$$ SWEET INTERRUPTIONS $$ # 251

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

That blue thing will keep you from bending the wrist while allowing you to start to move the fingers. Everything looks nice and clean - no sign of infection. When do the steristrips on the thumb come off?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I got her from a neighbor of my son in San Antonio, he was holding her as she belonged to his Mom, and she could not keep her in the apartment anymore, so they has to find a new gome for her. They just never took her to the vet for proper care and shots. Please pray that the meds work for her.

Glad to hear you got the cast off your hand, bet that feels good.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Boy I know getting that cast off was a relief Cindy. I hated wearing the cast when I had my hands done.

LK, that is really sad news about Luna......here is hoping she responds and things clear up soon. It does bother me when people don't take care of their pets and let things like that happen.

Kathy, scary about the schools. I worry so about Kim teaching high school. She had a student threaten her just before the break but he was put out of school and I think the sheriffs department was notified.

Cold here but thankfully the winds have died down some. Lots of huge limbs down, thankfully no damage to anything. Close call on one near the edge of the carport roof but in this case and inch is as good as a mile so they say.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

So glad to hear that branch missed the carport Marion!
Hope you were able to get all your wrapping done with the kids with you Kathy! I agree, pretty sad there are so many school threats right now. We are having them here in Texas too! Don't know what is wrong with these people! My DIL is seriously thinking of keeping her daughter home for home schooling.

3 more days till Christmas! Hope your all getting things ready? I need to go get our turkey today!

Happy Birthday Pegi! Hope you have a great day!

And wishes for many many more Pegi.....

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

i'm just about set. got a few things left to wrap, got my prime rib yesterday, and got to bake the pies, then i'm threw

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Morning everyone!

Stay safe and warm today!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Good morning sistahs.

Aww poor Luna. She truly needs a miracle to pull her out of this one, LK, being that she's still a pup and the resistance isn't as strong as an adult. Did say prayers for the precious and yes, heartworm treatments, especially if she's getting shots for that.. will be very costly. I'm sure the vet must have advised to keep Luna calm for several weeks.
Activity and excitement isn't good for her, coughing need to be avoided.

If I could fly out there, Sis Kathy.. you'll have to set another plate for me!! I want that end cut of your Prime Rib roast, with au jus, s'il vous plait, madame!!

You sure don't need added expenses after having to redo your kitchen Marion.
Glad that limb missed the carport.

Cindy, it's a wonder you haven't bejewel that blue thingy!! You'll soon be on your way to handle the bike!

Happy Birthday dear, dear Pegi!!! Wishing you all that's to be enjoyed on your special day.

Waving back Cookie!!

Was at Myrtle Beach last night and didn't expect chilly winds that cut me through the bone. Alas, my head wasn't protected and I'm getting a head cold!!
On top of this, Kel discovered this morning that his billfold is missing.
So, Monday, he had to report to the drivers license and social security offices. Debit card's in the wallet too, but that's not too easy to use since security numbers are needed.
Keep telling that man you NEVER place your SS card together with your DL. A smart aleck that replied that's the way he had always been doing. And yes, this will be the second time he lost his important cards :D Will he do it again.. you can bet yes.
There were no cash so no worries on that.
But he will have to go through the inconvenience and time taken to take care of this!

Yep.. still planning on goose dinner for Christmas with spaetzles and a good strudel!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Thanks for all the good wish for Luna, yes the vet told us to keep her calm! YEAH right. try keeping a 1 year old pup still! We took her toys and balls away from her, so she does not run and chase them, but there are still stray kitties outside the fence, and that drives her nuts! So now we put her on a leash when she has to go outside to go potty.
Sorry to hear that Kel lost his wallet. When was the last time he used it?
Barb and Norm are busy baking cookies, Kathy is making pies, and prime rib, Jaye is making goose! It all sounds delicious! Wish we were all closer to make the rounds and sample it all!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

I don't do big special meals anymore LK!!! No, no.. no.
Goose at a German restaurant! Cheaper to eat there then to buy a whole goose at 65 bucks!! Kel doesn't care for goose, and he love the sausages there. Only at Christmas, goose is served.
Do you have a crate to contain Luna? That might keep her calm.

