#Sweet Interruptions# 253

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Wonderful news about Dad Linda Kay. I'm going to continue to keep him in my prayers.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

With all those balls around, you can tell that you keep them happy, Cindy!

Morning sistahs. Blessed Sunday I wish for all.
I have a special request, especially to my quilting sistahs.
Should you have any old quilt mags. you wished to get rid of, can you send them to me?
All for a good cause.
The quilt interest has been growing in South East Asia, since I left, especially in Malaysia and Indonesia for the past few years.
They depend on very expensive books, and there are no locally published periodicals.
If you could, I will very much appreciate the help. Please sought out "Media Mail" with USPS. It's a cheaper postal rate, and I'm not worried over how long it will get to me.

In the late 70s, I was the only local student, in a quilting class, held by a Swede. Can't persuade other friends to take an interest as it's too hot for quilts in the tropics!!

As for fabrics, these Malaysians and Indonesians are very fortunate as they have access to ethnic batiks that I grew up with....waxed printed geometric and floral batiks which originate in the Malay archipelago. Very affordable, and plenty of 100% cotton prints too.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Jaye, I have a box full, probably two or three, I will send you some.

Morning everyone!

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

I will check postage rates and if affordable for me right now, I'll try to send some too!!!
Don't mean to sound cheap but Norm's medical bills from the last year are astronomical!!! Chipping away at them...

Thank you sistahs!

flat rate boxes are the best best ?? don't they have international flate rate boxes Jaye ? i know my friends sends stuff to Africa
still working on my first cup of java
bbl

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I wish they had international flat rates? All boxes sent out of the US cost at least double the price as what it cost us flate rate here.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Hmmm.. good thoughts there sistahs.
International Priority Flat Rate, I know is available for Canada.
But when I ship flat rate boxes.. to France and Singapore, only the Express Flat Rate which is very expensive is available.

I'll just be mailing the mags the cheapest way.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all,

Lazy kind of day here..so beautiful outside, cold enough to make the snow glitter like diamonds! Bet you southerners are saying 'keep it' lol

Is pretty though..

Had one heck of a headache, took some meds and it seems to be subsiding.

So hard to part with quilting books, from time to time love climbing in bed, barely a spot for me as it's covered with quilting books and I just ohhh and ahhh at all the pieces picking a few that I know I shall never get the chance to do.

You girls, doing the eye candy 'watching' lol

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

I found the courage to do part with some books, Betty. But these are mailed out in the States. I got books from the 70s!! Can't part with these!
It's magazines that I'd like to send out to quilters in Malaysia and Indonesia.
Quilting books will be too heavy, and too few to share.
Even their libraries aren't stocked with books of such.

Hope the meds work for your headache, girl. I had migraines yesterday caused by Kel!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

lol poor Kel..he sure does take abuse lol kidding of course!

Yes, headache all but gone, started to sew borders on a quilt I'm doing then when I get the urge, will quilt.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Betty, Kel suffers from PMS (Psychotic Mood Shift)!! LOL!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Well add me to the group sending magazines. I have a feeling that might be some duplicates coming in but then I am sure you know what to do with those. Glad to hear there is a way to reuse them as I had so much to put them in recycle.

Anyone else want some sent to them as I have boxes!!!

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

Marion do you by any chance have the last 2 or 3 McCalls. The one Betty is doing the quilt from? ?
I get them Digital. I did not realize that when a new one comes out, you no longer can look at past issues! !

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Yes, I do have it Thunder. Would you like me to sent it to you as I am finished with it?

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Thank you Marion!!!

not much going on here
just the usual stuff

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

yes please, if you have the last few, I would love to check them out again....and would be glad to reimburse you for postage!! last 3-4 ^_^

not so sure I will re-new as digital subscription....I have a few others that way, and always have access to past issues. I guess with this one you have to download to your computer, in order to be able to see it again.
And have to down load their program !! to be able to do that !!! I am not too happy about it !!! I mean I am paying for it !! right?!!!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Jaye, you are more than welcome.....you know that.

Thunder, I will get them together and in the mail in the next few days. I drove some for the first time Friday and I need to rest my knee again. It is progress and for that I am thankful. The exercises are no fun but if it avoids surgery,.........being 'em on!!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone! Fresh hot coffee is ready with hot toaster strudels!

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Still got some of that coffee left Linda? It is that kind of a day. Waiting for it to start snowing here. Not supposed to get too much though.
Cutting out more totes from the wonderful fabrics that Maid M sent to me. The kids are going to love these!!! She was so sweet to include the coloring books and crayons in a box she sent. I love you dear friend and appreciate your help. I am keeping a list of all of you who have sent fabrics for these and will turn it in to the hospital the next time I am up there. I'm hoping they will acknowledge you with a letter.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I have lots of coffee Barb, help yourself! I have made two baby blankets, and am working on two Quilt Of Valor quilts for a friend on Facebook, then I will make more of these totes!

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

i m just awed by all your kindness.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Kathy, when are you moving? Is it in the same town?

Sue, glad to hear your gifts arrived!

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

when we get the money out of our 401k. it will be awhile, because of inspections, and the closing is feb. 25. yes same town, but farther away from people. in the woods more

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

More secluded is always nice!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Barb, I'm sure I have more than enough magazines to send overseas. Don't you worry too much.

Knowing Marion and LK, plus my old mags.. there will be a lot of happy quilters overseas!

Thunder, I don't know that about digital subscription. Not that I have one. That's truly bum. Once you paid for the mags, they should be made available always.

Happy for you and Michael Sis Kathy!! It is always better not to pay rent. Your own not so little house! Bet you're excited that you can now have a garden without fear of uprooting them!

