Ok so i guess its normal to have the taxes take from the bonus. bummer. but it was 50.00 more then last year. so i can't complain.

SWEET INTERRUPTIONS #249
Prayers for your FIL, Sue
Yes, it's normal to take taxes out of your bonus - it's still "incoming $$", so not exempt.
Earnings are earnings, in any form, and taxes either taken out now or later.. will be imposed. I would get mine taken out too. Oh those were the working good ole days!
So sorry Sue, prayers go out for your FIL. Tim must be devastated! But modern meds are so advance, he'd be well taken care of.
That goes for TK too, Cindy. Like you, I never like to read or know of any sick kids, especially with the C word.
Think I'll post that recipe on my FB page, Cindy, and use rum instead. Too funny!
That reminds me of one Thanksgiving when my guests were already drunk from eating my sweet potato pie. I had been very liberal with the bourbon, but I thought the heat will burn off the alcohol? Guess, not the whole bottle!! Lol.
I read that very patriotic act Susan, and it still brings tears to my eyes. Thank you.
Sistah Kathy, we will now have the toughest conference, and all we do is eat each other up!! Aggies being lumped with LSU, Bama and South Carolina, this will be a hellish division!!
LK, I love chicken livers!! Good in pate, fried with bacon bits, or just plain boiled in soy sauce!! Yummy!!! But I'll take the carrot cake.
I couldn't get on yesterday till noon. Did mail out the prayer shawl to Faye.. urrrghh finally!! The cobwebs in my memory bank refused to come down!!
Then, today, I woke up with a sore throat. Got to find me some lozenges!!
Power prayer tonight, don't forget to include TK and Sue's FIL.
Morning everyone! Sorry to hear your not feeling well Jaye!
http://www.benefits-of-honey.com/health-benefits-of-honey.html
FOR SORE THROATS:
One of the better known health benefits of honey is that it is able to help treat sore throats. Thanks to its antimicrobial properties, honey not only soothes throats but can also kill certain bacteria that causes the infection. Professional singers commonly use honey to soothe their throats before performances. The Chinese believe that excess "heatiness" in the body causes sore throat and taking honey drink can be helpful.
Direction: Take a spoonful of honey to soothe the inflammation or gargle with a mixture of two tablespoons of honey, four tablespoons of lemon juice and a pinch of salt. Personally, whenever I have a sore throat or cough, I especially like to take warm water mixed with Manuka UMF honey which is well-known for its anti-bacterial healing properties.
Update from Faye...
Hello all. Just want to give update on Ray and thank you all for the continued prayers. Mon. Ray had surgery (this the 3rd. time) We got home about 5 last night. We had a rough night but a little better this morning. Home Health nurse is with him now. She will re-pack his wound 3 times a week. Second surgery now has been changed to 2 or 3 weeks from now giving Rays back some healing time. We love you so much and I do apologize for not getting this info to you sooner. Say hello to all for me.
Love & Hugs
Faye
Jaye - hope your throat feels better soon!
LK - thanks for update from Faye.
Thanks LK, for the keeping us abreast on Faye and Ray.
Throat was just about to get better until I started shouting at Kel! Yep, that boy needs to realize that all his irritating behaviour isn't cute for a 36 year old man. Lord grant me patience with him please.. that will be in my prayers too later!
How's your day Susan? The "S" word still going on in Calgary?
It might not be all the yelling Jaye, Kim came home with a sore throat. I think hers is the weather changes.....cold, hot. cold damp weather.
no "s" cuz we just had a Chinook, and it will get to 6c on Saturday. Nice to have windbreaker jacket weather instead of snow boots, mitts, hats, and heavy jackets!
This is what Calgary weather is like - blizzard followed by spring-like weather!
Busy, crazy day today, and tonight I went to a Community Garden Committee Meeting..... 2 hrs! I'm tired..... going to veg out in front of the TV.... it's 10pm, but not time to go to bed yet - need some "wind-down" time after the meeting.
moring
healing thoughts for Faye and her DH.
cold here.
need to get a new coffee pot.
feels weird no working ?
i still have not gotten garlic in the ground. it really is to cold . if i can still get in the ground later today i wll plant it. with any luck LOL
Cookie lets plan a girl day ? oh gosh its thursday already LOL
Afternoon Sistahs.
