Baton Rouge, LA

Hello To All

Dianne - you gave me a chuckle there... "Looking like the locals"... I'm so sorry about the problems with the teeth...horrible thing for radiation to do....DON"T RUSH getting names out. I'm not going anywhere and suppose I can speak for the others....
you need to recover as does our Betty.... OMG your mom is unbelievable! Agree with Barb... get some rest !

Judy did ya'll sign with AT&T ? We did and bundled everything....Not sure if we are saving but Hubs says we are...

Katie so hope that the pups are doing fine... and good for you to share Tony to help others with damage repair...

Susan - can't believe they can work someone like that....

Hubs got back in town today. We're headed to Model A Tune Up day tomorrow and Hubs hopes to rebuild our transmission. He sure has dove into getting the "A" Back up and running. I invited DS and DSGF and they are supposed to come ! YAY! I made a cheese ball.....
THEA ! YOU are back ....yes pictures please ! Did you get any German Candy ? LOL
Will pop back on later (HUGS)

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Mary - apparently my predecessor (Marissa) was telling me her preference, not company policy. My report-to (Jenn) came by and clarified it for me, and Marissa apologized for her mis-communication.
I told them both "it's all good!". I had a good day today. Currently it's a little more "physical" as it will be in the future. I filled the pop machine, and helped store paper, etc, but it will become more commensurate with my more senior experience. They want me to do Executive Assistant work, and the job will be re-worked so it's "my job".

Sorry, I've been MIA....such a busy week.

Monday was one of my house cleaning jobs, Tuesday was Plasma donation and garden club trip to a sculpture museum. Wednesday was GDO with monthly girls at a wonderful tea room and a trip to a friends' floral shop. (Got a new bench in honor of my parents, Bill's mom and sister. I'll take a picture when it stops raining!) Thursday, another house cleaning job and made a batch of Mushrooms. Yesterday was another Plasma donation and lunch with Bertie, and nails done, plus a stop at Sam's Club and Flower Factory. In the mean time, trying to get the house ready for a get together of friends and family tonight for a bonfire and hot dog roast. Now it's raining, and I have things that need doing outside! Arghhhhh......

Betty, sure hope the weekend goes well, and you don't feel to bad. Know you won't have near the fun you had last weekend! ;o)

Debbie, sorry you're feeling low....wish I could hug you!

Judy, so glad you're doing well with the BP. Keep it up girl! We DO need you!

Susan, glad you got a job. I personally know how hard it is to be unemployed! Do you get any kind of social security in Canada? If so, what age does that start?

Thea! Welcome home. I spent 15 months living in Germany. My daughter was made here and born there....my son was made there and born here....I have an import and an export!!! ^_^

Mary, hope your club time is fun for you and the family...sounds like you'll have good food!

Barb, hope you're taking good care of yourself. Until I went through cancer with my mother, I didn't realize how hard it is on the caregiver....I certainly am keeping you both in my prayers and sending cyber hugs to you both!

Dianne, not to worry about the names...gobs of time for sure. Just take care of you!

Katie, glad things weren't too bad with the rain. It's always something, huh?

Waving Marion! ~~~~

LK...hope you're still having a great time. I'm wondering too, what the Doc said about Dad....I bet you're missing your warm Texas by now!

Hope I didn't miss anyone, if I did....hugs to you, too!

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

some how I lost Y'all....Yikes

I was thinking everybody sure is quiet!!! too quiet.....did a search... Yippee found ya!!

Betty hope you be taking some rest time!!!!

Judy, when Momma quit smoking....she bought some of those big pretzel sticks.....sucked on them instead of cig ....
put us all on a call list, and when you want a cig.....call one of us instead!!!! You can do it girl!!!! you are STRONG !!!

mulege, Mexico

Tony and I just went to town so could check out the damage and get some groceries. Both Saul and Manual had lots of mud in their stores but are open now. I talkrd to Manuela about starting different types of tomatoes. He is working to have oranges all year; I suggested that we also work to have tomatoes all year.

Tony and I went over some work to be done here so we will have an area to display things for sale. Maybe start next week. He's working on putting my back door back together now.

I am watching craft thing on YouTube and thinking how much fun some of them would be. But I'm in too much pain to leave the puter. Arthritis with a vengence. Just took a second pain killer. I updated Dana on road conditions. They will probably be here next week Wednesday or Thursday. Maybe Dana and I can do some crafts together. We can raise funds for the animal clinic.

