Morning all, thought I'd start a new thread...
Came from here:
http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1292312/
Who has the sunshine, best we gather in a room further south as it's raining here..
Waiting for daylight so I can go get some totes in the back shed..few things that can be stored and today seems like the day to do it.
Debbie, that's too precious, Paul thinking of the Sistah's gathering lol we must have treated him well for him to be thinking of joining in again..we'll be counting the months soon as Marion gives us our dates so we can plan. Have you heard anything negative or positive Debbie about the Alligient Airline that flies out of Buffalo, think it flies out of the little airport closer to where I always stay?? Need to book some flights.
Shane must be playing heavy on your mind..one day both of you will look back at these times and give each other a hug..armwraps for you my friend. Glad the girls are trying to keep him on the straight and narrow.
Missy says she's content to just sleep in today..raining, why get up???
As I have cleaning my computer and lap top of the past 3 weeks on messages, I'm ready for business, spending the day at home.. guess I'll be playing in my craft room ..just might and it's a small might..clean a closet seeing as Thunder brought up cleaning..drats, shouldn't I have a house cleaner..lol
Best/Worse/What I did learn today? Chat with friends..
Good morning! Don't work too hard Betty!
Good morning! I can't believe I'm first to post! In all my time here on DG I've never been first that I can remember!!
Paul needs to think "South" Deb. Florida it is this year!!!
Edited to add - LK beat me to it!!!!!
This message was edited Jan 11, 2013 8:15 AM
Morning Barb, did not mean to beat you! ^_^
Hi LK How did you make out at the back doctor? Hope all is well....
I did good, I just have to go every few months for a follow up, and get a new script for meds.
Well what do you two girls have on your agenda today??
Barb, are you getting this March weather? How is Norm doing, think of him and you often..
LindaKay, great that they keep tabs on you.
I've just cut out fabric to start sewing the strips of blocks for my morning glory project and will continue to do it here and there between work, likely more sewing than work.
Went to the back shed in my nighty, raining, poor shrubs will be wondering what to do in the spring weather..as I carried totes back I though ' and you wonder why you have a sore back!' Don't we do it to ourselves.
I think I will work on one of Barbs tote bags and see how it comes out!
Was thinking the same, when I get tired of doing blocks I'll look for fabric
Good morning, everyone. .Hugs all around to warm up. It's chilly here and we have some clouds cover but it will probably clear up soon.
Not much going on here. I'm still very low energy and, with all the flu that's going around, I'm not fighting it. One of the Twilight movies was on TV last night. I've never seen one so I tuned in. Watched the first few minutes, fell asleep, woke up to watch the last five minutes.
Wanted to discuss something with Tony yesterday so we went in the only warm room, my bedroom. As we stood to talk all four dogs gathered around, making it quite crowded. I ordered them out and, being the obedient furbaries that they are, Max stayed by my feet while the three girls jumped up on my captain's bed and lined up sitting down looking like a row of anxious-to-learn happy students. It broke us up.
We might be able to further expand our hilltop. It would cost something (we need to find that out) and destroy a lot of the hardscaping which we've done over the past six years or whatever I've been here. Not a lot of money but we've worked a lot on things like stairways of tires to make it safe to walk around. We'll see what they say about cost. I have enough trees ready to plant that we could fill an orchard if the hilltop gets expanded. If not we will terrace the arroyo. We want to check out the possibility of expansion first as we had to dig up the trees that were in the way of the work they did already.
Wish I felt more energetic but I am not pushing myself. Too easy to get really sick.
At least I'll get dressed. Then go from there.
hugs, katie
Forgot to say that Max snapped at me last night. I pushed his head down on yelled "no." A month ago I would not have dared to try that as he was so out-of-control. Last night he stopped struggling almost immediately and was all right. I'll continue to be very careful but I think we may be making progress.
kb
Tired tired tired.....slept on the couch last night as Izzy was having some issues. She was fine once I came down here to sleep! I made her stay on her bed in the kitchen, but she laid down and slept and quit her barking. However the kitties thought it was play time and I was used as a trampoline.
Paul worries about taking me south he will come back alone! lol
I have a picture to share. My Mom always knew how much I loved sunrises and sunsets!
