Well, all I can say is this was long over due Jaye. Ross was a little different....with new technology he would review, review and review so by the time we would buy something it was obsolete. Repairs were something that was taken care of right away but when it came to buying a new television, record player, etc. well it did drag out...............................

Funny but since his passing, I do research things but I don't procrastinate buy. I think of all the things he would have enjoyed so much and realize I am getting older each year so if reason, I enjoy. Call me selfish!!!

Wonderful news Kathy about the 2 children and new puppy. I would say that was some birthday!!!

Pegi, so hoping you can get through all the red tape.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

It's not an actual fringe tree, LK. The flowers are fringe like and red, not white. These grow into huge bushes and quite unruly. The actual name starts with a P, but for the life of me, I can't remember the name!

No Marion, you're not being selfish. Like you I don't believe in hanging on to things that don't serve it's purpose, when the newer models are much more efficient, unless it's an old Featherweight!
Seems like Kel is just like Ross. He'd google, ask around and yes, would wait on the "next" better model. The cycle continues when the next model arrives. Sometimes, out of necessity, I apply that Nike motto!! Lolol.

Hello Ladies,

I HATE DUCT tape, well at least the ugly silver color. My mom duct tapes EVERYTHING!!!!!!!!!! and I have noticed lately so does Doug omg!!! They do have some pretty printed duct tape now.

Well I've got the house pretty much put together, just need a few odds and ends. I need stuff to decorate guest bathroom with, need rugs for bathrooms.

Was at Winco and picked up boxes of bulbs for $1.98, Coneflower (Pink, only color they had), Stargazer Lily, Spider Lily, Blazing Star (mixed white wnd lavender), Thomas Edison Dinner Plate Dahlia. You can bet I will be going back there often to get as many as I can. My two little yards are going to be NOTHING but FLOWERS!!!!! Yea, baby... I will be working outside this weekend. I took on a house cleaning job (Sheri's house) so gives me some play money for flowers, lol.

Hand therapy is coming along good, yesterday was a bad for some reason. Was unloading, reloading dishwasher, cleaning kitchen and my thumb got to hurting so bad!! it swelled up so much my skin was shiny, ouch so I heated and massage it took a pain pill and it finally subsided.

Not much else going on....................

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

"They do have some pretty printed duct tape now" Cindy!!! LOLOL!!
It still doesn't make it right no matter how pretty the prints are... unless it's quilt blocks!! Lolol!
Don't be in a hurry to use that hand, Cindy. You need it more for your bike than housecleaning!!
You'd love the Thomas Edison.. it is just awesome!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Great find on the bulbs Cindy! Nice to hear your getting your house in order.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone, just thought I would pots an update on Dad.

Dad is doing better, he finally got all his staple's removed, and is allowed to put his shoe on with the brace for his leg. Sis said he is walking better, and can now transfer himself from the wheel chair to the toilet with out assistance, or falling. Still no word on how long he will be in therapy. The Dr. was checking out the toe that was removed, he said that it looks really good, there is nice blood flow to the foot, but the middle toe is looking kind of funky, so they will be keeping an eye on that.

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Good to hear LK!!!

Very cold rain here this morn, body aches, thumb swollen so tight skin is shiny....it is a hot tub of water morning................

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

I finished my ten totes for February this morning. All the fabrics were sent to me by Marion as well as the coloring books and crayons!!! I still have some of her fabrics left as well as some left from Thunder and LInda Kay and Jaye so March is looking good!!! You ladies are the best

Take care of that thumb Cindy!

Barb, those are so cute! The kids will be so happy to get them!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

I'm so glad that your dad's foot is getting good blood circulation, LK.
It's time for his spirits to be up, and that means more sugar free ice-cream treats. God wants him to be around longer!

Wowzer Barb! You, I'm certain, have nailed down this tote making project into a nice assembly line process.
Bless you for making kids happy.

It means staying indoors, Cindy. Don't aggravate that thumb any further.

Got my phone this morning and just in time to answering a call from one of my sisters! We had a nice 2 hr. reunion.
Ha! Guess I won't be destroying this phone!! Lol!

It's supposed to be in the 50s but felt like the 30s. Will be 'spring cleaning' the yard for sure.
Have a better day than yesterday sistahs!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Rain here!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Drizzling here!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Send some of that rain this way please? Notice I said some of, not all!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

It's raining now.. steady and bringing in the cold as well. Hope you get some LK.
Had to stop the garden work, was so enjoying that short stint. Especially when I had company!! Yep the cats.

Cindy, I just caught segment of "the Doctors" on cochlear implant on tv just now. Hope you can do it.
Too amazing how much little hairs in your inner ear can help transmit sound!!

