I'm getting ready to head for California early next week. I hope to see my doctor and pick up supplies for continuing work on the house. Our weather is beautiful now and I won't be in a rush.

Tony's brother who has some mental problems has been doing well for three years but Tony had to leave work early the other day to take him to a care facility.

Wish I could send all of you some of our early summer weather. The air is fragrant with jasmine and citrus blossoms and lots of birds are passing through, singing loudly and eating the rice that the dogs have left in their food bowls.

Will add my wishes for a safe trip also. I am having to use my daughters computer for a few days as mine has died!!! We are going to hold services tonight at Best Buy to see if it can have a transplant to revive the unit. If not I will treat myself to a new one.......only been 5 years since I did that.

My son took me in for my pre-op yesterday. Good thing he was driving because when they had me read the eye chart he started laughing. Comment: Well mom you got some of them right---you could tell it was "L". Not good. Things are all set for the 4th of April.

Best part of the day was going with my son to pick up my youngest GD from school. I was sitting in the back seat with my back to the window hoping to surprise her but no such luck!!! The minute she came out the door I heard this loud..."Grandma is with daddy!". Curious how she knew....reply "I saw the red shirt, mommy never wears red.....only you do grandma." So much for that idea. All in all it was a wonderful afternoon.

Oh Marion, don't feel bad...without my contacts in I can't see the big "E" on that chart!

Shannon update: ENT said tonsils need to come out, no hospital around here can handle 'this child" and
referring to an ENT at Strong.

Also....Appointment to see Cardiologist at 10:00 tomorrow morning as some symptoms are pointing to
the dilated cardiomyopathy and we need to make sure it isn't that going on. She would need clearance
for tonsil surgery anyway....so better to rule things out.

Betty travel safe....and if your travel companion continues to act up....stop and buy her a broom to fly home on!!!
Just not nice at all.

It's 52F/11c now, and going to 55F/13c later, but my car says it's 13c now.....

Glad you will have your eyes fixed soon Marion, once you have it done, your going to kick yourself, and ask yourself why you did not so it sooner!

Linda, as soon as I find out what is wrong with Shannon...it will be worth it. Feel like I am on a roller coaster. DH is home
next 3 days, so that is some relief.

One of my little crocus popped up...a bright orange, so that is a sign of spring and smiles!

just typed a good long message sharing my day & questions about yours and tried to attach a pic, computer locked up & I lost it all.....Darn, I hate that sooooooooo much....Betty, glad you got your replacement machine, hope you're close to home & traveling safely, Debbie & Shannon, God be with you and those giving you care as you travel thru this scary journey....our grandson was born with a syndrome that is very rare & most with it die the first year of life....by the time he was 11yrs old he had had 15 major reconstructive surgeries.....he's 18 this year & graduating HS....we are going down to Reno for the celebration and then on down to Sacramento to see our son & his family, friends we left behind when we moved up here 8 yrs ago this week, and to attend my husband's family reunion.....we had a disappointing visit with the cardiologist today....my husband is having serious complications from open heart surgery a year ago this past Feb.....the questions I have is regarding your friendships & visits....do you guys know each other personally and visited back & forth in person with each other? Oh, I remember the first thing I said in the other message: Tallulah, you cracked me up with that comment about the broom !!! What is MoonBeam, Joe the singer, & Pandora? Marion, with cataract surgery, you'll see colors so brightly.....I just wish I had chosen close up vision rather than the far vision.....I have such a tough time with close work......Have a great day each and every one of you !!!!

Depsi, "most" of us met here on Dave's Garden and met up here and there. Betty lives across the border in Canada from me, and we met
up on one of her visits over here with her DMom. Now we try and get together when she pops over.

Last summer, Betty had a gathering at her home....and quite a few of us were able to go! It was such a fun time.
We had Judy & Steve, Joyce & BJ, Janis & her daughter Stacey, myself...and my hubby Paul. We were able to meet quite a few of
Bettys friends also.

Several months before that gathering.....Norm & Barb visited with Betty also, and I met them coming through Niagara Falls area.

After leaving Betty's house...we traveled around the lake Ontario route, and met up with Dianne at the other end.

Several years ago, Betty came up with the "grand scheme" of me traveling with her down to Kentucky & Tennessee. What a time that was,
but again, we met up with some wonderful DG friends BEV, and Judy & Steve, and Liz & Kenny (who were visiting with Judy) and I don't think
I have ever laughed so much! Oh yes....and we met up with Crissy! (SHE IS A WILD WOMAN DRIVING!) LOL

I owe all these great friends to my brother who got me to join DG....Shoe (aka Horseshoe).

Took my cake with me, piece could quality as a 3 day dessert. Lol and there is a timmies next door..awfully bitter though, likely not finish more than the sip I had.