This is the sunrise she sent me on Jan. 9th....which was her birthday. I think it was a good morning from her!
Just beautiful Deb. I still, after 25 years, miss my Mom too. I was so fortunate to have a Mom like her. My goal in my life was to be half the person she was.... Hope I made it.
From all I have read here, I think there is a band of proud Mothers out there. (((HUGS)))
I stumbled on an interesting bit of info....had a couple friends tease and say I should be happy to have the rain and not snow......So I looked up the equivalent volume of rain and snow. According to this link, 1 inch of rain is equal to 10 inches of snow......WOW I am go glad we are getting rain cuz if it was snow, we would have almost 7 feet on the ground now as we have gotten over 8 inches of rain. The cold front that was moving in and causing all the rain got here, found all this moist warm air, liked it and decided to hang around yesterday....today it changed its mind, became a warm front and is moving back across our area with more rain.....

Katie, sounds like Max is slowing figuring out that you are Alpha. Hope you feel better soon.
LK, glad you had a good trip and are back home safe.
Debbie, all you can do is love them and hope they see the light sooner rather than later. Hugs to you and Paul.
Susan, I hope you are enjoying your job....fingers crossed that it lasts as long as you need it.
Hope you all have a good weekend.
Jean
Was thinking the same this morning Jean..it's still raining, didn't check the temps but know I walked to back shed several times without a coat (Debbie will shake her finger) and I wasn't chilled (typing this as I'm coughing)
Been watching the news, were saying what this flu was costing employers and government, in the billions wow
Debbie, you just have to know it's your mom sending you her very best and to let you know she's fine, always by your side..wasn't it last year on her birthday or your birthday that you saw her special bird?? was it a cardinal or blue bird?
Katie, seems you are making headway, but don't be too confident, still worry that you will come out the worse with Max.
Heated the kettle 3 times and still haven't made a coffee, keep flittering from thing to thing and forget so this time I shall sit on the couch, have my coffee and see what the next step to my project will be
Debbie it is definitely south but in the northern part of the state. All are welcome and do tell Paul I have a paddle boat (sorry not a larger row boat) and he can sit in the middle of the lake and enjoy the sun or rest on the dock if he so desires.
I haven't decided on a date due to several on going issues but mainly what is going to be done with my knee. Thinking early part of June......Kim wants to be here and she isn't out until the last of May.
I have the sunshine Betty and the warm temps also. Going for upper 70 or 80 today. Makes me want to get outside and plant, plant, plant but that is a no-no in more ways than one. LOL
Dad made it through surgery, he is still in recovery, but everything went fine!
Thanks for all the prayers!
Wonderful news LK. Prayers continue for his recovery and return to better health. Hugs to you as I know you are relieved.
Very relieved! Thanks!
Oh Linda, what a relief. I know just the beginning, but a good step forward! Were they able to safe his leg?
Good news, LK. Glad to hear it. kb
OMG had meant to ask when the operations was today and completely forgot..apologies, friends don't forget those kinds of things..I am so glad for you LindaKay, you must have been waiting on baited breath for the call...
Asking as well, were they able to save his toe/leg?
They replaced the bad artery in his leg, and removed the bad toe! They saved the leg, at least for now. We just have to wait and see if the blood flow will work as they hoped it will, to heal the removed toe.
Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers!
Hello everyone!!
LK so glad he made it through surgery! Poor guy lost his toe but it's better than the whole leg, hopefully this worked!
Debbie it sounds pretty good that she is leaving and hopefully he won't follow her. If he does I have a feeling that he'll be back, he can't seem to make it on his own yet, he's made some very very bad decisions in the past. Some of us just grow slower than others, I know I did. And LOL LOL LOL Paul!!! Well I guess that you'll be going to Marion's!! WOOHOOO I'm going to try to get there this year but I can't promise anything. I need to make more money somehow.
Betty I think that I'm just going to move in with you, just sell my house and here I come!! LOL!!
Hope everyone is doing ok and staying well! I had that flu and it's nasty, fever for 4 days and now I have pneumonia, got a steroid shot the day before yesterday and antibiotics for it, my 5th round of antibiotics in 4 1/2 months for different things, so we'll see. I can hear and feel the congestion in my lungs and all I do is cough. I just took some MucinexMD Extra Strength so hopefully that does something!
