And this one came from a... Oh crap, I don't like that piano key border, now what do I do? So I cut all the fabric, and put them together, now I need to make another border for the lap quilt.

You've been busy! Some lucky babies will enjoy those quilts.
I like that Asian lap quilt. Soft colors there.
Very good job, LK.

Spent an hour outside, enjoying the spring like warmth.
The hand truck wheels won't turn, too lazy to get some WD40 from his shop, and had to transport 3 bags of top soil in a little cart. Out of shape.. so out of breath!!
Have more to do. Really pushing myself to get one item crossed off the to do list today!

those are so pretty Lk wow you have been busy
Jaye i think Iris are the only thing i can grow in my back beds. the beds just don't drain and hold water :( don't know what i will do this spring with them.
taking a break
got some grocery for Savannah. She is such a picky eater , she is getting scary thin. IMHO. she made a comment yesterday about her friend she said " she is fat . well my gosh the kids isn't near fat ! just normal weight . sooooo. i got some high nutrition drinks made for kids.
made mash potato's but honestly i just can't seem to make it good ? i think its the potato's ??? no meat to them , does that make sense ?
guess this year i will grow my own.
so i hope i can get her eating some things.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Sue, I have a friend whose daughter was a very finicky eater.
She was checked by the doctor. Doctor said she's fine, and surprisingly healthy.
Some kids are like that. But it is scary when Savannah made that remark, apparently she had heard too many despairing remarks about fat kids. If that is so, you would have to a heart to heart talk to her about how necessary it is to eat and live.

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

have a court date monday in west virginia. keep your fingers crossed that we will bring the kids back home with us.
cindy, apples? don't know, i'm thinking something blue, or the bam colors

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Linda, that "duckie" fabric and the black/pink combo in your "recycled piano keys" are soooo beautiful!!! I LOVE black & pink combo's and lately I have developed a thing for primary colors. I have Dr. Seuss fabric bought for a baby blanket for a co-worker. BUT first, we need to finish the remodeling in the studio. I was up until 10.30 last night painting so DH could put up molding.... then got called out on an emergency early this morning. Certainly not much rest for me!! LOL

I am so NOT a pro on the quilting forum... I'm still more of a block collector than quilter. Maybe this will be the year that I FINISH my quilts!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Thanks everyone! Pat, you can do the quilting, just put it together one block at a time, and before you know it, you have a quilt done!
So far it is just a top, I need to find a backing for it, and then put it together! trying to decide if it needs a border, or just put it together as is? I posted it on the sewing thread for opinions!

Savannah loved the homemade mash potato's ! hallejua
dinner was rice, potato's and some gravy. Its not what would call the most healthiest dinner but if i can get her off the pre made things . I need to find a soup she will eat. wish me luck on that one .
she does eat banana's. and apples so i m happy there.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Oh Sis Kathy, Bam colors.. purple and gold right? Wishing you good luck at the hearing. I know the kids will have the best home with you and Michael.

That's how it goes Pat. Plans have feet on their own. Bet you can't wait for the studio to finish.

Ahhh... I am too a block collector. One day, I'll just do a scrappy one, put the orphans together.
LK, send me some of your will!

Sue, try this simple dessert for Savannah, since she loves bananas. Microwave cut up banana, add a tbsp butter and pour maple syrup or honey.
It's so eaaasy and even big kid Kel loves it.
How about pizza soup? Tomato soup that is with pizza toppings that she likes?

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Yum! sounds good! I make a lasagna soup so I'll bet I would love pizza soup!

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

all the tornados have past. we got torrential rain. the yard is under water, and the schools are opening 3 hours late.
thanks for all the well wishes on our hearing. wish it was over. just think, i get to spend my birthday in court. yippee!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

When you win, that will be an extra cause to celebrate!
Hope you don't have a lot of damage from the tornado!

