Did call, with all the enfluenza nurse suggested I try to wait a week or two, even dr not feeling the best!

Will check out the weather Debbie, I don't pay much attention as the are nearly always wrong..

Tomorrow morning will tell the tale

Glenview, IL

Glad you called Betty, have you tried hot compress??

my gosh the wind is just howling out there...

lol don't know where the spider went as long as it stays there, haha.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Tried heat, cold compresses ,bed rest , walking, sitting and drugs..lol. Nothing working at the moment...will have to pull my big girl panties on and stop complaining!

June just called, having problems with a knitting pattern, on her way to see if I can help

mulege, Mexico

Betty, have you called your doctor yet?

I've just done six hours of sorting/labeling, etc. and I'm tired and have itchy eyes from all the dust. But I'm making progress. No Tony tomorrow; his daughter has to see the dentist in Santa Rosalia. So I'll sort/clean etc on my own.

I'm trying some herbs from a place called Botanical Spirit to see if they help with pain. I'm doing small doses and they may be helping. I don't like taking the narcotics though they do help a lot with the pain.

Have a huge pot of rice and chicken legs cooking so I don't have to worry about cooking for a few days.

Have several birds in the kitchen. I think they don't like the cold weather either and come in through the door which is left open (Life in the subtropics). They got into the dogs' rice and scattered it around, including in the food processor which I wouldn't mind so much but someone also pooped in it.

Nap time.

hugs, katie

Victoria Harbour, ON

What a sight that must be Katie, so laughing!

Played at sewing, tired now, Suzanne just called to say she is a go for tomorrow mornimg, not sure what happened, Lenny said he wouldn't mind going for the ride...hmmm maybe he wanted some quality time, if so why take me

Lyndonville, NY

Where abouts are you going tomorrow Betty? I know you said Joannes. Just for the day or staying over night? You be careful driving.

mulege, Mexico

Glad I could give you a laugh, Betty. Chronic pain sucks big time. I'm pleased with the progress I made today; I fell sound asleep for a couple of hours this afternoon. I'm going to have some soup and watch a Keanu Reeves movie. It's still very chilly here. Botanical Spirits sent me a few free seeds with my order. I have a lot of seeds to start but it's so cold I hesitate. I had three tires ready to be planted - I turned and painted the tires, got the lined up and leveled; filled them with compost and earth; went out yesterday with seeds and Tony the rascal had planted little papaya trees in them. I said "great". There is still space for beet seeds whenever I get to them.

hugs, kati

p.s. my kitchen also has mice. And they walk on the counters looking for food and ignoring me. Tony has been setting traps and catching a couple every couple of days. We will prevail!!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Hope your feeling better soon Katie!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

ok - my current contract has been extended again! 3 weeks more.
They know that I am waiting to hear back re: interview and that I may have to wait about 3 weeks before I could start if I'm chosen... so, the kind people they are, they've extended me that long! What sweethearts, eh?

Betty - sounds like you're doing all the right things..... hope this sleeplessness and pain get settled...

Judy - possibility of a wedding this year?! how cool is that?!?!?!

Katie - poop is not supposed to go in a blender, or didn't you know that?!?! Why didn't you tell those birds? I'm sure they would have listened if you had! (NOT!!!) lol

Judy - "hearing" is always better than Reading laughter!

Went to dinner & a movie tonight - "Montana's" for dinner (it was really fabulous) and "The Life Of Pi" for the movie (also fabulous!). Both of these on gift certificates! How generous of people for Christmas presents, eh?!?!

Betty, I was going to try and meet up with you....however kept expecting flying monkeys to go past the window!!! Wind is wicked here! Been up
most of the night, DH got called into work two hours ago, and DS is off to his weekend projects.

Be careful!!!

Susan, no weddings here....my older two are already married. It was Judy talking about weddings and me commenting.
glad to hear they are extending your job til you hear on the other interview....that is nice of them.

Good news here is DD "the child" got hired at DH's place of business and should be a longer term position for now.

