Thanks for the coffee LindaKay, needed it to go along with my cherry cheese Danish! As for Greg, Roger would be proud of him as am I, as busy as he is he always makes time for mom. Jeff on the other hand being 100 miles away would say ' hire someone mom and I will pay'. So lucked out on these boys.
Although the storm hit us last night there wasn't much to shovel, was more the wind blowing it around.
Just send e-mails and photo's to everyone who gave me birthday $$$ which paid for the frame..thought they should see what their generous gift bought. Lol
Debbie, did you rest well last night?
Best/Worse/What did I learn today?Chat with friends
Glad to hear you did not get much snow!
I just heard on the news that the news station we watch all the time was on fire this morning. I could not figure out why it was not on the air, so I turned to a different news channel, and sure enough, they had video's of the news station on fire.
http://www.ksat.com/news/Fire-damages-WOAI-TV-building-knocks-station-off-air/-/478452/19373502/-/ls3l63/-/index.html
Wow LindaKay, let's hope not major and soon you'll be on the air again!
Highway was closed for several hours here yesterday, near Innisfil a large commercial storage facility did burn..smoke was so heavy they had to close roads as you couldn't see a thing
Lots and lots of snow here and it is still coming down. It is not the light fluffy kind either. I just shovelled the front stairs and walkway and feel like I have run a mile or two.
So glad you got the frame togther Betty. How lucky you are to have 2 wonderful sons.. I meant to say the other day that it is probably a good idea Kyle is able to drive back and forth to college. I bet living in a dorm would have proved a tad challenging for him - too many new things all at once. I am positive you are all very proud of him. How is Noah doing these days?
Oh LK fire is my biggest fears living way back here. Even though our volunteer fire department is excellent is takes quite a bit of time for them to get mobile. Our house insurance for fire did go down a bit though when they built a substation about 1.5 mile from the house.
Ooops plow guy just came in, I had better go out and pay him. Bet he was glad to see this snow! Our guy works on per plow not contract so prays for snow and ice.
All you people talking about working outside give me itchy hands. How about you Betty?
Dianne
Dianne, don't know if it is better paying per plow or by the season..
I pay Andrew $600 for the season, do you have any idea how much it's cost you so far?
Yes, am getting antsy listening to all these ladies gabbing about their gardens but not looking forward to all the work cleaning the yard and getting gardens cleaning up..almost overwhelming. Just think, tomorrow is spring, think you will see much difference lol I shovelled this morning as well, it was heavy wet snow, great for kids making snowmen.
I have a hydrant on the front lawn and the fire hall is within a mile from me so my insurance went down as well, just not enough.. goes up then they give you a break and you end up with same bill.
Girls called to see how the roads are, they were contemplating shopping in Barrie today and we were meeting up for lunch so waiting to hear from them.
Still snowing here too Dianne. It started last night and we are expecting 8-14" through today. Just what we needed on top of the 6-8" that was still there from the last storm!!! Spending the day watching quilting videos on the computer - Norm is home too and playing computer games so we are spending time together and just goofing off!!! Governor has people to stay home unless necessary for them to be out.
We are about a half mile from a hydrant here but since we rent, the owner pays the insurance. We do however, have renter's insurance on our belongings.... I would have a hard time replaceing these sewing machines now!!! Social Security just wouldn't cut it!
Seems like the weather from Canada to Florida isn't all that great today. It started raining about 11 last night but during the early morning hours it got really hard! Thank goodness we are on high ground!!! About 4 am the thunder and lightning was so bad I got up to check the weather reports to see if there was a tornado alert on....nope none. Just one severe thunderstorm. Kim sent me a message after she got to work that several trees were down on the highway she travels to work. I am so grateful she decided to leave early to allow for things like this happening. People were already starting to move them when she came along. More bad weather (if weather liars can be believed) is reportedly coming our way.
Ah, great day to "love" on my fabric..................