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

no damage just water everywhere. the rosd up to my barn is washed out, so gotta use the ranger to get up there. grandson has strep throat again, fever of 101.4. he is driving me nuts.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Sue, I have a GD who is a picky eater....mac and cheese, cheese and mac, and then for dessert...the same! Comes by it honestly though.
Pizza soup sounds good..recipe? Don't feel bad about your dinner..I was talking with my sister yesterday and she said mom wanted biscuit and sausage gravy. The more I thought about that, the more I wanted some. Made a pan of homemade biscuits and yeap, had the sausage gravy. :-( Tonight we will be having a meal complete with veggie.:-)

Kathy, sending you best wishes with the court date and an early birthday wish. You and my mom share the same birthday! Glad to hear you are okay following that weather. It is really dark here and looks like it could start raining any moment. Suppose to move in later today

Be safe all.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Armhugs right back attcha Judy!! Exercises hurt but surgery hurts more. :-) Yes, I am doing them and using the meds (topical) on the knee.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Good afternoon sistahs.

LK, I forgot to render my opinion on your quilt.
Me think you don't need to add a huge border, a simple narrow one will do, with one complementing color maybe? I hate to say this.. but "p" will be perfect since it is used so little in the main quilt. :D
Is your dad's spirits still where it should be? May he heal fast.

Goodness Betty, I'd love to see pics of your placemats. You're just a great time manager! By Spring, you'd be finished with them, and off to start a RWB project!
I sure don't want your temps, Betty. It's not that bad here, but the same cough cough sneeze sneeze going around too.
One minute it's nice and spring-like then dip into the low 20s.

At this time of the year, last year, I remember Barb faced serious snow storms. Pictures were enough to scare me!

Looks like we'll be getting Sis Kathy's rains later this afternoon.
Sis Kathy, I'm glad that you didn't get any serious damage to give you more reasons to dread your court date.
Guess what? Me too am having terrible headaches last night and today, because of a spider bite. Smack dab in the middle of my forehead!! Didn't realise a simple bite would cause headaches besides the pain on the site.
Kel said it's not true, until I showed him your post. So, today, I'm staying indoors!!

((((((Sue))))))) You're too young for PMS!!! Hope you'll get to feeling better soon. Go ahead, find your favorite broom and act wild! Lolol.
Who's the one who told me that men are good for somethings sometimes.. yep, this is the time to take that funk out on Tim! Anyway you could get relief without ending in prison!!

Marion, so doctors gave you some kind of liniment? Less pills to swallow! I'm sure Kim watches you like a hawk when she could. You might have to tie a red bandana around your knee, sometimes with age, one tends to forget what one is supposed NOT to do.
Here's my pizza soup recipe for you. I only use low sodium tomato soup. Cook the hamburger meat, microwave pepperonis to crisp them.. sautee mushroom and onions. Diced jalapenos. When ready to eat, sprinkle desired toppings onto soup. Add cheese and watch Kel thinks he's going to heaven. There's the more extensive version, but I like the easy way!

Sistah Judy WOOOOOHOOOOOO!!! Always good to read you girl!! Take your time, no hurry to have those books back. Last I checked, no new book put out yet. "Comes a Green Sky" is next... maybe in March.. I hope.
Aww.. you don't have to send me anything. I got it all covered.
Lolol.. hoarding plants!! Bad enough we hoard fabric!! Just 3 irises left to find spots for. Had to take long breaks, I'm so out of shape. But happy to be reunited with the garden implements! I wish my faithful garden furry friends instead of watching me, could help too!

Lasagna soup, Pat?? So, does that mean you use ricotta cheese in the soup?
Interesting!

Pat, in case you're wondering, Sis Judy had created a shawl with so many sistahs' hands for a wonderful surprise gift.
I see it fit to turn it into a communal prayer shawl. That shawl has made its' way to 3 sistahs that could use some comfort, and of course to take our place.
Now it's with Pegi.
That's me when I got that shawl last year. I no longer look like that half crazed person. A big Amen!!
In that picture, I was at my lowest, and that shawl came just in time to lift me up from the dregs of darkness. It was that bad, Pat. I pray no one goes through my "black" periods.
These sistahs' love rescued me. Again sistahs, thank you for not giving up on me.
Oh yah, we are sistahs here. This is another place we can be ourselves without fear of judgement.

