No St. Paddy's celebration here - no dancing...... We're Scottish after all.
It's just that several people at Church wore green. In acknowledgement of a Christian (Catholic, with capital C not lower case "c") saint.
Best/Worse/What did I learn today?Chat with friends
Betty, we are going to San Antonio this coming week end for his party. They are going to have it at a petting zoo, if everyone is feeling better. Andy's step daughter is just getting over strep throat, and now Heather and Dylan are running fevers. Seems like someone in the house is always sick.
I got my dress, and the top was too big, but I had one here that I made work. We had a wonderful time at the wedding. I don't have any pictures of us on my camera, I have to wait for my neighbor to see what pictures she got.
Which dress did you finally end up wearing, LK?
The blue one, the other one never showed up. Still waiting to hear from the company.
oh.... that's strange. Maybe they were out of stock, and backordered it?
Did your packing slip show it was to be sent to you? Or maybe they each have their own packing slip.
Debbie, Glad to hear you will be able to get your tests done. Still more prayers for ou and Shannon.
It got HOT here today. I worked in the front garden wearing shorts and a sleeveless t-shirt for several hours; then came in and fell asleep. Hope I can sleep tonight.
Got some of the seeds planted and the tires set in order; some for paths and some for planters. My friend Yolanda came by and visited for a few minutes. Tony was not here yesterday as his daughter had a dental appointment. I find that I do so well when he's around that I don't get out much to see others. I may head for the dump tomorrow to look for more tires.
A few of the female papaya trees are blooming and my jasmine is covered in buds. This is a nice time of year here and I'm enjoying it.
Deb, welcome. I'm glad you have joined us.
hugs, katie
good for you, Katie, for getting so much work done, and in t-shirt & shorts, no less!!
I, too, hope you can sleep tonight :-)
Nice that your trees are blooming, etc!
Glad you're enjoying this time of year :-)

Thank you so much Susan ! I'm not excited at all. I just went to You Tube and emailed her links to the character interactions I could find for those characters.... ROFLOL....
Very quick post,
Been watching replay of Stompin' Tom's tribute of life ceremony in Peterborough, Ontario last week..
What a tribute to this all Canadian singer..
Finished with the song 'I am the wind'
And his son spoke of how his dad always said...
You may feel the sun on your face heading south, but you will feel the warmth of heart when travelling the Canadian east and west!
that's a wonderful tribute to his dad!!
Betty you must be dozing. Bev does't have skin cancer. That must be someone else. Hugs BEV
Morning Bev, Deb has the skin cancer. Deb, I have to ask, what is "Mohs surgery"?
Morning everyone!
oh geeze - we ALL mess up on who's got what, eh? I surely do it a lot more than Betty......
brrrrrr it's cold here! 12F here now and will only go to 61F by April 1st.........(no, not April Fool's joke, I'm sure..... )
Morning Susan! wish I could send you some of the 95 were supposed to be at today!
Good Morning, LK!
if you could send me just 15F, that would be AWESOME, then both of us would be comfortable!
"Feivel (sp?) Goes To America" is on, so going to watch that while hand quilting
So much happening here! Depsi, I have to be very careful outside as my family has a history of skin cancer..all fair skinned blondes. Well, mine is grey now but still watch what I am doing. Congrats on being a 2 time survivor!!!
Debbie, glad everyone is home..still sending hugs and prayers for all.
One year already LK? Where does the time go.
Judy, ah having a chef in the house...lucky you. Miss seeing you gal!!
Raining today or I would be outside turning the wheelbarrow on the side to use. Fantastic idea Betty. Actually better than that but can't think of a better word at the moment. Trash salvaged yet again. Thank you, thank you for the suggestion!!
I can't remember who asked about Kim's spring break.....starts April 1 and then she only has 6 weeks of school left. Where she teaches starts back in July. She will spend spring break this year taking care of me (driving) when I have my cataract surgery done.
Well there is a ton of laundry calling my name so I had better go get with it.
I asked, Marion. Starts back in July?!?! holy cow! When does she take Summer break, and start back in the fall?
I didn't realize you were having cataract surgery done - bet you'll be happy to have it done!
She starts in July and they have a week off in October. She gets out around the 20th or so of May so it is a fairly nice break. It is long enough she gets "antsy" to go back to work. Yeap, having the other eye done finally.
Good for you, Marion - will be nice to have it all done!
Sure is odd to hear of school having such "interesting" vacations - not 2 months straight... Would be easier on the paycheque surely, but no heading out for European vacations lol
Betty, where are you this morning?
She is on a 12 month paying schedule and there is plenty of time for a European vacation. It amounts to about 2 months, then she does get 2 and some times 3 weeks during December/January. Most of the later vacation time is the "furloughing" they do to cut the pay. Bummer but that is what the schools are doing.
oh, the 12 mo paying schedule sounds good - same pay every pay day.
"Furloughing" doesn't sound so good...... Better than the 2 months most of the schools I know about do though.....
Update on my Mom - Stan told her yesterday morning about the Intermediate Care Home, and I must say..... he waited until the last minute (to get HIS head around it, but didn't give Mom much time), cuz my 3 sisters were going to their place at 11am yesterday so they could all have a talk about it. He was to have told her on Saturday....