No it sure wouldn't Barb. Glad you and Norm get to have a 'stolen' day together. Warren and I treasured those days!
Betty I am paid right up with the plow guy and so far it is $340.00 - and that included when he sanded. It costs as much for him to sand as it does for him to plow. I am not exactly sure what each person on the lane pays the plow guy. I do know he has a sliding scale and that we are at the right end of that scale. Of course we pay in cash so that helps plus I always give him $100.00 the first plow just so he has some gas money. Others on the lane are not so kind.In fact he still chases some in July.
Snow just these last 10 min has stopped but the Weather Liars say there is lots more to come. From the look of the sky I would say they are correct for once.
Likely then if he's gaining $$$ from others on the lane I'm not that far off..I just feel that once it's paid (must pre-pay) no worries, he is there as soon as a few inches of snow falls. With price of gas these days can't expect season plow charges to be cheap.
Barb you've had one heck of a winter..so glad that Norm is home and you a playday together..like Dianne, I miss that as well..cherished those kind of days!
Marion, know I'm not being nice but hoping all the bad weather stays but ends on Friday so I can enjoy the Florida sunshine and orange juice..I'm bad aren't I?
Today is Darlene's birthday, e-mailed her this a.m. and will call her tonight. Know she is having a rough day.
Still no news as to wether or not the girls and I are meeting up for lunch..wish they would call one way or another
Glad you're home safe & sound, Debbie....sounds like terrible weather back there.....we have had rain, snow & wind but nothing on the scale you guys are dealing with....Stay safe, please.....Mohs surgery is a layered sorta thing, they take some out & biopsy it right there & if anything on the margins they take another layer out......that's done until you have a safe, clear margin......I've had kidney cancer in 1997 & bilateral mastectomies in 2002.....'nuff about all that....
Betty, are those Delta paints I see on the wall? What else do you do besides quilting? got a long day today so better get started.....off to the quilting shop for some help on a project......I'm doing a fleece blanket for our guest room that can be flipped over to a new pattern....couldn't figure out how to spell reverseable ?????? Have a peaceful, Joyful Day Each of you !!!!!!! Deb
Deb, Betty does it all! She quilts, she paints, she is wonderful with wood working and stained glass... You name it she can do it!
That is right, Betty does it all....but when she cooks, she has a fire extinguisher nearby! lol I think she just tempts the firemen to come.
However, I have tasted her cooking at our summer gathering, and she did great!
Depsi, thank you. I am just more than a bit frazzled right now, and trying to sort though everything. I can handle me having trouble,
but with my kids....my mind goes in over drive. Shannon had leukemia at age 3, heart trouble from her treatments, and every so often
a big "wrench" gets thrown in the mess like this issue. She is 22 now, and my hands are tied if she says NO to something the
doctors want for her.
I am finally cooking dinner! I have put on 10 lbs the last month from all the traveling back and forth to Ohio and having to eat out.
FIL is "home" at SIL's house, he is doing amazing. Getting feeling back in his fingers & toes, walking more steady and not as
stiff. He has to wear a soft collar for two weeks or so, no lifting and just heal. As of right now two of the BIL's are going down to bring
them back on March 25th or so, to NY. DH and I are fried from that trip...and thankful the brothers are pitching in.
HOWEVER, they have to remodel the downstairs bathroom for them this week/weekend before they get home and make some changes the
parents won't like much. My MIL is a hoarder and that house needs an intervention.
OK, need to cook! More later
Debbie
Deb..try everything but don't master them all..cooking doesn't interest me lol girls here will attest to that!
Debbie, glad that FIL is doing ok..oh/oh does that mean the boys will have to purge? do you think she has so much that she will not notice some is missing. always a joke around my house, when I buy something it get a home, never to move again, it's almost like when I enter a room is the object is moved I say 'aha' boys often move things just to see if I notice..that being said, where to heck is my sewing machine manual???
