Guess it has to run its course..had coffee/cereal in hopes it will help, not so sure as I hear rumbling in tummy.

I still have phones here so not like I'm taking a real day off. Lol

Chilled, so just turned heat and fireplaces on.

Bernie is making a supply list for me to order so he can start the restructure of furnace room..changing location of the entry into craft room, will enclose actual furnace with slidding doors, drywall and put ceiling tiles up and if lucky built in cupboards and work space, then slidding doors in craft room where i store paint and magazine ..always look disorganized so it would definately look cleaner...depending on the cost, just might finish with counter top and zinc for washroom.

I'll start putting pennies away , ohhh we don't have pennies anymore, so it will have to be nickels to put washroom downstairs..costly because it would need special pump to pump up to level grade of municipal connection.

Tired of half finished areas..that would only leave kitchen window, washroom window, ceiling in family room..

I go for so long than these unfinished projects get to me..am sure you are all the same

Meant to add, Sharon is off to Westminster dog show..if her entry was to win best of breed she would break all records set for wins..will let you know when he's showing

Shrove Tuesday tomorrow!!!! Who is having pancakes???

Victoria Harbour, ON

Hmmm hope tummy is well enough to have them

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

Happy Birthday Judy !!!
wonderful cake LindaK.

Betty I sure hope you feel better very soon.....sending you soft and gentle, healing hugs ♥♥♥

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

What is Shrove Tuesday?

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Down here it is called Fat Tuesday...the day before Ash Wednesday and the start of the Lenten season which runs until Easter. It is considered the last day of indulgence before the "sacrifice or fasting" for repentance during the 7 weeks before Easter in the Catholic/Orthodox faiths.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Oh, I have never heard of Shrove Tuesday. Thanks for the explanation.

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

You are most welcome. Ya learn these things when you grow up in a predominantly Catholic area like South Louisiana.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Lol, yep last time to feast up with pancakes and maple syrop..by golly think I've a container that Barb and Norm brought me..was you Barb?? Or was it in a swap??

Am ambitious, got up, bit ties were knawing at me, wanted the bed so made it up around them, having another coffee, mouth is so dry..might call the kids tonight and have them bring me juices..

Wonderful to have friends, Aline called yesterday about me going to Florida with her, told her no can do, then the calls kept rolling in, no sooner would fall asleep another would come..drats, hard to rest when you have to answer calls.

Ann had update on Toby..calmed him down, he was well enough on Friday to start this round of chemo, they even did it over the weekend and today would be last day of this series..if they think he's well enough he will go home in the morning and come back Friday for his next session.

Verona, ON

So glad to read that Ann was able to calm Toby down and after today's session he has until Friday for himself. While it is nice to have the treatments daily to get them over faster it is also much easier on your body to have a rest between the treatments. Just the daily exhaustion of getting to the hospital, getting yourself ready for the treatment and then the trip back to where you are staying after the treatment can be overhelming some days. Sending positive thoughts and prayers of strength and comfort for Toby and his family.

Oh Betty I hope you start to feel better today. From what I understand those that come down with the flu just have to merrily wait while the flu takes its time wrecking havoc on your body. Take care of yourself, don't over do it or think you are better and go back to work too soon. At least with the phones switched over you won't feel like you are letting Paul down.

OK while looking for a new TV I have come upon a couple of new terms. What exactly is a LCD and a LED TV? And just exactly is the difference between LCD and LED? Remember when you could go in and ask to buy a TV and the biggest condumdrum was whether to buy B&W or Colour?

Freezing Rain Warning in effect. So far all it has done is snow.

Victoria Harbour, ON

So laughing Dianne, black/white or color..showing our age..even had test patterns to contend with..so which shall you buy?

Mild outside, can see the snow melting away. Greg called me this morning, said they had a wonderful couple of days snowmobiling..

Have to tell you a feeling I had yesterday, with this business of them finding out Noah had tried drugs and my not seeing him since, almost thought when I did I'd see a drug addict kid! Here Noah came to bring me gravol, all concerned, wanted to hug me, stay with me, being his own loving self..hmmmm let's hope getting caught and heavy restrictions put on him that he will think better of it again.

