Good morning sistahs!
Wasn't a good night last night, my stomach was in a vice. Whatever ailed me, went away after a drug induced sleep. Besides essential oils, I took extra anti anxiety meds.

Sue, this is the first time I read that you are forcing Tim to think of family first.
Most men leave that part to their wives, and they have to be reminded that they are the reason women agree to have kids with!
Hope your actions will work out for you.
Honestly, if you could afford to cut back on some of the jobs, not totally be on strike, go for it Sistah!
I never thought of guardian angels looking out for me, till you mentioned it. Yep. guess there were when I was in need. Shudder to think what would have become of me if Bella hadn't taken me in. I might not be here, typing these words..

Cool morning for us again, but predicting to be warmer as the day progresses.
Rains have brought out the cockroaches by the hundreds.. outside.. on the back porch! HATE, HATE, hate those little buggers!
I've used up cans of Raid and now got to get some Bengal, which is much more effective.

Morning Jaye, thanks for the new room! Sorry to hear about your tummy, get some rest today!

Hope that spray works for you! Here we have field mice coming out, I am glad we have all the neighbor's kitties, to keep them away from the house!

I BE HERE

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning, was time to take winter clothing out this morning, imagine, was in shorts but a few days ago!!

Sorry to hear Jaye that you are not feeling up to par but am thrilled you found your Bella.

I come across 'earthly angels' every day..they are what gets me through the hard times and also helps me find the laughter and joy out in the world...couldn't get through a day without them.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Thought I'd post Joel Olsteen's morning message..think it also relates to 'earthly angels'

So much of our culture is inward focused. People are conditioned to think, “What’s in it for me?” But the most rewarding way to live is not with the attitude, “How can I get blessed today?” No, if we are always self-focused wondering how we can benefit, that’s living with a shallow, temporary mentality. Instead of looking out only for your good, turn it around and say, “How can I be a blessing to others? Who can I inspire to rise higher? What seeds of greatness can I call forth out of someone?” Friend, that’s living at a higher level.
Today, I encourage you to be on the lookout for ways to be a blessing to other people. It’s amazing how one word of encouragement can change the direction of a person’s life forever. When you reach out and speak faith over others, when you speak vision and cause others to rise higher, something supernatural happens to your own life. It won’t be long before you see yourself excelling and rising up higher when you live with an eternal perspective!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

You are so right Betty! Earthly angels certainly help in keeping our sanity.
All sistahs here, and you of course, have contributed so much to my mental well being!!

LK, no mice here. Too many cats, but the cats don't kill roaches!!
Kel told me about the prison escapees. That's dangerous!! Get your weapons loaded, sistah!

Sis Kathy, how you like that USC vs Stanford game. The writers that put USC as #2 are humiliated!! The rest of the world wants a non SEC team to be up there.. especially USC.
This week will be an easy win for 'Bama! LSU will be playing against Auburn. Geaux Tigers!

We cross posted Betty. Thanks for posting Joel's advice.
My BFF is a member of his church in Houston. She said that they have resources to help those in need of jobs.. temporary housing.. besides providing spiritual manna.
He is truly a God appointed earthly angel.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Jaye, our guns are always loaded! I never leave home with out one!

Jaye, there is a cheap powder for roaches, it is boric acid. You can find it at wal mart, but it may be harmful to the kitties if you sprinkle it on the porch? Something to check into? But it really works for those roaches! It is called roach away.

Anita, if your lurking, Happy Birthday! Hope you have a wonderful day!

(((((((((Cindy)))))))))) SO good to see you!
How's life?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Copied from another thread! Please make sure you add Faye and Ray to your prayers tonight? Thanks!

Hello all. Tomorrow will be 4 weeks since I've been able to work in my yard. Prior to that I spent hours each day weeding & planting. Still cannot do yard work but can you imagine how bad my flower beds look? Even the newest where I put down pea gravel is full of milk weed and grasses. boy do I have "Cabin Fever" I wanna work, this resting is driving me crazier.
Ray is hurting bad all the time now but he has been so good doing everything in the house that I haven't been able to do. The Radiation is burning his back now and is also making him sick. I just love him so much, it breaks my heart to see him suffer so much.
The pins will be taken out of my toes tomorrow, then what, I don't know.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

I will add Faye & Ray to my prayers tonight, and always.................

