Best/Worse/What did I learn today? Visit with friends!

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Katie, glad you are feeling a bit better. Take good care and be kind to yourself.

Good thoughts to all you "snow birds"....be safe and stay inside as much as possible.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

I lost everyone with the change....duh! Wow, my heart is breaking after reading all the things people are dealing with at this time. Sending huge hugs and prayers for all.

Unbelievable about Scotty. Do know a little about situations like this as my step dad's son tried to take everything from my mom when his dad dies. Funny thing.......it was her home and property, he never owned any of it. He even tired to get her pension from his retirement but nope....didn't work. Hang in there Bev. I know how hard this can be on you.

Ah, nice warm, bright sunshine today. You can definitely keep the snow but do be safe!!!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Wow, sounds like a doozy of a storm up North!
Think I will keep my temps here...

Verona, ON

It is a doozy LK I can't see across the lake for the snow falling. All 4 of my critters are napping .... I thihnk I might join them.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

If you can't beat em, join em! Sweet dreams!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Wondered where you were Marion..are you behaving and improving with every new day?
How is your mom?? Seeing you are at this time unable to visit are you able to speak with her?

LindaKay, you are a tease...

Dianne, storm seems to be moving fast, no signs of snow or rain at the moment..you might be lucky and get to go walking by evening.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

I have been here but for some reason missed the switch. I am behaving and even doing my daily exercises for my knee. Hurts but if it will avoid surgery...I do it.

Mom is about the same but not happy with the "lock down" that is at the nursing home because of the flu they have there. It is only for her benefit! She is more upset as next Monday she will turn 94 and visitors are being discouraged! I still am limited with my driving so I won't be able to go down for her birthday. No, can't talk with her....she can't hold the phone and speaks so softly now that it is hard to hear or understand her.

Please everyone getting this rough weather, take care and be safe.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Jean - "snowbirds" are those from "up north" who go south for the winter.
My cousin and Mom used to go to Florida, from Winnipeg, every January. My cousin passed away, and Mom broke her hip not long afterwards. So my Mom stays safely indoors during inclement weather.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all..

Been a long night, just couldn't sleep...at about 2:30am decided to get up..maybe hot bath would put me asleep, nope, no go!

Been downstairs sewing bindings on placemats, got to have something to sew to keep me awake today.

Got one load of wash..garbage day today so will get the fridge cleaned out and see what other mischief I can get into..

Had transferred the phones as they called for possible freezing rain this a.m. But too mild for that

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sure hope you went back to sleep Betty?
How is your weather today?

Victoria Harbour, ON

nope, did 2 loads of wash, cleaned the refrigerator, cut some 5" squares and did placement for twister basket, did binding on another set of placemats so I can hand sew and then it was time to leave..
Sitting here sewing bindings to keep me awake..am sure I'll be nodding off between bingo numbers tonight..lol

Mild out -1

Lyndonville, NY

Betty, it is 34 here and heading UP today. But just looked at weather map and huge hot pink over you (ice).....be careful.

Victoria Harbour, ON

yikes, that is exactly where it is..best I check my local weather.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Sharon (sister) just msn'd me, said it's freezing rain there.
heading I think more Thea and Dianne's neck of the woods..so glad Jeff got home from skiing in Quebec.
Will call Greg, think he and my brother Mike were travelling home today..always feel better when my boys are safe and sound and at home.

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

I guess the proper term would have been "snowbound" or "wishing to be a snowbird"

Be careful all of you having such cold and inclement weather...

Verona, ON

Snowed all night. Diesel and I just went for a wallk and it is beautiful out. Snow is very pretty on the trees.
Rain and freezing rain forecasted for the rest of the day Ugh!

Once again we should have lived closer Betty, we could have had a cup a tea. I wanted some scone but didn't want to make some as I would have eaten them all myself. Have no control when it comes to scones.

How is Ann's DN Betty, did you hear any news?