Oh Marion, I found this version of Pizza soup online.

Pizza Soup
1 pound ground beef
2 cans (26 ounces each) condensed tomato soup, undiluted
6-1/2 cups water
3-1/2 cups spaghetti sauce
1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
2 cups (8 ounces) shredded cheddar cheese
Additional shredded cheddar cheese, optional
Directions
In a Dutch oven, cook beef over medium heat until no longer pink; drain. Add the soup, water, spaghetti sauce and Italian seasoning; bring to a boil.
Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered, for 15 minutes. Add cheese; cook and stir until melted. Garnish with additional cheese if desired. Yield: 16 servings (4 quarts).

Make Quick Pizza Soup a complete satisfying meal by serving it with grilled cheese or sub sandwiches.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Wow, that recipe looks great. Will definitely have to give it a try.

No red bandana....I am behaving...well trying to atleast. Yes, a liniment that is applied 3 times daily to the knee. Seems to be helping.
We are suppose to get some of that weather also! Not looking forward to it but the rain I will take.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

If CB loves mac and cheese, maybe she might enjoy a good cheeseburger soup, Marion.

Still growing Kel loves it. I do the easy way.. yep.. cans of cheese soup.. add meat and a pack of instant mash potatoes to thicken it. Voila..

But here's a recipe for serious grown ups!

Ingredients
•1/2 pound ground beef
•3/4 cup chopped onion
•3/4 cup shredded carrots
•3/4 cup diced celery
•1 teaspoon dried basil
•1 teaspoon dried parsley flakes
•4 tablespoons butter, divided
•3 cups chicken broth
•4 cups diced peeled potatoes (1-3/4 pounds)
•1/4 cup all-purpose flour
•2 cups (8 ounces) process cheese (Velveeta), cubed
•1-1/2 cups milk
•3/4 teaspoon salt
•1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon pepper
•1/4 cup Daisy Brand Sour Cream

Directions
•In a 3-qt. saucepan, brown beef; drain and set aside. In the same saucepan, saute the onion, carrots, celery, basil and parsley in 1 tablespoon butter until vegetables are tender, about 10 minutes. Add the broth, potatoes and beef; bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 10-12 minutes or until potatoes are tender.
• Meanwhile, in a small skillet, melt remaining butter. Add flour; cook and stir for 3-5 minutes or until bubbly. Add to soup; bring to a boil. Cook and stir for 2 minutes. Reduce heat to low. Stir in the cheese, milk, salt and pepper; cook and stir until cheese melts. Remove from the heat; blend in sour cream. Yield: 8 servings (2-1/4 quarts).

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

jaye, my bite is on my butt, and still hurts and my head is still pounding. so tell kel to put that in his juice box and suck it!LOL

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Kathy was it a brown recluse spider? if so, you need to go to the Dr for treatment if you haven't already, as it will only get worse!
Judy, you need to slow down and smell some roses girl!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Lolol.... I'll tell him for sure Sis!!!

LK, I don't know whether mine was from a brown recluse spider. Wasn't aware of the bite till it swells up last night.

Owww.. ever had one of those sneezes that would cramp your tummy? Just did.. it's a pain for sure.

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

been to the dr 2 times. 2 different antibiotics. phenergan for the nausea, and tramadol for pain. i go the dr. again tomorrow, to have it checked and because the blood they drew monday says my glucose is elevated. it might have been a recluse. it was on the ceiling and i took a broom to it. apparently i just knocked it down and i sat on it. i knew imediately because it got a big bubble and hurt like the dickens. they didn't have to lance it because it bubbled and drained on its own

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Oh dear..sis. Mine's a small pimple like bump. I put antibiotic cream on it.
This is what I found on brown recluse.
http://www.webmd.com/a-to-z-guides/brown-recluse-spider-bite