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

LOL just wanted to mark my spot so I wouldn't get lost...........................

Getting stuff packed, leaving in the morning for Reno for Street Vibrations..................
Taking suitcases up to Sheri's tongiht so we don't have to pack on the bike, bless her heart for offering. She has a boyfriend now and they are both crazy about each other. Have one more gf that needs a bf and then we are all set, lol.............

Been so bored lately, want to plant fall seeds and bulbs but still waiting to hear back from Medical, grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Glad you "marked your spot" LOL
Hope you hear back from Medical, soon!
"street vibrations" how cool is That?!?! How far is Reno from you? Are you playing "matchmaker", Cindy? LOL good for you!!! lol

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Reno is about 121 miles from us, there will be people on motorcycles from just about all the states bordering Nevada it's a huge event . Last year a guy was shot to death. He had been mouthing off about he was going to shoot and kill someone and it back fired. He was in a bar in my home town, on his way up to Reno last year and several people heard him say this. So now because of that they have banned colors and patches. Will be interesting to see how tight security is this year.

I don't do the match making, Sheri is good for that...................

just leaving my mark
got to run
bbl

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Consider this place marked for you, Sue lol

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Have a safe trip Cindy, and have fun!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Thanks for the news on Faye, LK. Will send our prayer shawl out to her Friday, and hope that will bring her some comfort.

Cindy, may you have a wonderful trip accompanied by good weather.

Kel 'hogged' the pc again last night. I can't complain, except that he uses it to google nonsense.. like gore murders..his rastafarian artists!
Then get upset most of the time as it takes so long to download as the sites he goes to are filled with ads.

Back to today!!

Good morning sistahs. Cool morning, but true fall isn't here yet.

Thank you so much for your prayers for Bella. I talked to her a few minutes ago, and the doctor told her that she had pneumonia.
Amen, and she thank you all for the prayers as well.
Now I'm in a hurry to save up for that trip to Singapore and Malaysia, before I run out of time. So want to see my old uncle and aunt and now Bella.
All in God's hands, and anything is possible with Him, right?

Kel has the whole week off, except today. His mother had intentionally scheduled his dad's doctor appt. for today, instead of his days off. She's fond of making things hard for Kel and she thought that would get to me too.
I didn't get upset, just released it to the Lord.. her vileness.. and yesterday, she had to postpone the appt. as her car is in needs of an 'electrical' repair. God makes things so much easy when you let Him do the work.

This is still my world, living next to hell.
Thank God for you sistahs, I can come to this place for peace of mind.

good morning
Jaye how are you feeling today ? better i hope ?

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

((((((Sue)))))) you know that song.."Mama says there'll be days like this" . Ain't that the truth sistah! Just take it easy, know that you're normal and yes you have the right not to say anything if you don't want to.
Thanks for asking about me. My stomach is fine now. Lots of yogurt and saltines instead of regular meals yesterday.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone! Jaye, I am so glad you got to talk to her, sorry she has pneumonia, but with all our prayers, she will be healed in no time!
Sue, you have a day off, you need to take some personal time, and enjoy the day!

Dylan was 6 months old yesterday, he is starting to crawl, and sit up! He really enjoyed that basket!

Jaye, did you hear about the arsenic in rice? it was on the news last night.

http://www.dispatch.com/content/stories/national_world/2012/09/20/study-detects-arsenic-in-rice.html

