another bite? I know you've had light bites before, but this one sounds a bit more...
Nice of Dana to be so complimentary about your front garden. Makes it worthwhile when someone else notices, eh? :-)
Best/Worse/What did I learn today? Visit with friends!
Katie, you need a good pair of gloves for working outside! OUCH! Hope the benadryl works for you!
Been working on the baby blankets, had to go to the Dr, for lab results from last week. Still have high cholesterol, so I have new meds to try! She keeps telling me I am pre diabetic, to watch what I eat. And I lost 14 pounds since November.
Morning all,
It's another cold cold day in my neighborhood, brrr will have to check car thermometer on my way to work.
Katie I'd be freaking out for sure just thinking there are scorpions near the gardens..Benadryl doesn't to me seem quite strong enough to deal with the poison. Yikes, hooe you are ok today. Nice to see your gardening efforts are being noticed!
Susan, id rather be putting up with frigid temps than having winter 1/2 the year. Before we know it spring will be here.
Lordy I was in bed at 6:30 last night, been sneezing so hoping lots of rest will ward off a cold.
I had been working on a quilt with some hand painting, have about 30 hrs into the project and now decided I don't want to go that route so off to the basement to organize materials to do appliqué way, that ought to keep me busy today.
As for Allan, we will know the outc e today. Lnda was speaking with court clerk, seems a woman was in court and said she would have to think about it overnight, thus the postponing of being sent to jail waiting for the court date...she could specifically say it was Allan's case so yes we will see.
None of the family want to see Allan in prison, want help for his mental difficulties and he will never get it if she bails him out. I know she has allianated much of her family for many reasons and this surely will put the topping on the cake if she takes him out.
Well, got my hair to do, get dressed, pack up a bag of sewing and what am I doing, sitting here!
-29, heat wave..
I'm heartbroken, more than heart broken..Greg called me to tell me if Noah came over I am NOT (big big letter NOT) to give him any $$$. They found something in his room that should never have been found.
It's his 1st year of high school, he's a follower..know at 14 kids are kids but sometimes they get off the track. wiping a tear..
Betty, now you understand what I am going through and dealing with...same thing. HUGS!!!!
Morning All!
Well, it's cold here like so many places around the country, but never so bad it can't be worse. SIL working on getting the wood burner going, which helps heat house, water heater and outside dog kennel. It's a small building outside that you put the wood in and the water that pumps through out is what does the heating for everything. Depending on the temps and wind depends on how fast the wood burns. It's quite the setup.
Yes, Tubby's nephew is a sweetie, but unfortunely the family doesn't have anything to do with him either. Let's say some of the family has alot of their own problems and easier to make the other the fault of all. Oh well, life will go on.
Hopefully, the person thinking of putting up the bail comes to their senses and doesn't. Wishing all comes out okay.
We had gotten 20" of snow right before Christmas, but most of it gone now, but will be getting more just not in that quanity at one time. It's suppose to be up to 40* by next Tuesday with a chance of rain. Go figure.
Well, I better go downstairs and get something done as SIL and I went on road trip yesterday and made a few stops and didn't get home in time to get anything done. LOL Had a good time. We went and checked out the lake where the ice fishermen are and they are catching lb or more Crappies, Walleye and Northeren. I don't like ice and don't trust it, but may have to try it once.
Hope all have a great day! Chat later.
Shirley
Betty, saying prayers for all, yes growing up is hard and unfortunately there are alot of bad people out there that is always trying to lead the innocent astray and don't care what happens to them. God Bless!
Thank you Debbie and Shirley, just sick to my stomach..know you know the feeling Debbie.
Glad Shirley you are getting out and so glad you are there for Tubby's nephew as well. Family of the heart vs blood. Ohhh I'm not a fish eater but give me crappy and I'll eat until I can eat no more..specially like them with the old french "tranches"..they are thin slices potatoes, set on a wood stove for a few minutes each side then adding them to a plate of butter..yum/yum wish I had a wood stove.
Sorry to hear that Betty, kids will be kids, and they will get into a lot of stuff. Hopefully he has learned his lesson, and will not do that again?
Shirley, don't work too hard today! Sounds like the heating system is quite the set up!
