Best/Worse/What did I learn today?? chat with friends..

Victoria Harbour, ON

From what I understand those HOA create mega problems with all their restrictions..a concern in itself. Jean you've a big area as well, are you n the country? Love reading your posts..as I was reading I was looking from left to right as though I was watching you both gab..I know, I need a life right? Lol

Just got back from supper, we celebrated Noah's birthday..not a good day for him, they all went snowmobiling, Noah totaled his snow machine. He will be one sore boy tomorrow, thankfully just badly bruised...could have been so much worse! He'd been crying, felt so bad..dad and mom were supportive saying that accidents happen to all, just glad he's ok.

Melanie's mom also sews, she is busy making quilts as well..admired Melanie's dresden plate table cloth and would like the patter, we will have to get together on Saturday and chat.

I'm full, cake and ice cream hit the spot. Think I shall call it an early night..
Waving night/night

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Yes Betty, the area where I live is unincorporated, consider suburban/rural. I know I have read horror stories about HOAs. Glad Noah is okay....had to be scary for him and his folks.

Well, thunder and lightning have returned....gonna be a wet night.

Hope you all have a good evening

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Well I will be having much the same type night Jean. Oh well, it is cozy as I have one window that is sheltered open and the sound of rain is very soothing.

Yes, HOA are pains in the b---! However, it was here when we bought this property and we wanted it enough to make up our minds to deal with it. For the most part, things go well but every now and then they are hard to deal with. Like the tree issue. Sometimes I think it would be better to ask forgiveness rather than permission. :-)

Baton Rouge, LA

Hello All !

Betty Thank Goodness Noah is okay ! You know a scare like that is sometimes just what it takes to remind young men "Who" is there for them when they are down..... Yes It would be super to grow Canadian plants! I'm a sucker for plants the neighbors don't have and maybe I can share some if I attend the swap....a highly desirable trade item I'm thinking !

Oh Jean... figures the 30 degrees when I've gone and cleaned out 2 beds already. Hmmm.....
Yes HOA's are terrible... Dave Ramsey on the radio said "usually run by someone who needs a power grab" (so I didn't say it). Ours is terrible.... Marion if you live where my Aunt did... then the HOA is the reason they moved.

I like Jeans suggestion.
Hugs
Mary

Victoria Harbour, ON

Another sleepless night, restless of late..might be part of the reason!

Mary when is your roundup? Now that the engine is home when will Lance start working on it?

Warming up here a tad, guess our cold weather has travelled south.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Meant to add, here is hoping all goes well for you this morning re your tests..
Mild here so hoping you don't have to contend with bad weather..

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Mary, it shouldn't do much in the way of harming the cleaned beds....I am hoping that is a worst case prediction. I have had enough cold and dreary weather for this year. The storms last night were quite noisy and dropped a lot of rain out here. I think I have had enough of the rain too....grin

Victoria Harbour, ON

Weather forecast here is calling for a storm to move in later tomorrow afternoon, nasty/nasty then clearing..as of today we are topping more daylight than darkness in our days so that's exciting, signs of spring on our doorsteps.

Left the house early this a.m. decided to go shopping at Canadian Tire..they had totes on sale and I need a few..keep making Christmas gifts so thought being able to store them until christmas wrap comes out would be a good idea.

I'm leaving around the 21-22nd of March for Florida..am so hoping that winter will all be over and no storms following us on our drive home. Darlene called last night..it's so nice to hear excitement in her voice, she's thrilled at buying a place and spending more time next fall in Florida, her mom is doing a bit better, I shall go visit with Mae after work tonight so can update her and her cousin Allen is flying in this week for a visit. Makes my heart sing to hear her on an up.

Then I just spoke to Rita, another friend going through marital problems, she's in a better frame of mind, infact she's saving her pennies and will try her very best to go to NewOrleans and Branson Missouri come August 2nd.
now to call Noah and find out how he is doing today, might even be home.

So it's been a good news day and it's only 8:58 lol

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, so sorry to hear about the snow mobile accident, glad he is not hurt too bad! Do they have insurance on those machines?
Sure hope the weather warms up for you ladies soon! Our mesquite tree's have finally put out the first tiny green leaf, and that means we will have no more frost. So I am going to re pot a bunch of rose bushes, and get some new things in the ground. I am going to plant some caladiums around the base of an ash tree. I have never grown them, but I love the colors of the leaves.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Wish I was in your neck of the woods LindaKay, I'd be out gardening with you. Not sure what a mesquite tree is, will go in search of it on the web.

Come spring I promised myself to purchase 6-8 carpet rose shrubs..the few I bought last year had a zillion roses on them and lasted right until fall..will set them near the pond IF I still have the smaller pond..you know how the boys come for Mother's Day and do all my chores, one will be designing it better, better water flow etc and if no can do then out it comes.

