Best/Worse/What I did learn today? Chat with friends..

He just called, has a few burns on his back, they cleaned him up and put on meds with some bandages and he is on way back to work!
I hate silver nitrate....you can get it on you and not know it or feel it until you hit "sunlight" and the burn starts to activate. Grrr!

Scary thing is, Silver nitrate is used to treat wounds, growths and ulcers on the skin and mucous membranes??? Glad Paul is okay....take a few deep breaths...HUGS

Yes it is, and they treat newborn babies with it in their eyes and umbilical cords!!

can't be too bad if they let him go back to work ?? right.? HUGS

Afternoon everyone! I am back home, and I had a great time getting Dylan snuggles! He is growing so fast.

Debbie, sorry to hear about hubby getting burned, hope it is not too painful!

Linda, how is dad recuperating? Keeping him in my thoughts and prayers.

Paul went back to work, said his boss sent him to Urgent Care or he wouldn't have gone. He is now at Red Cross doing his apheresis donation.

Dad was moved to a nursing gome for rehab, he needs to learn to move that leg, with the replaced artery, and removed toe. It is pretty sore, and all he wants to do is take lots of pain meds. So they will work on getting him of the pain meds too. He is not a happy camper going to rehab, at first he though he was going there permanently, and was a little happier when Kathy told him he would come home as soon as he can do as the nurse tell him to do for rehab, and get weened off the meds.

Must be overwhelming / confusing for him LindaKay! Hopefully he will not be there for any amount of time.

I haven't heard from anyone on the shower for Stacey. I've made a handful of bibs and have some oneses for her. My other DIL and I are going up on Jan. 30 to take some balloons, cake and gifts for a little party are their place. Now, of course, she is freaking out about $. Chris hasn't heard if he will get unemployment yet and they have to go on COBRA for medical until at least after the baby comes. I will pay for the COBRA so they can pay for Stacey's meds.
She did get Alexandra's room all ready; a pretty cream bed, dresser to serve as changing table, and a bookcase for books, diapers, etc. Friends gave them a pretty fairy decal to put on the wall; one of those large ones, can't wait to see it. The bed is all made with my fairy quilt for her. This room is really very small, so doesn't need much to fill it.
We (including the doctors) are all surprised that the baby has not come and very glad that we have past the time that it could have hurt the baby. Stacey will go off the heavy duty blood thinners the end of the month so that she can have a normal C-Section. Otherwise it would mean she had to be put under for regular surgery and Chris could not be in the room.
Yesterday was the MRI for them to get the measurements to make my new knee. February will be busy with baby and pre-surgery tests and getting all other doctor appointments out of the way since I wont be getting around for a while. Dentist, mammogram, cancer follow ups for my 1 year anniversary. Always busy.

Janice, I am getting a box of items ready to send out, do you want me to send it to you, or to Tink?

Debbie - is Silver Nitrate that heavy white cream they send home with a burn? Sure hope Paul recovers... I recall reading that a burn can be one of the most painful accidents you can have....

Thunder - how wonderful - another little girl angel to snuggle with!

I think my "head" is wired differently than my women bosses..... I work hard, am very respectful of them, and am not pushy. If it needs to be done, I do it and never say "NMJ" (not my job). I think some women are uncomfortable with another woman who doesn't say "NMJ". Heck, I'll make coffee for my boss if he/she drinks it. Nice start to the day, I think.

Anyway - My interview this afternoon was one hour........ tired afterwards, then had to walk 10 blocks to meet Bob - exhausted! I believe the interview went well. 1st one boss (Gary) for about 40 min, then 2nd boss (Phil) was introduced to me, and Gary left. Phil & I talked for 20 min. Gary & I had a good talk - he told me about the company & the job, and I asked some great questions that he apparently appreciated. Then when Phil came in he said he wouldn't talk as long lol
They want an EA who will become an Office Manager (Great! I have my certification in Office Administration!). One said they should decide before Feb 3, and the other said maybe mid-Feb (when they come back from business trip to Africa). Gary seemed impressed (he's the CEO) and Phil (VP) seemed to play his cards closer to his vest (said they have others to interview). I told Phil I was a little disappointed to hear it may not start until mid to late Feb. Ah well, if I get the job maybe I can be extended at TransAlta (where I'm contracted now).
Anyway, I will know what I know when I know it LOL

Mary, I was wrong...he works with several chemicals. He was burned by Nitric Acid, not silver nitrate. A spot on back of his head, and 3 spots on his back. THankfully he got them fast....but one is very nasty looking....The cream you are talking about is silverdeen I believe which he has had for some nitrate burns.

Betty, you better check the weather now for coming over. Friday and Saturday it is supposed to be lake effect coming off of Ontario and Erie both. Tonight is high wind warnings of 50 mph but that should be gone. They said it will be freezing cold along with the snow Friday and Saturday.

Afternoon all..seems like forever since I've been here!