He hasn't searched the grounds around here, but last place he had it taken out was at Myrtle Beach WM. I just reminded him to look again at his shop, as he had stopped at the back of his shop before heading for home.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Hope you called your bank right away, to report it missing!
No, we don't have a crate, she is inside most of the time, stealing Todd's spot on the sofa! So far she is being pretty good!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Not good about the wallet! Men just never learn, do they Jaye.

Well, Kim and I have a standing rib roast for us and also a spiral cut ham. The hams were at Costco and a good price so we treated ourselves to a small one. Not sure what we are doing but will be fine if it is just the 2 of us. She is still a little weak from the "bug" and of course, today I am having troubles hobbling around. Yesterday did me in!! Jaye, will have to just pass on the goose.

LK, I can only imagine trying to keep a year old pup quiet. Hope she improves quickly.

Waving to all...need to make a run to the grocery store then it will be snuggling in for the next few days.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Sorry Kel lost his wallet!
LK - poor Luna........and you, while you're waiting for her health to improve!
Cindy - thank goodness for that "blue thing" - is blue your fav colour? Glad you got the cast off..... those things are ITCHY
Marion - yaaaaaaaaaay for Kim feeling better! Of course she'll be a little weak yet, until she's eaten more complete meals.

Just got back from my new Dr, who gave me results of all the tests he sent me for. All I can say is Thank You, New Dr!! I didn't realize how lax my old Dr was....... and how much he missed.
1. No prob on mammogram
2. No prob on pap smear
3. no prob on my iron (although the lab didn't send any other blood tests back to my Dr and he'll research that)
4. no prob on my colon cancer test
5. however..... I do have osteopenia, which is a forerunner for osteoporosis.... This is something my previous Dr didn't check for, and he knows I sprained my knee 2 1/2 years ago and was in walking pain - it wasn't healing.
There is no treatment for it, but to take massive doses of Vitamin D (4,000 IU/day).
My Dr said it's not "written in stone" that this will lead to osteoporosis, but that taking Vit D and staying active is going to help.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Great report from you new doc Susan. I do think that sometimes they take the easy way out and throw you a pill for the symptoms instead of finding the cause. Sounds like he had a good head on his shoulders...If you think about it, we live here in the north and we don't get the sun like we should plus I think we don't drink enough milk to get good vitamins and calcium. Supplements can be good but I think we need the real thing..... I can understand taking massive doses of Vitamin D but not for a long period of time...maybe long enough to jump start your system again..In any case, I'm glad you getting answers.
How is the job going?

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Job's going fine, thanks for asking, Barb!

Actually, re: Vit D - we should Always take it, cuz we never get enough naturally.
Esp people of colour as their skin colour blocks the sun's rays.....
Women over 50 need to take Vit D all the time because after 30 your density gets worse. If you have good bone density at 30, you're better than most, but most of us don't have the best we can have.
You're right about northerners - we just don't get enough sun. And, as my sister said, even if we stayed out in the sun naked, we wouldn't get enough from the sun. Also she said - people would pay for the Vitamin D pills so she Wouldn't go outside naked LOL Me too.......... LOL People would definitely pay for the vitamin pills LOL

My Dr also said being active is the best thing for osteopenia, and my other sister (Alice) was diagnosed with it a couple of years ago and took a lot of Vit D and Calcium, plus walking and now her BD test showed well - no more osteopenia!!

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

Jaye, I don't do big meals, I don't do small meals....help a little here and there, butttttt mostly I don't do any meals :) Dave and Waylon do the cooking !!!

Well I am off to work, and the chaos of Christmas shoppers, Y'all think of me today while you're resting, relaxing, sewing, or what ever... Send me some good vibes ! I think it is gonna be a crazy day !!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Don't work too hard Thunder! Enjoy your time with the family!

Susan so glad you have a great Dr. and wonderful news on the test he did. Vit D also needs to be taken with Calcium ? if i m not mistaken.
well had a fun night with friends last night. Drank to much Baileys ! and its good with coke ! its like a rootbeer float and if you add ice cream and whip cream its even better !!!! , then we hit the wine bottle. oh Lawdy Lawdy it got fun after that. We talked and talked. laughed and laughed.
but my head hurts today :(
one more thing Susan . eat kale , its a super food and cheap and yummy. stir fry it, make soup with it all kinds of yummy stuff. ITs a power house of nutrients for weak bones in general. Dr. Oz approved too.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Oh Sue, I feel your pain! Well not really but at least the important words were there...oh Lawdy Lawdy it got fun after that. Sounds like you enjoyed yourself....good for you.

