I hear about my wife's patients and am truly amazed at the fighting spirit. 19 yr olds who become quadriplegic because of their own recklessness go from wanting to die to not only working so hard to adapt and live a full life but to help others in their situation. Very inspiring.

I can't imagine being the doctor participating. Maybe after they HAD gone blind, and could say what they endured...

I sort of compare to this case, but in this case they at least were trying the seperation surgery to lead normal lives. But there was a huge risk of death.

I don't think one of us can fairly say what it's like to be deaf AND then become blind too. Can you imagine the lack of input from the world? I can't. Don't deaf people rely on vision to help overcome deafness?