Suzanne is out of the office until 11 or so, I want to go fabric hunting at the Fabric Shop and Fabricland, in search of a green fabric I ran out of so when she gets here I'll make a quick run.

Off to look at flights

Victoria Harbour, ON

Day getting better..Greg just called, he and Jeff are taking me out Friday night for my 65th..wanted to know what I want for birthday gift..same story, $$$$ so I can put it towards a Gracie Quilting frame.

got the " M O M M M"

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

They are never happy, they ask what you want, then complain when you tell them!

Betty, this is a mesquite tree. Farmers around here complain about them, as they are quite thorny, and a big nuisance, as they grow where they are not wanted, but they do have a lot of good uses from the seed pods.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Looks very similar to a pine tree we have but never seen beans on a tree before. Interesting

Boys should know me by now, always large ticket items I want lol got a place for $$$ already..they have the quilting frame I want about 2hr drive from me.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Yikes...... have I been missing all this time? Several pages of threads, it looks like...... sorry, can't catch up on these LOL

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Jean, why did you send that horrible weather this way? :-) Talk about rough early morning hours but we had it. The lightning was so bright I thought someone had turned on a search light in my room......thunder actually caused the house to shake. Major flood notices are now in effect for a large part of this area and south Georgia. Great for high land. About 11:30 had small hail with the rain. Seems to have cleared for the time being but definitely chillier outside.

Betty, why do kids always do that....they ask but know you are going to say money. Mine just get furious with me so I usually have to think of something else I want. Did tell them they could never, ever go wrong going to the nursery for me. If I didn't have to buy groceries to live, the only places I would ever go would be a fabric store or nurseries! Addicted you might say. :-)

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Marion, I can't take blame or credit for that one...it started here just after dark and we got hit with three vicious noisy waves of storms. Like you, I thought some part of the house might go....had lightning strikes way too close for comfort. We had a second wave around midnight and a whopper that woke me up at 3AM....all told 3 to 5 inches of rain last night and today. weather man said look for lows in the 30's starting Tuesday night when it clears up. Remember that blinking GroundHog???? Glad you weathered the storm okay.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Yes, the blinking Ground hog is in for big trouble around these parts. Right now we are in a lull but from the looks of the radar there is more coming. Already getting a wee bit nippy outside for us. Going to make a cup of hot tea, grab a good book and snuggle down for the night.
Now if I only had someone to snuggle down with other than the cat. LOL

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

GRIN...have yourself a sweet evening and be safe. At least you can ignore the cat if the book is good...LOL

mulege, Mexico

Hi - Everything is about the same here. Thanks for all the good thoughts and prayers. We just have to wait and see what happens. I'm going to visit friends and neighbors tomorrow if I feel up to it.

A gov't person came by today and gave all the dogs rabies shots. Max was the only problem but I got his muzzle on him and all went well.

I'm still sorting and organizing my craft things. Making gradual progress. Cutting pieces for a couple of quilts. Mostly getting through the days without stressing out. I think tony feels the same way so we just work quietly and calmly.

My right shoulder is aching again. Knee is cracking a lot. Nothing major, mostly annoying.

Feel like i'm treading water. Better than drowning.

hugs, katie

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Katie - sounds like you could use a (((Hug))). You sound a little more than stressed.
Good for you, on getting things sorted. I wish I could be there to help you.
Who are the quilts going to be for?

Lyndonville, NY

Thank heavens it is over for now, and we are back home. Been a LONG weekend!

This morning, got to Cleveland Clinic, had my MRI on time...but couldn't get off the table. My back spasmed from laying flat, with my knees propped so spine
was flat on the table. OMGosh did that hurt. Finally got from building A over to Building S and did my EMG. This was much more invasive than my previous.
I felt like I was one of Frankenstein's monsters being zapped with limbs flying up. The needle/muscle test of it was just overwhelming. I just crawled inside my head and started shutting down to get through it.

Thankful to be home! We got in about 5:30, I ate a small piece of pizza and fell asleep on the couch. Just now woke up.

Betty, so praying Noah is OK how scary!

Will be back in the morning, just so so tired.

Debbie

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

((((((((((((((Debbie)))))))))))))))) I'm glad the day is over for you.......!!

Baton Rouge, LA

Hello To All !

LOL @ your Question... Betty the question is "when will Lance STOP working on the Model A !"...He is in the shed or online at all times working on something... still needs other parts to get the engine back inside the chassis.
The Swap is April 20 and I need NO plants so why am I looking forward to going? I'm not sure... and still not sure I can go but I would like to go....

