TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

sleeeee-ep Dianne....... sleeeee-ep...... (trying to hypnotize you lol)

I know what you mean about the Debt Owing shows..... the 3 reasons I can think of them not "minding" being on them is
1. they're so far into debt that they've already seen a lot of embarrassment,
2. they get $$ from the show if they're successful in completing their challenge.
3. They finally get to learn how to take care of their $$

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Dianne, no more falls! Get some sleep please?
No, hubby has to work, and I am loving my time with the Grandkids! We live 160 miles from the kids, and we see them every few months!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Evening all..

Dianne, sure hope you've had more than an hour's sleep. Looked for the chip truck, no longer there..possibly they bring it in for Applefest.

Bet Debbie is napping under a big oak tree as she is sooo tired! likely shaking her head that she didn't make the special MIL treat.

Susan, did Bob get the project done? Thought of you today, while at Tim Hortons a van was parked in front of me, had Alberta plates..thought to myself,he is a long long way from home.

lindaKay, sure hope you are taking photo's of those grandchildren for us?

been quite a day!! Darlene got here an hour early so we left at 7am, did coffee and headed to Meaford..did a lot of shopping, feel like I was Christmas shopping but not..

Bought an outfit, big mistake, dropped into fabric shop, I just love it, so many ideas, needed fabric for few projects, bought that but wanted to stock up on a few prints/colors what I'm not going to do is spend $16.98 to $22.98 a meter (only 3" longer than your yard) nope..will take inventory of what I want to make come fall and buy at Joann's next time I'm in USA..bought a few Perrenials! Crocosmia in orange and one I've never seen before called meadow sage (looks like little red/white ladyslipper's) then crazy daisies, all in gallon containers..always enjoy the Meaford warehouse, got a few swap items I needed, can't leave without going to the candle and country store, then to Gramma Lambs, homemade peach pie..building is surrounded by hollyhocks..most in seed, told me to go ahead and pick some and pick I did lol. Late lunch at Swiss Chalet, into Home Depot for blackboard paint, quick stop for grocesues. now home, could doze off but if I do it will be another sleepless night so will try to stay awake, hopefully I can.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

the project is going to be a long one, for Bob, Betty
The overhang will be about 4 ft, and 18 ft long.
OH, and he's brought home 4 cedar "logs" about 2ft diameter, and 8ft high. He's going to use 3 of them as support posts for the overhang - one on each end, and one in the middle.
Here's what the outside wall looks like now.....
1st one is the panel by the door and other side is our porch - outside
2nd one is the panel next to it (outside of the den) - it's so spongy that you could put your fist through..
3rd one is the bottom of the wall - see how the shavings are at the bottom? it's so thin it's peeled.
4th one is where the join is, 3 ft into the den, the wall where Bob's computer is plugged in.

I know I've been nagging him, but we Really Really Really need to get this fixed. Besides the electrical hazard, there's always the mold issue.
This is going to be a very big job, but he's going to do it by himself. We can't afford to pay for any help, and he'd have to spend 1/2 the time showing them what to do...... He hasn't asked Bob D. to help, cuz he'd want to get paid, as he pays my Bob when he helps Bob D.

Wow, really does need immediate attention. Wouldn't Bob 2 knowing your circumstances help? There goes Bob's long weekend. Does he think he can repair in 3 days? You will feel so much better having it done for winter!

Neighbor asked me for tea and birthday cake, can't say no to that.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

yum....... tea & birthday cake - be right there, Betty!! Wait for me...........