No getting out into the chaos of last minute shoppers at this house. Kim and I went in town yesterday to try and get an issue resolved with her Nook.......yikes, what a madhouse even in the book store. I sent Kim a gift ebook for Christmas not knowing she had already bought it for herself. Long story, short version......the outsource people apparently have no concept of English and ended up completely stripping all the books off of her Nook. Only was asking for a credit for another book as she had not downloaded the gift book I sent. Barnes and Noble had even more problems speaking with their accounts group!!!! Well finally got a credit but she had to spend last night reloading all her books. So much for the effectiveness of outsourcing!

Hope everyone is having a wonderful day....oh I am enjoying my Baileys LK. Baileys and Peppermint coffee....what a breakfast.

Good Morning Sistahs All!!

First things first

To the Angel who appeared in my Dg Mail box thank you! THANK YOU!!!
It was such a delightfully joyous moment that you touched my heart!
A firm beleiver in Miricles and Angelsand I am honored to be apart of
DG family for another year!! I am so lucky..and I just love you, all.

I promise to be a.better sistah.

WITH LOVE Peace
And of Course Giant ARMWRAPS
Judy...

E back later with a post youll wish Id shutup,lol..

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Agreeing to what Barb says, Susan.
And I'd take some calcium along with Vit. D. The funny part is calcium works better if taken with magnesium!!
Kale is delicious, I certainly can do kale everyday!

Sue, another idea what one can do with Bailey's? Oh my.. if it tastes like root beer float, it got to be good.
You need more happy headaches like that sistah!!! Rest your head.. or better still.. make you a virgin bloody Mary!!

No, I shan't enter your Walmart, Thunder. It will be the Whiteville WM in North Carolina!!
Yes, I can imagine the madness for the next few weeks, especially after Christmas with returns!!

MaidM, that's how I feel when having to deal with outsourced technical helpers. Couple of times, when I had Indians over the phone, it's easier to get recipes for Vindaloo curry than real answers to the technical issues at hand!! Lolol!!
Is Kim finally over her cold?

Sistah Judy, no one here dares to tell you to shut up!!! Your postings are always read with smiles!! You're already a good sistah with the love you gave to us!!

LK, enjoy your day with your family. I can already smell the fried turkey!

Still undecided to get a Nook, as I love to dog ear the books I'm reading!
Well, got to get Kel up.. we're off for a Sunday dinner at a local diner. Nope no church today. I still haven't forgiven my church for promoting politics on the pulpit!! Lol!!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Kim is pretty much over her cold but still touchy about what she eats. She tires easily but that is to be expected.
Funny you should mention Indians as that is where Kim was connected with the customer service site for her Nook. Jaye, I love my Nook, everyone has their own personal choice of the ereaders but I happen to like the Nook.

Enjoy your dinner. I made cabbage soup the other day as Kim said it sounded good. Well it only sounded good as when it came time to eat......no go! Hopefully she will be able to eat some today as I am not in the mood to cook a great deal today. Standing is not on the agenda with the knee today.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Evening all,

Sending a hi from Fort Myers, Florida..relaxing today, not doing much of anything except making a list of groceries need for Christmas dinner for Darlene and I..she is bustling around like crazy organizing everything while I sit checking threads, looking at a new quilting magazine, time to start next Christmas's projects lol and making a list for Joann's tomorrow...knew I should have brought a sewing machine, already bored..

Sure hope those of you not feeling the best get healthy quick quick, you know Santa arrives tomorrow night?

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Kale, yes! have had it, and it's good!
Magnesium - absolutely need to take it with Calcium! S'funny, but I really do eat a lot of calcium rich food - lots of cheese, yogurt, spinach, avocados, salads galore, soup with milk, bread enriched with calcium, and oatmeal with milk. Surprised I don't have too much calcium, in fact.... ah well, guess you can never get too much....
the meds I've been on since I was 13 are very hard on my calcium and iron intake and so I make sure I get a lot of the extra foods I need to counter-balance that.

Judy - I agree - I have a DG angel too, who has made sure I get on here for yet another year!! What would we do without such wonderful angels?!?! Thank you, my dear angel!!!

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

Jaye I have a kindle, and I just love it!! cover has a built in light, and I can read in bed with it without disturbing the hubs... he used to always say the noise of turning pages kept him awake.