Hugs Betty !!♥♥♥
Oh Dear Betty. I'm putting Noah at the top of my prayer list and I pray that this is just a one time thing. Norm and I were so impressed when we met him and I can't help but think this is just one of those times when as a teen he just wasn't thinking. I'll keep all of you in special prayers.
Thanks Barb, don't know if I'm more devastated with setting the line on those kids so high to know they were on straight and narrow, given everything at home including supervision and rules/regulations?
You got to wonder how these things happen..again he's the most like me, felt a bond with him..haven't spoken to him but will..Greg just wanted me to know I was not to give him $$$ if he asked..
Tummy is just churning
off to Fabricland for a bit!
The wood stove potatoes sounds delicious and interesting. It always amazes me the different types of food and how it is done across the country. Funny how the word food always brings people together and smiles to most faces. Always liked potatoes any old way, especially fried with onion in butter or you can use I Can't Believe It's Not Butter the liquid kind as has no sodium, calories ( don't think the cow had anything to do in the making of it) but is delicious for cooking with.
Okay off and do errands didn't get done yesterday. Will check in later.
Shirley
Sorry I have not been on. Been having major problems. Seems Scotty's ex wife who hasn't spoken to him in 34 yrs and his good for nothing son got the doctor to release Scotty and has taken him somewhere and Scotty says he is sueing me for divorce. OH!!! such a mess I have never been in. Waiting for the next bomb to fall. Please say prayers for me and him and them for they know not what they are doing. OH ME!!! Love to all BEV
Prayers for you Betty and everybody.
Oh my word Bev, BIG BIG hugs to you! Keep your doors locked when you are home alone.
OMG Bev. I just don't understand some people. It seems like if there is a way to hurt someone they go for it. I'm so sorry you are going through all this especially after all you tried to do for Scotty. I would fight them though as it seems like they are trying to get what is yours and they are using Scotty to do it. I'm sure the doctors would testify in your behalf as to his state of mind for these last few years. I'll keep you in my prayers dear lady.....
Ahhhh Bev, surely not!!! I'm shaking my head, cannot believe what goes on in families, really I can't!!!
Please tell me you are part owner in the trailer, that papers were signed to give you Scotty's portion when he was put into a home for his own well being. Heart goes out to you, special hugs..we've missed you and you know we are here for you..how can people hurt so much???
Now that I posted about the 'tranches' I've made myself hungry. Suzanne and I went to Kentucky Fried Chicken, one of my favorites..it's been years though that I come out having enjoyed my meal..everything is just sooo greasy.
(((Bev))) (((Betty))) My heart goes out to you both.
Bev echoing Betty I do hope your name is on the ownership of the trailer. I hate when things like this happen. Sending you prayers of comfort and strength.
Oh Betty, Greg, Melanie and you have given Noah a good moral compass. I am positive when all is said and done Noah will revert back to his usual behaviours. The pressure that is put on these teens in HS now is very scary. I am sure glad I am not attending HS now. To think that all our parents had to worry about was we might have an odd nip out behind the barn if we were dating an older teen. I was a bit of a pistol in HS and know I gave my parents fits many times. I'd like to think I turned out alright. My upbringing had everything to do with that.
Warmed up to a balmy -22*F today. lol
Have new tires on the Escape, now I am not worried about travelling in any weather. My pocket book is a fair bit leaner but I feel safe.
Seem to be typing with my Italian hand today .... that's what Warren used to call it when accidently typed an 'a' at the end of every word.
Darn you Betty,KFC sounds mighty good to me right now. The liver simering on the stove just isn't going to cut it now.
Dianne
Bev, please know were sending prayers from Texas too! Sorry to hear what is going on!
I agree, Bev & Betty - hugs, love, and prayers for you both! The "men" in our lives can be overgrown babies!!
Oh Bev (HUGS) ... please let us know you're alright... and yes lock the doors... maybe begin a paper trail of his behaviour?
Betty - (hugs) for you too... but like Deb... going through similar stuff... I'm thinking... "Thank God" they found it when he was 14 and an example can be made before it became a habit....DS is still trying to extricate himself from his bad choices... and don't take it personally... because as all have said... you have all done such an excellent job with those kids...
