
A dear friend of mine, you see,
He sits right down and takes my hand,
Leans over and says to me:

'I JUST CAME BY TO TELL YOU, BEN,
HOW HAPPY I HAVE BEEN,
SINCE WE FOUND THIS FRIENDSHIP,
AND I TOOK AWAY YOUR SIN .
I THINK ABOUT YOU ALWAYS
AND I LOVE TO HEAR YOU PRAY,
AND SO BEN, THIS IS JESUS,
JUST CHECKING IN TODAY .'

If this blesses you, pass it on. Many people
will walk in and out of your life, but only
true friends will leave footprints in your
heart.

May God hold you in the palm of His hand
and Angels watch over you..

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

(((((((((((((marion))))))))))), you and mom are in my prayers

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Thank you Susan - i have tears....
Sending prayers for you and your family Marion.....