Missed meeting our Jean when I was in new Orleans, did meet up with Mary though..and yes been to Judy's near Chicago a few times..hoping on my trip to Branson and New Orleans this year I might add Mary to my list..drats we were only stopping for fuel/washroom/take out and run today and didn't get to take 10 minutes to drop in on Joyce..normally I would have..did take I-71 so would have been a slight detour...like it when I'm in control..Ohhh been looking for a froggie, a special froggie for a swap, I did insist to go look in the Ohio artisans shop off I-75 and found a cutie, not big but totally different..was pleased with that!

Depsi, you'd just shake your heat travelling with Debbie and I on a road trip..I'm still laughing

Pandora is a satellite radio station....Mary and I live about 15 miles from each other in different towns so it made sense for Mary and I to share a visit with Judy.

Shoe is fine and Dandy!!! Talk to him "emails or text" almost daily. He helps me through so much....I just love and adore him.
We keep each other in line...and laughing also.

Neither Darlene nor I could sleep, finally decided to get up and at it..means I will have all day at home..imagine stores and post office is closed today so won't be able to do mailing or make my last purchase at Joann's..besides, neither will be open at this ungodly hour!

Susan, no didn't meet up with Mary this time..was referring to last year and hopes of meeting Jean and Mary this year when I am again in their neighborhood.

Well, looks as though we are nearly packed up and ready

Betty, sounds like someone is rushing you big time! Sorry you did not get to take time for sight seeing and shopping!

Got home at 9:30am, sunshine here, ok it's no 80 but it's wonderful.

Through my bags in the door, Kyle was here, gabbed a bit, thanked him for looking after kitties, having my car serviced and special treat for grandma, had taken care into work and did the entire inside, after winter it needed it!

Then outside and put in 1 1/2 of picking up branches (high winds during the winter) picked up some winter garbage, having a bond fire and in for a pop..decided instead of being over zealous and hurt like heck I shall do 2 hrs I'd work on weekends and 1 hr. every day..if I can keep to that schedule I will have the yard cleaned by end of May..won't be so overwhelming..almost tempted to put a chair out and sun myself..could pretend I was in Florida (won't go there)!!

Debbie, sending prayers and hugs for you, your family and Shannon, especially. I can only imagine the stress you are dealing with. Just know there are a lot of us here for support.

Depsi, several years ago several of us who were on Sweet Interruptions thread decided to have a meeting. Unfortunately I missed the first one due to a death in the family. The next year we gathered in Texas and I met Joyce (Cookie), Judy (Seedtosser) and several other who post here every now and then. What a group of ladies. The gatherings continued with Betty having the one last year. Alas I have missed all since Texas as my mom (94) had been very sick and she is up and down. I had hoped to have the gathering this year but due to some unforeseen things...I had to cancel. It is wonderful when you finally meet up with the people. Oh how could I forget Thunder (barefootT). She came to a garden festival I used to chair when I lived in Gainesville, FL.

Betty, I can understand you not being able to sleep. When I am away and then get that close to home ...got to keep going. Hope you were able to relax some and show a little tan from the Florida sun.

Lol. Dianne, is a glorious day, maybe because I'm home..Only snow that remains in my yard it where Andrew plowed the snow to one end of the drive, that is not to say we won't get more. Just waved to the sun and said you need it in yur neck of the woods.


Went next door to variety store and got javex, boiled water and soaked The linoleum painted matt i had left outside, swept front deck so I can out the table/chairs out front to sit for a bit, even tempted to put water in the water feature I covered and left out this winter, was much too heavy to carry in..just got to look for its pump. Lol


ordered fries and hamburger from the pizzeria and quite content to do what one would call 'piddling around'

Might manage to get the back bedroom matt done as well. Have a load of wash and dishwasher on..

Drats, the minute the sunshine shines I think all cleaning and windows have to be done..just know we will get more snow, right Dianne?

Know it's sounds like I'm doing a lot of wor but NOT. Don't want to take a nap now or I will be back up at 4:30 am and if I sit know that is exactly what I will do.

When I went to the variety store next door ran into a long time friend. Ann Stacey (yep, have 2 good friends with same name, no relation at all) who told me her husband had major surgery last week, home but not expected to live much longer...poor Ann, she had a tumor n her head, been fighting hard to fight it and now this.

Marion, I did visit at Thunder's a few years ago, picked oranges, grapefruits, had a lovely visit, met her son, just too bad Thunder was away..lol. Was it on purpose?

All those things are/were beyond your control Marion..know how disappointing it is but life happens right?

Nice to see neighbors out and about..young girl about 14 came over to ask if I might need some work done, looking to make a few $$$..told her raking..said she would be back tomorrow to check what I would like done..figure even if she does a few beds here and there it will help and less I take on.

I burst out laughing at how daft I am.. You all know that I have a little cafe in the house and lots of imitation food, deserts, etc??


