Best/Worse/What did I learn today? Chat with friends..
thanks Betty, yes as Mom I always worry.
Darlene would probably have trouble even getting into TO airport tonight and probably even into mid afternoon tomorrow if this storm stays on course. Wouldn't you know when she really needs to get back here she can't land. Sneding prayers for her mam, poor thing. That really sounds like gangrene the way you described it Betty. How is Ann's DN Toby? I so hope hee chose to stay at the hospital in TO. The nice thing about PMH Lodge is that his fiancee could stay right there with him and the cost for a week is probably less than that 50% discounted hotel room last night which is not far from the lodge. When I was there in 2010 it cost $75.00/week and included 3 meals a day, shuttle service back and forth to the hospital plus 24 hr a day nursing care. For the person accompanying the patient it was slightly more but not much. If we hadn't had the dogs and 2 cats Santa Warren would have come up with me.
LK what does your dad think about being moved? Does he see that he has improved physically or is it still too overwhelming for him?
Oh Thunder your son is so lucky to have a mom who worries about him. I was talking to the mother of an old neighbour at her 100th BD party. She said to me that she was glad her son Ron was retired ( he was a tanker truck driver for Shell) because she always worried about him on the road in bad weather. Ron drove until he was 67 and Shell made him quit due to age llimitations - now he probably could have gone after them for discrimination. Sending positive thoughts that the bad weather will have tappered off while he gets closer to his destination. Yes a scraper is a good idea but also some candles, flashlight, jumper cables, a blanket, box of granola bars and some drinking water are also great to have on hand. He probably has most of that on hand anyway and this is probably not the only bad weather he is going to encounter while at the course.
Holding my breath Debbie that Shane's arrival does not upset you too much. You need to be as calm as you can going into this appointment on Mon. Sending you huge hugs, Diesel does too.
Still haven't been for a nap am definitely going to go for 1 now. Now just watch something distract me!
D
Dad is not happy with the move, but he understands what is going on.
Thanks for the new room Betty.
I was going to say, she could fly home by herself, but with this bad weather, I fear there won't be too many airplanes flying. she would be better off putting her trip off for a few days! I know she wants to be home but she needs to think of her safety too!
Dianne, you will not get your nap until bed time if you haven't already!
Ann is still in Toronto, was suppose to be home today but likely will put it off until tomorrow due to weather. I will get an update tomorrow.
Know Dar is worried as can be, her sister is waiting a bit to see what the doctors say then uses she will make a choice..she has been so worried..not a lot she can do but has been on the telephone quite a bit with her when hermom was able to talk, since oxygen it has been more difficult.. Suggested if she felt it an emergency for her to have a neighbor feed the furries and fly home, I'd jump on next plane, pack everything up and drive the car back myself..
Wait and see
Judy, sending positive thoughts and energy to Jake. If anyone can work through the pain your lad Jake can. (((Judy))).
OK definitely going for that nap now but I am unplugging the phone. I have had 16 calls from sales people and 3 from the so-called Windows Service Centre ( from 3 different people) since 10 am. Those are just the calls I answered, I see the light is blinking on the phone so someone has left a message. I swear these Call Centres have decided they have a captive audience with those of us experiencing this ferocious storm. Almost all schools, colleges, universities and many small businesses are closed.
Still can't see the end of the dock for the blowing snow and even this house is chilly so I know the storm is blowing in from the North East.
Later gator!

Must be overwhelming for your dad LindaKay, but has to come to realize it's the kind of 24/7 care he needs...you must be beside yourself!
We should all have an expiration date and all living healthy until that date..not looking forward to getting much older..
Who me, worried.... Still pretty upset with what my niece posted on Facebook. But I have asked God for forgiveness, and will let HIM handle it!
That is about all you can do Lindakay, am sure she is already regretting her words!
Judy, hugs sweet friend, normal to get in a slump this time of year but if it lasts much longer please get something from the doctor! You know you are home with us, I automatically kow when you don't post it's because you are having a difficult time of it.. Now girl, isn't Monday your birthday, means happy days and time to celebrate.
Omg I can see Jake explaining all this to you and yes, he's very interactive when he speaks, he's just too cute. Here is hoping a scholarship awaits him..
With Steve working on a project and not at home I'm sure you'll get tome to breath.
Checking in on you all before calling it a night..hooe all have power and are safely tucked in.
Kyle just called, said he put 56 hours in last week and busy at work again this week so hasn't had much of a chance to drop in. Noah is working with him on Satirdays..
Melanie went with Mary to Buffalo for hockey game..we're gong to come home today but will end up staying tomorrow if not Sunday..Greg he's busy out with the snowblower.
Yawning, suppose to have a class tomorrow, we shall see
Night/night
Stay warm and sleep tight everyone. T-shirt weather here during the day. Flannel nightgowns at night. I've been eating broccoli from my garden.
hugs, katie
Hello To All !
