Betty, please tell Ann were sending prayers for her Nephew as well! Family must be worried with this new problem!

Bev, how did the ex wife check him out, if he is not in the right state of mind, and you are his legal custodian? That may be a law suit right there? Dr'.s should not have allowed him to be released?

Lyndonville, NY

Oh my goodness! LindaKay, Ann & Bev....sending prayers for all.

Betty, you want them posted on here....or on your Rock exchange thread....or sent to you on DG mail?

You do not want me to wait for you to open? It is from Jan'

Nope, no snow here...bright sunshine although cold.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Could you post here Debbie..excited to see what goodies I got, besides wouldn't be right as I'm the las to get theirs to keep this rock swap open..know how creative she is, hurry hurry. Lol

OH Betty! Dang good thing Joyce didn't get this!!! WOW, I have never seen such beautiful rocks!!!

A pile of such beautiful rocks, they almost look like a puzzle.

A candle holder shelf with pretty rocks.

I think this might be a little bear carved rock....very pretty.

This rock is so pretty on both sides! A dark teal/green in there...so so pretty!

And this rock form with the little house set up on it is so cute...it might get lost (wink).

Ohhh Debbie how right you are, got to hide them from Joyce!! Lordy I got spoilt, box must have weighed a ton..

Sure are nice, got to go back and look at them again

Thanks for doing this for me Deb..would have cost a fortune had they been sent to Canada...you are all so lucky to have flat rate boxes.

Girlfriend Dianne who sews asked me yesterday if I'd be willing to go spend the night/day in Buffalo in a few weeks. She is doing a quilt and wants to purchase specialty fabric on your side of the border..will have to look for more fabric shops other than Joann's. Know there is a big one just neat Penn border. Think about 45 minutes South West of buffalo

Maybe we can meet up..don't forget the rocks. Lol

Lyndonville, NY

Just make sure it is NOT the weekend of Feb. 10!!! We are leaving the 10th for Ohio.

Rocks, what rocks???

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

oh oh...... Debbie's "rock fever" is hitting HARD now that she's seen Betty's new rocks....... lol

Lyndonville, NY

I do have a very small rock garden....with my succulents...that don't grow much. I would show you but they are under a foot of snow.

Verona, ON

Now Betty just how are you going to explain those rocks to Customs? Or do you bat those eyes of yours and say Oh I have nothing to declare, or I had such fun in a fabric store,or do you want to see all I bought???? I too love rocks! What is it about them that appeals to us?

Prayers been sent to those who need them today. My goodness Bev what a mess. LK sure hope your sister is able to make some points with your dad.

Quill had another of her spells. It is so hard to tell when they are going to occur. She walked outside yesterday morning with Diesel and I then came in and collapsed. After 24 hours of not eating and moving little she told me she wanted to go outside. I helped her out and once she found purchase on the gravel she wobbled away. She is back inside now and did get up for some water so hopefully she has rounded the bend again. She is one tough cookie!!!

Betty, when do you think you will see Noah again? Will he hide from his Grandma if he knows she has been made aware of the situation? He is so young and the social pressure is so strong at school I really do feel for the kid. Not that I am condoning what he did and I am very glad that he got caught. Early detection is a good thing. Having worked with teens with massive social and behavioural problems I have to say Noah has 1 thing going for him whether he thinks so or not and that is he has a strong, loving family unit behind him.

No snow here just bitter cold and sun. We were supposed to get snow last night but just a few flakes. I think it all fell on the 401 Betty west of me? Did you see there was an 80 vehicle pileup and both directions of 401 were closed. The 401 is 1 of our major highways.

Think I will go for a nap. Oh what a novelty!!!

Sending prayers for Ann and family. My goodness I have no idea how that woman is still standing after all she has been through these last months. How is Darlene doing? Still considering flying down to visit her Betty?

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

What a bunch of prayer needs in here...... and I have my prayers for all of you in need......