So sorry to hear you are feeling poorly Crissy. This flu thing is horrible this time around. Take care and try to get as much rest as you can....
Linda Kay, I'm so happy to hear Dad made it thorugh surgery. It will be a trial for a while. Both my Mom and my brother have had by-pass surgeries and both came through okay. I'm keeping him and all your family in my prayers....
LindaKay, that better news than you expected..now you wait to make sure everything works..am sure this has been tough on you..
Doing the happy dance Crissy, sure do miss you..sorry to hear you aren't feeling the best.
You just come on girl, pack those bags, likely your experience would bring you better $$$ here and you know the door is always open and a bed waiting just for you.
Drats don't you hate it when you sew all day and the outcome is that it isn't what you wanted or didn't turn out like you though it would..anybody have any experience with dye's
If you really want to dye something you should talk to melody she works for DG she does all kinds of dyeing . she is part of dg admin. not sure how you would get in touch???
nice to see you crissy, sure hope you get all better soon !!!
well, prior to doing that Thunder might try a few avenues one of which you gave me..
I have never used fabric dyes. Hope you find something that works!
Hey Crissy! Sorry to hear your not feeling well! Hope you get better soon.
Barb, I have two of the bags cut out, I will get them sewn tomorrow, then post for you to see.

LK I was so happy to hear that the surgery went well for you Dad. Now that the bad toe is gone maybe he can begin to heal.
I really felt bad over New Year's; don't know why, just didn't want to do anything but sit, watch TV and sleep. But one day last week I woke up and got my "Go" back. I cleaned the carpet where the cat had gotten sick AGAIN! I cleaned out my office and threw away stuff I don't use as well as cleaning out the files. Today I sorted through all my fabric (when did I buy all of this?) and tried to arrange all of it by color, etc. I still have some to go through and resort but I got a handle on it. Even have room for more.Tee Hee
Tomorrow will be take down the Christmas decoration but leave up some of the snowmen so it doesn't look so drab. I'll do all that while we have temps in the 60's! Sunday, back to winter with 40's but tomorrow we all go dance in the sun.
yaaaaaaaaaay - glad your dad's surgery went well! Now, to see that the blood flow is right, too!
Crissy - you get better soon now, y'hear!!
Job's going well, but in the meantime I have an interview on Wed at 2pm with another company! Will be the only office support - VP of Engineering and President/CEO are the only others in the office, so I could run it myself! And when they're travelling to Africa, I'd be by my lonesome! I'd have to figure out how to keep myself busy lol
Start 3 days/week, then when it gets busy, I'd go to 5 days/week......
Anyway, we'll see what the interview brings..... next week.
This job I'm covering for - well, they haven't started interviewing yet, and the HR rep is short-listing (no interviews yet, so I guess I'm still in the running.....)
L.K I am so glad your dad made it though his surgery. I have been thinking about him all day wondering how he made out.Sending prayers of comfort and strength.
Lots of rain and freezing rain mixed all day. The lane is a mess. Sure was glad I didn't have to go out today. I had to walk down to a neighbour's to check on something for her and it was treacherous walking. Poor MLcalled from Gravenhurst saying she thinks she left her suitcase on her porch and would I go check. She is the neighbour whose husband died suddenly in December. She hadn't left the bag outside as she feared but she is without clothes and her toiletries for the weekend. Not a biggie I am positive they have stores in Gravenhurst - right Betty?
Crissy girl it is so good to see you. Sorry you have been feeling punky this last while. Take good care of yourself please.
Sending positive thoughts Susan that your interview goes well.
Katie how is your thumb? Hope it is healing well. Does Max snap at the other dogs too or is it just you Katie? I had a dog years ago who acted much the same as Max. The poor thing died of a massive heart attack the very first and I might add the last time I kenneled my dogs. She would snap if she was surprised. I slept for months with her on the floor beside the bed and my hand through her collar. Not great for sleeping but better than worrying Cassie would snap.
Need to clean up the kitchen. I just don't understand how it can get so messy with just 1 person using it but messy it gets.No good fairy is coming to do the job for me so off I go.
Sweet dreams everyone.