Yes Dianne.... the 2 weeks from "H-E-Double Hockey Sticks" are over.... so back to the usual H#)*( LOL LOL..... So seeing Diesel and the old Stormy and Deb's Izzy playing in the snow and thinking Belle would just have a ball with them....
Please stay safe from Nemo.... Love the FB posts with "Finding Nemo" in the snow.... I definitely can not do Snow...... Such the Southern Girl I am..... Bless you all
Deb... Yes the Rebel Son stage I am working through.... Hope Shane coming home is a sign that he realizes what that represents and might be easier to deal with.
DS is working. Not in Community College and I am now charging him rent to stay here... not much... but a nominal amt $200. He also owes me money that he will again begin to pay off. He started last week at a new job.
Thunder... I remember the first time I drove in the snow....
In Chicago 1987.... Since I was so confused and scared I was EXTRA careful and saw people completely doing 360's.... I was about 21.... and probably more careful than most.... I know your son is more mature than I was at that age. I don't know... maybe that will send some comfort?
Judy - I'm not happy that Jake was harassed but however maybe it was a good experience... and GOOD FOR HIM for passing through unscathed other than feeling picked on.... now he knows what can possibly happen.... congratulations for his wrestling and so wonderful you had a great bahamama time....
Bev I think of you every time I see my daylilies... (hugs0
Katie... maybe you and I can wrestle Debbie down and get her Broccoli Cheese Soup Recipe?
Hugs to all.... I'm ready to go "Back to normal" after this work project.
Mary
Morning all..
Not daybreak yet but I can see its calm, not snowing and suppose to be a sunshine day. Am sure organizers of Winterfest will be thrilled. Might drop into their craft show, never see much that I must have but maybe today I will. Debbie will have to check Hamburg, isn't there a winter craft show?
Waiting for Andrew to plow so I can move my car and let him do the entire area then will be off to sewing class, trip to Canadian Tire, great sales then home to enjoy remainder of the weekend.
Mary, wonderful that you have time to breath..
Doesn't do DS any harm paying rent, gives them a start re budgeting for real world!
Barb, Norm got home without any mishap?
Debbie/Thea/Dianne, sure hooe you made it through the storm and have so done to shovel you out..
Good morning! I still have power so thought I would check in. We are safe and sound with about 20" of snow and it is still falling. The wind is ferocious with white outs at times as the snow is powdery. I decided to crochet instead of sew until I know it is over and I won't lose the power. I'll get pictures when it is over....
Barb, sunshine heading your way..you are getting what we had about a day behind so get your shorts out. Lol
Off for a sewing class
Gab later
Good morning, we totaled out at almost 14 inches of snow.....and we have a celebrity living with us.
Miss Isabelle made the news! I took a few pictures of all the snow in the drive and Izzy playing in the snow, and sent a couple to the
TV FB page, well, Aaron picked one of my shots to put on TV. She was on both the 6:20 and the 11:20 news cast!!!
Mary, Shane will learn nothing and after telling me he would be home for dinner at 5:00, showed up at 7:30....left again and never
came home last night. The minute I approach and try to talk...he just leaves and won't come home. SO it is a no win situation.
After my appointment when I am more "relaxed" maybe I can do more...but like Dianne said, I can't get riled up now.
One thing I am very upset about, got a call from FIL last night, Insurance "pulled" his approval for his surgery. He really needs this, and I feel so
bad I was just praying they didn't go. (Because of MIL) but feel horrible he can't get this done. After letters of approval and everything, someone
reviewed his file and he can't have surgery there. SOOO DH and I will be going alone.
OK, I need coffee....slept in a bit.
Barb, praying you and Norm are OK...sure didn't like news report from up your way!
Debbie
We are doing okay here in Snowsville!!! We are at 25" and still snowing. Last report the weatherman said it should stop around noon. Fun!!! Then we wait for the plowman and our grandchildren to come dig us out!!! Took the pictures on the deck. I think it is deeper on the yard!!!!
Picnic is on hold until the snow stops!!!LOL
Ladies, that is a lot of snow your all getting! Please keep it there! ^_^
Think we northerners are all looking out at the same view. Don't know if it's the shovelling or the shopping that tired me out.
Sewing class was for the ultimate beginners..how to herald the machine, wind the bobbin, what needles to use and how to do a zig zag..big sigh.
Dropped in to see Darlene's mom, she is so tired, lucid, but think she wants to get the sale of her home done with this week and then she'll give up.
Darlene just called, wanted update on her mom...
Ann isn't home yet, stayed in the city re the storm yesterday.
I'm covered with rag quilt, fireplace is on, all the while I'm thinking I should be up doing something rather than waste the day.