It's going faster than we thought...... Bob tore off the outside wall, and there was SO much water damage that he tackled (from the outside) the inside wall, then realized how far he'd gone...... when I went inside I could see daylight through the drywall joins......
So now we've moved the bookcase (didn't notice it had "wicked" moisture from the carpet which is also wet, just under the edges of it - we had my sewing machine table next to it which is why we didn't notice the "wicking". It's about 5/6 inches up the side. Any minute now I expect to see the wall down - in the same room as I'm in, but waaaaay across the room from me. He's heading out to Lowe's for more lumber (just 10 blocks away from us).
When I was outside, looking at the rotted wood, it was more like lengths of sawdust than lengths of board.....
I imagine it will be warmer in the winter, too! It's one of the two coldest rooms in the trailer. The other one is our bedroom (no, not taking down that wall LOL) and that's original to the trailer. The den is an add on, as is the porch attached to it.

I'm really happy we're doing this!! It fits in with my "fall cleaning" LOL LOL LOL
I'll post "during" pics later.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Forgot to mention - asked Bob about Bob2, and John (both in our church) and he says they're both busy. Figures - it's the Long Weekend, and the last one of the summer, too.
My Bob won't be going to church tomorrow, as he's going to be working on the wall.......

Lyndonville, NY

OK, pay attention. I am home...and report...I had a blast!! Stayed away from "the trouble spot" and as expected loved on the kids.

AND the best part, Uncle David took me out into the front yard....handed me a key....and let me take his brand new truck for a ride!!!
Those who really know me, know I love trucks! DH was laughing so hard and said "I am never going to hear the end of this".

Met my new nephew, who will be a year old next Friday. I have spoken of him and asked for prayers. He has some severe health issue
and only God knows his time of earth. His Mommy is so so young and alone to deal with this. Spends a lot of time at Children Hospital.

And, my little peanut Ronnie Jade....

Glad you had such a stupendous time, Debbie! Welcome home!! Fun in the truck, eh? Good ole Uncle David lol
awww what a sweetheart your nephew is - he looks so worried :-) I will pray for him, of course. His mommy is so very young......
What a cute little peanut she is too!!!!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Was just thinking Susan, Bob must have lights set up to work in the dark then remembered difference in time. Lol. I can see you beaming from here having that work done..will be an improvement for heat loss for sure.

Ohhh Debbie, doing happy dance that all went well..that is the second gathering you've thoroughly enjoyed..

Love the photo's, sending prayers for the little one..Your niece is beyond gorgeous and look at Ronnie Jade, I'm smiling right along with her, such a pretty one..

Another stressful event behind you.

Was starting to get damp so came back home, tummy full and now hearing firecrackers..Sailor would be going crazy about now!

Has anyone seen our Suse on any of the threads lately..hope she is ok!

I've stayed up as long as I can, hopefully keeping as busy as I did today ill sleep..think we are all taking sleep shifts....want mine between 11-6 please!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

lol yes, I'm grinning about the time change.......
and YES, I'm really happy about the work being done FINALLY! I could see the wall bubbling inside the den, and knew it was very bad. It started in the Spring, but wasn't that bad, and then Bob got a job, so was very busy. Now he has No Choice - it Has to be done.
He has to clear the deck of all the c*_% so he has room to build the new wall, quickly. It's 7:45 now, and it will be dark by 9pm so only has just over an hour.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning, slep well last night, woke a few times and went right back to sleep.
Know it's going to be a perfect day out there but brrrrr, tempted to put fireplace on just to take the chill out of the house intil it warms up.

Did walk of the gardens, so very dry, have the sprinkler running, giving the gardens a drink while I wait till 9am when I can start cutting lawns..wish people got up earlier in my neck of the woods. Bought clippers yesterday, will deadhead and save the seed..anyone want some seeds???

In the meantime will go and sew for a bit

Dianne, I sure hope you post and say you slept in this mornimg.

Debbie, meant to add just how spiffy you look in that truck..tell Paul it's on your Christmas list to get one in blue to match your eyes.