The beans I planted a few days ago are sprouting already.

Got some shelves done and the curtains done for in front of them. I'm gradually putting labeled boxes of craft stuff back. Feels like I've been doing this forever and will never finish.

I have a new-to-me Jamie Lee Burke book. Life is good.

hugs, katie

Judy - we certainly DO have Social Security - we call it Canada Pension. We can take it as early as age 60, and it used to be that the compulsory retirement age was 65, but now we don't have one. So many seniors were being called back to work to share their experience with younger staff it was deemed better to "pull on" the older experience more.

Hello there

Just got to the room, taking 10 minutes and back shooting
Seems we need to get it all done tonight I guess then out for supper..managed to pick up about 7 Xmas pressies and running shoes for Betty

Van is full

Verona, ON

Please don't get arrested Betty. The Americans frown greatly upon Canadians coming over for shooting. Sorry, couldn't resist. Hope you are having a good time and your mam hasn't reached that spot yet where you want to throw her off of the bridge.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Afternoon everyone! We finally had a day of sunshine, and no rain. I will be catching an early flit in the morning, get to San Antonio about noon, then a 3 hour drive home.
Dad is doing OK, just a lot of medical problems. He needs to have his toe amputated, but with a bad heart, low blood pressure, and stage 3 liver failure, the surgeons say no surgery at all. So all we can do is wait and see what happens. The Dr.'s have promised to give pain meds as needed, to keep him comfy.

Verona, ON

Sending positive thoughts and those of comfort LK. It's a hard position for you to be in. Remember to take good care of yourself while dad is in your care. Safe travels!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Thunder welcome back ! how are the Sailor and Soldier?

I think she meant to type shopping....but that old mind took over with what she was really thinking! LOL

Got my Christmas name....NOT TELLING either Mary!!!! PFFFFTTT!! lol

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

LK - I hope your dad, you and your family are not suffering too much with all this......... ((((LK)))))

Just got off the phone with my sister Alice..... my mom is going to be "paneled" to see about getting her into an assisted living home. She's 93, and lives with my brother (she sold her home to him with the understanding the rest of the family get the proceeds and mom lives there as long as she wants).
He works during the week - Tues to Sat - and leaves food cooked for her that she just has to heat up, but he's about the end of his rope as her caregiver. We all can see why - she's tiny & frail, uses a walker all the time, and when he's at work she doesn't eat if she doesn't feel hungry. She doesn't eat at proper mealtimes, either. And if no one is there to see she takes her meds, she doesn't.
Alice & Ruth took her to look at a care home and, according to Alice, her eyes just beamed when she saw the lovely home she could move to. It's a proper suite with a fridge, and microwave, bedroom, living room, dining area, and bathroom. She can bring a coffee maker and toaster too. Everyone seemed really impressed with the food too - they gave my mom & sisters lunch so they could see what was available for mom.
Alice & Ruth say she could move in right away (it's private, so no waiting list), but Stan says "not until Spring or Summer". Alice & Ruth have no idea why he would want to wait, unless he wants to "get his head around the idea" that his "roommate" wouldn't be living there anymore.....
He may feel guilty that he can't look after her until she Has to move, but as my sisters say (and apparently mom), "better late than never".

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

I got my Christmas name, too!!!

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

I got my name, too!!!! hmmmm what shall I make?????

Baton Rouge, LA

Deb ... So glad to know Betty is Shopping and not shooting....

I thought everyone thinks we USA"s are the ones shooting everything anyways.... LOL

Susan sounds like your Dear Mom is ready to be in the 24 hour care....

Thunder I went through that too... researching to see what I should be getting.... HUGE FUN!

Did nothing today except the Model A TUne up day... watching LSU and wandering around the house. DS has friends over in the hot tub and I'm glad of that because he was the one to never want to invite folks over for that... so glad. Folded some clothes and picked up some items from the store....

Hubs is still sick but snoring so hope he gets a good nights sleep.

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

Hey Mary, Sailor and Soldier both good as far as I know, thanks for asking, been a little while since I talked to either one.....May just try to call the both of them tomorrow....hope your hubs feels better soon.