Dianne
Hey Janice, sounds like tou have been sorting? It is amazing how we accumulate so much stuff over the years!
Dianne, sure hope your friend can find the items she needs for the week end? Wonder where she left her bag? Did you ever get the UPS driver straightened out?
Yes LK I finally got UPS sorted out. Well a seasoned UPS driver sorted it out. Guess he took a strip off of the new guy and told the kid he needed to have a better work ethic and take some pride in his work. The early morning UPS driver is outstanding - it would have to be absolutely horrendous conditions for him not to make it down the lane .
My neighbour left her bag right inside the side door along with a bottle of pepsi she was drinking LK.
Mary, where are you darlin? How are things at work for you now? Watched Son of Gun last night and of course that show makes me think of you.
Soon going to head to bed to read. Starting to feel a bit weary but what do you bet as soon as I close my eyes I will be wide awake.
Dianne
Betty, should you decide to contact Melody about dyeing projects, her D-mail address is Melody. She is very friendly and has always been very helpful.
Marion, hope the knee is doing better....please be kind to it....ya really do need it to be tip top to keep playing in the dirt...grin
Hope you all have a lovely weekend...take care and be safe.
Jean
Hello Dianne and all ! Just lurking... was a difficult week. (HUGS)
((((Mary))))
Morning all,
Was just about to send the thread police after you Mary..sending positive vibes and hugs..you know we are here for you just as you've been for us!
Guess Dianne you got all the freezing rain..we got the rain and with the melting of the snow and ground partially frozen what a mess in the yard. Here is hoping for no flooding. Laughed at your comment about living alone and a mess, often thought Roger and the biys were the main cause but I must have been wrong because some days the house sure can get disorganized. Yes, the loveliest of boutiques in gravenhurst..maybe she will be pleased she left her bag behind.
You should of travelled with her, you could have spent weekend with me!
Janice, always hard over the holidays, glad you pushed yourself right out of that black hole..hasn't been that many years since you moved and purged, don't you ask yourself just how you manage to fill the house again. I'm amazed at how much fabric I managed to use the last 6 months..bought some more Friday and hoping to make about six sets of six placemats at least the sewing of them and do there here and there to fill in my day..perhaps there is a pattern/patterns you've wanted to do and now that you are more energetic it's time to get at it..ohhh won't be long now that Stacey will have that little one. I think that it should be her last pregnancy as she has so many health issues during pregnancy.
Jean, I certainly will contact Melanie if I decide to go that route.
LindaKay, did you sew those bags?
Best get a move on, Linda (cousin/SIL) is coming about 8am to spend the day, she wants to make a rag quilt or at least start the process, then, I was talking with Rita, hard Christmas for her, hubby acting up, think that marriage is all but done,sad.. She asked if she could join us, I loaned her my accuquilt, mshe has a blanket 1/2 done so guess I'll have a full day...won't be lonely for sure.
Best I get moving, want to get the floors done before Linda gets here..those kitties with rain/mud have left footprints from one end of the house to the other...there finally someone I can blame for the unkept floors..
Gab later
Sounds like a busy day for you Betty. We are having Sean for the day and overnight so Mom and Dad can get away for a night. So it will be tacos and movies I'm sure.
Hoping things get better Mary. We really miss hearing from you.
Glad to know your neighbor did not lose her suitcase Dianne!!! But it can be a challenge to replace only what you need!
We are still looking for a more inexpensive place to hang our hats. We will go look at two more this weekend. There is sure to be just the right place for Norm, the cat and the sewing machine! You know, the one I am attached to!!!!!
My heart is so sad about Dorothy (LaVonne). She Is a wonderful spirit.
I'm off for muffins for breakfast. Hope everyone has a great day....
Do you mean the cat Barb lol
Good luck with house hunting Barb, here's hoping the perfect place will be one of the two you will look at this weekend. What a fun weekend you will have with Sean..can see you smilling from here.
I did not read any updates re Dorothy????
Mary, thinking of you this morning, sending warm hugs in hopes that today will be filled with sunshine... life is not easy is it!!!
Linda is running about a 1/2 hr late..she needs an operation on her wrist/hand, waiting for a date..said she was up all night in s evere pain..lordy, how will she sew, guess I'll be sewing and she will be watching