Sue, that box was way overdue.
Couldn't get my mojo going, and I'm so heavy laden with guilt, that it took this long.
Amazing how strangers from 2 buildings, can come together to express their support for you.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Pegi (Samigal) has received the prayer shawl.
She posted this "next door".
"I received the prayer shawl in the mail Saturday from Jaye. I felt so emotional when I opened the box. I'm sure all the loving hands will help along with all prayers."

We sure want Darwin and her to find solace in that shawl.

I don't think any other shawl in the world has as much extrodinary energy mojo then that one. It is surely a wonderful companion from beloved sistah's.
ok here are the pics
Jaye don't worry about the lateness of it all. It is sure what i needed . I can't believe it has almost been 1 yr.

I can't wait for the my turn for the sistah gathering as the basement will be perfect for us to all gather and have a good time.

OMG where was I the entire month of Jan.?? I know someone posts every day but I wasn't getting any notice. Hope I got this fixed now.

All the interesting news I've missed. Cindy moving into a new place and it looks great. Good news on medical issues and DH will get better soon with the prayer shawl. (I'm planning on it anyway)

Have decided, after taking Mandy to vet to scheduled surgery, that she is chi/corgi mix. Had a hard time getting her into the vet, they must all know what they are going in for. Feb. 5th I'll take her in at 9 AM and will pick her up around 4 or 4:30. Not a cheap one, but I know it will all work out. He is a lot cheaper than the VCA hospital, but still way too much as far as I'm concerned.

In the 90's DH bought me a Sony CD player called discman with speakers and after all these years I decided to start using it again. There was a CD in it entitled Bless This House and first song was "How Great Thou Art". I get emotional when I hear this and I discovered it at the right time for us. Why I never took it out to listen to it in all these years we've lived here I'll never know. As you can tell, I never get rid of things that is why I am a hoarder. Even found the dog eared manual I got with it. Now if only I can find some other things I'm missing. LOL

that might come in handy if you ever go on Antique Roadshow :)
hope the puppy gets fixed up good and starts recovery.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Pegi, the Lord is always there for you. We'll keep on praying for Darwin and you of course. It's never easy to be the caregiver.
By the way.. Elvis is still my favorite singer for "How Great Thou Art"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-_jeZfFd3d8

I'd be good for the Antique Roadshow Sue!!! Lolol!! Kel loves that show.
Love how you described the prayer shawl. Yep, it got good mojo for sure!
You know, that's what our brother Ric had said.. most probably you'd hang them up!
Okay.. we'd be assigned to the basement for the reunion? As long as I don't have to climb stairs!!!

A new day tomorrow. Kel is alive so that means, I'm getting better!! Lolol!!
I'm gonna try to emulate harder working sistahs here starting tomorrow after a good night's sleep!!!

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

That turned out beautiful, thanks for the pictures to share. May you always feel the love it was crafted with.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Hey Pat, how are you doing?

Jaye, your sewing skills are wonderful! Love the quilts, and pillow cases. Nice job ladies, putting them together.

kids couldn't wait to sleep with their new pillow cases. I had just got a new bed sheet set and the brown pillow case excat match ! i love earth tones .

well not much going on here today
Pegi sending prayers for you and Darwin today and always.
today is a windy day ! wow . warm in the 60's but windy and will rain.
so can't do much today outside.
can't get my lazy butt to the gym either. uhg. my classes that i loved got canceled :( so i have no motivation to go. The other classes have replaced them but they are pretty advanced . i can do the yoga. i may try the zumba ?

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Good Morning Ladies,

LK, good to hear about your dad. My dad has been gone 15 years, and I miss him very much. We were close, could talk to him about anything and he never judged me. My mom she is a different story........................

The quilt and pillow cases are pretty. Was at my mom's yesterday gathering stuff to bring to new house. Came across my purple and green fabrics for making my quilt, I'm anxious to get on it but I have so much to do here. The house is still disorderly. Doug has been sick (AGAIN,ugh) and I have no one to help me. There are still some things in other house, (mostly Doug's). So between trying to put this house together and get that one emptied I have no time to myself. Dogs want to got out evry few minutes ( I'd leave them out but it's been to dang cold).

I'm anxious to get my kitchen done, I've missed my Apples, lol.

Kathy, congrats on the house...just think this will be your last move because you will be a home owner. Will you be doing Apples in your new kitchen? I remeber seeing pix from way back in 2008, when Bj, Cookie, hmmmm can't remember who were all at your house and noticed your Apples.

Sue, zumba is fun and a great workout. When Curves was open we had zumba on Mondays & Wednesdays. I loved it!!! As soon as I get my room all put together I am going to start doing zumba. I need it badly. Although I have lost 6 pounds somewhere, lol

Pegi, warm thoughts and prayers for your dear hubby.

Time to get busy, no rest for the wicked..................................

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Am so honored that Pat drop in!!! See my wave, Pat?
You're one of the pros on the sewing forum..what an honor!

Sue, Savannah must be having wonderful dreams on her new pillowcase! You'd find ideas for that material. How about the panel? That would be an easy project.
Me too would recommend Zumba, since you're physically able. My sister does Zumba weekly and that's how she maintained her shape.

Cindy, Kathy would be doing pink elephants in her new kitchen!! LOLOLOL!
Can't help myself. She's an ALabama fan and that's their mascot!
Sorry to read of Doug's illness. Hope he'd recover FAST for your sake.

Definitely a new chapter for me today.. doing something very unusual in winter.
Got a whole bucket of irises to be laid on the ground. That will be a big undertaking. Church sister got rid of all her irises, and of course, stupid me told her I want them.
After this.. off to sewing and cutting and sewing..
Can't compete with Barb, Betty nor LK when it comes to being diligent, but I can start sometime! Lol!!!