Susan, sure sounds like your Mom is ready for the move. Are you looking forward to going to work on Monday?? glad you found out you get breaks.

Katie, seems to me you and Betty both need to take a rest,...re charge your batteries....

Deb, tell Crissy we miss her. and hope your feeling better also

hugs to all, time for bed. I can't stop yawning.....

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Yes, my Mom is ready. It must be lonely all day Wed & Thurs when Stan's working and she has nothing to do at home. He's home Sunday & Monday.
Tues & Friday she gets a ride to a care home where they have activities from 9am to 2pm, including lunch.
My sisters visit her (Evelyn, Alice, & Ruth) but that's only so often, and Alice says (with her poor health) that she won't be driving across the city in the winter snow & ice every week to see Mom. I really don't blame her either. It's an hour each way, and not a nice drive in the winter.
Mom fibs about taking her meds - she's not taking them regularly. Stan says it's because they're expensive - $7 for the bubble pack to put them in with the days of the week. She needs 2 bubble packs a month....... $14 for pete's sake.......... Not expensive.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Quick post..subconscious might be thinking shooting..
Aunt Muriel on my left snoring so loud, could wake the dead, then mom on my right in next bed yelling at her to stop, msurely it's not just 4:30

Verona, ON

Knew exactly what Betty was saying ............ but the devil made me do it. I swear!!! I just couldn't resist especially since Betty was in Barfallo.Loved the clam bars there!!!

Would have sworn I posted last night about how the names were drawn put I don't see it here. Hope whoever in cyberland that got the post had a good laugh. Not having Santa Warren here to draw the names this year I wrote each name on a piece of paper. Then I placed the papers on the floor and called Diesel over. When I called your name Diesel with some coaxing using dried liver treats put a paw on a piece of paper. He loved the game!! All complaints should be directed to Diesel. lol It took a bit to train him not to jump on all the papers all at once like the leaves I rake up for him but he was a quick study. He 'loves' jumping in the already piles of leaves and it makes a me laugh so much I can't get angry.Truly hope everyone has as much fun getting their exchange ready as I did teaching Diesel how to your pick the names,

Spent the morning yesterday with a friend who is not well. She is pretty well house bound so she misses out on lots of things. For everything she has had and is now going through she sure hasn't lost her sense of humour. Anyway I try to take her something that she has no way of getting access to = be it a jigsaw puzzle, brain teasers, everything along that line. She is a commercial baker by trade so this am I took her Benne wafers from SC. I knew she would love them. By the time I was home she had googled and was making a list of what she needed to make Benne wafers.Looking forward to tasting hers.Just 2 years ago she had a fight with that darn flesh eating disease, now she has had an 8 mon battle with kidney stones. One stone even grew around 1 of the stents put in.

Safe travels LK and Betty.

Crissy sending you positive thoughts. Am right there with you giving you support. I danced in the court parking lot the day my divorce wa granted. I hope when that day comes you will feel like doing the same.

That's one impressive looking lawn there in the photo Mary. Sounds like both you and Lance had fun. Did your DS and his DGF join you?
sleep. Wish me luck!!

Dianne
Think I will head off to bed and try some

Good morning,

I can't believe it is 10:35 and I just got up at 10:00!!! Bolted straight out of bed. I never sleep this late but this flu bug has got me out flat. DH left at 7:30 to pick up
all his brothers and the four of them are going to the Buffalo Bills game. As usual he is designated driver.

Diesel is so amazing and talented. Had to be a hoot watching him do that, what is he up to now with his weight? Has to be close to 55 lbs I bet. Time is just flying.

Well, DH took the entire pot of coffee in the thermos, I am home alone as The Child is working....so going to put some tea or something on and just chill.

Linda Kay & Betty ..safe travels.

Susan, congrats on the job and keeping you DM in thoughts this works out well for her and sooner than later for her benefit.

I watched the Katie Couric show on Friday, not normally one I care for...but it was on dealing with your elderly parents. Although I don't have parents left, DH does
and I think it was beneficial. Amy Grant was on there talking about both her parents with severe dementia....sad.

Well, need to get moving or I might fall asleep here!!!

Debbie

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

Beautiful photos, Ric thanks for sharing.

Hugs Debbie, I hope you enjoy the quiet time.