Robbie Burns dinner tonight - and I was there at 8am to get stuff done. Right now I'm making extra fruit cobbler - seems not enough people signed up for it. This year there's no trifle, as the fellow whose wife & MIL made it last year has split up with his wife. She never came to our church, but loved to bake. So, more fruit cobbler needed, and well..... it's cherry cobbler lol
Bob's over at the church putting up the broad swords, Scottish flag, and putting ice melt down in the parking lot.
I will need to be there soon (when the cobbler cools) to direct our next set of helpers (only 3 of us at 8am today...... Mary & Walter, plus me.... Bob stayed home until he was needed for heavy stuff). Bob will be lifting the heavy pots of vegetables to drain.
Well, best get my "gear" together, so I can dress at the church in my kilt, etc. Do that at the last minutes before dinner, so I'm not splashing foodstuff on myself lol

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Sending prayers for Ann's nephew. That poor girl has had the world thrown at her these last two years. Please let her know that Norm and I send prayers also along with a few gentle hugs....
Sound like you could use a good lawyer Bev. Something isn't sounding right here regarding taking Scotty out of the hospital...
Enjoy your dinner Susan...

Sitting here chuckling!

Dianne, don't you know how she gets across customs yet? She jumps out of the car and goes "are you going to fisk me, I am so excited!"" And they
just push her right through!!!

Verona, ON

LOL, lol I can see Betty now!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Debbie/Debbie, telling tales out of school you are..I can still see those men at customs when the girl said I was the random number to be checked and I did exactly that..so excited I was going to be frisked, all I got what a reprimand and made aware of dangers meeting up with on-line friends I never met before..lol fingers were just a shaking...

No wouldn't be that weekend, I signed up for a morning to learn all about my new sewing machine..and, I was trying to head to Florida their the week of our family day holiday.

I also got an invitation for Paul's daughter's wedding in May, destination wedding on the islands..got to think of that one. Think I'd rather stay home while office is closed and take calls.

Dianne, Noah is a busy boy this week, today he's working with Kyle, tonight and tomorrow he, Kyle and Mel's dad are going snowmobiling then Tuesday Greg gets home..my plan of action is to ask if anybody heard about Allan, their cousin, how he attached their favorite uncle Robert..how he thought all was under control..now going to spend years in prison, how family now will shy away from him..how all other cousins are doing so well except for Allan all due to drugs..alienated by everyone. Etc etc etc..no need for me to say i know you've tried it.

Will give Ann all your hugs.

She hasn't called back, I've a feast for a queen..sure hope she shows or I'll have to go in search for a party od 10 somewhere..even baking desert.

Dianne, Quill sure is a fighter..bet Diesel watches over her!

Speaking of dogs, one of Sharon's pups doesn't have the perfect tail so someone was coming to see her today, might have found a home...yikes did I offend her, wrong choice of words..said 'so you are getting rid of her' simply meaning that she will not keep that particular pup..wow did I get told! The old, you are just like your mom...ooops no need to go that far. Which reminds me, should give her a call.

Enjoy the festivities Susan..yikes, got your piece today for sewing on the borders..overwhelming as its so beautiful, almost want to send it back to you so I don't screw it up!!

Better check the oven

Gab in a bit..

Want to come over for supper?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Ann just called, her nephew just went into surgery at 3:00' hospital had a few transplants which delayed things. Ann said part of what it is, is that they will take part of colen and bowel..not sure if it is cancerous..

She will come over at least to eat..think it will do her good..she said she's cleaned today like she has never cleaned..don't know what she could have cleaned, her place is spotless...said she took out her frustration doing so..

Called mom, Jim still isn't well, she's still coughing/hacking..she was on her way to church..they didn't come up to the cottage now it's been 4 weeks...really must be unwell for Jim to stay home

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, those rocks are so pretty! I know you can't wait to go get them.

Update on Dad. I called there a little bit ago, and he is in much better spirits. The Dr. Sat down with him, and told him like it is! Straight forward. Told him if he does not try to get up and move, and eat properly, that he will not be going home for any type of recovery, and that he will die! I guess it hurts his feelings at first, but when I talked to him, he perked up, and rally had a different attitude.

Victoria Harbour, ON

LindaKay, great news, even better that the doctor stepped in and told him what needed to said. Guess we'd also get into a bit of depression if we were in his position..upward on onward, he will be home in no time.

Ann just left, Tobby is still in surgery...one of the nurses can out with update, surgery was going well .. Let's hope he is a fighter!