You may be right Marion, it got to be this crazy weather we're having in the South. Had my ac on a few days ago, and now the heater.
It's wet and cold and expecting more of the same for the rest of the week.
My gh is leaking, and Kel's not up to patching the roof!!! Poor what's left of the plants. Hmm.. Lord's trying to tell me no more gardening?
Sue, when are you planning that California trip, and for how long will you be gone? You certainly need to reconnect with your favorite eating places there my sistah!!
That's utterly madness Susan. Blizzard then followed by spring then back to white winter?? Oh my! One can't make any plans at all for a nice holiday in Calgary around this time eh?
Too quiet, LK.. what have you been up to? Finishing your afghan?
I am sure Faye must have gotten the box. Let us know please, if she posted it on your thread.
Had some surprises today.
A sister from Singapore sent a package, besides the Asian goodies there was a wristlet!! You know one of those purses that has this loop that you insert your wrist in? Never had one before and I can't imagine carrying one at my age!! Fashion forward, I'll be!!! Watch this asian cajun redneck strutting to church with one! Lol!
Oh, in that wristlet there's some nice early Christmas spending money!!
Then my church sister called me an hour ago that she got me a Smoke Tree for Christmas!! Said she bought 2, one pink and one purple, and she asked me to choose a colour.
Do you think I told her purple?? Nope.. I told her to surprise me!!
Might be a bad mistake, but who could turn down a Smoke Tree, right?
So.. who among you would give me the 3rd early Christmas surprise? Just kidding :D
Got sewing to catch up on... too darn lazy to even thread some bobbins!!
Enlighten me please. What is a smoke tree? My imagination is running rampant!!!!
ok, today is day 6 of having a stomach virus. been to the hospital 2 times since friday, to get iv's to hydrate me. today is the first i have felt like doing anything. i went to see my animals. boy were they glad to see me
warning: the dr. says this stomache virus is the worst they have seen. it mutated to last 7 days. you better wear diapers!
Poor you Sis!! I do hope next year will be a hospital free year!
Are you taking pedialyte? Got to have those electrolytes replinished.
How do you think you got that virus? Not from the elephants I hope?
And here I am, thinking you're still in mourning. Take care please.

and I can see my yard with one!
Kathy!!!! What ever are we going to do with you. You have had more than your share of problems.....hope it ends soon.
Jaye, thanks, I love that. Hummm, might have to think about one as I do have a place it might look really great.
Marion, I don't think it will thrive in your zone, I may be wrong. But if I'm right, that's money save up towards another hydrangea!!
i got it when i voted, i just know i did, so im never leaving the house again
my inlaws are coming from west by god virginia tuesday for the holiday. ain't got nothing done, and don't know how i'm gonna pull this off
yes sis jaye, i had a bad case of elephantitis
Ca trip will have to wait. :( with FIL getting surgery i need to be here and don't feel right leaving so soon after his surgery. Since Tim is in denial about his parents health ! ( oh by the way i m not bitter ) . My MIL will worry herself to death ! Literally she is such a high worrier she just gets so crazy with worry. Drives me nuts as i drive her nuts cuz i dont worrying ? ! LOL
i may go in jan or feb ?
Jaye - tree grows from zones 4-7. And what a beautiful, fantastic tree that Smoke Tree is!!
Kathy - what a nasty virus!! Hope it's over with soon......
The link Jaye posted above says it grows in zones 4 - 8 and I am in zone 8. Will double check on that.

Your elephants are playing again this weekend, hope you fortify yourself with Bailey Bismo, Sis :D
Sorry Marion, I thought you're in zone 9 or 10!
My zone is really charted as 8, but it's more of a 7 weather wise.
Love that tree Jaye!
Yes I am working on the afghan, about half done, a few more days and it should be done. Todd is gome for this week and next, and it is hard to,spend time in the computer when he is here.
Dropping in with a 'hi'
Frost on the pumpkin for ure.
Great pressies Jaye, now aren't you suppose to leave the box your sister sent for opening at Christmas??
Flu going around here like crazy, a dandy stain for sure, not easy to get rid od..mom and DIL both trying to get rid of it..thought they caught it a MIL's funeral..here is hoping it doesn't come my way .
Bought a smoke tree the year I moved in, it's about 8' tall, must have proper soil as it sure is healthy, bad winters here but doesn't seem to bother it. Lovely when in bloom
Watching tv.. not much going on.. back's hurting again.. using heating pad.. other than that, it's been relatively quiet here.