Consumer Reports urges U.S. limits for arsenic in rice after tests of more than 60 products, including Kellogg’s Rice Krispies and Gerber infant cereal, showed that most contained some level of inorganic arsenic, a known carcinogen in humans.
The consumer watchdog magazine said some varieties of brown rice, including brands sold by Whole Foods Markets and Wal-Mart Stores, contained significant levels of inorganic arsenic.
It recommended ways for children and adults to limit their intake of rice products each week and said U.S. regulators should ban arsenic-containing drugs and pesticides used in crop and animal production.
“The goal of our report is to inform — not alarm — consumers about the importance of reducing arsenic exposure,” said Urvashi Rangan, director of safety and sustainability at Consumer Reports.
Consumers might want to limit infant rice cereal to one serving per day for babies and exclude rice milk from the daily diets of children younger than 5, the report said.
Adults should eat no more than two servings of rice per week.
As replacements, it suggested other healthy whole grains such as wheat, corn and oats, which have lower arsenic levels.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration said yesterday that it plans to collect data on 1,200 food samples by the end of the year and make its own recommendation on arsenic intake.
The agency said early data on arsenic in rice products is consistent with the Consumer Reports investigation. It found average levels of inorganic arsenic of 3.5 to 6.7 micrograms per serving in about 200 samples of rice products.
“Our advice right now is that consumers should continue to eat a balanced diet that includes a wide variety of grains — not only for good nutrition, but also to minimize any potential consequences from consuming any one particular food,” FDA Commissioner Margaret Hamburg said in a statement.
Earlier this year, Consumer Reports called for limits on arsenic in apple and grape juices after similar testing found “worrisome” levels in those childhood staples.
Food manufacturers and groups representing the rice industry said singling out rice products is alarmist.
“Recent media stories based on studies about high levels of arsenic in rice are misleading the public about this issue, given that arsenic is everywhere and present in air, soil, water, and foods, including fruits and vegetables,” the USA Rice Federation said on its website.

Nestle Nutrition said its Gerber baby products, including its rice cereals, are safe to consume.

A spokeswoman for General Mills, whose Rice Chex was in the Consumer Reports study, said it is confident that consumers eating their cereal shouldn’t be concerned.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Thanks LK!! I didn't know that about American rice. Gee.. what's next. I normally buy WM brand long grain rice, but do use basmati rice that my sister sent.
I don't do sweetened cereals for years now, just the regular healthy grains. Was about to grab a box of cocoa puffs, the other day, but had to reconsider diabetes!

Dylan!!! He's grown!! Time for grandma to childproof her cabinet doors! He'll be more inquisitive now.

Betty, guess you didn't know that Kel worked a second job, to support his parents, at the used appliance shop next to their home, 5 days a week. He didn't have to do it, but he's made to feel guilty by them, if he wouldn't. Mondays and Sundays when the shop's closed, he still goes over. For a useless son, (their words) he still supports them financially and looks after his immobile dad.
I had warned him that his mother would find a way to make him feel beholden even though he found another good job. He was cheated into thinking that all profits will be split.
On top of that, she'd try to make sure Kel will not get any breaks from them. Her thing is this.. nobody should be happy when she's not.
The whole town stays away from her, and relatives walked on eggshells around her.

That was why I'm having mental issues that played heavily on my health.
No more fighting for me, all I can do is to release her to the Lord. Kel has to say no and break that bond.
The bible says to honor the parents, but it also says that once you're entering marriage, to leave your blood family behind.
Not Kel. If I had known this before I agree to come here, I would have left my ass behind!!! Oh well, Lord find me ways to cope.

Now I realised that not all who claimed to be saved, are. Sadly, his dad's a deacon and his mother taught bible class. They just don't live it.
Good thing is his state salary cheques goes straight to our bank acct, much to the disappointment of his mother!

ETA:
Think I've wet Sistah Judy's shoulders with this dilemna at Cookie's.
If you're lurking Sistah.. I am strong now.

LindaKay, something to be wary of..don't eat much rice but sure do eat cereal!

Jaye, what a tale of woe, no wonder you are overwhelmed..have a niece that went through to be a Minister, got to tell you SHE is the least caring individual, not a christian bone in her body..thank the Lord she took another route late in her studies.

I'm sure Jaye, Judy would not have minded in the least..that must have been when Crissy and I were at the hotel..didn't know the background...sending armwraps as our Judy would say..

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Good morning, all
Jaye - I weep for you and your situation....... the Lord will look after all, and I truly believe that it will get better. I pray for you and yours
Unfortunately, she will not see the truth of her ways, and Kel (being the Good Son that he is) is walking a tightrope, trying to please everyone. It can't be easy for him either.
Good for you that you've released this to The Lord. I know it's a struggle for you, but it's the only way......... Bless You

On Sunday our pastor spoke about "carrying crosses" and explained that the things that trouble us are NOT crosses in the true sense. The cross that's mentioned in the Bible is religion, and to "take up your cross and carry it" is really nothing to do with physical, emotional, or financial woes - it's ALL to do with being One With Christ and wearing your religion as he did. So, I shall Take Up My Cross, and try to live my religion (I am human, after all, so I shall try..... but I know I will sometimes fail, and try again........).