Debbie

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

That's wonderful for Shannon!!! Hope things go well for her.
Safe travels Betty although I imagine you are well on your way by now. I'll keep the prayers going until I hear you are safe and sound.
A clean house day here today. The temp is chilly at 27* - and only going to 35* or so. Tomorrow the same and then we get hit with all Betty's frigid air. Not supposed to go above 20* all week. So you know who now can NOT go out at all. This cold does a bad number on my breathing abilities. My sewing room is stocked with all kinds of projects and a bunch of hand sewing too. I'll be kept busy.
Still not finding a new place to live. They are either too expensive or they have stairs or they aren't centrally located for Norm's work. We will keep looking.....
~~~~~ and hope it is a good weekend for all....
Lyndonville, NY
Good morning Barb, that nasty weather is coming from here I think! They said it won't get out of the teens by mid week!
I think I am going to be in this house for a week....my van and I don't do that cold!!
Glad you have some projects to keep you going. I have enough cleaning ones too, so want to get in that attic and also downstairs closet....but
I would have help from the kitties in there, and not sure if it would be a winning situation.
(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)
Morning everyone! Betty, please drive careful! Debbie, sure hope one of these trips you can meet up with Betty.
Barb, you be careful too, if you have to go out in that weather. I agree, cold air is not good for your lungs!
Susan, Dad is doing better, he is in a nursing home for rehab, not for sure how long. They will do an evaluation early next week, and let my Sister know how much longer. When he was first moved there, he thought he was going there forever. Then my Sister told him, he will be coming home as soon as he can get strength back in his leg. He perked up then. He still does not like to share the remote for the TV!
(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)
I don't like to share the remote either Linda!!!!!
TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)
Sorry Debbie & Judy - edited my post.....
LK - glad to hear your dad's doing fine, and that he perked up when told he will eventually be coming home! yeah..... about the remote ...... LOL
Judy! That is wonderful! Congrats to Jake! He must be on top of the world, you and Steve also!
It got up in the mid to upper 40's so hopefully it wasn't too bad over here for Betty. Wind died down around here....don't know about up in Buffalo, sometimes
their weather is totally different just an hour southwest of here..
Dragging after my way to early morning, had a nap even! Dinner is done, and it is rather quiet (knock wood). DD working til 11:00 at Target, who knows where DS is, and hoping DH doesn't get called back into work. Already had one run to Rochester this morning.
Debbie
(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)
Congrats Jake! Way to go!
TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)
Wow - good for Jake!! Sure would be a good guy to have around in a dark alleyway!! lol
Victoria Harbour, ON
Evening all
Wonderful day,weather was fantastic,mother nature thought it was spring..
Where to start? Bought myself a new outfit and Outfit for Stacey's new arrival..by the time that part of the shopping was done I was too late for post office so will mail on Monday morning.
Went to 2 Joann's and one Hobby Lobby, bought few yards of fabric but nothing to write home about. Went to that little fabric shop I found last trip to Buffalo, Lordy it was closed, drats got an email from them Thursday, what's with that???
Ahhh a sign in the window saying they moved a few doors down, oh happy days..managed to get the Halloween witches hat for the twister template..get black and oranges girls, perfect for your template..then of course being a gadget person she showed me the machine quilting 'supreme slider'teflontop..wasn't sure I wanted to pay $31.99 for it but did.
I'm not a casino player at all but Lenny made comment a couple of times 'casino' close, have you ever been?' so I asked if he would like to go, yep, we each would take $20 play it then homeward bound. After 3 minutes on the machine I had won 143.75' Suzanne 45.30 and Lenny still had his $20 ... We cashed in, all happy as can be.
Will gab in the am..just wanted to say I'm back
Congrats to Jake
Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)
TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)
woo hoo, Betty - you don't win on Thursday bingo, but you win at the Hard gambling lol
Baton Rouge, LA
Congrats Betty ! Nice feeling to enjoy a night out and bringing the cash home ! LOL...
HUGS Judy... Missed another call ...
Long story short.... DSD2 wanted to bring her new beau to dinner tonight to meet us. (nice!) (hour drive fromLafayette)
My day consisted of washing, drying, folding, ironing, clothes, doing dishes, sweeping and swiffering floors, then Since Dad gave us bags of Grapefruit and I didnt' want to waste them... I looked up "freezing Grapefruit" and a recipe for Grapefruit Cake. Did all that.
Around 6pm I was taking cakes out of oven, brushing syrup on them and glazing and DH was working on smothered steaks with gravy... (that was when you called Judy)
DSD2 arrived late at 7pm (hubs was NOT happy with that) but her new beau is very nice and I really like him. So we visited with them having dinner and after....
The grapefruit cake was delicious....
DS is home now (was not home for Sister's visit) and has 7 friends in the hot tub. I do think they are drinking... but I am not sure that I should raise a fuss because I am just glad they are here and not *out* or at someone elses house....
*choose* your battles Mom used to say....
Judy that trophy is beautiful and well deserved ! Those are the days they will remember.... and treasure ! LK glad that your dad perked up and realized he can go *home*
Barb hope you have time to find the perfect home.... It's out there... just has to be.... I suppose timing is everything...
Sister Debbie - wonderful news... Hubs can watch over her there... and a good position I'm sure... for Shannon...
Hugs all,
Mary
Victoria Harbour, ON
Drats, can't sleep...windy, you'd almost think there was a blizzard going on, went to check, actually mild..bet Greg is just a fuming,snow we got has melted..Melanie won't be able to live with him. Lol
