ok - I am a catholic, but not a Catholic (which is Large C and "Roman").
Christians are catholic. I do not have a pope - the Roman Catholics do (geeze, and he's retiring at the end of the month - go figure....... something I said? LOL)

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I heard on the news that the pope is quitting, something that has not happened for more than 700 years!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

yes, he is. The official story is that he's feeling physically not up to it.
A friend of mine said it's because he can't get the Vatican to go along with his ideas, so he's quitting.

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Quite an even for the Holy See...

http://tv.msnbc.com/2013/02/11/vatican-says-pope-resigning-on-feb-28/

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

yes, it sure is.
although I'm not Catholic, I can understand how they look to one person to be their "head" of the church - someone to set interpretations of the "rules" of the Bible.
I can just imagine the shock of the Catholics around the world............

Happy Happy Birthday Judy Judy ! (HUGS)

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all,

staying home today, still not up to par..tomorrow is another day! Guess no pancakes for me, tummy is squishy....

Debbie glad that you are pleased thus far with you new doctor..let's hope the 25th gives you yet more hope. By the time you get home you will be totally exhausted..hope youve had a good night sleep.

Not sure the girls are coming today for their gathering so went outside to shovel their pathway..omg the snow is so heavy/wet, could hardly lift the shovel, came in trying to catch my breath, what a workout..that is about as much as I'll do today.

Was going to clear 3 of the tables of my work project but think I shall wait, if girls don't come then I'll have saved myself some work.

Mary, watched a show on the dangers year round, most murders anywhere, yikes almost enough to scare me from going again this summer..will have to research to see if most occur near the French quarter and bourbon street..

Judy, are you all birthday'd out?? Lol

As for the Pope, am sure it's all about his giving his all and if he can't then on with a new..see that a Canadian is in the running along with a strong African..like in politics they'll all be giving it their best

Lay down time

Ohh wish DS Sharon luck please at Westminster Show

Wishing Sharon so much luck!!! I watched the Eukanoba show last weekend thinking she might be in it.
I'm glad to hear you are staying put today Betty. If you don't take care of yourself now it will take twice as long to get better. Plenty of fluids and plenty of rest seems to be the only help. I'm keeping you in my prayers for a speedy recovery.
Happy continuing birthday Judy!!! I'm sure it is still going on. Should at least go through Thursday!!!!
Glad to hear Dad is happy about being able to stay where he is LK. The happiness factor plays a big role in recovery and he seems to be doing quite well now. Answered prayers.
My daughter is headed to Colorado on Thursday to visit with our family out there for a few days. It is a Christmas present from her DH. He went snowmobiling for a week so this is her getaway time. I've been crocheting some hats for her to take for herself, my dear DIL and my two dear GDs. They are coming along cute and I'll try to remember to get a picture when they are finished.
How are you doing Bev? I have you on my mind....
Hoping Dianne and Thea are staying warm. The snow seems to be holding off for a few days here and it is giving us a chance to clear some of it away. It is fun watching the squirrels jump through the snow to get to the peanuts Norm throws out for them. One minute they are bouncing along and the next they are digging out!!!!
Off for a shower - bbl......

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone!Betty, you don't need to be shoveling when your so sick! Your body needs the rest!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Needed to be done before it gets too high to handle, not a big area..
Girls aren't here and it's 9am so glad that I didn't clean my working area downstairs..maybe in passing they saw my vehicle home yesterday so decided they would cancel for this week. Just as well, now I can nap between calls..

Stating to snow again..just think in a bit more than a month it will be over with..

Sounds like a car door..off to check

What are they working on today Betty!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Pat is teaching June how the freehand quilt a piece for her the new grandchild..Ann is working at quilting placemats I had her make a few weeks ago..both beginners and loving it. pat is an accomplished sewer..I'm suppose to be upstairs but having more fun listening to the banter ..they've sewing, knitting and other crafts set out..Lordy you'd think they are here for a year..

In the boxes of fabric they brought a few weeks ago was a set of 20 large hand appliqué 18" sunbonnet sue blocks, June will purchase coordinating fabric and make it just incase her DS/DIL have a girl..