Shirley so glad you have Tubby's nephew to put a smile on your face....
Dianne... love your italiana accenta....
(HUGS)

Brrr was all tucked in, heard a snowmobile, it was Kyle coming to visit. Said " know you lay in bed watching tv". Ooookkkayyy! Lol.
Nice visit, said his dad left today for the north, that he and Noah were going to go snowmobiling tomorrow night, that Noah will work a few Saturdays with him at factory rec.
I said I hadn't seen Noah for a bit, asked how he was doing as I always ask, Kyle said he keeps busy, not going out with the girl he was seeing anymore, said now Noah was looking into changing schools, to go to catholic school where Kyle goes.. Am sure there will be a lot of changes for Noah as set by Mel and Greg.
Thank you all for your concern
Yawning again, going to try this sleep thing for the 2nd time tonight.
Doubtful Kyle knows about anything otherwise he would have opened up.
Asking for prayers for Dad please? My Sis called, and said he is really depressed, as they are trying to wean him off the pain pills, he does not want to eat, not even ice cream, he can't walk or go to the bathroom on his own. Even though she keeps telling him he has to get better to come home. The Dr, removed the staples from the surgery area's, and he said it all looks really good. Yes it is swollen a bit, but that is normal he said! No blood clots that he can find! Kathy said he acts like he does not care about anything, and is trying to give up!
Prayers are being said for you and your Dad, LK........ sad to hear he's feeling so depressed.
Just heard about the job I interviewed for the other day - I didn't get it (Pan African). Said they found a better "fit"
Oh, sorry to hear that Susan! I know you will land that perfect job soon!
Linda Kay, depression is a side effect of anesthesia in some elderly people....others have a bout with mild dementia. More than likely your Dad felt so good being pain free that he is loathe to hurt again. Who knows how much he experienced that he didn't say anything about before surgery?
Maybe he requires a bit of "Dutch Uncle-ing"....some one who sits down, and with firmness and no "emotion" explains what is at stake with this behavior....He wants to go home......unless he starts making an effort to help himself, then he will never be able to go home. He needs to know that he is loved and everyone wants him back at home, but it is up to him. He has to choose to live out his life with friends and family, or die in a nursing home. It sounds cruel, but you would be surprised how many of the elderly in that situation get mad at the thought that they are not in control of their lives and begin to "get with the program" towards their recovery just to prove you wrong.
Good thoughts for you, your Dad and your family......I truly hope he gets a grip on the situation soon.
Tough break Susan.....still hoping the right job will come your way soon.
LindaKay maybe Jean has an insight here. I guess it is a question of playing to your Dad's priorities. I know I sometimes need to be talked to like that when I get stubborn about something. I'm keeping all of you in my prayers..
Wow, lots of prayers for everyone to start the day.
Woke up at 4:30 am after a long nap yesterday afternoon and an early bedtime. My scorpion-bitten finger still tingles a bit but I'm almost all better. Nasty bite, not the worst I've had, and I will go back to a more careful mode.
Dana came over for a plant. It is a native that volunteered and she will use it to help screen her neighbors. She got the tomato and broccoli plants put in right away.
It has warmed up here. I have the heater on in my bedroom but won't need it for long. Just to take the chill off.
Coffee if ready. I will go think about what to do today since it looks like I'll be awake.
hugs, katie
Morning all,
Sending prayers Lindakay for your dad. Jean said it best, what wonderful insight..hard to speak to a elder loved one feeling as though we are verbally abusing but sometimes it's for the best. Difficult for you being so far away. Hugs for you.
Susan, sorry you didn't get the position!
Seems we all need a group hug..sure glad we have each other as a support group.
Need a coffee, love Fridays for the working from home.
Still in bed, haven't looked outside to see what is brewing with the weather, gab in a bit..time to get energetic!
Thanks for the prayers and info Jean, I will tell that to my Sister, and tell her to have a sit down talk with him!
You are most welcome LK....just remind her that she has to be "all resolve and no sympathy" when she does....hard to do that when you love them, but the first tear negates the process...it has to sound authoritative and logical to jolt them into thinking about the situation and their options...which are few.
LK, Prayers being sent for your dad. It is so hard when they get older and are ill. There are so many factors involved in their recovery and I am sure you are stewing that you are so many miles away.