Yikes, thundering
LindaKay, men and their remotes! Roger would drive me insane with his flicking of channels. Is your dad gaining strength?
Debbie, would have been a perfect day to meet, as I walked the aisles of Christmas tree store I half expected you to pop out calling BeesieLou. Lol. How are Paul's burns doing? D day for the move?
Barb, frustrating searching for just the right house..guess an apartment is out of the question?
Mary, would have never thought you could freeze grapefruit..amaIng what you can learn on the Internet. Glad you enjoyed the company. Did the boys stay over after the hot tub?? Always a worry when they have a few drinks..drinking age here is 19 i believe, hmm not sure of that..
Big sigh, I must either go to sleep or get to heck up..hate these nights
(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)
Good morning all.
Congratulations to Jake!! That is quite the honor!! Norm's nephew used to wrestle in Iowa and Norm said Jake should be very proud of himself... I KNOW Judy and Steve are!!
I used to get upset when the kids came late for a meal. When you go through the time of making something for them, it's discouraging for them not to be there on time.
Breakfast is ready - more later....
Victoria Harbour, ON
Morning all,
yikes, fell back to sleep and woke up to a winter wonderland..so glad I have nothing to take me further than the back door..staying cozy
Thumbnail by Bettypauze
(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)
So beautiful Betty. And NO footprints!!!!
Cozy day here too. I want to finish cleaning the bedroom and straightening out the quilt room. Amazing all those little pieces of thread that land on the carpet!!
(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)
Glad to hear your back home safe and sound Betty! Snow is beautiful, but you can keep it.
Mary, sounds like you were happy with daughters boyfriend?
Dad has a minor set back, I was talking with my Sister, and she said that his leg is swollen, not for sure of the cause. They will check him for blood clots on Monday. Dad said his leg is really sore, so they are slowing down the therapy for a few days. Thier main concern is getting him off the pain meds. He likes them a little too much!
Victoria Harbour, ON
That is not good news LindaKay, puts you all on the worry train again!
Rita just called, not coming over because of the weather..think I shall brave the elements and go to the grocery store then in for the day.
Lyndonville, NY
Betty, we have that weather here also. The wind is horrible! Keep watching the trees out front as they are really swaying. Worry about the big oak and maple
down on the corner.
Moving day? If you mean DS's GF...that should be Feb. 1st or thereabouts. Still nothing on that for my ears to hear.
LindaKay prayers for Dad, that sounds like what happened with my leg with the blood clot. Is he back on blood thinners? My leg swelled and felt
very warm to the touch and just throbbed up the top, with it being paralyzed I couldn't feel anything down low....but they said I should be glad at that moment. He will need a vascular ultrasound of legs. Hope they find out whats going on.
Supposed to go out to dinner for our Anniversary tonight, don't think I want to travel anywhere in this weather. I just hate leaving the house when so cold and nasty out, and to dress up for that...ummm, I think I have a roast to put in the oven! LOL
Debbie
(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)
Happy Anniversary Debbie! How many years?
Yes, he is back on blood thinners, and they are keeping a close eye on him!
Victoria Harbour, ON
Well Debbie, not too many more days of waiting to see the outcome! Is she moving out of state?
Plowman just came, was downstairs sewing more placematts, didn't hear him so only got a pat clean up..car running, must have had some freezing rain, needs defroster to do its thing before heading out.
You've made me hungry for roast but think I'll pick up chicken for chicken and sliders..maybe bread pudding as well.
Maybe weather will clear up so you can go out for anniversary dinner, how many years? Congrats..
Victoria Harbour, ON
I walkways worry about blood thinners, can create a multitude of other problems..
Lyndonville, NY
Thanks Linda Kay, 23 years.
Betty, don't know where she is moving, but yes, I was told by DD it is out of state. She just doesn't know where.
Victoria Harbour, ON
Wow, talk about bad roads, glad I've got groceries and am now hoping for a snow day tomorrow. Lol. Likely not happen but one can hope.
Called Greg's, he and Kyle will come for supper but Noah and Melanie are going skiing. They love chicken and sliders so will make an extra large pot. Greg said that over past two weeks a lot of his men have had the flu, says he's not feeling 100% so will not go out snowmobiling, will take it easy..can't pass up supper though.lol
Debbie, would be quite a decision with no job to move into another state..let's hope he is smarter than that
(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)
Lots to catch up reading today.
Judy, congrats to your son on the trophy.....quite an accomplishment indeed.
Debbie, hope the burn is healing well and not giving your husband any trouble.
LK, that was good news about dad. I can see the smile that must have shown when he was told he could return home. So wish we had been able to do that with mom but alas, not. Had a set back yesterday that has really confused us. Seem Hospice removed one of their workers she really liked (actually son of a lady I went to school with ions ago), he was very dependable, loved his patients and always stopped to say hello to them even if they were not on his shift that day. Reason: to friendly. Go figure. I thought someone who did their work plus more and still had a smile for those so ill would be what they wanted. NOT! This has really upset mom and several others in the wing she is located.
Mary, the grapefruit cake sounds so good. Recipe? The grapefruit we got from my sister's tree are so small, about like baseballs, but the flavor is outstanding. Lack of rain during the growing season really took its toil on them this year.
Not much going on around here...waiting for doctor's appointment on Thursday to know what next step will be with this bum knee.
