Not a bright sunny day here neither Betty. But at least we're not in any hurricane's path. It's cool at 67* for me, but Kel's in shorts and a muscle shirt.
As usual, not handing out any candy as we don't get tricksters coming here. Too secluded. So just one bar of Hershey's Cookies and Cream for me, and one giant Hershey's chocolate for Kel to enjoy Halloween!! Lol.
One day, we'll make that drive to see you, Betty. Kel's been talking of a trip to NY. Who knows.. that detour will be so much fun!

Sis Kathy, Death Valley is THE place where opponents' dreams came to DIE!! Maybe Saban will win this year.. since we have a new and unimproved QB.

Susan, us Southern gals are very passionate about our football, especially college football. God, Football, Family, and Country.. in that order for us!!

LOL well, some Northern gals are passionate about their hockey AND football (mostly hockey), as I found out when I moved to Calgary. it's a real "sports" mecca....... and I'm not a real sports fan LOL
I was told 2 distinct things when I moved to Alberta:
1. either ride a horse, or your Alberta visa will be rescinded and you'll have to move back to Manitoba (no, we don't Really have visas within Canada)
2. You'll have to get to like sports in Calgary as it's so sports-oriented....... and they don't have any artsy-fartsy kind of stuff here!!

Susan, I believe you on that ice hockey stuffs.
I've met Canadians in Singapore and they can get to blows when it comes to discussing hockey!

OMg, we got upgrades on the cell phones, everyone got iphones and so Ihave been having fun watching Jake show dad how to use it! LOL I asked Jake how he figured out the phone so quick...roflol, he said I was born in this generation!! I got Steves old phone,which is still fairly new, woohoo, I have a keyboard to text with...big cheesy grin, I am so with the times, lol at least last years, perfect for me, eh.

Judy - you & my DH & I are SO in sync......... we just got a phone with a keyboard for texting.......... about 3 months ago LOL We're not up to the "times" on purpose...... 1. costs more when you buy just as they come out. 2. Refuse to be a 2nd level Beta tester. 3. When a product has been on the market for awhile, you're more likely to have one you really want (ie: one that will work for you).

We have been hacked!! We don't own any Apple product. and charges for purchases of ITunes have been charged to our debit card.

"They" stole $42 from us!!!

I checked online, and it appears that this kind of fraud has been going on since May of this year.
Can't do nothing right now, but will definitely close our account on Monday.

Normally, I would check our financial accounts every Sunday.. and the first charge was on Wednesday. Once the new card is issued, I'll be checking it daily.
So, please check your account!

Tim had that happen to him from Itunes . OUr credit card dropped the charges . But it is scary .

Sue, so it happened to you too? We are extremely cautious with our cards. Most of the time, I use Paypal, and I realised that the only time I used the card was for an Amazon purchase last week. Could it be that's where it was swiped?
Think I'll go the old fashion way if PP not accepted. Yes, this is scary

My account is ok, too.
I only use my "fill 'n go" credit card, and never leave any funds on it until I need them, then I transfer about $5 above (in case of extra taxes or shipping) and transfer back the balance except for $0.99 cents.......
I never use anything but my online banking for paying regular bills.

Yeah, they will most likely have you close that account, and open a new one, with new debit cards and such!

Jaye, you need to try and get ahold of someone at Itunes, and let them know what is going on. Todd say's if you have a pay pal account, transfer all your funds there, maybe that will stop them?

LK, apparently they know already, as many are complaining that this has been going on for years and Apple doesn't do anything.
Anything that accepts PP, I normally use that. Except that one time as Amazon has stored my debit card info, so it was easier. And that wasn't the first time I used it.
PP withdraws directly from my checking acct., just like the use of a debit card. But PP is safer as it provides 100% protection against unauthorized payments. And I think it uses "encryption" technology (Mr. Kel's words).

Tim called his visa bank card. They took off the charges and then gave him a new card.

My bank site uses encryption software, and I've used it for YEARS with no problem. Not to say it couldn't happen.....
My DD Michelle had her debit card copied and $500 worth of charges applied to it. She called the bank right away (she checks her account regularly) and they found that 3 people had their card "used" from when she went to a cinema - one of the clerks was "duplicating" the card and using it. They were caught & jailed. As she had pre-authorized debits coming out, the bank covered her for it, as the $$ wasn't going to be returned to her account for a week. She had enough for regular purchases on it, in the account.

if you buy something through an online site, using your computer and have more than one tab, or window open....that is what leaves a "space" in your computer for crooks to get in....and they can get whatever info you are doing on each site / window / tab........

I got "hacked" a few years ago, luckily the bank covered it all, as it was a LOT of money !! a techie guy at the bank told me about the windows, tabs thing.....before that I was always doing all kinds of things with many tabs open at a time....it is ok to do if you are not using any passwords, and if you are not paying anything!!!

checks are actually much more dangerous to use than debit cards...checks have your account #, your name, address, phone #....and bank account routing number !!!

hmmmmm never heard that about tabs......... Will have to keep an eye on that, Thunder - Thanks for the "heads-up"!

i hope they button down the hatches. this storm is nothing to play with. i'm used to hurricanes, been threw 4 or 5, but never have i or wish to be threw a storm like this.

I should guess not....... I've been through some major wind storms, and I've seen TINY tornadoes (one touched down in my driveway when I lived in Winnipeg) about the size of a small adult, but never really had Major storms. I fervently pray for those who are frightened by these terrible storms......

Did our business at the bank. We had to cancel the debit card, and sign some papers to file an official complaint against Apple.
The bank couldn't believe that the site that we were directed to was a sham to non Itune users. But one bank vice presidernt who is an Apple customer, managed to log on to her acct. and get hold of a customer support officer!! Via phone, she told him what happened and we were supposed to be refunded in 5 days' time!!
The bank will still send in the official letter, in case they renege on their promise. With the bank, refund will take 10 days, as they have to send off the dispute claim. Malarkey!!! That's what you get with small town banks.

The Apple agent knew who ripped us off, as they have the email addy and other pertinent info, but won't tell Kel. Invasion of privacy he says!! How about our privacy!!
Anyway... read this.. they won't persecute the offender as the amt. is "too small"!!
It's still money that's stolen!!!
Again, we're adviced to use Paypal for online purchases if offered, or money orders.
It will be so inconvenient for Kel not to have a debit card. We only posess one credit card, and it is mine. Kel's very irresponsible to own one :D

Oh, did I mention we now have to drive around in a box truck? Kel's truck broke down and my truck is still housing mushrooms!

For now, we'll wait on our refund from Apple, and if that didn't work out, the bank will credit us via 'provisional credit act'.
Small town sheriff will still need the culprit's info which Apple wouldn't release. That will take $$$ to pursue investigation.
One lady in town was swiped off $5,000. The bank did the leg work, found out the address given at the online store where purchases was made. After googling the address, the bank showed it to the victim... which you all know would show the house too. She recognised it right away, it was her own niece!! Then she got the law involved!

My truck has been sitting for a year in the yard, Susan. Under the truck, mushrooms sprout all over!! But they're of the poisonous variety.