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

well, i got some of the symptoms. it itched for awhile

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I had a friend years ago, that got bit by one, she kept complaining that the sore was getting bigger and bigger, but did not want to go see the Dr. It finally got so bad, and she went to the Dr., but they had to amputate her leg, as the infection was so bad!
So don't take those spider bites lightly, they can do a lot of harm!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

That's bad news!
If it gets any worse, I'll see the doctor.
Sure don't want a lobotomy!

take care of that bite
my bean dish came out awesome !
put it on my brown rice and its rocking
i m enjoying the vegan foods i m making.
Around here food is just not to my taste. Home cooking is fine but i can't eat like that every day .
i watched a Lisa Ling Documentary about obesity and it was sad. a 4 yr old boy with sleep apnea ! and 94 lbs
a 12 yr old girl over 300 lbs.
well i guess if i lived in Mississippi and southern states i would be too. Soul food is my fav and is cajun cuisine. BBQ too. oh food in the states is too good.
i guess it would be hard to be vegan in Kansas City MO . with all them BBQ's oh Lawdy Lawdy .... don't think i could do it. no sir ree.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Asking for prayers for Dylan please. They took him to the ER yesterday, as he has a tummy bug, so they thought, come to find out he has what the are calling c-diff.
It can be a serious problem if not taken care of. They spent the night in the little cubicle in the ER, and will do so again tonight. They can't put them in a regular room and take chances to infect the other kids, so they have to stay secluded in the ER cubicle. No one is getting much sleep. They are praying for a private room to open.

Oh my Betty!! I am all smiles with that video! That is such a delight to watch hummingbird twirling in air like that to catch a bug! The bat with the cactus flower!! Such beauty in mass migration of monarch butterflies.... i don't care for bees, but that video drew some respect from me. Yes, we need them for the survival of plant food.
Thank you Betty.. thank you.
Beautiful placemats too Betty! Great job!

Sue, do you know that I was a vegetarian for years, back in Louisiana before I started working.

It was so easy to be one when there are big grocery stores, like the Superstore and of course, easy access to Chinese, Lebanese and Indian grocery stores. So many different varieties of fruits and veges (FRESH) to support a vegetarian diet.
I wasn't limited to boring meals. I even can get fresh tempeh.
Then there are restaurants that offer non-meat meals. Not the usual salads, but real home cooked, spicy meatless dishes!
It was hard to maintain my metabolism when I started working in the factory. Having to be on my feet constantly, I needed a regular supply of energy yielding food, especially when meat protein wasn't in my diet.
Lots of time, being too busy, I tend to forget that I need to 'graze' often.
Then it became difficult when I don't have the time to prepare my own food, but relied on the few boxed brands, like "Amy's". For real, the choice is so limited, unlike Lean Cuisine.
So, instead of only cooking for meat eating ex hubby.. I decided to throw in the towel, too scared to faint again at work.

Now since I'm not working, I could return to being a vegetarian, but there's nothing tempting for me on the grocery shelf, nor in the produce section. No ethnic stores neither.
I don't have any problems with my health when I was a vegetarian.
Good for you if you could stick to it. Much more healthier of course.
But beware of overdoing it with fruits and juices. You'd be overworking your pancreas, trying to metabolize those fructose.
Right now, I'm depending on Lean Cuisine's help. It will be wonderful when I don't have to cook separate dishes for Kel.

LK, my heart drops when you wrote that of Dylan. I will be praying for him and mama and papa too. Sincerely hoping that the bug can be stopped and that they can get a private room soon.

Loved that video Betty, awesome pictures and video!

Thanks Jaye!

LK, saying prayers for Dylan. That was not what I wanted to be reading tonight!!

Kathy, Kim was bitten by a brown recluse many years ago and yes, you do need to see a doctor again. You could actually watch the hole grown where it has bitten her. Left a nasty scare but thankfully it is not where anyone will see it. Started as a little watery blister and thankfully the doctor who saw her said it looked like a spider bite. I can't remember exactly what he gave her but it was not a fun thing to deal with. Take care and have the place checked again!!!!!!