Thank you DG angels...we all get pressies with those gifts as we get to keep our DG !!!!!♥♥♥♥

MERRY CHRISTMAS

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Seems like the "Little Angel" was very busy this year as I was on that luck list also. Thank you so much for your thoughtfulness and I love you to pieces who ever you are!

Merry Christmas everyone.

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Merry Christmas Ladies,

Gonna brave the crowds and do last minute food shopping ugh. Taking Doug's moma nd stepsister to dinner tonight.

Latest pic of my Brug after the rain finally stopped after 3 days..such a sad looking thing lol

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Off to visit my "sweetie" with some beautiful flowers for his Christmas.

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Aw Marion....wish Ross a Merry Christmas from me, too! Love you, girl!

I'm also a lucky, lucky girl with an angel and I thank her once again!!

Still baking and candy making...will it ever stop????????

Merry Christmas SISTAHS far and near!!! Love you all to pieces!!

LK, did you take pictures of yesterday's gathering sister?

Betty, Betty.... How could you think of sewing during your vacation ??? This is one legitimate excuse for you NOT to do anything but enjoy NOTHINGNESS!!!
In boredom, there's the relaxing of your overworked mind :D

Well, Thunder.. Marion.. can you download magazines on your Nook and then print out the pages needed? If I could do that, I might get one.

Cookie, I am just glad that I don't live close to you when you're in that baking zone!! Trying to maintain my Angelina Jolie physique will be so hard!!

What did you have Cindy? Let me guess, prime rib!!

Susan, if only there's just one pill to cure everything.. Alas, we have to keep track on what's beneficial for what and just eating natural foods isn't good enough at our age.

Are they milking goats, Sue? Or are they Austin and Savannah babysitters?? Lol!! Lucy will have new friends to butt head with!

Sis Kathy.. I know you'd be resting this evening with all that cooking!!

Barb and Norm.. Faye and Ray.. Pegi and Darwin..
you all have seen some challenges this year. May you all get to enjoy the new year with good health!

God loves us so much that He gave His life for us.
I thank God that He loves me so much that He made sure I have fabulous sisters here!!

And I thank Him too for my angels.. ^_^

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Merry Christmas everyone!!! It is snowing here - only enough to cover the ground and make it look pretty. Had a wonderful evening at my daughter's home last night with one of our sons and his family. Had Chinese and opened presents to each other and then had a wonderful time toasting marshmallows and singing around the fire pit. It was so nice. My little ones are growing so fast - I have no babies anymore. Today we will go back and have our Christmas with my daughter and family and then our traditional prime rib dinner. God is good.

Norm and I want to wish all of you a very Merry Christmas. We are so grateful to all of you for helping us through this year. It has been long but we are looking forward to a much better 2013 and we know with your love and prayers, it will be so. We wish you all health, peace and happiness for the coming year and we pray to continue this wonderful bond that we all have together. We think of all of you as our family. God bless you...
Barb and Norm

Victoria Harbour, ON

Merry Christmas everyone..

Hope santa was good to you..

has been no mention of Merry Christmas here..like its not today..understand Darlene's wish to get through it as just another day but it's made me lonesome for home and traditions!

Will be heading to the beach shortly, going to be in the 80's then we'll cook turkey and the trimmings and have a late supper.

Jaye, more than thinking sewing..bought fabric for a project in the magazine I bought..no sewing machine but did feel Santa would want me to get a machine..bought one with 12" throat..say it's a great one made just for quilting..hard not to get exactly what you want when you are your own Santa. Lol

Do enjoy the day..

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

MERRY CHRISTMAS! hugs and best wishes to all

Merry Christmas Ladies!!!

Jaye, no we didn't have Prime Rib, the resturant did NOT cook a roast, no baked potaoes, no onion rings, bartender didn't know how to make a King Alfonse or a hot buttered rum. We almost got up and walked out, but after I pointed out to everyone...It's Christmas Eve and a lot of places are closing early. Took forever to get our dinner, Doug's mom wanted her steal med rare and it was well done, I wanted my steak med, it was rare, they were so coated with pepper that the first bite your mouth was on fire. I told them they had better not charge us $2.99 for the salad bar either. Well they didn't and also did not charge us for Doug's mom's dinner.............

Heading to my daughter's don't know what is on the menu but I am making creamed caulflower and a green salad, easy peasy lol

Hope YOU all have a BLESSED day

HUGGS,