Anyway, they're all (Mom, Stan, and 3 sisters) going to the Thorvaldson House today at 2pm....... The administrator has had to deal with /speak to family members and potential residents before, so this should be easy for them. Hopefully it will come about for Mom to move there.
Here I is..been looking after a few things..
called Accuquilt in USA who have my accuquilt which needed a gear..apparently their 'AccuDoctor' is off due to eye surgery and won't be in for a few week so won't be shipping it back to me until then..
called Husqvarna (for sewing machine) in Canada, drats, because I bought the machine in usa they will not honor the warrantee should I need it..called Florida to check to see if this is so??
Put dates I would be away on staff calendar, had forgot to do so..luckily I had given Paul the dates so all is well
Went and picked up a package for Darlene at her sister's
Spoke with Greg, depending on how much work there is into finishing the frame he may stay tonight, if not he'll get it done while I'm away..they were all out on snowmobile, just up from my cousin Doug's where they were a snowmobiler hit a rock and was killed, Greg was waiting to hear the name as all are friends up there..
sitting knitting here at the office
and dear friends that is what kept me busy this morning...
Susan, praying all goes well at the facility..let's hope your mom's first thoughts is "I could enjoy staying here"
Marion, hope the wheelbarrel project turns out ok
She & Stan both say it would be ok for Mom to stay where she is, but as the administrator has dealt with this before (and has swayed Stan 2x when he visited) I have great hopes.
It's not a far distance for him to go to visit her either.... one bus, about 20 minutes.
Sure he wouldn't want to go with 2 of the sisters, maybe Evelyn though...... He "blames" Alice & Ruth for pushing this through......
Dianne,Barb and Debbie , watch for a quick moving storm..yikes, got home, not a drop of snow, within 10 minutes high winds and storm..might move out as quick as it blue in..keep an eye out. Hope Debbie gets home before it hits her area.
Any news on the meeting Susan?
Guess it bath time
Weather Liars have forecasted a goodie for me Betty. Lots of snow plus freezing rain. Oh joy! Lets hope this is it winter weather wise.
Fever still hovering at 100 -101 but I am feeling better. Bit more energy today so Diesel and I got out for a couple of walks. Not as long a walks as Diesel would have liked but I needed to get in plenty of wood so I won't have to go out to the pile during this storm. Storm is forecasted to last here all of tomorrow too.
Waiting to hear from Debbie although I imagine she is just bushed. All of the physical strain of the tests, the long drive plus all the emotional worry with Shannon and Miss Izzy. Sending you positive thoughts Debbie.
Judy so good to hear from you. You came through loud and clear!!!! I like that.
BBL
Dianne

Glad your fever is breaking Dianne..good book, fire going and Diesel by your side will help weather you through the storm. Almost seems to have blown over for right now..
Anxious to hear from Debbie, so we can put our minds at rest that she made it home ok..
no news, Betty - I've been watching my email, because Ruth said she'd send me something.
Not wanting to pester, cuz they've really been through the mill with it, emotionally. My brother has been "difficult" so have no idea what's happened when my Mom went to Thorvaldson's Home....
Let's hope you hear something soon Susan..
Lordy talk about a blistering storm out there..Greg came, told him after a bit we'd call it a night and finish the frame another time but he's as bad as his mom and stayed until it was done..just let now and was shaking his head!
Photo 1.. no sooner did Greg start that he got a call from Gig who owns a company and spends much of his time in Saudi Arabia..some of you may remember, Gig is the young man who was twin to Eddie Haskel of Leave it to Beaver..even tonight we gabbed, said I should be spending winter in Florida, said I had to work to make a living, asked me had I not attended the class which teaches you to marry a rich man?? quite the character..Greg was making arrangements for all these kids who grew up together to go out for supper in a few weeks..these kids spent more time at my place on the lake then at their own homes..lol
Photo 2..busy at work, not moving quite as smoothly as Greg would like
Photo 3..fini, Greg told me to save my money and buy the proper sewing machine for the frame...will do (he thinks he has to encourage me in these things...as if..lol
Time for bed..
night/night
heard from Alice, and IT'S A GO!! Mom will be moving in about 2 weeks to the Thorvaldson House.
Hello,
We got home about 8:40 tonight. Weather on trip home was horrific from Erie PA to home, but the last 10 miles the worst.
I am exhausted and heading to bed. Will fill you in on everything tomorrow!
Sweet dreams
Debbie
Debbie, was worried..if you drove in what we have here I'm sure you are just sooo relieved to be home.
Susan, great news about your mom, am sure you are relieved that finally there is a plan of action.
Watching Barrie news, saying poor visibility and possibly freezing rain inthe morning so best I get to sleep.
Glad to hear your home Debbie! Get some sleep!
Betty, your up late.
yes - 2 weeks isn't long, either, for her to move in. Now, a lot of stuff to be doing, like buying furniture....
looks great Betty, give Greg an extra hug from all of us next time you see him.....tell him we all think he is wonderful for finishing the job so well!!!!
Susan, hope the move goes smoothly for your Momma and brother too....bet he will miss her much.
Hugs Debbie, sure hope you get to have a calm restful day today.....
Prayers for you Debbie and all. HUGS BEV
Morning everyone! Coffee is ready!
