Sweet Interruptions #248

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

what's an OTT light?

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

jaye, have you ever tried hard rock diet ginger ale? no thats real ginger. got a nice bite.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Susan, look them up. Hard to really explain.

Yes, Jaye I have seen Phantom several times. Was lucky enough to have seen it on stage in Toronto and unlucky enough to have 6th row orchestra seats. Yes, I hit the floor with the chandelier came swooshing down!!!! Saw it again in Orlando but wasn't as spectacular a performance as I saw in Toronto (Christmas present from Ross one year) I will never get tired of that nor Les Miz!!!! Of course Starlight Express isn't to shabby either.

I must say Kim did an outstanding job with the peanuts!!! Just the right touch of salt......was a rather bitter sweet day as she always would have some during the fall when her Dad and I would come visit. Oh well, we enjoyed and even had some good laughs with memories.

Puttered outside for a little while yesterday and boy do my muscles tell me so this morning.

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

ott lights have "true daylight" spectrum something??? and when you use them you can see colors much more clearly.

Marion sounds like I got my first one, about the same time as you. and yes they were EXPENSIVE. butttttt worth it then and still worth it !!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Susan..they are a wonderful thing to have..

took a photo this morning ..drats wish I had known..was it not last Christmas I found a distributor that had the portable ones you just charge, we bought about 20 of them- think they were $15 each when normally about $100..I kept 4 for the girls who paint at the house. I also bought one that has a magnifying glass used for projects I need close ups, was really expensive but well worth it!

Queen of the restaurant is Mrs. zinder, she owns the Bavarian Inn, she is 92 I think they said, and she works in the kitchen 6 days a week! Tough old gal for sure!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

the OTT lights certainly look expensive........ maybe it's in my future - for Christmas maybe?
wait just a minute - a site says you can buy the OTT replacement bulb and put it in a gooseneck lamp..... I have one of those, and for $9 I can buy a bulb!! woo hoo!!

Great pics Betty - the Queen is HOW old? omgoodness, she doesn't look it!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

But a sweeheart..certainly was a great choice of a place to eat..did you get to eat all the leftovers?

You could try it susan, true ott bulbs are a bit more expensive than that but maybe you have a site that has them on sale.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Sis Kathy, only one store in Myrtle Beach carried them. I used to get the strong ones, but they're not available anymore. Kel wonders how my throat could tolerate that!

Susan, thanks for that idea!! I do have a gooseneck lamp in storage!!
But I'll check Joann's first, as Thunder has suggested. It would be a great help to these aging eyes.
A portable one in fact would be better... thanks Betty.

Nice to do a woohoo over tears.

Yes, I'm still sniffling. Looking at Judy, thanking the Lord that she's still with us...
Thank you so much Betty. I don't recognise the lady in the quilted jacket and the one standing next to Cookie (and she's tan in October!).
Karen has such a pretty face, and Bertie still looks the same!
LK, you look good sistah!!
The food must be good!!

Marion, Kel has suggested saving towards a NY vacation in 2014. He's thinking of a daytime museum and art tour. I'm agreeing to a night on Broadway!!! Lol!!

Woke up late, so late that my kitties were trying to open the cans themselves!!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Do you mean me in the quilted jacket (don't I look huge in that jacket) lol or the lady behind me, in red, girlfriend Ann who came along for the ride..because of the reunion this summer Ann got to meet several of the girls..we all fit like a glove

Victoria Harbour, ON

Betty!!!! Of course!!! It's you!!! Still the effervescent smiling Betty!! Let me guess.. you made that jacket! Beautiful.
Hello Ann!! You're yet to meet the nuttiest one of all these sistahs.. and that's Marion!!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Checking it now Betty, thanks!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Jaye - are you Sure Marion's the nuttiest? I could fill that role admirably....... lol
Betty - you don't look huge in that beautiful jacket!! You are simply BEAUTIFUL girl! And don't let me hear you putting down a dear friend of mine again!!! (stamp stamp stamp my little foot!!!)

I found a Michael's site that sells the bulbs for $8.99, but I'm going to a "real" store to see..... We have hardware sstores that might sell 'em

I got a phone call and an email from an agency re: a job about 12 min drive from me - it's a perm position! I sent off an updated resume, and she'll call me later today.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sending prayers they like your resume, and call you in for work!

Yes we ate the leftovers Betty, very good good indeed!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Saying a prayer you get called in for an interview!!

Susan, you cannot convince me since I've put on about 40lbs that I look skinny lol

Victoria Harbour, ON

What time did you get Judy to the Amtrak this morning? Was it a long drive for you or same town!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

No, it is a short drive of 10 minutes! She had to be there for her departure of 7:40am. She was so sad to go, and we gave each other so many arm wraps! As we were pulling into the station her train was already there, and passengers were boarding, so she grabbed her bags and got on the train. It took off about 5 minutes later. She said, that if she missed the train, it just meant another day in Michigan!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Betty - I did not call you skinny....... I said you are BEAUTIFUL!!
I got weighed Friday at my lung test, and I've put back most of the weight I lost...........blech!!