Glad to see you posting Debbie but I'm not hearing much about how YOU made out???
Can't help but gain weight with so much going on and eating in restaurants on off hours.
How's the weather in your neck of the woods, did the storm that passed us by pass right on by to Barb's region.
Betty, she knows every thing moved or missing. Last time they were gone two weeks, Dan (BIL) threw out newspapers....she went and purchased
all new ones for the time she was gone!!! She can read these on line for free! She tapes every show, and saves the tape....even though she watches
them while taping.
I will post about me....shortly.
Thunder - thank you. I, too, want it to go as a gentle move for Mom...... she's lived there for 52 years.
My brother was "bucking" it cuz he'd heard of someone dyng after going to a home for 4 months. That's silly talk - they may have had a medical issue....... our Mom doesn't
Omg then Debbie, there is no chance they can purge without getting the what for!
Surely she would realize some has to be done for well being of your FIL??
Waiting anxiously for update about you.
Hate to think Susan the finger pointing your brother would do if something happened to your mom once she is in the home..high pressure situation.
Snowing like crazy again, when will it stop?
How are you making out Dianne and Barb with the storm?
Snowing like crazy again here too Betty. Plus the temp is really dropping fast. First day of Spring tomorrow and it is going to be a cold one.
Diesel is outside with his face pressed against the glass in the sidelight looking in. He does not want to go outside without me and makes me feel so bad sometimes. I just had had enough of his energy just a bit ago and put him out on his leash. He really does need a pup to play with but I am not sure I want to take on a second dog. An awful lot enough easier for me to pick up and go with just 1 dog.
Need to look for something for dinner. Hmmmm Frosted Flakes sounds good to me.
BBL
Dianne
Too funny, I am having Cheerios
Lordy it would be an adventurous thing to do getting a second pup..they sure know how to make you feel guilty.
Riley has been of late asking to go outside,I just figured out why, every time she comes in she gets treats..Missy is the smart one, she stays inside and gets the same treats..
SIL just send me a link for the Florida Song-turning 65. Sure to get kicked off if I play it here so if you wnt me to end it to you let me know
Bettypauze@gmail.com
Just wanted to say I lost address book on computer, only have a few otherwise I'd have emailed it to you already..brightened up my day
Keep your fingers crossed, want to win that tv bingo jackpot tonight, well, Ann and I do, I'm willng to share with her. Lol
This message was edited Mar 19, 2013 5:43 PM
I want to hear it Betty!!! I must go in and change your address......
No need, you have my work email which I also have here at home..
Drats and more drats
Ann got here just befor 8pm for tv bingo, tears in her eyes, when leaving her house she lost her footing, slid across her back deck, hit her head, hit her tailbone going down every step along the way. By the time she got her there was a large size egg on the back of her head and she could hardly move and in severe pain..like the rest of us she said she's bruised and will be fine just won't be moving much tomorrow..with every step you could see her wince..wanted her to sleep here but she wouldn't. Waiting for 10 minutes then will call to make sure she at least got n the door.
Ann said that Tobey actually worked 2 days last week and was hoping to do same this week. He goes back for testing and to see if he needs more surgery and chemo. I believe he goes at the end of the month so she is so hoping results will be ok.
We made a point of calling Darlene, think we woke her up but wanted to speak to her personally vs e-mails, asked if she celebrated her birthday down there, she said nobody knew..just know it was a hard day for her. She did say she now had a pool buddy, male, few years older than herself..said just good company..was nice to hear!
Didn't win the jackpot. Boohoo
Darlene told me to bring the new seeng machine south with me and go complain..Darlene was with me when I bought it at Christmas and heard me ask 2 or 3 different times IF warrantee was good in Canada. Juanita's sew and serge who looked the the machine said it was major housing unit gone..husqvarna is not a fly by night company, certainly should be warrantee here in Canada..Darlene said I should ask for $$$ back..for that I'd have to raise a pretty big stink and I know I just couldn't do it so not sure what I shall do. What was a great bargain no longer is a bargain..with taxes, extra quilting foot and the plexiglas work space I've $1,000 into it. Needless to say I am not a happy camper.
