Sorry to hear your Mom is not doing well Marion! Sending prayers for her!
Best/Worse/What did I learn today?? chat with friends..
Thanks LK, It is just unreal how many things she has overcome but sooner or later she is just going to run out of the ability to do this. Staying in close contact with my sister.
That would be nice Marion..I arrive in Fort Myers March 22 at noon and won't leave likely until the Thursday to head home, gives me a few days to bask in the sun!
Prayers Barb that Norm made it safe & sound...
Debbie... how horrible for Paul.... they should pay him overtime +++....
Susan what a beautiful piece !
Marion.... we had that strange yellow orb in the sky here as well... hm. very odd....
Hugs to all
Mary
Thanks Mary - I really am happy to be finally Doing my UFO lol
Mary, he got OT and his boss bought him lunch today. They really do take care of him (us) and I just felt bad as he was so tired, along with the weather.
How nice that his boss bought him lunch today!
Of course he'd get OT - when he's called back in to work after a full day, it's OT. Glad his boss recognized this though.
LOL Susan UFO = Unidentified Flying Object....
Deb the boss got off easy sending Paul in... imho....
Hugs
Mary
Waving 'hi' from a winter wonderland..just stopped snowing..it changed from a wet snow to a popcorn like snow...just so pretty..add street light shinning down on it and it's picture perfect!
Debbie, nice to see that his employer appreciates him..think all employers would get more out of their staff if they showed the same.
Got to love those deals Susan..here on a Sat/Sun morning they discount meet that has 'best before' dates coming up, great to buy and freeze..usually 50% off.
Ope you southerners have another sunshine day ahead of you
Kyle dropped in at 6:30pm and left at 9:30pm..had a lovely visit. With his doing co-op and working at Factory rec I don't see as much as I would like to so when he does come I live every minute of it.
I've been sewing for last few hours, just can't sleep, took more gravol so let's see if I can get a few hours in before I have to leave for work.
We ended up with another 8 inches of that darn white stuff yesterday. Pretty soon there will be no place to put it!!! Sean comes today and he will shovel out the spots Norm didn't have time to do. He got home safely from Maine and this morning he leaves for a training session in New Jersey. Hope there is no more snow here until he gets home tomorrow night although I have a great support system with the kids watching out for me.
Got started on the next ten totes for the cancer kids. I should be able to start assembly by Sat. Also trying to finish bindings on some place mats and just finished a Xstitch piece as well. I always do a good sized piece each time Norm has a cancer diagnosis. This time it was quilt blocks in cross stitch. So I find ways to keep busy. Now if I could just get that kind of ambition to do housework I'd be all set!!!!
Hubby is getting ready to leave --- BBL
Morning everyone. How about some hot cocoa for those of you that have that white stuff on the ground.
Barb, sure hope Norm has a safe trip. Can you show us your cross stitched blocks? They sound pretty.
Betty, hope you went back to sleep for a bit?
It is all one piece LK and shows 36 different blocks. I will most likely frame it in a shadow box. When I don't have bindings to work on, I usually crochet or have a piece of cross stitch in the works. I just can't sit and do nothing with my hands. I do small Xstitch fairly often but only do the big ones when I really need to fill time and not worry......
I'll try for a picture a bit later..
Betty - this was not close to "best before"......... it was just a regular sale, but all the other meats had "$4.39/kg" on them, and someone made the mistake of putting the "per kg" price in the "total" area. All the other packages of meat were correct........
Barb, those are beautiful! Wish I had the patience to do cross stitch.
Mary - UFO - Un- Finished Object (I have loads of unfinished quilt objects!)
I'm working on my PHD's too............ Projects Half Done lol
Barb - what beautiful weather to be looking through the window at! and the frosted trees look so lacy!
That cross stitch must have taken SO long to do - and what a rewarding piece to finish - looks lovely!
Did Norm have a safe trip?!
Morning, at work..the most beautiful winter day, as in the photo Barb posted, just takes your breath away. Was glad I left early, took back concessions just so I could be awe stricken by the beauty!
Did get about 3hrs total of sleep, sure looking forward to a good night's sleep..one thing I did learn was most of series shows repeat all night long..almost knew the dialogue.
Susan, knew yours was not the case, just saying I often purchase and freeze some of the eats on sale.
Barb, I'm in envy of your craftsmanship..you must be terribly worried as to get all this done. Yep, I'd be putting the cross stitch piece in a shadow box..what a keepsake..
Norm sure has been doing a lot of travelling
What do you do, Betty, to get a good night's sleep? I know you often have a warm bath, but have you tried Magnesium? Apparently, taken at nighttime, it relaxes the body. Apparently we don't have enough magnesium in our systems.
http://www.calmnatural.co.uk/magnesium-deficiency
I read that 57% of the US has magnesium deficiency....... I started taking Magnesium recently and feel much better/calmer, etc. Sleep a bit better too - not fully up to my sleep but I'm working on it :-)
Will try that Susan.