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Oh, we just had to replace our TV a few months ago. We got a Sanyo 32 inch LCD with HD capability for $250 at WalMart. We can watch HD or regular programming and picture is clear on either. On regular programming, the only difference is the picture does not fill the entire screen, there is a small black band on either side, but that is of no bother to us as we had a 25 inch TV before...has to do with the way the signal is sent.

http://www.walmart.com/ip/20659573?wmlspartner=wlpa&adid=222...

As a general rule, the LCD (Liquid Crystal Diode) is less expensive than the LED (Light emitting Diode). Most laptop monitors are LCD displays. Here is a bit of info on the differences.

Thanks Moon. I knew I could count on you to point me in the right direction. I have printed the articles off so I can read them at my leisure later today.

I did see on line at Leon's ( a Cdn The Brick type of store) a Samsung 40" Ultra=Slim LED HDTV which has a built-in wireless LAN so you can access the internet without extra cables or wires. On sale for $799.00. Looking at all sorts of options but thin for the room 40 in is about the best size. My head is spinning with all of this info!!

You are most welcome Dianne. It can get confusing as all get out. Best option is to figure out what you need/want before you go into the store. That way you don't pay for options you will never use.

Hello, humming with you all Happy Birthday to me!! lol.

Thanks you so much for the lovely Birthday Greeting/wishes!!
ohhh and the beautiful cake Linda Kay and birthday call from my Moonbeam!!

Also, Thank you for the Congrats to Jacob! Best birthday present huh...
I gotta say, you bet we are So Proud of him. He has worked so very hard to get to State even though he was in pain, his knee has been doing great, but his foot was badly bruised from practice, watching him on the mat you would never know he was injured.
I was trying to recall what his first coach had said about him..ohwah actually remembered too!
So i have reflected upon that and yep i have to agree, the boy has "NO FEAR" the minute he steps on the mat, he forgets everything and anything except the match.
LOL...So his match was streamlined as he wrestled, little clips, but they missed the best one! Oh well I saw it and I literally jumped off the bleacher rooting for my guy, hahah, I've come along way! The kids support hollering how he can "take this kid" Yeah right, I and dad were hollering oh no you can't! The kid kept getting out of bounds in order to stop and catch a breath, lol...Jacob had his wrestling team about 8 guys included his first Coach, who is retired came to see him. So the best part is, Jacob is the very first Varsity Wrestler to go to state, His photo will be added to the "State" Wall of fame in the school, overall the team came in at 27th. We are a very young wrestling team...Remember he had gone to state a couple of years ago but it was no big deal, lol now he is varsity and he will be heading to state on Thursday with two coaches and we will meet him on Friday night.
If you would like to check it out, you can go to this site: highschoolcube type in his name Jacob Suter his clip is at the Barrington HighSchool Sectionals. I took a few pics with my cell phone, so will try and load them in a few.

So I celebrated my Birthday yesterday with a Spa day for me!! Started with an incredible breakfast, scrubbed all my teeth(haha) gave myself a facial, ohhh how nice and smooth this "old" face is...then i actually took my sweet time and gave myself a manicure!! I love this Color, its called "make an entrance", thought it pretty cool as I am entering into the over the Century mark, a very pretty dark pink, almost red...Dh fired up the hot tub and we both had a great soak. Wow, i loved it and will not argue next time he goes unless its colder then 35*. For enjoyment and relaxation, I read and watch the Walking Dead marathon, Then we all went Captains Quarter for dinner! Jacob got his celebration Steak and i got my Sea Bass, ohhh, yum and meee. Came home and watched the new WD episode and fell fast asleep on the couch, lol.
Oh and by the way, I am still offically 50 until 710 P.M....hehehe.
This morning made my self a nice egg sandwich, did my morning stuff...took the beast for a ride to reset the stupid light...Bam on it came, so now got to take it in and see what the heck its malfunction is, sigh.