Had told Ann I'd help her do some Christmas placemats so she came with fabric..we enjoyed our supper, enough left over to feed a family of 8..didn't get into desert then went downstairs and got the fabric cut. If all goes well she might drop in after church tomorrow for a few hurs..might take her mind off things.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Glad to hear all is going well so far, and that Ann relaxed a bit doing some fabric cutting!

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

So glad the doctor decided to do the Dutch Uncle for your Dad LK. I am sure things will continue to get better for him. Good thjought continue for you all.

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

♥♥♥ hugs for everyone♥♥♥

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Happy to hear Ann's nephew is a fighter. He is in good hands and has so many of us praying for him.

Sounds like you have the perfect way to "talk" with Noah Betty. Allan doesn't know it but he served a purpose anyway even if it was as a bad example!!! How is Robert doing?

Wonderful news about Dad Linda Kay. I'm glad Kathy didn't need to be the one to talk to him that way. Sounds like he has an exceptional doctor. Those are the kind I like - the ones who call it like it is.

Got some muslin yesterday thanks to a friend going to Joann's. Now I can get busy on the ten totes for February. Off to cut fabrics from Marion this time.
Have a wonderful day everyone.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all,

Drats, didn't sleep half the night and woke with one heck of a headache, sitting quietly in hope it will pass...do you think it could be because I'm worried Debbie won't give me my rocks. Lol.

Debbie do you think the rock that looks like a collage of browns is too big to set on my coffee table?

Barb, did tell Ann how all of you are praying for Toby. She said she would likely drop in after church so hope she has some even better news.

As for Noah, sure don't want to come on the heavy, he is old enough to know right from wrong, he'll have a hard enough time beeing watched at home by Greg/Mel but I do want to get my 2 cents in.

Robert is hurting, when you are 68 and battling with a 45 year old it takes a bit for the body to recoop!

Enjoy your sewing, hoping to finish what I'm working on, at least as much as I can today and have a few panels I want to get to.

Waving to all, breakfast is calling!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, you may want to come across a little on the strong side to Noah. If he knows Grandma is upset, he may realize he messed up, and he does not want Grandma mad at him.

Can't wait to see your new tote bags Barb.

Betty, what are you working on today? Morning glory panels or placemats?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Well I've set the 3 painted morning glory panels aside for another project..need to finish top and bottom strips decorative strips, which I have done to it, then borders..don't have the white background fabric long enough to do the strips all in one piece,,know it will be mega quilted and likely not show but?? If I don't join them then I'm at a halt. If Ann drops in and doesn't stay I could take the 1/2 hr drive into Orillia and buy some so I can finish it..nothing too exciting

Lyndonville, NY

Betty, that first picture of rocks....there are about 80 rocks there in that pile. The rest of them, largest is probably 6 inches....so whichever you want
for your table will fit.

Nilwood, IL(Zone 5b)

Linda Kay. Scotty's son took him out but Scotty signed himself out because he made the doc mad enough to release him. Everyone thinks he is in his right mind but he never has been!!! He is so near death that even if I win the monies that I have been living on, as soon as that happens it stops anyway. They both have money but are wanting more but can't get it I hope. We will see. I am going to try and get a lawyer tomorrow. He is sueing me for repeated and extreme mental cruelty. I will post when I know something. HUGS BEV

Victoria Harbour, ON

Drats Bev, you must be beside yourself! Why is it that those (generalization- not really ALL) who have the $$$ seem to always want more in these situations. Heart goes out to you. That's a hard thing to prove, merely heresay and I'm sure the doctor would vouch for you re Scotty's condition. Sending hugs/prayers

Ohhhh thank you Thunder, gorgeous! How lucky you are to have such beauty still in your gardens..You home today Thunder?

Ann just called, said to say thank you for the prayers, Toby is doing well this morning..if things continue as they are he will start his chemo on Thursday.

They are not sure his illness this time was due to another cancer, will take a week or so to get the results back as to wether or not it was.

Here is hoping it was not and that the chemo works. Ann said she never slept last night so was going to put a movie on and have a nap.

I'll need a nap after I clean the craft room..keep looking for fabric and bringing totes out, emptying them..yikes what a mess

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

I was not at home. was at work when I posted, with my new phone :) if you look close in 2nd picture you can also see crunchie, dry, brown yuck, from the last cold spell we had. it has been quite chilly ( for here) a number of times. I am amazed I am still getting so many blooms.

continuing with happy , healthy thoughts for all of those in need...