Well I was sitting outside and lordy the birds are singing, so nice to hear, it's almost as though they are welcoming me back..looked around no bird seed out so decided that I would put some out, no birds came but I can hear them..continued to eat , looked around and dahhhhh realized it was the wicker cage sitting out front with two battery operated birds, both different and both with different sounds..leave it to me.

Depsi, do not be overwhelmed by our closeness and chatter re knowing each other in person, we've adopted you and one day likely some of us will get to meet up with you.

Have to check, isn't Hamburg NY spring craft show next weekend? Should check..did promise mom and aunt Muriel as soon as I got back I'd take them..they love such outings as the craft show and casino..maybe you and the girls are going?

Oh Betty that sun must have taken a turn south and gone to Debbie. Well at least if I can't have some rays you and hopefully Debbie can enjoy. Yes more snow definitely - the 1 good thing is we know it won't stay on the ground long.

On Wed Steve and I with Diesel's assistance cut and stacked a full bush cord of wood in the carport. I won't have to worry about running out of wood now and will probably have some of this left for fall.

Diesel and I just came in from a little walk and there was a big V of Canada Geese squwaking and circling their way over the lake. They mate in the creek to the east of the house. These are not the CG that winter here either.

Oh Depsi you are going to be so glad you extended your hand to us. This is the most supportive group of women around. No one will ever let you down and someone is almost always here if you feel the need to come and vent.Some of us are not sleepers so there is usually someone around in the wee hours of the morning. I know personally how supportive these gals can be in a time of need so can speak first hand about their support and comforting arms. Plus we have the Santa Warren Gift Exchange at Christmas and that is lots of fun if you want to participate.

Just the mention of fries had my mouth watering Betty. That is the one thing about living way back in like I do - there is no delivery or close place to order Take out.

No wonder Betty's fries got my stomach going - I forgot to eat dinner last night and didn't have breakfast. Off to find something to eat.

Going to boil down sap on Sunday for some friends so they can attend a family gathering. Long day of hurry up to wait but I like doing it. Haven't done it for years so I hope it is like riding a bicycle and you don't forget the steps.

Dianne, it was nice to see the Canada geese flying north with us, confirmed that spring is here...we travelled the 407 and not far from airport is a large pond..Canada geese and white swans galore..would never have thought swans?? Darlene said they were and they were there in the 100's..perhaps they don't fly south. We were just pulling in at customs and you should have hears their honking..they were real not like mine. Lol

Are you planning to stay with the wood this upcoming winter Dianne, is it not a whole lot of hard work for you? Glad Steve helped you.

He was and is our Santa Warren, yearly Christmas exchange will continue.

We lost our beloved Tubby as well, his wife in honor of Tubby and knowing how we missed him so joined in..I was blessed with receiving a piece of art/treasure that he had made..these special happening touch our heart..am glad as well that you decided to join us..

Had a good Good Friday service at our church.
We all wrote things that pained us (initials of someone who we wanted to reconcile with, etc) on a red slip of paper, and then the pastor, another member and I put these on an 8' tall cross made of pine that we have in our Sanctuary. We covered it with red slips of paper, so the Cross looked covered in red...........
We'll have a Sunrise service on a hilltop, Sunday at 7am. Sun rises at 7:13.
It's supposed to have a trace of rain & snow that day, with a low of -1c.
If it's inclement weather, we'll go back to the Church.

We always have Canada Geese here, in Calgary, all year round. Strangest thing to see them flying north in December....... guess it's so temperate here that they don't need to leave. Always some brown crops for them to feed at......

Drats checked on line, was sure it was closed..oh well. Darlene didn't want to take time to even eat in a restaurant, no way I could have stayed around for stores/post office to open..she was on a mission, anxious about kitties with us and her mom!

She has a line of appointments set up. April 8th for a Cadio/Echo/Stress test

April 15 for an ENT specialist at Strong...needs tonsils out or biopsy of them

Aptil 24 with Oncology/Hematology to get her blood issues figured out.

Scary that they think the chest pain and not feeling well is little blood clots throughout her system, but that is speculation.
They want her kept on blood thinners and are getting her in "first available appointment" which is April 8th....but is on cancellation list.

You must be out of your mind with worry! I would think she is one frightened young lady. Sooner answers are found the better. Hugs and prayers for both of you.

Greg just called to say hi and I pulled out my mommy card and asked where to h... Are his brains? Am sure that made him happy he called.

When I drove Kyle home this mornimg as he had my car all week I asked what his dad was up to today,said sledding.. Sledding? Know he lives at the lake, know they've had a lot of ice but come on, day riding up the lakes..didn't even ask if Mel was with him..

Said likely toorrow is his last day out, just what I want to hear, not likely I'll sleep tonight.could be safe but not the thing to be doing..the,I wear floater suit mom' doesn't console me.