Need to get into the village now - like I should have left 10 min ago so I am off.
Dianne
Prayers for you LK and your Dad and Sis as this won't be an easy thing to do but hopefully she can pull it off and he will get the will to fight and get better. Been there hard to do.
Dear Bev, prayers are with you too. People never cease to amaze me, there is always someone out there that has alterier motive and not good ones either. Stay strong and know we are all here for you. Keep safe.
Betty, if Noah changes school maybe that will be a good thing, not saying there aren't bad influences there also. Growing up in today's world is sooo.... much different than when we grew up. God Bless and I just have a feeling all will be okay.
Snowing out right now, 1-2" is all we are to get, but a dry snow so will be slick.
Well, got to get stuff ready for the mail, so will go and get stuff done. Hoping all will have a better day today and some sunshine will be in your day.
Shirley
Prayers for all of you again and always in these bad times and I will fill you in later. Thank you all so much for being here for me. HUGS BEV
Morning all,
Been up early, sewed a bit and had to talk myself into going into town..glad that is over!
Barb, your package arrived..LindaKay yours did as well and you will get the finger shaken at you and you will know why, I'll be sending a bigger package your way..
Need to ask for prayers, Ann's nephew who is battling cancer ( found out 1/2 year Fter his mom died from cancer) was rushed tp toronto for major surgery. Bowel is crushed, they are not sure it's part and parcel of the cancer but doesn't sound good..told Ann I'd ask the prayer force to pray! Miracles have happened here amongst us via our praying..
Ann was to have come to sew with me this mornimg but she is waiting to hear if anything she can do..might come over this aft just to get her mind off things.
Bev, nice seeing your posts, thank you, am sure Noah will be ok..have a plan how I will approach things..don't get me wrong, he hasn't been into trouble with anyone except for parents..his grades have suffered since he hung out with that young girl who was staying on her own, what young 15 year old stays on her own..not blaming her, Noan should not be a follower..his grades are suffering..am sure without $$' mom dad keeping him busy, Mel will pick him up from school every day, weekends filled with family going n's..we shall see..not the first kid who may have tried marajuana .. But still, overwhelming for me!
Betty, there was a big thing on the news last night they are trying to legalize it here in NY also. It is a hard hard road. Regarding the 15 year old girl. Remember, you don't know what she was battling at home...could have been worse for her to stay there. Your Grandson probably thought he could help her....he is very much like his grandmother with a very kind and loving heart.
Do not believe that the Catholic school will help much, ours in the area has the worst kids possible and everyone laughs. Its the parents putting them there
thinking the Nuns, priests teachers will put the fear of God in them and do the work the parent should be doing. I think the ones I have seen with the most improvement are the ones that have been given a job (Like Noah) to work and not have time for anything outside of school and work to get into trouble.
But mostly, the kids just do not care anymore.
Imagine my excitement when the mail lady came up to the porch with a package!!!
YEP, it is FOR Betty!!! Must be your Rock exchange???
Good Morning!
Prayer is powerful, so will gladly say prayers for Ann, and everyone else who needs them.
Sun is shining but tomorrow the bottom drops out with freezing rain, etc. not looking forward to that, but will survive. Will get chores and running around done today. Better set a fire under myself, LOL. Daughter and I sitting here having coffee and yacking, not very productive. Why do today what can be put off till tomorrow. Right!
Have a great day everyone and will check on you all later. Let you know then if I got anything accomplished.
Shirley
Debbie, you getting this snow?? Glad I've been to town and ow can just enjoy the warmth of the house....
Oooh rocks, rocks, rocks...are you ale to take photo and post here for me.
Still waiting for a call from Ann, poor dear, she was sobbing when she called this morning..think I'll call
Shirley, you enjoy a leisurely day and chat away with your daughter..so glad you are closer to caring/loving family and can see them more often..are you still intending to get part time work or are you now with the move able to be a lady of leisure.
Too funny, I've had my janome embroidery machine for ions, what do I do, take out manual for something to read..shaking my head!
Cooking hamburger/tomato mac for a treat with Mach potatoes and a few chicken breasts..am hoping Ann will be able to come for supper all being ok