Jean doesn't it feel as though it has rained all of 2013? Sun tomorrow hopefully. Yes maybe it won't freeze afterall LOL on "Ignore the cat" Jean gives good advice huh Marion !
Katie glad you are hanging in there... is it quite warm there yet ?
Welcome back Susan! hard to catch up when you miss a few days....

Debbie...that sounds like a hairy experience so I am so glad it is over for you....

Betty - you'll be celebrating our anniversary DH and I on 8/2 in New Orleans ! LOVE it !

Hugs
Mary

Victoria Harbour, ON

Sending hugs Katie along with Susan's..likely the stress is playing havoc with your body..let's hope you get answers quickly so you can put it all behind you and get to unwind!

Sorry to hear Jean and Marion that you are having storms..must say you are sending it my way from the sounds of it.

Debbie, glad the testing is behind you and that you are home away safely before the bad weather starts tomorrow. A good night's rest is what you need.

All afternoon I thought only about coming home, getting into Jammie's and go to bed early, been several night I've not been sleeping well..decided against it, fighting to stay up so there is a better chance of my sleeping through the night. Working on a double sized bed Christmas quilt, coming together nicely..likely have the top finished by tomorrow night..Suzanne almost smacked me today when I said 10 more months and it would be Christmas.lol. Can't blame her..

Greg told me he and Jeff and family would take me out for supper on Friday night..Jeff called tonight to remind me as I often at the last minute decide to head over to Buffalo..kids!!!

Almost 10pm, guess its safe to hear off to bed.

Night night everyone

Victoria Harbour, ON

Waving Mary..you've got Lance hooked on the Model A..good for you, will keep him out of mischief.lol

You can never have enough plants Mary, besides it's more about enjoying everyones company..sure wish we had one in my neck of the woods.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Thanks for the welcome back, Mary!

Betty - this summer I'm going to concentrate on making my garden/yard look nice again. Guess I've let it go over the past 2 years since I lost that long-time job of mine. I say "enough with the pity party!" and I'm going to get back into the "groove"!
btw - working on the quilt (UFO) I've been working on for over 30 years. This is the year it gets finished! AND going to do the lap quilt which I got blocks from DG'ers during 2009!
The top is finished for the lap quilt, and now I think I have the backing! I certainly have the batting!
I'm feeling productive!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Mary and Debbie, this picture is for you! I saw it on Facebook, and had to share it with you!

LOL LINDA!!! lol lol lol

Baton Rouge, LA

OMG LK ! I saw That ! Love it ... .LOL

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all,

Omg that photo is precious. Lol

Been up since 3am, still a bit nauseated, gravol helped somewhat but couldn't sleep so got up and did some sewing.

Amazes me when I hear Texas is getting a blizzard , never think that part I'd the state could get snow but imagine its way north of you LindaKay. Wishing for a Snowday tomorrow, few warnings out..

Dianne, Thea and Debbie will be shhh'ing me hoping for a snow day,

Packed a craft bag, trying to find scraps to finish 2 more rows on the Christmas quilt I've been doing to rid myself of scraps..just maybe I can get it done today at work. IF I'm not sleeping!

Best I get the garbage out and head out

Gab later

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Texas does get snow, but not usually a lot. My son got 17 inches of snow and ice, and they literally shut down the town. No one is moving. He is in Amarillo, up in the pan handle. 8 hours north of me.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Wow, quite a system passing through..heard Chicago is getting it now! Let's hope melting starts soon and your son's area can get back to normal..How is Dylan doing?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Dylan is doing really good! Back to him normal routine.
I am getting ready to go and have a planters wart examined. I have one on the bottom of my left foot, and it is so painful to walk on, I sure hope he can remove it today! I will be back after lunch.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Thank God that Dylan is doing so well!
Ouch on the planter's wart! I remember my daughter having one on her foot...... I agree with the painfulness.....

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

It feels like there is constantly a splinter or something in there.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Not good having problems with feet..that would be fast if they did something today. Glad Dylan is feeling better...Susan, are you finished work now?

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

yes, Friday was my last day.

Victoria Harbour, ON

That's why you have so much energy of late lol

Just book my flight out of Toronto for Fort Myers Florida 8 a.m. March 22, 2013
This technology of just e-ticket kind of scares you..would hate to get to airport and no flight.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

lol me, energy?

Betty - do you print out your boarding slip before you go to the airport? That would be your receipt PLUS you can go online and see the status of the flight - late/cancelled, etc.....
And of course you move through the lines quicker!
But, I'm sure you know this already?!?!

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

hugs to Y'all it is pouring rain here, and we are under a tornado watch !! good sewing weather.