Victoria Harbour, ON

Yet Darlene says its been hot in her neck of he woods..guess with her being in the most southern part and you in the north can be a big difference.

In my Christmas box from Crissy was an amaryllis, set it in dirt when I got back fron Florida, omg you should see the growth, hard to believe.

Took about 25 quilt books on my bed, fireplace on and I'm relaxing..telephone just rang, aunt Muriel to tell me my uncle Gerry's cancer is back..hard calling him uncle hen he is only 3 years my elder. Been 3 years since he had clean bill of health. His wife Laurie who is 12 years his junior is fighting same..aunt Muriel spent week with them..appreciated my call on her birthday.

Wants me to drop in, seems Laurie gave her bags of linen..don't you know I'd be the first person she called to see if I could use it...not likely but I romised her I would drop in one evening after work.

She said she and my cousin also bought flannel for a rag quilt..could I let her know when I'm free. Lol

Off to read my quilt books

mulege, Mexico

Hi Everyone, I'm still among the living but without much energy. I think I have the norovirus. The good news is that I'm mostly just very tired. No pain except two nights of headaches. So I'm grumpy from no energy but grateful not to be suffering.

Lying in bed, reading, watching TV and saying prayers for all those in need.

Yesterday I told Tony about the headaches, etc and said he should stay home if he gets whatever it is. We'll see if he's here tomorrow. No big deals so whatever.

In my times of being able to stand up I'm cutting out a quilt. Also, cutting a plastic to put on the windows to help with insulation.

It's been warmer lately - forties and fifties and we've had a couple of rains. Unusual but welcome.

Found three packets of seeds that I had absentmindedly stored in the light bulb box.

hugs, katie

Where is everybody? kb

Lyndonville, NY

Katie, we got hit with a snow/ice storm during then night. I can't speak for others....but wonder if Betty & Dianne got the same across
the lake? Power is out in some areas. It is supposed to warm up during the day and melt the ice. Took my DD twice as long
to get into work this morning.

Are you feeling better? I wonder if your body is reacting to your scorpion bite??

Debbie

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all,

wicked drive in, left 1/2 hr. earlier than usual, got in 5 minutes late, however, I did stop at walmart for green thread so I could sew binding on christmas placemats...needed something to keep me busy today!

Thankfully, freezing rain started just as I got to the office. We are to have every alternate day either being winter temps and the next spring like temps..and they wonder why everyone is catching colds/flu.

Katie, think Tony is wise not coming around while you are unwell..if he went home with all his house full of people andpased it on, what an epidemic that would be.

Stay in bed and rest over the next few days, think as soon as you start feeling well you are out and at it...give your body time to recover from what ails you.

Verona, ON

Snowing here, freezing rain on the way. Oh joy! Went into the village early this am to pick up a couple of things in case we really do get socked in with freezing rain. Toronto roads do not look like a place I would want to be this morning. We are expecting the freezing rain about rush hour home traffic. Of course!

Just about roasted me out of the house yesterday. Whew! Stoked the stove like I have these last bitter cold days - forgot the temp had risen. Oh my, I felt like I could have fried bacon on the hardwood floor in the BR.

Going to bring a couple of wheel barrow loads of wood into the house so it doesn't get all icy and wet. Diesel will have a blast hauling the logs around the house. Not looking forward to the mess but sure am looking forward to the dry wood.

Tony came to work so he's OK. The scorpion bite might have been part of whatever I've had. I'm better now - no headache last night. Will continue to take it easy. Glad I got a flu shot

Tony usually works separately from where I am. He knows what needs to be done and doesn't need supervision. .Some days we don't say much more than hello and goodbye. My trust in him is one of the things he appreciates. The fact that I can trust him is one of the things I appreciate.

Back to the warm bedroom.

hugs, katie

Victoria Harbour, ON

Dianne, you should have been slicing potato's on top of that wood stove and setting them in butter..the best of the best. I was lucky enough to follow a plow at high spped of 40 MPH, lineup was as far as I could see, but all were safe.

You always feel better when Tony is about, now go rest