Betty, Betty, what a big bummer you have the flu! Sending you some healing Armwraps. Am so glad you are staying/working from home today. Geesh, any other time that phone stays quite, now your sick and everyones gotta make a ringle jingle, poor girl. sure hope you get some rest in between...Too cute about the picture of you and Jake, he just smiled away at all the comments from everyone, said Thanks...
Oh yes, also meant to say, Barbara I think had a nephew?? who wrestled for Iowa, wow what a small world, That is where Jake is hoping to get a scholarship to, they have an incredible Culinary arts course and of course Wrestling...so we keep our fingers crossed!`

Yay, for you katie, so glad you had a good run in the game!! So glad your weather was gorgeous too, always nice to get gardening and sewing in a day...Ohhh, which reminds me, singing Spring is in the air...My house plants are starting to Bloom, oh ya!

Dianne, sure hope you find the right television for you.

Debbie, with you in Spirit, sure hope all goes well and you find some answers! OMG, how Cool that your Izzy is a news star, what a great photo you took..hey have that one of the News screen blown up and get her Pawtograph, wink...Well, as far as sahne, well a start in the right direction at least popping in so you can see him and know he is ok. I guess in time he will be able to talk with you, sure hope so.

Linda kay, so sorry, i knew i missed posting the other day. Keep dad in my prayers everyday...I was really glad to that he understands the situation. But you know, I thought it was real cool for you to have that talk with mom, sometimes it's just what you need to get through things, You and kathy have both taken excellent care, so sorry to hear the of the nieces immature thoughts. Dad knows you all Love him and only want what best for him. Big tight Armwraps to you. and I will continue to Pray Dad works hard so he will be able to come home sooner....(I still talk to my mom all the time)

Waiving Hiya Liz!! Thanks for bday wishes.

Barbara, has it stopped snowing yet? Oh my gosh, Had to have a great smile over the quilting square for measuring snow!! Awe, Norm making sure the critters all have been fed, so sweet!

Ok been typing forever, again...
Mary, So glad the "normal" is returning!
Susan, so glad to see you post, been a while and i was hoping you've just been busy.

Okie dokie then, got to go make some rounds!
Enjoy the Day, 'm going to curl up and work on finishing my book.

Glenview, IL

...I caught part of the interview, Jacob was stating his win was for the his Coaches and his team!!
and the third...Don't know this little ones name but she was his BEST cheerleader!!
Kept yelling ..get him Suter, it was just adorable, had so much fun watching her, she is the Coaches daughter.

oh and here is that sight. just scroll down till you see his name...after a second or too his match begins.

Happy birthday, Judy. I'm sending you sunshine and fne weather.

Betty, no package yet. I'll let you know whne it arrives. We check mail about once a week and Mario the Poatal worker has my phone number.

Max took a piece out of the side of my right hand last night. I'm OK but it's hard to type so I'll see you all later.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Oh Katie, you need to be careful with those bites! Hope it does not get infected?

Victoria Harbour, ON

SHAKING MY FINGER AT MAX, bad dog/bad dog!! One of these days Katie he'll do you real harm..worry about that. Gee whiz, mailed it January 2nd. Oh well, treat it as an early 2013 Christmas gift as if we are lucky you will get it just before then.

LindaKay, nothing from Missouri quilts??

Aunt Muriel dropped in for a bit, even after I said please don't..would hate for her being so frail to catch what I have! She brought me 2 sets of antique pillowcases trimmed with wide crochet, one set clovers and the other fans..they belonged to my aunt Laurie's great grandmother so must be near 100 years old, never used just sat in a trunk..not sure what I shall do with them but am sure I will find a home for them.

Debbie, thought of you often, here is hoping tests went well..sure you are exhausted..here is hoping you have Internet as to be able to let us know how you are doing..

Still smiling at how well my Jake is doing..Judy said I could share in her pride.
Things had better change between now and tomorrow or I'll be home 1 more day.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Snowing here, pray for another Snowday so I can stay in bed..

LindaKay, what are you working on today..are you able to get some gardening done?

Verona, ON

And here Betty we thought Canada's Postal Service was the worst in the world!!!!!

Oh Katie I admire your heart and perserverance with Max but like Betty I do worry about him taking a much more serious bite out of you. I so understand as I once had a dog named Cassie. I slept for months or a reasonable facsimile of sleep with my hand holding onto her collar.

