Thanks Betty / Deb... well I'm hoping witchy noticed that I did not shake or mumble... I held my head up and stated my case... I'm feeling a lot more confident these days.... (HUGS) Thanks gals....
Deb if Disney reminds you of me... then that makes me SMILE real big ! may have to head over to watch that... abc television is the "competition" but they do "own" disney.... maybe I need to go work for them LOL....
Yes it's been a very mild winter here even more mild than last winter. Met with my Garden Nursery client today and really feel for her... it's tough on them when this happens... I'll try to buy extra annuals this year...
Oh Judy so proud of Jake... this will mean a college scholarship for sure !
Waving to Shirley so glad you could drop in and even happier that you will be headed to my *home* state....
Hugs,
Mary
Mary, we seem to have our love of Disney in common. The two of us could turn that place upside down having fun!
You did well with standing your ground with "Cruella". Proud of you!
Still snowing and strong wind blowing big time. Got what I needed done this afternoon and now can stay home
and do laundry tomorrow hopefully.
Waving hello to all, can't wait to see pictures of all your projects.
Betty, hang in there...it will get better...and they don't call it "growing pains" for nothing! They grow...and cause us pain!
Hugs,
Debbie
Thanks for the new room Betty.
Sounds like you and Thunder have lots of projects to work on. I still need to finish the purple heart quilt, and I am working on some goodies for the Easter swap.
BIG Love Debbie...
When I make my first million... OR when we win the lottery.... (TWO Chances mind you)
I'll take you to Disney's Beach Club Resort and we'll have a week of it ! (HUGS)
Didn't know you were a Disney lover but it totally makes sense... can see you like A princess with the birdies landing and Thumper and Flower... all the little animals... all around because they love you so.... so much.....you are just like my dear mother.... (HUGS)
Betty I know you will help Noah through this....
Hugs
Mary
Oh Thunder, that touch of color is so welcoming!!! I'm really tired of white!!! Thank you for posting those.....
Envious/envious of you southerners...just look at those pretties! Thunder long flight to Victoria Harbour for those little Robins, likely won't see them until April.
Jean, love the japanese magnolia..not sure we have such a bush...
it is really cold here..bitter cold - 22 right now, too cold to snow..sitting here with micro heater and still chilled.
My temp for Betty says "7" F. So that must be celsius
Thanks. LK if it is Celcius, then that makes it almost 8 degrees below 0 in Farenheit. This is a quick conversion site
http://www.metric-conversions.org/temperature/celsius-to-fahrenheit.htm
That mountain Laurel is beautiful
Some varieties/hybrids of the Jap Magnolias are hardy to zone 4, most to zone 5. Here they bloom in January and February before they put on leaves.
Thanks for the link Jean! Even at 7-8 degree's, that is pretty cold!
You are welcome LK...oh, and that is almost 8 degrees below 0Farenheit....way too cold for my tootsies...grin
I will keep my 59 degree's that we have right now! Supposed to be 79 today! ^_^
I hear ya...it is 56F here now, but very overcast...don't think it will make it to the predicted high 60's. Every time it warms up enough to get out in the garden, it starts to rain....RATS.
IS chilly..brrrr, still warming up!
OMG that is so beautiful LindaKay..nothing like it around here for sure.
hand sewing and can feel my eyes get heavier.
Going out for lunch with my cousin Linda today, then a sale at Canadian Tire on totes..need a few then might manage a quick stop at Fabricland then who knows if I'm still energetic enough I'll go for a visit with Darlene's mom at the home.
Thought if I did all I have to do today I can get in my jammies tonight and not take them off until Monday morning..
been looking at a Hendenberg Quilt Frame, trying to see if they have one in Arcade N.Y....it's only 1 hr. drive south of Buffalo, e-mailed them, if they have one, might mean another trip stateside end of month.
Jean, still seems like the place to be right now lol
you musn't have to put your gardens to bed for the winter?
Sure wish we had rain! It is so dry here! They are predicting another year of drought for us!
That is not good LindaKay, hard going for sure especially for the gardens.
Not a lot of putting to bed, just a little extra care for the most tender perennials. Spring is the big work time in my garden...getting rid of the weeds and grass that grow during the winter, doing all the pruning back, cleaning up the beds and putting down new mulch...and feeding everything. Just had DH take the weedwhacker to the ornamental grasses...cut back all the old brown grass so the new growth has a chance. Makes sure I have tons of brown stuff for the compost bins. Grin
Don't know why I thought that you all would be in the gardens weeding all winter long..lol...wrong right!
I didn't even cut all the leaves off the hosta's this fall, that will be one big mess.
Maybe I should follow your method of cleaning, get my weedwacker out and cut everything in the gardens down..bet everything comes up lush and green.
Actually, I probably should be out there weeding over the winter, but I would rather just get it all done once...I will yank up anything that looks like it might seed, but I just don't do much outside when the temps are below 50F....I swear I had a coldblooded ancestor....grin
I rarely cut anything back in late fall....even some of my clematis vines continue to grow over winter. I figure the browned leaves offer a bit of protection....that's my story and I'm sticking to it....grin
Sure wish I could grow clematis..everyone in the neighborhood has such beauties, but not I..drats wish I could.