Enjoy your day everyone!
Dianne

Bev!! So very glad you came in too. My heart and prayers have been going up for this last bit of news.

As you say they know not what they are doing!! Good for you and I am praying very had, Things turn around for the better and Scotty catches on to their game, how awful this is going on...You are one Strong brave woman Bev for all that you've endured and i hope and Pray for that strength to prevail. Holding you in tight Armwaps and lots of prayers.

Linda Kay, woah, I was really worried along with you and everyone, keeping prayers going daily for Dad. I am so glad the Doc was the one to set it straight on the line for him! Now come on DAD, you can do it!!
I was so glad to hear he turned around and I hope he is working hard to go home to Kathy's! Is he doing better??

Betty, I hope that Noah see's the way is not a good road to travel. Kids today sure have a rough path to hurdle over, But he has a good strong loving family to steer him in the right direction. I pray you all have the patience, love to get through this,. Sending you lots of prayers and also for Anne's nephew.
Oh my gosh, you received some gorgeous Rocks!!

Ah Thunder, was so nice you sent us some sunshine, your Passion flower? are just stunning and it was a wonderful smile to see such beauty...Awe how wonderful Melana will have a little monster, I mean sister, lol What an adorable story, will be fun to reminisce that when the girls are older!! Also a Beautiful name, enjoyed reading.
Now when is Baby due?

Waving hi to Susan and Mary!! Geesh you two must be busy, haven;t seen you pop in for a few days!!
Susan was sorry to hear of the job not going through, maybe a better one is in the horizon! But i hope you and Bob are doing well.

Mary!! what you been up to? Hope all is well.

OK...So Moonie and Mary, lol our thread M&M, hehe. Anyway guess what? It seems to be a go, our trip to LA at the end of March! Will be spring break for Breenie and Jacob, and we are still hoping Julia can get the week off as well. But, as it stands at the moment, We will be renting a place near the French Quarter, Think it's on Commercial Street?? We are pretty excited about that!! Will know more info, soon.

Marion, Well, I sure hope your knee gets better with the exercise and you won't need surgery! glad you are being good. Keeping up the prayers for Mom. I know this must be pretty hard for you not to be able to talk or see her for her Birthday...

Sending you a wink and Hiya Debbie!! How are you doing? I think you all out that way are getting hit with such weird weather! And i pray all of stay warm and safe!

This is just insane!! We have had Thunder Storms, lightening and all!!! I never in a million years thougt we would have such climate in Illinois!!! Today it is to be 67* But it is raining and wind picks up. Then it is going to drop to a whopping 1*. Shaking my head with some gratitude for it, We NEED the rain or snow.

OMG, Katie, yikes was sorry you were bitten by a scorpion!! I am glad to hear the pain is subsiding.
So glad you are taking the time to rest and heal.

I've been in a "low" but I think it's due to crazy weather, and my honey is driving me bonkers!! Half the time, im not sure which way i should go...But, one day at a time one step, "Sh" will get done, I can only do so much! of course we had words about some things and I just lost it!! I've done all that he has talked about, while is is out working I work from the minute I get up to the minute i go to bed, including all the running i do, which includes taking HIS mom to the appointments, not to mention keep this house running...Seems my priorities are not on the same level and he seems to think i've lost some of my "spunk" only his word was the B word!! Excuse me.
I think He has his priorities in the wrong place!! Now that he's been home, This entire place is in an uproar, instead of one room We've got Three that "he's" working on and i am just here to clean up the forever going messes...Then he is moaning over how his mom says she is not on the priority list...I said if anyone is on the back burner its me, so i don't even want to hear about that complaint!!

OK so now my mood has just got worse, no weeds to pull, so i got to go and Cut out the ceiling and walls in the new office...Then move right along to Harport, I just knew I'ld end up doing it! And Yep, i will be "b"ing the whole time. all I know is this house better Be done by Friday. Bahamama party this weekend, which He has moved up and now it's scramble time! The only thing keeping me going...My Family is coming!! OMG, I am just estatic with that!! Thanks for Listening...off to start only to stop in half hour, come back and start again but then i have the rest of the day to work, sigh...what else is new?

