On this cold blisters day, may we come and sit with you out if the storm and into the sunshine?

We moved from here:

Storm quickly moving in so we are working from home today..can you see me smile?

Lyndonville, NY

Betty, be careful. The wind is horrid here, and the snow/sleet is starting.

My poor DH had a wicked day yesterday. Was supposed to fly out of Rochester at 5:50ish. Got to the airport at 3:30 for check in and security....and there they all sat....until 10:40 last night. Flight after flight delay due to weather in Philly and here also. Finally there flight arrived to pick them up and had mechanical issues, so
they had to wait for another plane to come get them!!! he finally got to hotel and room at 1:30 a.m. this morning. Mind you he had been up since 4;15 a.m yesterday morning, worked a full day...then that!

Amazingly....and knocking wood, my DS stayed home almost all day with me yesterday....made a batch of cookies, helped with groceries and last night made me dinner. We watched a car remodeling show "Counting Cars" and it was like old times. Makes me wonder how much "DH" is part of his issues. Praying it is good for the next two days....I so enjoyed having him "back".

Stay safe everyone....
Debbie

Day from hell for sure, with all of that happening will Paul need to work all day today? Likely would have been quicker had he drove. Glad you had a nice mom/son day..those are to be cherished for sure.

I will be going nowhere today, will be in the basement playing, likely do a twister quilt. Lol. Does me good not to be sitting.

Darlene has 4 places to look at today. She is buying something..trying to get me to quit work and spend winters in Florida with her...

Lyndonville, NY

Yes, he is out in NJ to work with another company and either fix or learn about some new machine. SO a long day for him.

You know, if you end up in FL....I can be a neighbor! LOL

Victoria Harbour, ON

Highly doubtful right now that I would quit, end of year, who knows. Lol
This staying at home is fun..always a downside..what I earn is my play money soooo would have to think long and hard about doing so.

Paul will be tired by days end for sure.

Can you believe we've already got January in..won't be long we will be thinking gardens..my amaryllis is about to open..excited about that..don't think they last long though.

Called Ann, Toby is really doing poorly, she contemplating gong to Toronto..told her putting herself in harms way would not be the thing to do.

Lyndonville, NY

That poor young man, too young. After living at children's hospital for 3 years with Shannon, see way too much of the pain and suffering cancer causes.
Yes, Ann driving up there in this weather is not a good thing. Just hearing her voice on the phone will help him.

I was thinking the same thing about January gone already. Having a "super bowl" party Sunday, so have to plan that out. I don't care for sports, but
having the kids together is nice.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Sounds like a lot of fun..think it was last year I was in Buffalo and stores were empty..no cars at customs..easy trip, asked the guards why..he said that there never is on Superbowl Sunday.

Lyndonville, NY

Yes I remember that trip. It was either then or when the "kids" had their out door hockey event and so many in town for it, that it was empty except downtown
Buffalo area.

I need to get to Sam's club but will wait til tonight or tomorrow when the wind dies down. Driving a van in this will not be easy.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone! Betty you were up early, glad you have your snow day! Please don't drive on those roads if you don't have too!
Debbie, so glad you had a good night with your son!
Dylan is still in the hospital, and they finally got him a room and crib to sleep in last night. They moved them about 10:30 from the ER cubicle to a room! They should find out today if he is clear to go home or has to stay another day.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Here is hoping LindaKay that he gets the go ahead to go home..am sure he's missing his own bed...guess he'll have to be watched over the next while!

Debbie, nothing is important that you have to go to Sam's Club.

sewing, everyone must be in the storm or home, only got 5 calls this morning and 2 were from ME making sure the phones were transferred.

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Fingers crossed for him to get back home today.. Since everything goes into little mouths, his parents may want to sterilize his washable toys...high chair tray and all the washable things he may get hold of before they bring him home. Since Bleach tends to kill the spores, I found this link for you

http://www.cloroxprofessional.com/industry/health/knowledge-expertise/c-difficile-prevention/

http://www.infectioncontroltoday.com/news/2011/06/clorox-germicidal-wipes-receive-epa-registration-to-kill-c-diff-spores-in-5-minutes.aspx

this link from Lysol states that it does NOT kill C diff spores.