So lots to keep them busy

Victoria Harbour, ON

Didnt know sick days were so much fun..had I known I'd have taken more days off. Lol

Girls have left for the day, they sure as some of you have met them, all filled with the devil...lots of laughs

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sounds like you had a good morning? Now get some rest please?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Had a wonderful day with the girls and to make it even more special Noah came and asked if I'd like him to spend the night...Absolutely

Had a talk, talked about Allan and drugs, how school is, how one can get caught up with wrong crowds then dropped the subject..want this to be a safe place to come..

Ann and I will play bingo then Noah and I will enjoy the treats I sent him for.

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

Son got his orders today, he is to leave on Thursday morning. He will be driving up to Newport Rhode Island. He will be in an Officer training class until April 17th. then he will be going to Kansas to go to College. University of Kansas in Lawrence. not sure if he will start classes in the summer session, or if they will have him wait till fall semester???

anybody know anybody out there??? he is going to have to find a place to live. He will be there for three years.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Thunder that's such positive news, how proud you must be..

Proud of Noah tonight..he told me such a sad story.

Seems he is friends with a native boy called Brandon..Brandon's grandmother passed away several months ago..Brandon spent a lot of time with her seeing as his dad ran a meth (?) lab, a very abusive man so it was better he stay with her..the loss was a big loss.

worried about brandon's welfare and safety the indian band sent him to Midland to a foster home..father found out where so they sent him to Toronto..weeks later father killed the mother.

Now he's lost all his family. Noah said Brandon is suicidal and he Noah texts him 2 or 3 times a day telling him how he is valued..almost tempts you to open your home right? Sure had a nice evening with Noah..

Baton Rouge, LA

Noah has a HUGE heart like Grandma.... he sounds like a good natured but serious soul.... wants to fix the wrong in the world.....

Betty did the show say that New Orleans had a high murder rate? Or am I reading into your post.... I'm not sure about that but I do know (especially being in the TV business) that I pretty much question everything put before me. Especially statistics.

Folks around here were trying to say that Baton Rouge has a higher murder rate than Chicago... I did some web research and it was easy to find some evidence against that...

I'm not saying that I even believe the stats that I found... just remember when you are watching shows... it's all about the ratings and ratings aren't generally as high when everything is positive and good...

Please take care of yourself ! (HUGS)

Barb how wonderful for your Daughter to spend time with family... Her hubby must be a great guy....

I missed her too!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Awe, she really missed her Momma!

Lyndonville, NY

She was in the backseat and started whining...and wiggled herself up front onto my lap and there was no way to stop her.
Every time I said "izzy get in the back" she turned her head and I got a big kiss. SO, I kept quiet! lol

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all,

Almost feeling my old self today, bit queezy but one heck better! Nice to wake up and have someone in the house to wake up with for breakfast, might even make some muffins.

Mary, they were giving statistics comparing to Chicago, murders were substantially higher in Nola, frightening numbers.with visiting this summer my thoughts are to go visit New Orleans proper, see some of the city. Things going better for you this week Mary?

Oh Debbie, those photo's are just too precious. Izzy sure is a mommy's girl.

Dianne called last night, she needs fabric for a quilt, mad asked me a few weeks ago if I'd like to take her to Buffalo, had said no problem so with this weekend being our Family day long weekend she wondered if I'd like to go Sat only..told her I'd need to see how the rest of the week goes. She is not a shopper so it would be a quick trip across and back. I have packages to send out..my accuquilt broke a Greer and a heavy article to ship so that would help $$$ wise, just have to wait and see.

Guess I'd better get muffins made and get dressed.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone! Don't burn the muffins Betty! ^_^
I take your home again today?
How is the remodeling coming along? Do you have lumber on order yet?

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Betty-I posted your Round Robin for you.... Please tell Noah that Norm and I said Hello!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Here I am at work, still a bit chilled, have micro furnace on, will entertain myself with little things today like photo copying some patterns so if I do come over your side of the border saturday everything I promised can be mailed.

Best I go buy a valentine pressie for Noah seeing as he says he will keep me company again tonight..he's precious, truly is..will do Barb

Victoria Harbour, ON

Will be praying Jacob comes out a winner but as you say, just going is an honor and it's all about them having fun. Charge/charge that camera, we'll all be waiting anxiously for photo's AND he must be overwhelmed that family members are going to support him.

LindaKay, called Bernie this morning about the supply order..he is having some personal problems, said he didn't get around to it..hasn't been working lately needs $$$ but but but..was going to offer it to him then he could do the work but don't want to invest only to find out he doesn't come..its been almost a year since I've been asking..know he's been unwell but yet another but....