Cats just want to be left alone in this cold. Reserving their warmth I guess.
BUT.. I managed to pick out my Christmas gift online for Kel to get for me!! Lolol!!! It's gonna be something I want, and not need. Can any guess what I'm hankering for?
Sue, you're a good DIL. Your MIL will need some support for sure.
You can always take that Ca. trip at another time.
LK, you got courage girl to be crocheting that many squares! Your hands must be screaming some nigihts! Can't wait to see the finish project.
Hi Betty!! I was busy typing then my net went off!!! When it reconnected, there you are!!
Actually it's the Muslim New Year today. Al-Hijra Muharram, which my family celebrated, so box came for that reason!! Yah, I should wait for Christmas, but I must honor them and spend it for their New Year Lol!!!
Thanks for the head up on the smoke tree. I've always wanted one, didn't tell my church sister that.. somehow God whispered in her ears.
Take some honey for your cold Betty! I read somewhere it's good for your cold too. ^_^
Jaye, it is not may hands so much as my back, it hurts when I sit too long! Same with sewing, I can't sit at the machine for too long.
Seems like you are due for a chiro's visit, LK, to get that spine realign.
Sis Kathy, Betty, hope you both are doing much better.
Morning sistahs, fresh brewed coffee and warm bagels ready.
Think I'll apply a 10 min' schedule to the chores I want accomplish. I just don't have the 'wants' lately. Must tackle the elephant one bite at a time.
Sistahs have a terrific Friday.
Thanks for the coffee Jaye. I love bagels so I think I will help myself.
Trying to "tie up loose ends" so Kim and I can get on the road Tuesday morning.

Sis Kathy...so sorry you've got the crud.....GET WELL!
Sue, so sorry to hear about Al. That is bad news.... :o( I'll be praying for your family and Grace and Al, too. Girls day sounds good to me...let me know when you can work me in!
We'll be going to my DD Lisa's for Thanksgiving. I'll be taking the stuffing and a pecan pie. She'll do all the rest. It's nice not having to cook and she'll send home plenty of leftovers, too! Sad to have this one without my dad.....
Plasma donation day, so I've got to run....love you all!
Joyce, lucky you. Kim and I are going down to see mom and then have dinner at Cracker Barrel...no way am I going to spend time cooking in such a short visit. Our Thanksgiving will be Sunday following. Thought it would be just the 2 of us but when I was talking with my DIL she commented how nice that is going to be. They are staying home also and just the 4 of them; so guess this mom will end up cooking later. Actually felt good to have her say they wanted to join us.
It is dreary here today. Not really cold but damp and it goes right through your body. Yeap, inspite of all the fat...goes right on through. LOL
Little TK will be on my prayer list. So sad to hear a little one has to do a lot of fighting for this dreadful disease.
We are having some very cool damp weather now. Once in a while we see a little sun. Wonderful day for working outside though. So much moisture came down during the night I had thought it had rained a little. Just glad I don't have to take in plants for the winter. I have no idea where I would put them. Maybe put them in DH's shed, don't think he would agree to that. DH and damp weather don't get along very well. I agree with you Maid M that the cold goes through you in spite of the fat. The dogs don't even want to go out in damp weather, pretty spoiled!!
LOL! I surely know where you're coming from! It's chilly here today too, probably much more chilly than you are!!!
Glad to hear you're going to have a family dinner. They are always fun.
Sissy, good luck on your company. Hope all goes well. Now that they kids are back with you where will you put everyone!
I'm probably going to get a turkey as well. Bill has requested oyster dressing which I made really well, and don't eat. It's only because I don't like to touch them so I don't cut them up and put them in whole. Then it's REALLY oystery! ^_^
When will the oyster dressing be ready? I am on my way....love the stuff. The last time I had it was while my in laws were still living and all the family went to Alabama. Ross and I bought the oysters for dressing (not cheap that time of year in that area) but before I could start, his sister put them in the freezer. When they were frozen she then chopped them up and proceeded to fry, yes you read that right, them. Let's just say it was NOT a pleasant meal.........
Good Morning/Afternoon Ladies,
We are expecting rain for the next four to five days.......How many of you have Day Lilies blooming??? I do, lol. It has been so warm here for this time of year I think the plants are confused.