Well, best get ready to go to Bible Study - we're studying the book of Colossians this morning.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Thank you Betty and thank you Susan.

Knowing God is within me, and there's the telephone line and the internet, makes life bearable.

Who are we to judge. Unfortunately, Betty, 'religious' folks like your niece and my PILs are the ones that give Christianity a bad name.

You are so right Susan, the cross is being Christ like. Not an easy undertaking as life is filled with temptations. Flawed we are yes, and the good thing is Christ loves us as we are.. no more no less.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Jaye, I have to agree, just turn it over to HIM, and he will provide!

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

I also truly believe He found a way for all of us to find each other. I would be lost without all of you.......

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

Good morning all, going to be another warm day, temps. supposed to be in the high 80's.
Dylan is so adorable, 6 months........where does the time go! I see some very pretty blankets around him, made by grandma of course.
A month ago I bought a very large bag of white rice from Costco, jeez you just can't win any more. I guess I won't be using my rice cooker that much. When I first got it I couldn't wait to start cooking with it.
DH is still trying to figure out what is wrong with the Ford Ranger. His friend who lives a couple hours away offered to come and help him, don't know if that is good or not. LOL The only reason he owns a Ford is that the truck belonged to my son. Sorry LK, but he hates Fords.
Jaye, don't think Kel's mom will ever change, but God does work in mysterious ways. I got some penny wrappers from the bank so will take my jars of them and see how much I can come up with. Once a bank teller told me they don't take more that $4 worth of pennies and you have to pay them to take the rest. Asked another teller a few weeks ago and she said they take them, just have to be put in rolls; no problem there for me. So I guess I should start counting them out. I usually will go through them to make sure I save any wheat pennies.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Pegi, we are not ford lover either, other than the Mustang!
Our bank has machine, that you can bring in all your loose change, dump it in the machine, and it counts it for you, then gives you a slip that you take to a teller to get your money, or have it deposited! We do this once a year or so with all our loose change! We usually have about $400.00 to $600.00.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Linda, a lot of large big box stores have machine as well but think they charge a percentage of what is taken in.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

woo hoo!!! We just got our motorhome delivered!! I went over to the church this am to go to Bible Study, and Peter came to get our Pastor to sign as knowing Peter for his passport renewal. Then Peter said he'd deliver the motorhome to our place today @ 1pm!! Well, he "ran through" everything about it too, then I just got home from driving Peter home.
SO! the motorhome is in our parking pad, and now I have to pay for the key to the compound in our Park and Bob & I can both park at our spots again lol

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Pictures please, Susan! Need to say a blessing over the motorhome! You and Bob are now fully set to do some 'high class' camping.

Pegi, our bank will only take them if they're rolled up. There are "Star Coin Machines" in grocery stores, but they charged a percentage.
LK, I'm too broke to wait till the change get to a $50!!

You are so right Barb. God directed us to each other. Nothing like praying sistahs who take our issues to heart and wish nothing but the best for us.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

yup, I'll post pics, AFTER I clean it lol

In the meantime - here's a joke for you ladies! lol

IT'S BEEN FLICKERING FOR WEEKS NOW.

HE LOOKS AT HER AND SAYS ANGRILY, FIX THE LIGHTS NOW?
DOES IT LOOK LIKE I HAVE ENERGEX WRITTEN ON MY FOREHEAD? I DON'T THINK SO.

AS HE GOES TO GET A BEER, HE NOTICES THE FRIDGE DOOR IS FIXED.

HONEY, HE ASKS, HOW'D ALL THIS GET FIXED?
SHE SAID, WELL, WHEN YOU LEFT I SAT OUTSIDE AND CRIED

JUST THEN A NICE YOUNG MAN ASKED ME WHAT WAS WRONG, AND I TOLD HIM.

HE OFFERED TO DO ALL THE REPAIRS, AND ALL I HAD TO DO WAS EITHER GO TO BED WITH HIM OR BAKE A CAKE.

HE SAID, SO WHAT KIND OF CAKE DID YOU BAKE?

SHE REPLIED,