Someone told me that when we age we need very little sleep, perhaps I'm in transition..I should get a 2nd job and work the midnight shift. lol
lol yeah........ right..... and drive to work every day, right? At least you wouldn't have any traffic.....
I was surprised to find that Magnesium also affects bone density so much.
8 x 250mg sounds like a lot, but you're also not to take it any other time than bedtime.
I'm going out to restock my magnesium, and eat more nuts & fish! (haddock is really good, as are green veggies and nuts).
Not a fish eater but do like nuts until they work themselves under dentures..lol
Big sigh..just 11:21am
worked on a birdhouse block here at work..likely have enough scraps to do a 2nd one then just applique at home.
Decided to bring in wool and do afghans again, am sure woman's shelter could use a few, easy to pick up and put down!
Well, time to get ready for Bible Study at Church.
cya ladies later!!
Barb, beautiful pictures of the snow......love the lacy looking trees. I so enjoyed seeing the snow the year I lived in Canada but I also was much, much younger. Still pretty to see but I don't know if I have what it takes to live there again. Hummmm, wonder?
I had to laugh about keeping the hands busy...maybe we are related. I can not stand to sit and not being doing something with my hands....even riding in a car. I am trying to gather the items to do a couple of cross stitched pieces for my GDs. I want some over dyed pinkish/lavender for one but am having trouble finding. Scared to go by the colors that show on the monitor so will just keep searching.
Mary, so you too had that huge yellow orb in the sky? There again today but for some reason the air is on the chilly side. I will take it though as I sure don't want the rains again. Our county had 13+ inches and now the rivers are presenting some real hazards for people.
Well need to rotate the laundry.
Our lakes Marion are at the lowest over, most are concerned..we laugh as we say the americans open up the dams and took our water (no so, just a lark) lol
So you are sitting out enjoying the day?
Think reason I'm not fond of visiting is because I'd have to just sit..I love chatting while working away on something..hands need to be busy
lol Betty, wish that was true and an easy fix....but our Lake Ontario is so low. Even the canal, which can be regulated by the locks, is low.
They are hoping this snow this winter will bring them up to par. Our farmers have taken quite a hit the last few years....hard to feed the cows, which
means hard to feed dairy...to produce milk, and prices through the roof. This is what I learn having family (SIL) in the business.
Tiny patch of sun shining here....but snowing off and on.
Snowing off and on here as well, not bitter cold though.
Yes, Bernie (DB) was telling me he's paying double the price for feed for their horses, can't imagine how farmers are managing.
Drats, sooo nauseated, brought gravol in but so close to going home that I dare not take it as I get sleepy. So wish the boys would let me get out of not going for family dinner tomorrow night..I've a feeling more than they have been asked to come celebrate. Just want to go home and go to bed.
Betty, it may be time for you to call the Dr.?
oh yes......... your birthday is coming up, isn't it, Betty?!?!!
Friday is the big day!!! Let us bake cake!
Aha - hers is 10 days before mine!!
What kind of cake - Kahlua? lol
No, my birthday isn't Friday..
Yes it's a mile marker!!
Stopped into fabric shop for a few supplies, did a few groceries, just made a hot chocolate, bath is waiting then will get comfy, hopefully grab a few hours of rest.
okay then it's the 2nd or 3rd?!?! C'mon Betty - fess up!!
Her Birthday is the 2nd.
That it is..stopped by the post office, got to check my mail box..parcel card amongst my mail..maybe it is the one you sent me from Missouri quilts..if that is the case I'm glad I couldn't pick it up til tomorrow a.m. Otherwise with not sleeping it would have been made by morning?
Just took excedrin migrain, won't try to sleep until paper boy comes..little gaffer knocks and knocks until I answer and give him his $2.00 tip. Lol
lol he's got your #, eh Betty? lol
Happy Birthday early Betty dear lady. Things are going good here. Just getting over my next ten days of antibiotics for bronchitis. Hope this is the end of this. I take enough drugs as it is. Haven't heard a word about what has went on good or bad. All I know is I am a happier person than I have ever wished to be. Love you dear friends. HUGS BEV
I knew it was the second, but for some reason saw you celebrating tomorrow....so thought tomorrow was the 2nd. I get lost easy!
(bite your tongues)
Bev, so so happy to see you and your pictures! Feel better!
Bev - SO good to see you. It's been too long.
Glad to hear you're happy, and ....... feeling better, are you?!
Today's article by Palmbob has lots of pictures of aloes in bloom. I have both red/orange and yellow in bloom now. They grow like weeds here and the hummingbirds love them..
It's still too cold and windy for me. I had a stomach bug and was uncomfortable all night, then sick/sleeping most of the day. I feel better now and just washed most of the dirty dishes which multiply like rabbits when I turn my back.
Not much news here. I'm fuzzy-brained but thinking good thoughts about all of you.
hugs, katie
Katie, you have been sick for awhile, does it have anything to do with the scorpion or dog bites?
Sure hope your feeling better soon.
Bev, glad to see you posting. Love those pictures.
Judy, where are you? Come up for air once in awhile please?