Best I go phone Ann
Sorry to hear about Ann falling, sure hope she is OK! Make sure she does not have a concussion.
Betty, I would take that machine back to where you bought it and make a big stink about it. Tell them you will turn them into the BBB. Better business bureau.
This message was edited Mar 19, 2013 8:47 PM
Did Ann make it home ok? I agree about checking for concussion. They say for a person with head injury (and from sound of that goose egg on her, it IS a head injury) shouldn't be left alone to sleep.
Yes, take the machine back! Had a similar problem years ago, with a camera bought for me (Christmas present) in Ontario. They assured the buyer that they had warranty shops in Winnipeg. The back with the film wouldn't close and we had to tape it shut. NO warranty shops in Winnipeg for the camera. The buyer wasn't going to be in Toronto for quite awhile, so I just "lived with it" taped shut. Awkward, but do-able.........
The Husqvarna (Viking) company IS a big one, so should have warranty depots around. Maybe just not in small towns? I found one in Kingston....... Here's a link with ph# and address:
http://www.yellowpages.ca/bus/Ontario/Kingston/BABY-LOCK-PFAFF-HUSQVARNA-VIKING/7095744.html?what=Husqvarna%20Viking%20Sewing%20Machines&where=Canada&cli=0,8&le=115354bac9a
Give them a call and see if they will cover the warranty.........
Morning, Spring,Spring,spring..you'd not know by looking outside!
Did call the firm representing husqvarna here in Canada and they are the ones that said no warrantee here..
Trying to figure how to pack so not to heavy for me to carry..my thoughts is to look this mornimg in the mall for something on wheels..just took measurement so hoping something is available.
Ann did make it home ok. Had her promise to call me if she felt unwell last night and she promised to call me this mornimg as soon as she wakes..can't believe that egg appeared only minutes after her fall.
Suzanne just called, needs a ride in again so best I get a move on
I pray that Ann will feel fine this am.............
Darn Husqvarna anyway!!
Ann just called me, she's hurting, says not quite as bad as what she thought..egg on her head gone down but can't sit
Sure hope she goes to the Dr. and gets checked out! She may have cracked something?
Betty, you can put that sewing machine in a large suitcase, pack it well with your clothes, and check it when you get to the airport. It should be fine!
Good morning,
Scary about Ann! Sure hope she takes it easy today and rests. Sounds like she fractured her tailbone for sure!
You have asked about how Cleveland trip went. Well...it is the "over view" of the doctor visit.
I saw a cardio-thoracic specialist there. He went over the scans with us and basically, there is nothing they can do right now. I have a rather large spinal cyst, I believe Doc called it a Meningioma tumor of the thoracic spine. It is located on my spine (around the bra band area) and very near the aorta. He said it is one of those issues where "you don't want it there at all, but if we touch it, it I will start leaking cerebral fluid....not good, and more problems." His recommendation is to keep an eye on it, re-scan in a year (or sooner if I get worse) and see if it is growing. Then revisit our options.
He doesn't know if this is caused by my surgery, or if it is something I was born with. Trying to see if I have had any other scans or such in my past that would show it was or was not there.
The other doctor in neurology, whom is wonderful, is working on my neuropathy and pain. They took biopsies in my leg for that Monday. Right now...in a wait game for results.
Shannon is struggling with being ill again. She just has that "why me" thing right now, and I can't blame her a bit. More than her fair share. She has several
doctors following her, and just pray they can keep this in control and get blood levels right and figure out what is going on.
OK, going for some coffee...need it this morning, a big cup!
Debbie
((((((((((Debbie & Shannon)))))))))) You've Both had your fair share.