So I do read, sometimes very late... My prayers and good Spirits are with you all!!
Stay Warm, Safe and Dry!!
Big Armwraps to all...Pretty soon Dianne, I can enjoy a cozy fire with you.

Waiving to Barbara and Norm...I just love all that you are all doing in the Sewing Rooms!!!

ok reall7y got to go now!

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Victoria Harbour, ON

ahhh, lucky you, my favorite place, and to think the kids will go with you..drats..I'll not be going until first week in August then on to Branson MO..sure wish we were there at same time..you will so love it..have you been before? Judy you always have so much fun organizing and having the Bahamama party..it's all the pressure you've had over the past months, am sure it's hitting home..maybe you can make yourself a schedule..start time/finish time on each project you do..I'd even include when I have to go to the washroom..when he asks for you to do more, get him to slate it in..men!!!

Jean, it will be wonderful for you to have the family visiting..when is the last time you've seen them..know you skype all the time but just not the same..how long will they be visiting?

Dianne, just called Ann, Toby is not doing well, think he's in a depression.

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

They will arrive Good Friday and leave on the 25th of April...almost a month. Last time I got to hug the babies was July of 2010...DH got to spend 3 weeks with them last February....

Continued thoughts and prayers for Ann and Toby and all the others needing them.

Victoria Harbour, ON

It will surely be a memory making visit..bet you are just sooo excited..know they are excited to see grandma and grandpa but what kinds of things will they want to do or go see? They are at such a wonderful age...

Went to pick up pizza for lunch and that Olio Pro Smart i-touch iron (no can't make calls on it, lol) on the way back I could barely see a foot in front of me....Paul is in Toronto, he called, was busy/busy..I mentioned the fog, normally he'd say get out of there but just kept talking business.

Lyndonville, NY

Betty, it is down pouring here the last couple hours. Went to get hair done and told Kim "don't dry it, save your time" as it would be totally
soaked before getting to van.

DH leaves for his trip tomorrow, so will be quiet time for me for a few days I hope! He is going to NJ for work.

Victoria Harbour, ON

mild and foggy, rain is yet to come.
How long will Paul be away Debbie?

Will you be home alone?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Meant to add..

The courts have decided to send Allan for assessment as this is not the first time he's hurt someone. I believe he has to be there for a few months..if found 'sane' then he will go to court..victim impact who call Robert with updates says he could spend several years in Kingston Pen..not a good place to be..if found 'not sane' then they will keep him for as long as it takes..

Lyndonville, NY

Betty, he will be back Friday evening. Both kids are still here except when at work. Wish I was here alone!

We are having the downpour still and fog is moving in.

Lyndonville, NY

That is good news on Alan having an evaluation. Sure hope they can keep him there and everyone safe.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Am hoping so! Shane still at home?

Greg is on his way home ..still 8 hrs to drive, will arrive late tonight IF weather cooperates. Says he's had a great time.

Lordy I'm tired...am giving Suzanne a ride home after work, think I shall let her drive THEN will have a nap until Ann comes over for bingo..was going to ask her for supper but no can do tonight..that's what you get when you only have about 4 hrs. sleep

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Here are the baby quilts I made. Last one is a piano key border gone wrong. I bought the fabric for a border on a lap quilt, but after I had the fabric cut, I decided it did not go with the other fabrics. I did not want to waste it, so I sewed them all together, and made it into a lap quilt. Now I just need to get some fabric for the backing, and put it together. trying to decide if it needs a border or not?

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Very nice Linda Kay. What type of batting did you use on the one with the satin binding? The duckies one is really cute. I'd put a border on the last one - maybe the green?

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Busy you LK....that duckie one is too cute.

