Best/Worse/What did I learn today?Chat with friends

Victoria Harbour, ON

Katie, you are adorable..lol
The day I purchased the machine I had left all my $$$ at the house as I wasn't looking to purchase so Darlene put it on her credit card until I got back to the trailer and paid her back. Do any of you know if there are provisions that if you purchase soething and it's not to the standard you think it is that something can be done?

Not sure I could pull of the acting part (big grin)

Susan, here is hoping all goes well with the phone interview..do you have any idea what type of company it is for? Sometimes it is said people put themselves out of the running because they have too much experience, maybe dropping a few positions would help, you don't want to appear to over qualified.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

It's an IT professional placement agency. Have no idea which position/company they're looking for, so cannot tailor my resume or responses to questions.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, call the company and ask for a manager, and if you don't like what you hear, keep asking for the next person up the chain! Tell them how unhappy you are, and that you will tell all your sewing friends to never purchase that product. That will get their attention really quick!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Good luck with the interview Susan!

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

LK - good advice. "squeaky wheels get the grease"! btw Betty - call the US manager - Canada would just say "we aren't responsible for what the US store says".......

Thanks for the good luck wishes!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Betty, I would have Darlene check with the credit card company....you may get some help from them regarding the machine. Some cc do this but I am not sure which ones.

Lyndonville, NY

I know a couple of the credit card companies have a guarantee about purchasing faulty merchandise and returning it. It depends on the
card.

Good luck Susan!!

mulege, Mexico

I agree that Darlene should check with her credit card company. The town may have a Better Business Bureau. You could also make a sign and picket the place. Maybe Darlene would help. The more embarasment to the store the better. Some TV stations have consumer advocates; you might check around. Also, many state's attorney general's offices have consumer fraud help.

In the wonderful movie "Groundhog Day" there is a point when Bill Murray says, "I'm not going to play by their rules anymore." If the people at the store are uncooperative after making promises to you, you need to remember that they deserve whatever happens and behave accordingly. Don't destroy things, but feel free to make a scene. One of the things I now realize is the extent to which I have let some people bully me. Bullies count on you playing by their rules. Surprise them.

Figure out what will provide maximum embarasment for them and maximum fun with the least amount of work for you.

hugs, katie

Victoria Harbour, ON

Now you all know I wouldn't do any of it..lol
just hope sweet talking works and will also check about c.c.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

We nned to tell Darlene, to make sure she has a video camera with her, when they take the sewing machine back. I can see Betty's video going viral on YouTube!

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Be sure to use the words "False Pretenses" when ya talk to them....you bought the machine BECAUSE they said it would be warrantied in Canada...they should have made certain that was the case before they sold it to you...they didn't...it isn't...they need to make good on it...also check in with Husqvarna US...see what they have to say...

Just got off the line with a representative..POLICY is buy in USA and warantee in USA..any dealer in USA can send it in for repair..buyer beware..must know their rules/regulations

Almmost 2 pm sending you positive thoughts Susan!

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

she was to have called 40 minutes ago, and I haven't heard - she had a meeting that was to have ended then. Perhaps the meeting ran longer........

Victoria Harbour, ON

Let's hope she call soon and has positive outcome

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

There is the ammo you need then Betty....not your fault...you asked and the seller said YES....The Seller is the one who is supposed to know company policy, not the buyer. The seller misrepresented the warranty info...they need to take it back, or guarantee you postage paid shipping to and from you to their store and them to Husqvarna.

Victoria Harbour, ON

The Warrantee card I had to fill and send out had USA address and a Canadian Address..sent to the Canadian Address

Thumbnail by Bettypauze
Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

She said she called and left a message, but I never heard the phone........
anyway, she said (after a few questions) that I would not be a fit with the particular company she was searching for someone for....... but "will keep you on our database"...... siiiiiiigh

Betty - as you sent the warranty card to the Canadian address, it sounds as though you HAVE a warranty with them........ (confused now!). What did the Canadian branch say about that?!

mulege, Mexico

My guess is Canadian branch threw the card away. But I'm a bit cynical. I agree your complaint is with people at the storee who misinformed you. RAise hell, Betty. We'll all be cheering you on. katie

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

yeah - I agree "raise hell"

Victoria Harbour, ON

never did get a warrantee card or anything back from them, those I spoke to in Canada said the card may have been sent to USA company.

Susan, sorry to hear that the call didn't pan out..maybe the next one.

Betty - They likely Did send it to the US, seeing as how that's where it was bought. Probably has a specific code on the machine and the warranty card, that dictate it was bought from a US store.
Sew, US # warrantied in US and Canadian # warrantied in Canada.
Stupid rules, however I imagine that's likely the case.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Betty, the television station in Ft. Myers (channel 11 WINK) definitely has a consumers problem line.....or did. Worth trying to get them involved if nothing else works. Good luck, the people at the store should have checked to make sure the warranty was good!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

I'm sure it will all work out in the end..
time to head home..tired tonight, won't be a late night!

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

Did I miss something?? Betty ?? I am guessing something happened with your new machine? it is not working ?? that sucks, and I agree store you bought it from should at least take it back and give you a different one!
when I got mine the dealer said it would remain at its full value for 18 months, and I could trade it in for a Higher end machine at any point in that 18 months...even up to the last day......

if something is not working on yours surely they should do something.