Dylan is not feeling well this morning, he is refusing to take his bottle, so they have placed the IV in his little arm for nourishment and meds. They are waiting on the Dr. to come in and do more lab work, to determine if he stays or goes home.

Valentine card and seed swap, come and check it out!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Best not rush his leaving the hospital, another day or two won't do him any harm.

Thanks for the links Jean, will read up..bet you have sunshine today right?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Jean, those are great links, I will pass them on, thanks!

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Yes, sunshine and chilly...down in the mid 30's last night and for the next 2-3 nights and low 60's daytime. Just another day on the weather rollercoaster...grin

Linda Kay, you are too welcome. From what I have read, once contracted, C diff becomes a lifelong threat for re-infection. Used to be Lysol was the go to for killing stuff that made us sick...still does a good job on microbes...but not for the nasty spores of C diff. I was relieved to see Clorox makes a product that does. Continued good thoughts for the little man.

Big prayers for little Dylan and others.

Tony and I (mostly Tony, he's better at detailed work) are putting insulating film on the windows of the french doors in my bedroom. Twenty-four pieces to install. I cut them and spray the liquid glue. Tony then cuts to size while on window. Both of us work at getting the windows as clean as possible before installation. We work so well together. While he does the detail work I'm sorting and folding fabric.

Mary, you go girl. I was remembering the other day about a supervisor who made my life as miserable as she could for about three years. I finally transferred to another assignment but the b****h did a lot of damage to me and my reputation. A few months after I got away from her, she developed a nasty, painful intestinal cancer that eventually killed her. What goes around, comes around. I didn't celebrate but I didn't mourn either. As far as I was concerned what she got was well-earned. So, Mary, smile sweetly at your supervisor and wish her the best. The universe often takes care of such things so we can relax and take care of ourselves and not worry about it. Sounds like her supervisor knows what the score is.

It's chilly with wind today but, as usual, the sun is shinning and we are having our usual "blue weather." I am actually making some progress on my endless clean-up. Getting the film on the windows is one of those "only once" tasks that we are finally getting to and don't have to worry about redoing - unlike dirty dishes, laundry, dusting, vacuuming, etc. We love the word "permanent."

Big hugs, katie

Ya'll stay warm and inside... Hope I can get as much done as Katie this weekend... next week is the last week of the *project* so will try to rest a bit this weekend too....

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, that is a beautiful red bloom!

Victoria Harbour, ON

It's amazing how quickly it bloomed..put it in it's pot when I got back from Florida, about 4 weeks from bulb to flower..when it's finished blooming do I cut it down to stalk, dry it and it can be replanted another time or once it's spent that's it? will have to go insearch of info

Stacey had her baby girl yesterday. Go to facebook, and look her up. Stacey Combest!

Talking to Andy now, and it is a good possibility that they will get to go home later this afternoon! ^_^

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Beautiful blossom Betty!!! Crissy hit the nail on the head with that one.
It's clear here today but windy. Had a branch come down that nicked the edge of the roof but no damage thank heaven as it is just over the sewing room!

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

That's wonderful Linda Kay!! Congratulations to the Combest family!!!!!!

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Fantastic news regarding Dylan!!!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Great news, Dylan coming home and the Combest family are celebrating a new 'angel' in the family.

Lucky it didn't do damage Barb, something you sure didn't need.

Went to the fabric store in town, yikes, blizzard going on..did want to travel to Orillia for fabric and a few goodies but nope won't be going unless it clears in the next hour.

I've been complaining so much about my back that while I was in the fabric shop I purchased a 'gypsy' cushion..air filled I think, meant for people who sit sewing, hoping it will help.

Think I'm going to cook a steak tonight and have a hot supper..hungry for home cooking (even my own)

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, now that the flu season is just about gone, I think it is time for you to call your Dr. again, and make that appointment for your headaches!
Sure hope that cushion helps your back!

Congrats to Stacy and ladydragon/Janice...

Betty... got Hubs the same Amaryllis... (kind of a joke because he told me my cannas ate his amaryllis) well maybe party true... When the flower died... we just set near a part sun window... a little green leaf was poking out... I just checked it and still growing. We'll put ours in the ground in the spring... but the ones we have outside stayed green all winter although we had a mild winter.