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

Those totes are so pretty, you are going to make many children very happy. Bess you!!!
Got the application for new drug Xtandi ready and took it to case worker. She will get all the other information from medical records and doctor and fax it to them. In the meantime, DH cell phone rang and he was going to shut it off but I answered it and it happened to be a gal from the pharmacy saying the meds were ready. I wasn't going to pick them up cause they wanted over $500. But, apparently another social worker talked to them and the Chronic Disease still had money in "our" fund and only paid $10. Don't know what another month will bring, but we know God is in control. So all the time spent in doctor's offices turned out good today.

My sister-in-law is just getting over the shingles after suffering for months. She said it is so painful and should get the vaccine shot. Didn't know they had one. Well, have to check with the oncologist about that because he is taking chemo drugs and it is a live virus, but I got a shot. I don't need to be down with something while trying to get DH well. Praying shawl is so comforting. I tell everyone about it and alll the work my wonderful Internet sistahs put into it to help comfort all who need hugs and lots of prayer. Everyone get the shingles vaccine.

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Spent the day laying on the bed massaging my hand, but still hurting.
Jaye, I searched for over a year for a cochlear doctor. Finally found one, only to be told "No" because I have Medical, even though Medicare is my primary insurance :(

There have been many ads on tv about shingles. It says that if you've had chicken pox, more than likely you have the shingle virus. My mom was tested and no virus. And yes it is VERY painful. My cousin, she is in her late 30's had the shingles a couple of years ago. She said that no amount of pain pills takes the pain away.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Glad to hear the meds got approved Pegi!

Well, Dad will be transferred to a long term care facility next week. The case worker for Dad called my Sister today, they went in for a conference, and was told that Dad has done all he can as far as therapy, and medicaid will not pay for him to stay where he is, and they will not allow him to go back to my Sisters home as no one can be there with him during the day while they work. He can't walk or go potty by himself, and he needs 24/7 care. She called all over Grand Rapids where she lives, and there are no home available, so they are moving him 30 miles away to a home. Bob, my brother in law, posted on facebook what was going on, to update the family, and my youngest brothers, youngest daughter went off, and told him that we don't care about what happens to him, told us all that we have been lying to him all this time and just went on and on about how no one cares, and how terrible we have been treating him. That made all of us really upset. Bob told her she has no right to say things like that, she has not been around to know all the details, so keep her mouth shut and opinions to herself. So all the family has been upset and crying.
Just wanted to give you update on what is going on!

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

Hugs LK♥♥♥

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Thanks Thunder!

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Oh Linda, I'm so sorry to read that. This younger generation has no concept of family responsibility or tact of any kind. No matter how she felt, it was not her place to hurt others with her opinion. Especially if she did not know the facts of the matter. They don't take the time to find out what is going on before spouting off. The Lord says to forgive them for they know not what they do but sometimes they make that so difficult for us to do. So please let your own heart rest easy knowing you and your sister have done the very best you can for your Dad and that he will be getting the care he needs. And know you can come here anytime as we do understand... Gentle hugs my friend.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Thanks Barb, I have been saying that phrase all night long, but it is so hard to do!
The case worker talked to dad, and they had him talk to a shrink to explain it to him. He does understand the situation, he doesn't like it, but he understands!
What is making this hard, is years ago, before Mom passed away, I promised her I would take care of him, and not let him go to a nursing home, and I feel horrible now that he has to go to one, but at this point, there is not much we can do. I spent a long time on the porch last night taking to Mom, and I know she understands and is OK with this decision. I just wish Ashley understood too! I spent a lot of time praying for her for God to help her understand.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

I'll pray for her too Linda Kay. It sounds like she is acting out of love even though the way she is doing it is wrong. Be strong - we are here.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

I too wholeheartedly agree with Barb.
But, I think the way Ashley acts isn't on account of her immaturity, but being misinformed by some adults, maybe.
It doesn't matter what anyone thinks, cause you and your sister have done all you can for your dad. That's the best thing for your dad with his situation as he needs a full service facility and he'd be getting much more professional care than a regular home.

Leave Ashley to the Lord, He does a better job in opening her mind.

My FIL was told he'd be better off in a nursing home as he'd get round the clock care, daily therapies.. but MIL objected to it too. She wanted to be noticed for taking care of him, yah right.. drama. Sadly it's Kel that suffers and FIL doesn't get his daily therapy.

It rained hard last night. I am not in the mood of more rain, thankfully the sun is up and hoping that I can go out and trim more bushes :D

Have a wonderful Friday sistahs.

stll not 100 % but am able to do a little at a time

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

sorry about dad,lk.
sarah has a date for the valentine dance tonite. she is so excited

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Peggy, I forgot to post these thoughts.
Kel's cousin, who's 44 is suffering from shingles. She's complaining of the pain, and she has a high tolerance for pain.
My BFF also had shingles when she's in her 40s.
I had the chicken pox 50 years ago, don't know whether that will happen to me.