Most credit cards have some type of policy. good luck.

hugs to Debbie and Shannon

Good morning! Made Peanut Butter Tea Bread in my bread maker - and there's fresh coffee brewed!

Going to take Bob to work (early) and later will be going to Bible Study.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Good Morning everyone! Your up early Susan! Bread sounds good!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all,

Having tea biscuits along with timmies coffee..snowing and blowing but no big amount!

Packed my suitcase last night which was ONLY the sewing machine (bubble wrap and a lot of batting)..likely by the time I pay baggage fee on airline and the bag to carry it in I might as well have paid for repairs here. oh well, lol

quiet day here..I traced the large area that needs to be quilted for the Periwinkle quilt so I can pick a design..will be a way of entertaining myself..

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

actually, made it with Almond Butter - added almonds to make it crunchy :-)
Nothing like having fresh made bread to go with morning coffee! I'm taking some to the Bible Study this am.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Forgot to pick up bread machine yeast, must put that on my grocery list.

Glenview, IL

Good Morning!!
Tadah, we are back in business. OMG this has been just insane!!
So everything is up and running in the new office, yippee and yahooey.
Yaaaay, shut the old system down.

In the next couple of days, I have some work to get done prior to us leaving.

OMG, Betty sure hope you get the machine thingie straightened out...yikes, I know just how frustrating it is to have something and it doesn't work.
So when do you leave? Can't believe its been three months, but I bet you will be glad to have Darlene home again. Safe travels!

Big, big ARMWRAPS,Debbie and Shannon.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Exciting, exciting, exciting Judy..ahhh I'll be close and yet so far
Wish I could join in..

Hug for Steve for getting you up and running..

Look forward to hearing all about your vacation

lewiston, ID(Zone 6a)

I'm grateful to be amongst the ups & downs of this groups lives....I ask God to bless each of you....Debbie, may you continue to have strength & the courage to maintain all this that you are dealing with.....wish I was close to give a hand....I'm praying hard for you & your family 'specially Shannon.....
Betty, practice hysteria before you go.....Yes, you deserve their attention, that what was promised before they had your money in hand.....I especially like the tip about using a TV station's consumer help line.

as to my day: I am a scheduler for NOSDA (an acronym for No One Shall Die Alone, a group of volunteers that sit with dying people that have no family or the family needs some respite) here in my town, got a call yesterday from our local hospital that our help was needed.....got there to assess the situation and the patient is no where near death....I believe sometimes the nurses want us there just to keep an eye on the person so they can focus elsewhere.....tricky situation to pull out of this......have people scheduled up until 3pm today but will have to have a talk with the charge nurse.....hope I can keep it tactful, when we sit with folks 24/7 we run out of volunteers real quick.....keep good thoughts for me today.....appreciate it.....

lewiston, ID(Zone 6a)

Tallulah, sorry the position didn't work out.....one will come....

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Perhaps the nurses recognize that it is hard and frightening just to be very ill and in the hospital alone...maybe the volunteers could add an extra 15 minutes here and there to drop in for a quick hello. Perhaps talk with the charge nurse with that in mind...unfortunately, nurses don't always have the time to "just visit" with a lonely patient. I have a friend who formed YNWA (you'll never walk alone)...they visit hospitals and Hospices to spend time with patients without family. She says most visits are 15 to 30 minutes tops and each volunteer will do a few visits per week as their schedules allow.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Nice to hear of both of those organizations, going to visit those that are lonely, and in need of someone to talk to! Bless you both for volunteering your time!

lewiston, ID(Zone 6a)

TheMoonHowl, that's a wonderful idea....haven't heard of that group.....we are an end of life group, our hospital has chaplains that do the visiting.....Just your encouragement and tips/support means alot....Thank you.....Deb

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

It is just a loosely organized local group, nothing fancy, just friends and colleagues trying to help a bit. Yes, the chaplains visit here too, as do a large number of pastors from the area, but there is something more Familial about a secular visitor....the nurses have been great about passing on bits of info as to marital status, children, hobbies and interests. It makes it more like having friends. We collect yarn, knitting needles, crochet thread and hooks, embroidery thread and hoops, cross-stitch patterns, jigsaw puzzles, copy pages from crossword puzzle books and sudoku books, save paper backs and magazines...stuff like that to share with them.

I think the best moment was when a lady in hospice with terminal CA told me that my visits made her less afraid of what was ahead....a very small cost to me for such a grand return.

Thanks LK.

lewiston, ID(Zone 6a)

LK, God bless you & yours !!!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

The world is blessed having ladies such as yourselves! My sister Sharon volunteers 3 days a week and sits with those who are dying, she has always been in deep depression, odd as it may sound, this has done her the world of good..sees how very lucky she is. Hard on her when those she cares for pass on to be with the Lord but knows they are in a better place after suffering so.

Darlene just called, I think she is very anxious for me to arrive tomorrow. Already planned that she will pick me up, we'll go to Joann's then off to the Ft.Myers Flea market..changes what I'll wear on the plane lol