Susan, how is the project going, are you being Bob's helper

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Good morning!
It looks dreary here today but the weatherliars say it will burn off and be nice. At least it is fairly cool and very little humidity. Boy when it is humid, it knocks me right off my feet!
Doing some cleaning today and working on that quilt. I have the first border on. Now I need to make 48 flying geese blocks for the next border!!! A fun day.
Hope you who need rest are getting it and that those who are up are well rested. Have a great day all and enjoy this long weekend.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Sounds like a lot of sewing going on..anxious to see the finished project..
Bet by 11 you'll have a sunshine day.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone, yes I am taking pictures, but can't post from the IPad!
Debbie, so glad you had a good time!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Mornin'. I found every one's missing humidity when I went to get the morning paper. May I send it back? LOL

Barb , really getting eager to see the finished quilt. You do such wonderful work.

Betty, I wouldn't dare mow here on a Sunday!!! Besides just got my lawnmower back from my son so I guess that will be my "labor" tomorrow.

Hope everyone is doing well.

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Good Morning

I hope everyone is feeling fit and rested. It is hot and yes...that nasty H word...HUMID...It is 83F here, but the 85% humidity makes it feel like 93. Supposed to get MORE rain today...we topped out August with right at 20 inches of rain and it is still raining, but now it is intermittent, thank goodness for small favors...grin

Betty, glad you got some rest.

Barb, that quilt will be just beautiful...such talent.

Debbie... sweet pics of niece and the two little ones. Happy faces for sure. I see a pick-em-up truck in your future...GRIN I do like mine, even though I was a bit overwhelmed by its size at first. I have a few years earlier model or the one Linda Kay got.

and, LK...soak up all those wonderful Grandbaby hugs and kisses...

Susan, I am so happy the work is getting done...I know it is a weight from your shoulders and you will be both snug and happier this winter.

Marion, stay in and stay cool...and when you do go out to mow, be sure to take frequent breaks and drink lots of water...heat and humidity is a dangerous combination.

Dianne, hope you are finally getting some sleep. Good thoughts and lullabies your way.

I hope the rains haven't caused Crissy any problems...I think it was mostly NE Ark that got the heaviest of it.

To anyone I missed...and to you all...Good thoughts for a lovely day.

Jean

Victoria Harbour, ON

Only downfall I find with the apple iPad, not being able to post photo's..we will be patient till you get home for the photo's. when will you be heading home LindaKay?

Almost done cutting Marion, lots of people work shifts here so many cut Sundays, my day is usually Sunday or Saturday, too tired yesterday..big party going on across the street, as soon as I see everyone arrive I'll make sure no cutting happens.

have 4 or 5 pieces of mdf ready for blackboard paint, think I'll give them a coat before I'm back in the gardens

Took a roast out, pretty big for one but will last me the weekend and lunch this week.

Jean, you will have to put those rubber duckies and, umbrella in hand and sing 'singing in the rain'. Lol. Well your gardens are likely enjoying the weather.

I'd I could pick a perfect weather day it would be today, sunshine, nice breeze..going back outside to clean the gardens for a few hours..

If I sit much longer that will be the end of my work day so up and at it!

Lyndonville, NY

DH had a brand new F150 when we started dating....rumor in his family...I just married to get the truck. hehe. Maybe.
DH's was red...just like the one above, but kids came along....payments too much and not much room for car seats in the back at that time.
DH was driving an hour to work and the gas was a killer.

No, not another blue vehicle. I have not had a vehicle that was NOT blue....except once!!! Unless it is a bright metallic blue...maybe I would consider.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Glad to see you post Jean. We are once again under a heat advisory so definitely no outside work for me. Think I will see if my sewing machine still works. It has been forever since I have had a day just dedicated to sewing. DD is getting her assignment done for her class so the house will be quiet. I can hardly wait until November when she finishes. Thank goodness there was only 1 course left toward the Specialist degree.

Debbie, my daughter drives a metallic blue Forrester.....if the sun hits it just right you would think it was purple. Certainly not hard to spot her car in a parking lot. My sister just bought a red, I do mean knock me down red, Kia Soul. She loves it. Me will plain ordinary beige/gold Highlander. There just weren't that many color options when I got mine.