So glad the prayer shawl comforts you and Darwin. This group is indeed such a 'unique' group, and all thanks go to Sistah Judy for her works in getting so many hands together to come to the same wish: Hope.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Cross posted, Sis Kathy!
That's so fast of Sara to fit in her new surroundings!! Awesome!! She'd sure be having so much to tell sis. Loan her your digital camera!

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

It rained today with thunder & lightening. Sure needed the rain, sun came out for a while now I think we will get more rain.

We didn't get approved for the Xtandi from this new place, but the Chronic Disease which helped us for months with Zytiga gave us a few thousand dollars more and this paid for the first month of Xtandi. Odd, seems the chemo drugs all begin with the last letters of alphabet. Well, will be waiting for approval letter. DH had a hard time with the flu, over 3 weeks, but is feeling a lot better now.

Going to have to buy carbon dixoide detectors for the house. Every time I think of them it reminds me of my friends who almost lost their lives because of a faultly furnace that wasn't repaired when it should have been. Just found out they were supposed to be installed in all homes a couple years ago.

I often wonder if my sister-in-law feels the guilt that mom had to go into a nursing home as she said mom told her to promise never to put her in one. Mom lived in a small house behind my brother and SIL was always there if she needed help. But she did need therapy and lots of help we couldn't provide. Mom always was a very forgiving person, more so than any one I know.

about 90% better. but food is still not appetizing to me yet :( everything makes me want to yak.

hope you feel better sue ((((((((((hugs)))))))))))))))

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

A few days ago my Aunt was admitted to the hospital for blood clots. M cousin Dennis has been keeping everyone updated, lol he is quite the story teller...........................

Not sure who knows what so I will begin at the beginning (hea hea). Mom was having pain in her right leg for two or three days. Relda took her in to Kaizer yeasterday (Wednesday) where radiology confirmed a blood clot behind the right knee.

She was admitted to ICU (Roseville) and they set up an infusion of stuff to break up the blood clot hoping to avoid surgery. It did not work. Instead, the clot moved further down the artery and totally blocked the blood supply to the right foot.

Today back to radiolgy which confirmed a total blockage and then into surgery at 11:30 am. She came back to ICU at 2:30 where she remains in a great deal of pain at this time. They opened her leg down low for the clot and up in her groin to borrow tissue for the bypass.

They believe it went very well. They said they do about 3 of these each week and they think mom's is very good. Seems they should know!

As always things can change but what I know now says she will be in ICU for about 48 hours from today at 2:30 then to a ward for 3 to 5 more days. Then she will come live with me for awhile and bask in the radiance of her son's loving care (hea hea).

I will send more if any changes occur.

As always, your good looking, charming, intellectually stimula8ing and generally fun to hang around with........ father, brother, nephew, cousin, father in law, and friend,

Dennis

");
Mom Act 2:
Got there early this am hoping to see the surgeon during his rounds. No luck. We have not been able to see him since she went into surgery yesterday. I think he feels less comfortable with his masculinity when he is near me (hea hea).

Mom seemed very well today and physical therapy actually had her up and sitting in a chair when I came home now. Drucilla and Relda remained there hoping the surgeon (who missed his morning rounds) may make an afternoon round.

That said, the pain medications have made her very hallucinatory. She told me about fire drills gone astray, ambulances being summoned to take patients out of ICU and a myriad of other stories. The only one I found frightening was when she said the democrats wanted to make Nobama a king (couldn't pass it up).

The surgeon may alter things but the best i can put together indicates she will probably be home with us Tuesday.

I will send more when things develop.

The same guy previously described in detail,

Dennis

PS: I wonder if Drucilla knows "spelling check" flags her and recommends "Dracula". Relda can't laugh because she is "reload".

");
Mom Act 3:
You know HMO's!!!! They moved Mom out of ICU today. It appears 24 hours is the limit if you don't have an open fracture or have not received a heart transplant.

She is now in Room #3119 and her phone # 916-474-8139.

The original 2-3 days ICU and 3-5 ward seem to have gone out the window and, who knows, she could be home before dinner. I heard they are short on wheelchairs and are waiting to see if she can crawl to the bus stop. (just kidding, will kinda)

Any who wish can call when they want but she sleeps a lot and may talk about fire drills and ambulances. That's ok, we Davis' often communicate in languages not familiar to the common person. It began with Mel after a bottle of wine and has trickled down.

Relda, Drucala ooops.... I mean Drucilla or I should be there during normal hours and if you call then we will make sure you can speak to her.

As originally described perfectly

dennis

Jaye, thanks for the links, that helps a lot. The one I posted I saw on Facebook, as is, I don't think there was a case, no attachments! I will keep looking.

Cindy, your luck to have two of them to use! I have heard they are great sewing machines?

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Sending you positive vibes Sue, and remember, don't hide... come on down and express yourself whatever's in your mind. We'll help you during your dark days too.
Psst... hug the pc/monitor.. feel that physical contact? That's us hugging you our sistah.

LK, those early Featherweights, I'm told, make perfect 1/4" seams.