Last night I was in bed shortly after 6:00pm..Greg called, said he and the boys were going to come visit, asked them not to, pressure and pain was so bad I just wanted to cry..didn't even sew you you know I wasn't well.

this morning here at work I got to finish a project that Paul wanted, now I can get back to painting my quilt project. lol

-15 here this morning..had a bit of snow last night, perhaps 2"..thought we were to get snow most of the week but I guess it changed path according the weather channel this morning.

Janice, I'll try and get something off while in Buffalo..drats, not sure how I got behind..

You will be so glad to get the operation done, by summer you'll be running all over the place!

Suzanne said she was able to change her appt.s for Saturday morning so unless it's freezing rain Buffalo here we come.

Susan, I'd rather work with men anytime..women co-workers can be so *&^%$..here is hoping they see what they want in you and that a full time job is just around the corner.

Good evening....I was out and about all day! Started off with a "jolt" as Jeanna (oldest dd) was coming to pick me up at 8:15.
I woke up, looked at the clock and it was 8:02!!! In and out of the shower fast, and she called to say "running a few minutes late" Thank heavens!

Dropped the dog off at the groomer, went to breakfast, did a walk through "The Shops" by the Artisans and found nothing....which was shocking.
Then up to Rochester and met DH & DD (Shannon) for lunch. Then mall walked and found....nothing! I was looking for new sneakers and no luck.

We picked up Izzy on the way home, got here about 4:15 and I crashed.

Very cold out as Betty said, but thankful the wind has stopped. Just light flurries all day.

DH said his spots are "tingling" a bit, but not too bad. They looks sore as anything to me.

Yes, he enjoys the new company. Almost everything is the same as all employees transferred over, and they treat everyone much better!

Didn't get the bad weather yet, just cold cold cold. Have had the flurries most of the day.

Yes Shane is still home, has been home nights for two weeks. Still doing his community service. The GF is supposedly moving Feb. 1st.
I haven't heard anything about this....so time will tell.

I have a feeling when I go to the Cleveland Clinic they will talk to me about shoes and possible supports/braces but I need something for now.
Not spending major money on them because of that particular reason.

Think having the extra support would help you, can see why you shall wait though..the purpose of the Cleveland clinic is it to teach you how to deal with pain or will they be looking to operate? Let's hooe Shane is taking this time at home to reflect on how his life is going..

Cleveland clinic is looking for an actual diagnosis, what went wrong and how to fix it. Most likely it will be a treatment with meds & PT. BUT
will have to see. I received a large envelope today with what to expect, plan on being there for several days (in area) for testing and such.

I just looked outside, we are covered in snow...I guess it arrived! Only 19 degrees out there. Brrrr!

Yes, you better eat....I had oreos and milk. lol

We have this banquet every year that we have to help host...one minute when I stopped to check my phone....big smile spread across my face... I had missed a call from our Judy.....didn't like missing it but glad to know she was thinking about me !
Betty YAY! on New Orleans... Hope that means Suzanne and you had fun there albeit your little "Danccident" (Dance+accident)... and hoping you'll include me at least in a dinner... that will hopefully be a very busy and stressful time of year for me.... but exciting too...

This has been a tragic week.... local much loved tire dealers son died in car accident ... talked to a friend yesterday who just lost a mentor to cancer... then today a client and his wife lost their 47 year old daughter. He was a very well known area businessman who was a Radio Legend for years....Jean did you hear of any of these ?

Oh Mary, I am so sorry for the losses in your life and community. It is so so hard.

I can't figure out if it is a good thing or not knowing the GF is moving. I really think he is just going with her...and not tell us til he is on way out the
door. A gut feeling. He isn't upset she is leaving or talking about it....and that would be something he would OCD about. Only reason not too..is if
he wouldn't be missing her because he is going with her. I have lost all trust with him, but I do hang onto hope.

The snow is really coming down out there....not much, but accumulating.

OH MY Gosh!!! What fantastic news i heard last night!! My Friend Dianne just finished her last bout of chemo!! She is really happy about that and Lets pray it knocked out her cancer.

Morning all, see that nobody posted, must mean that you are all slow moving today just as I am..still in my jammies, doing a bit, sitting, sewing and taking the odd call for work..rather enjoyable.

Talk about frigid out there, sub-zero temps for sure. Plowman was here early, normally I go out and move my vehicle so he can take a 2nd swipe at the drive but decided I wouldn't. Guess we got about 2" of snow.

Did I tell you we lost 2 lives here due to bad ice conditions..one a man in his 40's and a young man 19 years old..like to say 'where are their brains' with the spring temps we've had to be out on the bay is pure stupidity..young man was walking, snowmobiling maybe, walking, shaking my head 'that's a no/no' Feel so badly for the families.

Working on my quilt top, taking a bit longer than I had thought but I'd only start something else so what is the difference, work on this piece or another..wanted to make 2, one for Melanie and 1 for Julie, we'll see how this one goes.



Tomorrow, unless a blizzard, will go to Buffalo as she has clothing to return to Kohl's and I sure could do with a trip to Joann's and the new little quilt shop I found.

Debbie, you may be right..mother's instincts are usually pretty good and yes, why would he not be fretting over her move unless something is amiss..let's hope we are both wrong! Do you know where she is moving?