Betty, I love doing large roast on the weekend.......don't have to cook so much during the week. Besides we life to slice it very thin and put it into salads with craisins. Yummy!!!

Back to my sewing....

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I will be back gome sometime Tuesday afternoon.
Love that truck Debbie.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Marion - I have a sage green Highlander. I love it.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Great minds think alike Barb. LOL Ross bought me mine for Mother's Day in 2004 and he chose the color but I love it!!! I am thinking I might just have another when I decide to trade. Love the sage green color!!!!

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

I really like how comfortable I feel in that SUV. I'm only 5'3" so I like how it is higher and I can see the whole road!!! As opposed to the Honda Civic I used to have!!!! That was like sitting on the street.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Loved the ride of your vehicle when you were here Barb, certainly you feel much sager riding high!

Looks like we are all in for the night..

Marion, did you get to sew?

lindaKay, kids sure will miss having you around.

Can't believe how many yard parties going on..one on the side of me, one in the back and one in the front..maybe the noise will lull me to sleep.

Too early to retire for the night, was tempted to cut out fabric for a wallet but think it can wait till morning.

Robin hood almost over..lol

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Driving the distance I do going back and forth to see Mom makes me love mine even more! I am still amazed at the mileage I am getting on the highway is one reason I am not really ready to trade. That and sentimental reasons too. I am 5'4" so I have the same feeling about being where I can see everything but not feeling like I am in a semi.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Omg I need a transport then, I'm only 5' if I stretch a little

Lyndonville, NY

That is what I liked about the truck so much. I was "up" so I can see the road. I have been in a couple accidents which were other peoples fault...but it was "being up" that saved me. It is easier on me getting UP in the vehicle than pulling up from a low seat.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Hi all - Bob's still working on the wall (in for the night, but will start again tomorrow).
Bob2 is helping My Bob - what a load off my mind That was....... he may be back to help with the rest tomorrow. Depends on if he has a 1hr or 6hr job to help someone he'd promised before.
Anyway, Bob has the majority of the outside wall done, just has to correct Bob2's not having connected one wire so we have our outside light.
So many layers in the wall - Outside in - Hardy Board, framing wall, silverboard insulation, blueboard insulation, and insulation batting.
Inside wall will add more Hardy Board. It's painted cream, but is paintable and I'll paint it another colour.
THEN Bob is going to add the 4ft x 17ft overhang. He's been given cedar posts (about 2ft diameter) and he'll use those to prop up the overhang. He figures to go under the deck to put posts under the cedar posts to support them.
Oh yeah, and he has to take down the bulkhead in the den, cuz it's twisted and wicking water, too.
Sounds like we really have quite the job ahead of us.
I'm not able to help him as much as I want.

Well, Lights Out here..... after midnight and time to get some sleep!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning, hasn't it been just the perfects September long weekend! Street is so quiet here this morning, only sounds is the water spray from the ponds and birds chirping..guess they are making a game plan for trip south..guess mom's are letting the kids sleep in as it's their last day to do so, school starts tomorrow.

Went out to deadhead but everything damp from the dew so will wait a bit..only have about 1/2 hour or so to finish a tote so might go so that, mthank the blackboards need another coat and other than that, my day is free to play.

What do you have planned for today?

Dianne, have you been able to get a few winks in?

Debbie got a giggle out of you marrying Paul for the truck..lol

Susan seems your Bob is making great headway, will take him several weekends to complete all those projects for sure..you'll not worry about winter coming now that all has been repaired and like new.

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Just a pop in to say good morning! We've a nice soft rain this morning. If we could just get it to do that all day we'd be in better shape! This is the first rain we've had all weekend to speak of. We did get about 10 drops on Sat.