I will pray for you.
As for the cyst on your spine - Dr doesn't think it's causing issues right now? No pain walking, etc? This is scary stuff, and I will pray today, and in our prayer circle tonight.......
I will be adding my prayers also Debbie! Keep us posted please?
Debbie..sending hugs and prayers for both you and Shannon as well..can see how the situation would be more than overwhelming!
It's one thing to learn what is causing pain but another to be told to wait and see..am sure it's not what you wanted to hear.
Are you comfortable with accepting their prognosis?
Susan, yes it is causing the pain and trouble with walking and standing for long periods.
Betty, I am more comfortable with knowing, and trusting these doctors. They are the best...top in the country in many cases.
And it could make things a lot worse if I go for the surgery and get a CNS fluid leak.
And honestly, I am more worried about Shannon and the clot being in her jugular than I am anything with me. What is going on with
her has me very worried And I can't show that as I don't want her 'Freaking out" about it. She doesn't worry til Mom worries...then she knows something is extremely wrong.
I was sure I'd seen you post about the pain/trouble with walking & standing, and of course that would be why you spoke to your Dr. I guess I didn't ask very well - because he's willing to "wait" for a year to see if it gets worse, maybe he doesn't think keeping a closer eye on it is warranted??????
Sometimes I want to kick a male Dr in the n*)^% when they don't realize the pain I may be in.... "Does that hurt?!" I would say to the Dr.......... (blush - I DID post that, didn't I?!) LOL
Oh he knows it hurts and he is weighing the "pro's and cons" and putting me through all these scans (radiation) can be just as dangerous.
That is why he wants to wait a year...unless I get much worse, then will revisit. He gave me the options and I asked what he advised.
Well Debbie, half the battle is having faith in your doctors and I'm sure if you start feeling something out of the norm you will be right on the telephone booking an appointment. Shannon must be beside herself, these past months has been nothing but illness for her..know with just a cold I've been complaining can't imagine being in her situation.
Who all is going this weekend to do upgrades at MIL/FIL's???
Been a long time since we met up, am hoping that when I get back we can meet up for a visit!
Drats, went downstairs to the luggage department and paid $50 for a travel tote I know I likely will never use again but it's the right size for packing up the sewing machine and putting batting around it so it's none the worse for travelling..you know how those baggage guys like throwing suitcases..wonder if it will help to mark fragile or it will just encourage them to do it more?
Glad you are the one who made the choice though Debbie..always nice throwing in the 'if it were you' question
Well, it's done - I updated my resume to 1 1/2 pages instead of the 3 it was.....
Quite a bit of cutting down......put all my experience at the top, and for jobs, listed the companies afterwards.
AND I got a call just now from the woman in Toronto, so she'll call me 2pm her time, and noon my time, for an interview. phew....... little nervous, but not terribly.
Good Luck to you Susan. I hope she can help you with a job.
Debbie, living with chronic pain is difficult, especially with the additional stress of worrying about Shannon. You are both in my thoughts and prayers.
Had a lazy day yesterday. Somewhere between sick and well. I decided not to think about it and spent the day reading and watching TV. And, of course, fixing dinner for the furbabies. I ate a lot of home made yogurt.
Betty, If they give you trouble with the machine I suggest you get loud and teary - preferably when there are a lot of other customers around. I know it's not your style - just pretend you're an actress trying out for a well-paying part. I did this once at BofA and got $600 in fees refunded.
We're back to slightly chilly weather. Good for starting seeds if I get a burst of energy.
Tony has gone for gravel for paths in the new garden. I have more tires to scrub and paint. But first, coffee.
hugs, katie
Cross-posted, Susan. Good luck on top of your skills should work for you. katie
Thank you for your good thoughts, Jean & Katie
It would be nice to be gainfully employed and getting a paycheque again.....
I know there are so many unemployed people in Canada & US..... I pray there are more jobs and they can also get one.......