Happy Birthday Judy. What a young chick you are!!! Handsome son you have there!!! I just knew from the things you have said about Jake that he would tough it out on the mat. I coached T & F and VB for years. I quicklly found out it wasn't necessarily the most talented but the most dedicated that would win the even for you. First to go to State - wow that is some honour!!!

Waiting anxiouslly for Debbie to check in. I do hope that the day wasn't too overwhelming for her.

Wind is very bad here right now. Has really picked up in the last hour. I had wanted to dump ashes but don't dare with the wind this strong.I worry that there might be a small live ash in the bottom of the can and even with the snow I fret it would catch something on fire.

Plow guy came today to tidy up the lane and my drive. He does this at no extra charge. Wouldn't you know he chose today to come and pay his respects about Warren passing. I appreciated that he knew Warren had not wanted a fuss made when he passed and he respected that. Still shakesa up your emotions a little though.

Lights are flickering again. Off I go before I lose this post.

Jean - Shrove Tuesday is a catholic thing (small c), not just Catholic (Roman). I recently learned there is a difference - I'm catholic (United/Methodist/Congregationalist/Presbyterian - your choice lol) and belong to the United Church of Canada - http://www.united-church.ca/welcome

Victoria Harbour, ON

Susan, thought being a roman catholic was a roman catholic?? Are you telling me gal I'm something else??

Dianne, waiting on news from Debbie as well. I'm sure she has had a long day!
Yep, going on 5-6 weeks since parcel left Florida for Mexico..can't say it's worse than here as you never did get your first package..did you ever do the 2nd one?

Hugs dear friend, know exactly how you feel having someone give heartfelt condolences even after months/years have gone by..emotions are close to the heart and those emotions surface and the hurt still so strong you feel like you are back to step 1 of this nightmare called reality.

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Actually, no....catholic with a small c means all encompassing, universal, comprehensive, which Shrove Tuesday is not. It is mainly celebrated by practitioners of Catholicism, Greek and Russian Orthodoxy and Anglicanism (Great Britain/England) and is generally not recognized as a holy day by other faiths.

Hope you feel better soon, Betty.

Ah, Katie....do have a care with that bite. Good luck with the next tournament.

LK, glad to hear your Dad can stay where he feels comfortable and has made friends.

Hope you all have a lovely evening

Victoria Harbour, ON

Thanks Jean, regardless I'll enjoy pancakes tomorrow.

Did I miss where your dad is now living LindaKay..likely as I try to read, focus then fall asleep half way through..sorry!

Jean, are you out playing in the gardens..how is that grandson of yours doing?

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

The pancakes are a tradition Betty...and that is indeed from post Reformation England when rich foods such as butter, eggs, milk and sugar were forbidden during the Lenten season...families would use them up on Shrove Tuesday so they would not go to waste over Lent.

"Pancakes are associated with the day preceding Lent because they were a way to use up rich foods such as eggs, milk, and sugar, before the fasting season of the 40 days of Lent. The liturgical fasting emphasized eating plainer food and refraining from food that would give pleasure: In many cultures, this means no meat, dairy, or eggs.

In Canada, Australia, the United Kingdom, Ireland and New Zealand among Anglicans, Lutherans and some other Protestant denominations, including ethnic British communities, Episcopalians in the United States as well as Catholics, this day is also known as "Pancake Day" as it is a common custom to eat pancakes as a meal In the United Kingdom, Pancake Day is also an annual feature on the children's television show Blue Peter.

In Newfoundland small tokens are frequently cooked in the pancakes. Children take delight in discovering the objects, which are intended to be divinatory. For example, the person who receives a coin will be wealthy; a nail that they will become or marry a carpenter."

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Dad is staying where he is, I guess one of the residents passed away, so that made room for Da. He does not have to move, and make new friends. He is quite happy about staying where he is.
I did not work on much day, as I was busy running to get groceries, and post office. Not much gardening yet. I bought a bunch of bricks this past week end, I want to build a small retaining wall around the ash tree, and plant some caldium's in there. I still need to get several bags of potting soil.