I know what you mean about back aching after sitting for awhile...I have to get up and move every half hour or so, mine is in lower back and hips ugh
I will be cooking dinner here for Doug's mom and step-sister.it will be very small.Doug's mom is picky like him and eats like a bird, his sister is anorexia all she does is drink water.
Look who's here!!! Waving like a mad woman here!! Hey Cookie!!
I'm coming for that oyster dressing! I've never had any, but I agree, whole is better than chopped.
Awww.. Marion, that will be another memory making Thanksgiving for you. I can see a table spread similar to a Norman Rockwell poster. Be safe going to your mum please.
Pegi, you're lucky, not having to overwinter your plants. This is the only year, I did not mulch what's outside. As for Darwin maxxing out.. well..Kel's truck did the same thing to our just re-started savings :(
Nowhere to go this Thanksgiving. Kel might be working, and I think I'll have an Asian dinner prepared. Turkey legs in curry, fried rice and stir fry veges.
BTW, if you all could see me now.. I do look mad. In purple pjs still, with purple nails, sewing a purple 'project'.. and no.. I ain't eating prunes!! Pretty soon my brains will be perculiarly purple!!
Well then Cindy, you won't have to cook for a whole army. Will help with your hurting hands. I hope they help you with the cleaning up.
All my DLs are asleep. Only thing blooming is a camellia.
Hello to all of you! I almost never post here but now I have to post THE BIGGEST THANK YOU EVER! I know it had to come from here and I love you dearly for it.
Wed., while the Health Care Nurse was changing the patch on Ray's back, the door bell rings. I answer it, it was the Mail Lady. She handed me a box that she could have left on the steps or even at the Mail Box. I waited for the Nurse to finish and leave and took the box and opened it in front of Ray. I read the sweetest card, (took a while, tears took over) then pulled the most shocking, the most loving, the most heart felt gift from the box. It is beautiful and it is awesome. And the best part is your love for us and your showing it with the most welcome "Prayer Shawl" When we could finally speak, Ray, with tears on his cheeks said: "What can we say" meaning that there are no words to say thank you enough. Ray has the Shawl around his shoulders. We will treasure it, protect it and send it back after the Plastic Surgeon closes the surgical wound.
PRAISE REPORT: Just got call from Doctors office: GOT ALL THE CANCER! God is so good and we want to say thank you to every one who has lifted us up to Our God in Heaven. And JAYE, we are calling you "Our Earth Angel" Thank you!
Love and Hugs
Faye
Second picture is the hole in Rays back.
Amen Sistah Faye!! Amen!!! Good to know all Ray's cancer is gone!! Imagine that!! I believe the prayer shawl works on its' assurance of comfort to the one that wears it. Especially when we can't be around you, just imagine us holding you.
All the sistahs here agreed that you and Ray should be the next recepient, of course after conferring with the maker, sis Judy (Seedtosser1). Sorry it took so long to get to you, but just in time when you need it the most.
Once that hole is patched up, it will only be a reminder of how Good our Lord has been and miracles do happen.
And by the way Faye, please tell Ray he's one lucky fellow for having so many women hugging him at one time!!!
LK is the earthly angel, actually. She's been keeping us posted on you and Ray. We understand that you can't be on so many threads at one time.. but we know who our sistahs are!! Hugggggsss Faye!
((((((((((Faye)))))))))) so glad you got the Prayer Shawl at this time!! Perfect timing, eh?
Happy to hear that all the cancer is GONE, too!!
God bless you and Ray, Faye!!!
God bless you both and may that poor back heal up just fine....
Praise God for more answered prayers! So glad to hear the C is gone!
Ladies, I am in San Antonio for the week end, I thought I post's yesterday, but guess it went into cyberspace somewhere. Todd is off work for another week, so we decided to come over here for some good food and see both of my boys at work at the tattoo convention going on! Yep, we both added another tattoo! Well, let me say mine is not done yet, it got to be too much pain, so I has to stop. First time ever I could not complete one. It is on my right chest, it is a beautiful hummingbird with a hibiscus. When I get home, I will post a picture of what is there so far.
Jaye, I do see a chiro at least once a month for my back, just with my back surgery, no matter where I sit, it is only for about and hour or so.
Marion, sounds like your getting ready to go see your Mom?