Darlene, tell Diesel I say thanks and give him a belly rub, or whatever type he prefers.......sounds like he has had enough treats..... Hugs to you.

safe travels every one

Judy, where are you??? come out and say helloooooo

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Debbie I watched that same show with Amy Grant. It was so informative. And as you said - so sad. I wish they could have done a better job with the audio when Amy sang as I heard all instruments and hardly any voice.

Lyndonville, NY

Barb I thought the same thing with the song. Thought my ears were just plugged as you couldn't hear...or understand...what she was singing.

How is Norm doing? Keeping you both in my prayers!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

lol on Diesel!! What a helper!!
Starting to think about my Santa Warren Christmas buddy.... know some of what I will send...... Now, to figure on the rest lol

Betty - did you get ANY sleep?

Barb - hugs to you & Norm

Ric - those quilt pics are beautiful!

Looking forward to work tomorrow.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Waving to all, one tired lady!!

Henry, how nice you got to sit by the fire and enjoy...thanks for the photo's, I especially love the liatris..think ou've given us all ideas for future quilts/hanging..the extra dimension is spectacular.

LindaKay, likely you are in bed, you've also had quite the week! Although you wanted to get back to Todd bet with dad's health issues you hated to leave him.

Dianne, thanks to Diesel getting me my name I was able to purchase a few pressies for my Christmas swap partner. I'm just so excited about putting a box together for her.

thunder, did you have a Sunday off?

Debbie, your body was telling you need rest.
Dianne, sorry to hear your friend has been dealing with such health problems.

Just walked in, had a hot bath, in Jammie's and ready for bed if I can unwind.

Hope all enjoyed their time away, if they did not its not because I didn't try to please and fulfill their every need.

Jim came but only because mom said we would be carousing Buffalo stores, leave her on her own when she got tired so reason why he came..

Got to say he needs his head read for waiting on her at every whim.

Know I wrote she was very frail (perhaps it was on a post that I did that went into cyber space) well, she is very frail but only when she doesn't want to do something or go somewhere..the times she is where she wants to be I CANNOT keep up with her. I don't say she isn't hurting but Lordy, Jim tie my shoe, Jim Jim Jim and more Jim..he was sooo attentive and kind, I'd have long ago told her to enough is enough. Jim is not a shopper but he went where we won't, never said a word about what she bought, only comment he made was "why didn't we buy it when you where in that store..some stores we went back three times.

This morning it was 'guess you are not going to finish that rag quilt for me, you are always so busy, don't know when you will ever get a chance to do it and I'm always chilled, would have been warm for me" sooo where is the large rag quilt I made for you at Christmas but knew better than to ask..
Had spent a few hours Friday night on it..early Saturday a.m. and evening for a bit, so while the others packed up and Jim pacing the hotel room I finished it.

Don't get me wrong, did enjoy the weekend but realized not that I didn't know it before how absolutely needy she is and her 'it's all about me' attitude..all I can say is poor Jim.

Now on the other hand her sister is adorable, where ever and when ever is her motto..she had cancer then a stroke, end result of the stroke is she never, not for one minute stops talking..don't think better means gab,rest,gab..no she never stops talking, even in her sleep she's talking but you got to love her, she is comical, loving and very giving...I simply smile, shake my head from side to side, up and down and hope the response is the right one. I'd go anywhere with her, infact she wanted to take me down east to see Cabot Cove, both of us have been there but she would like to go one more time. We shall see!!

Am pleased with my weekend purchases, went to khol's and managed to buy a nice pot/pan set for Melanie for Christmas..yesterday bought lovely cross/chain for the grandsons..as well, bought some tools for the boys for their stocking stuffers then fabric for Betty, gee whizz, such a lot of Christmas designs to pick from.

Guess I've complained enough, going to call it a weekend.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Susan if you can call about 10 hours over an entire weekend 'sleep' with non sleepers, snoring, someone saying wake her up so she stops and I can sleep than her snoring luder than the one I just woke up, yep s,dot and rested.

Thank goodness I have drugs, off to use them

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Now you can get a good night's rest tonight, Betty........

Looking forward to work tomorrow. Now, to make dinner - butter chicken drumsticks with basmati rice.

Cincinnati, OH(Zone 6b)

I thought the extra dimension would give you a few ideas.
The Liatris was what originally caught my eye.....

Baton Rouge, LA