Debbie, sorry to hear your FIL can't have his surgery..hard to believe the insurance provider would let it get as far as this then say no..ohhh a movie star, need some special spoiling now..
Left a message on Bernie's answering machine to say I'm home..want to get these few projects done and behing me..maybe he is out plowing and will come tomorrow..
Drats left Canadian tire shopping in the trunk..wonder if I bought anything hat can freeze, ahhh maybe the red licorice lol
These are the kind of views I was allowed today!!! Neither Norm nor myself were to go out to shovel, sweep, or anything else!!!
The one in blue is my daughter Stacy - about 30-33" drifted onto the deck.
The one in green is my oldest grandson Brandon. He got to clear Papa's truck and shovel to the oil fill and electric meter!!!
Don't really know what we would do without them....
They will have sore muscles tonight for sure! A blessing for sure having them come and shovel you out.
Called mom, says she is unwell, asked about Jim, she said he shoveled a few hours yesterday and several today, gone to bed with a headache
Sure hope your Mom is doing better soon Betty!
Barb, that is a lot of work, they need to get a snow blower, make it easier.
Linda, they are shoveling where the snow blower can not go!!! She is clearing the deck and he is going to the oil fill and electric meter-rocks so no snow blower!!! They did use it for the rest if the driveway and for the path around the other side of house!!!!,
Has it stopped snowing Barb? Day after a storm is so pretty!
Debbie, you packed?
LindaKay, she keeps getting test and they find nothing..some of her problems is just her age and she thinks she should feel 20
Packed? Me? Oooops!
Woohooo!!!
My boy wins the 220 Sectional Champ!!
Going on to State!!!
Yep doing the proud mama jig...lol were starving going out to celebrate in afew.
Yeah for Jake! Congrats Judy!
How's his leg doing?
Jumping for Jake. WTG. kb
That is just Awesome news Judy! Way to go Jake!!! Congrats to all the family....you all had his back!
Debbie
Congrats to Jake ! yay! Judy !
Hello To All ! Debbie (hugs) was hoping there was a change... wonderful that Izzy is a STAR ! Such a cute photo no wonder they picked it...
Don't feel bad dear.... it's all in Gods hands and there was a reason I'm sure .....
Thought about Betty a lot today as I planted seeds she brought me ever so carefully in pots. I am not good with seeds so I tried to think everything through. Rather than water them with the hose... I put rainwater in a spray bottle and sprayed them. Put them up against the house where they will get sun and rain and a little protection. It might get down to 34 this week but told Hubby... "They are Canadian seeds... they are used to snow"....
HUGS to all with the snow... I just can't wrap my brain around how many inches you all get.... Hope everyone pulls through unscathed....
Barb Kudos to your Daughter and GS.... I know they enjoy helping you....
Have a wonderful evening all !
Mary
WOOOOO HOOOO Jake!!!!! All your aunties here on DG are very proud of you. Congrats Judy and Steve, your buttons must be popping off of your shirts.
Sweet dreams everyone!
Dianne
So wonderful Judy. How was your celebration?
The snow finally stopped late yesterday afternoon. We had a 27" total. Today is is so pretty. First thing (even before breakfast!!!) Norm was out stocking the bird feeder and putting out new suet and tossing the peanuts for the squirrels. We had a tray table on the deck last night with some seed for the ground feeders and ended up with 12 mourning doves there!!! He did feed Callie (our cat) first though.
In bed with the flu. 4am called Ber not to come to measure the area I want done..called aunt Muriel at 8 to say no rag quilt day! Who arrived at my door, Bernie, exactly at 8am as promised..drats, wore a t- towel over my face..let's hope he doesn't get it
Oh Betty, feel better!!!!
Heading out, will update when I can.
Debbie
Take care Debnie, sure hope you find some answers.
Betty, get some rest. Hope your feeling better soon.
Betty remember to keep drinking as much as you can...feel better soon. hugs ♥♥♥
Debbie, I hope your journey is safe, and informative.
saw some snow pictures on the news. crazy storm!!! and I understand there is more on the way!!!
stay warm and safe Y'all
Noah just brought mr liquid gravol. Here is hoping it helps.
Sure hope that makes you feel better soon!
Well. I did better than about 600 other people (out of 750) in the tournament but not well enough to win. Will be playing in a money tournament in a few minutes.
I did both fabric work and garden work today. My knee is much better and so is my shoulder. Poco poco, as we say. My shoulder is a little sore now but not bad. Knee is good. As a result, I've had more energy than usual and I'm very happy about that. Also happy that I don't have to shovel snow.
I just bought a lot of baatik fabric on eBay. Just what I need, more fabric. Will have to go to San Diego sometime soon to get it and do other shopping and see my doctor.
It's another gorgeous day here. I'm sending everybody warm blue skies.
hugs, katie