It would be nice to earn some $$ again, in a good job...........
I told Bob yesterday that I was not pulling my weight, for income and he said I most certainly was being of value to us. He's such a sweetheart..........

Would like the fuschia, but I opted for a cooling color.. berry blue!! Thanks Betty!!!

Praying that you'll get that job, Susan. And yes, Bob's a sweetheart.
My SIL is furious that Kel's brother is still insisting she works, even though he makes 180 thousand a year!! Glad that Bob and Kel love us more than $.

LK, how's your dad doing? He must be so happy to have you around.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

WAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They're out of stock, Betty!!! Fuschia, Berry and the Green ones!! Must be a ploy to bring customers in!!!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

I not nutty...I just have fun!!!!

Jaye, you will never regret getting the light. I can't do any work with out using one now......even have one at my sister's house and a couple here.

Thunder, my first one came from a distribution center in Tampa and it weighs a ton. Even though I got a new one, I have the original one hoping Charles can fix it for me. It actually works but the magnifier part slips off the rod.

Victoria Harbour, ON

You bought one then Jaye??? good girl, don't you be telling Kel I talked you into it.

LindaKay, I'm sure both of you were sad to say goodbye..

I sooo agree with you, when all of us met up, there was no stranger amongst the crowd, it was like meeting a family member and chatting up a storm of what we missed out on since last we saw each other..always overwhelming to see someone you've spoke to for so long in the 'real' version

love the magnifier, especially when working stitching in the evening..

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

So agree Betty, even though I haven't been to a get together in a while. Hope you are putting back some of those pennies for this summer and not spending it all on fabrics!!!!!!!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

No Betty!! I hit "Add to Cart" and after a few seconds a box popped up.. OUT OF STOCK!!!
Kel's actually for it, had to wake him up for "permission" which in truth, you know I don't need.
Plenty of this though. Am thinking if I were to spend this.. maybe I could wait a little while and get a much more better one? Like having the convenience of a magnifier.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Marion, I'm so excited!! I actually got one dollar all saved up!!! :P

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

Jaye I got one with a magnifier, it was on sale for $90.00 and I had a coupon that was good for 20% off entire order including sale items.....if you are not in a big hurry just watch for sales, and those good coupons...

Victoria Harbour, ON

Almost got everything for free yesterday (not quite)
but I bought a rotating cutting matt and ended up after 50% off and my additional 20% off on entire order it was quite a shopping bargoon.

Because I spend a lot they gave me a card for 30% off entire order for this weekend, even on sale items..now how did they know I was going to Buffalo for the weekend??

So back to Joann's I shall go

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Thunder, thanks for that encouragement.
I'll be keeping an eye for sure! No Joann's around here, so I don't get coupons, unless online.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

I enjoy my rotating cutting mat! I got one @ 50% off from Michael's.
Have fun Betty!! Anything to help one out in sewing or crafts is worth the money and trip!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Dad is doing pretty good, a nurse from Humana just left, they come to the patients home once a year for evaluation, and tell us how to keep his meds going, and proper eating. He goes for a follow up for his toe tomorrow. The foot Dr. Is insisting that his toe needs to come off, but the surgeons are telling us he will not survive surgery, so we are just going to keep an eye on his sore toe, and go from there.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I love my rotating mat for cutting too!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

rotary mat?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

It is a cutting mat, that has a turn table under it, so it turns easy when you cutting fabric.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Started cutting one of those cute aprons by trying to enlarge the child's dimensions and was going to sew here but decided I could not, much too tired. Always tomorrow right?

Think it will be a 'do nothing' kind of evening..you guys plum wore me out. Will put that laser unit on I got at Bonners, lay on the chesterfield and dream of all the pretties I should be sewing.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

OH a "rotating mat" yikes - never heard of it before!!

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

You surprise me, Betty! I was sure that you would be cutting your "chenille"!

Wish you all could have joined us, we missed you all and talked about you!!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

You just had to challenge me Joyce. Lol

I picked up the most gorgeous fabric at Joann's..bought enough got 4 panels, will try it with that fabric, test piece, then chenille throws for Christmas bags it will be..

Cannot wait to try the chenille cutter..Bertie was far too generous..tell her it's appreciated though

Drats, went to put the fireplace on and dropped my iPad, sure hope I won't have problems with it..likely not, good cover will help the fall

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

I knew you were talking about us Cookie, my ears were burning!! LOL It might have been sun burn too.....who knows?