I get a kick out of you saying when it's under 50 you don't do gardening, lordy Jean, half of my year is in the 50's...short/short time lol
Think I could adjust to climate without cold/snow
I have been running back and forth to Toledo for the past couple of weeks. Alexandra was in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit since she was born premature. First we had some sugar problems and then jaundice, all of which are normal for preemies. then she lost some weight and didn't want to eat as much as they wanted. But we got lucky and she came home yesterday. Now they are all together and Stacey can relax (if you can do that with baby feedings). Chris starts a new job on Saturday. He will be working in Lowes Distribution Center moving things with a fork lift. He just can't go back to restaurant work with the hours away from family. His work schedule will be Friday, Saturday, Sunday, 12 hour shifts but pay for 40 hrs.
It really has worked out that he was home in the last part of Stacey's pregnancy and the birth and the running back and forth to the hospital every day to see Allie. He wouldn't have been able to do that working at the restaurant. God does work in mysterious ways.
I am getting all my doctor, dentist, etc appointments done so that I am free for the knee replacement on March 11. Living alone means all the planning is mine! I also go a Bi level CPAC machine that I have been using the past 10 days. I got used to it faster than I thought and I do seem to have more energy during the day.
We got snow yesterday and more today with rain and ice tomorrow. Storm was weird so that I got 5" and Craig in Findlay (10 miles away) got just a dusting.
Judy, so happy your son got so high in the State Finals. My oldest did wresting in high school and I thought it was the best of the team sports. Every boy is on his own on the floor but the score is for the team so they all are invested. Back at school, every guy gets the chance to challenge another for a chance at a meet; keeps them competitive. John went to State (Michigan) too, but that was over 30 years ago.
Time to go to the Sewing House and do some work on the new navy and white quilt. Looking good!
Drats just what one needs, get home to find out the furnace went out sometime today..called Greg, he is in Toronto but he called one of his men who is on call, should be here shortly..let's hope it's minor!
Luckily I have fireplace in bedroom, basement, living room so all are on including the electric range..not bad..
Lordy, first thing I did was go through my bills, check my bank account to check make sure with going to Florida and with Christmas that I didn't forget to pay one..nope, all paid..
I have heat!!!
Was a quick fix, condensation in one of the hoses..furnace couldn't breathe..cut a piece off, cleaned it and voila..I'm in business again.
Asked what I owed, he said Greg could buy him lunch tomorrow..
Now that I'm warmed up came back to say hi Janice..so exciting about Chris finding a job that will allow him to be home with the family.been a stressful time for them but now that Allie is home Stacey and yourself will be back into a routine before long..heck you are already talking about taking on a sewing project. You sure need some downtime.
Hi - Quick update. Tony and I saw an attorney today. He said not to give the people any money and not to worry. Situation of ownership is in a state of change. He told us to wait, not give them anything. He talked to the people who are asking for money and told us they are trying to get what they can before their organization ceases to exist but they cannot give us good papers for ownership of land. We will try to stay calm as we await developments. Meanwhile, will save what I can. hugs, katie P.S. Cost of land is much less here than in US so I am not (as far as I can tell) worried about having to leave my home but it may put a big dent in the work we are doing.
Morning everyone, time to rise and shine! Fresh coffee is ready!
Katie, I wish you all the best with the land problems your having. Praying you don't get robbed of your property!
This was last week end, the kids moved the stroller and furniture around and was playing fort with the quilts. They had so much fun!
Good Morning
LK that little rascal gets cuter with every new picture. Hope he is feeling better.
Katie, fingers crossed all goes well for you and Tony.
Hope you all have a lovely day, no matter what the weather is like.
Morning, cold one out there..nice to be working from home, makes for a restful 3 day weekend. They are calling for more bad weather coming our way, just wondering if I can get away with what is in the house food and craft supplies so I don't have to go out the door, just stay in Jammie's..we shall see!
LindaKay, how Dylan has grown..too adorable. Don't kids love to make forts..time to treasure your time with them, they grow so quickly.
Katie, sending along hugs, what a worry..can't imagine such a thing could happen..when you purchased it you were given land transfer papers which should help.
Ohhh Katie, was sitting here thinking about those thieves trying to get your land, came to me, would they use physical force?? Worried about you.
Jean, here's hoping its a sunshine day for you and you get out to pull some of those weeds..lol
I'm not worried about physical force. These are people trying to get something for nothing. Physical force with me would not get them anything as everything is in Tony's name. They are trying to get what they can from everybody as their organization is being eliminated. Very confusing to everyone. Our papers were, thy say, for a survey of the land, not ownership. We'll see.
Meanwhile, I am much more relaxed. I hope the attorney will help. It at least puts the locals on notice that we will not just roll over and give them money. I talked to Dana last night and sent her the info on the atty as Tom had been planning to pay what was asked for thinking he'd get good papers. Not so, says the atty and it could be a waste of money.
The other "not to worry" reason is that everyone is going through this including the Mexicans. NO suggestion of anyone getting physical though I suggested to Tony a large mouse trap followed by adding their bodies to the compost heap.
They assume all Americans have lots of money but they are trying the same crap on local Mexicans so they aren't making any friends or getting any support.
Dylan is so cute.
I'm playing with fabric and keeping warm.
hugs, katie