Betty, DD and family will land in Dallas, Texas on the Mon before Easter....from there. they are meeting up with friends and going to Austin, Texas and the East to the Houston Space Center. They will get here late Good Friday evening. I am sure the kids will be quite happy for a couple quiet days to enjoy their Easter goodies and not have to be in a car or on a plane...the trip as far as Dallas takes about 20 hours of flying + or - layover times. They will be site-seeing and driving around for 4 full days after landing in Dallas.

Then we will see how to work everything else in...Earth Day and Ethan's 4th B'day are on the same day....he will be amazed at the party the state is throwing....grin The week before that is the Blues Festival with all kinds of food and games for kids and righteously good food and music for the adults. We are also going to BR zoo and have a day planned at the JUMP kids center...all kinds of bouncy, jumpy climby on thingies for them plus lunch and a movie....then of course they will need to see the great grandparents and DD has a few visits with friends lined up. Gonna be a pretty busy 3 weeks.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Brb, I used polyester batting I had on hand. It was a roll of batting I had won from Facebook, so that is what I used. The duckies is warm and natural.

Jean, sounds like you family is going to be busy!

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Yes, they don't get home often so we try to make the trip as memorable and as much fun as possible. There will be days spent in the garden while DD and DSIL have a little away time site-seeing around Nevada and the a couple days after they get back, DSIL has to fly back to AU for work. Since he has three out of town business trips, DD and the boys will be here for another 3 weeks. It will be lovely having them here.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Judy - thank you. I've been a little "down". Sorry I haven't been online.
Besides that - between my temp fulltime job, Thurs I was at Choir Practice, Friday was Movie Night at the Church (we run it), and Saturday was the Robbie Burns dinner (organizer of that - from 8am to 10:15pm I was at the Church getting ready for the dinner/decorating, running around during (with a stop to have dinner myself lol) and then the cleanup. Sunday after Church I went to a friend's to help him understand the new Hotmail page...... he's so confused.......
So, been crazy busy, and Monday I just didn't feel like getting online much.
Feb 15th is my last day at this temp job, and I don't know what happens afterwards. I try so hard to leave it in God's hands, but sometimes it's difficult.

Verona, ON

Whose up? I just made a big bowl of popcorn and unless I have help I will eat the whole dog gone thing.!Come help me eat this buttery mess.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Been up for a bit Dianne..looking for rshorts, imagine 50 today, then frigid temps tomorrow. Will be some serious flooding going on

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Yesterday, we hit a record high temp of 86. Last record high for yesterday was 84 back in 1917!
Morning everyone!
Dianne, you have two fur babies to help you with that pop corn!

Victoria Harbour, ON

That time of day, roads will be nice for travelling..

Pain in lower back has been so bad that staying in bed is just not an option so was downstairs sewing bindings, have another set to bring to work and hand sew.

Suzanne's birthday is tomorrow, have to come up with something for her..might go to garden gallery and see what they have..hopefully can do so on my lunch hour if not a trip after work..

Would imagine LindaKay that many of us are breaking temp records..saw that Arkansas got bad storm, here is hoping Crissy is ok..ohhh speaking of Crissy, the amaryllis she gave me will have a bloom shortly..brilliant red

Lindakay, love the quilts, especially love the floral pieced one..where oh where did you get that fabrics..some hung one will be excited to get the duckies..

Worried about our Mary...

Oh look at the time, got to run, gab when I get to work

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

Y'all. Have a great day! I am off for the early shift. Good thing is....get out early, means supper with my guys :-)

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Don't work too hard Thunder.
Betty, I got the fabrics at Hobby Lobby!

http://shop.hobbylobby.com/products/cct1-39-cottage-roses-929224/

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

I imagine Mary is drop dead busy right now...the Super Bowl is in NO this Sunday, I am sure she is racing around taking care of her clients in New Orleans and here.

We broke the record here too LK...81 yesterday...19 degrees above the norm.....supposed to get down to mid/hi 30's tonight with more rain.

Good thoughts to you all

Jean