I'm off to clean one of my houses this morning. We didn't talk about it being Labor Day, but I don't have plans, and hopefully she'll still want me! It's only about a 10 min. drive, so if she's not home, it's not really a big deal.

Tomorrow is when the garden club comes so guess I'll have to pay some really close attention to this house when I'm finished over there! You know the house takes second priority as long as the outside is calling!

Victoria Harbour, ON

It's a long fall/winter Joyce, you can clean then!!!

Glad it's raining your way, even a tad of rain will green everything up for you for tomorrow..Is this the last gathering of the garden club?

Hate seeing you drive all the way to Frankenmuth on you own, could you ask Bertie or a friend??? always nice having someone to chat with while you drive.

Not sure anybody asked Janice???

Hows Mommy Kitty, still feeding? and the babies are they able to drink on their own?

Slow moving this morning, body thinks it's Sunday..lol

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Yes Betty - Bob's making great headway. It helps that I keep mentioning it will take him a month..... he keeps saying "no" and I keep saying "add more stuff and it Will" and he says "no"..... This is a great motivator when I tell him "I know what you're like - you don't complete stuff...... (don't tell him, but it's like my UFOs lol)

Victoria Harbour, ON

Perhaps Susan it won't take him longer than he thinks, remember he has seen the damage now and knows its a health risk changes put off until tomorrow syndrome..

Itchy/itchy, out cutting spent flowers..thankfully Judy isn't seeing the firepit heaped with greenery/flowers after all her hard work to clean it,.oh well just means she has to come back in the spring to clean it!

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

I'll come help the lil injun! ^_^

The garden club continues to meet all through the year. This is for sure the last one at my house for the year! LOL...I didn't do a dang thing today when I got home. Mark and Bryn stopped by, my girlfriend called me and we probably talked an hour and I'm like you Betty, don't like talking on the phone that much....but for some I gladly make an exception. Then I had to go pay my cell phone bill and then it was beer 30! Home and the crossword puzzle was calling my name and then the littlest kitty crawled up on my chest, so geez...when did I have time to clean???? Tomorrow morning for sure!

Kitties are sometimes getting on mama, but I don't think she has any milk, they usually go right to sleep so I think it's like a pacifier for them. They're all drinking water really well, and they eat the "pate" kitten food, too. It's funny, if one of them gets finished first and heads to another one's dish, that kitty puts its' paw out like "oh no you don't"! Too cute. The one I've been concerned about is still pretty skinny. I can still feel it's backbone, but it has eaten 3 times today and it was running with the others earlier. So I'm feeling pretty good about it.

We had soft showers a lot of the day, but I don't think we had anything to amount to much. Like you said though, Betty, any will help it green up a little.

I did ask Bertie if she wanted to go....she said maybe. Her hubby is talking about going to MI next month to visit his sister. If he goes there, she'll probably have to stay at home with the pups.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Joyce, we have good intentions at the beginning of the day but somehow they get sidetracked..I always like to write down what I intend to do and see how close I come.

Sometimes the runt Joyce ends up the strongest..if starting to eat might just make it. I often at lunch pass the pet food store in the mall and they've little kitties for sale..I don't stay long as not to be tempted but do enjoy their play..they have a humongous climbing tree and activity unit, just too much fun watching them. This group is pretty well all black.

Maybe Joyce if Bertie cannot go you may have another friend who would love to??

Omg, you know me and cooking, the word burn comes to mind right? I took a roast out yesterday, thawed it and set it in the refrigerator, thought I'd best cook it this afternoon, put stove at 375 only because i was playing outside and nside and thought it would be better to cook slowly..checked it about an hour ago, nope, not cooked, back into the oven, figured an hour and it would be done..just checked, drats, must have shut the oven as it to forget turning it off and didn't turn it back on so now it's a cooking.

Darlene just called, she spent part of the day cleaning out some of Mike's clothes, put them in a bag and will bring them here for me to make something for her, maybe a cover quilt for when she's feeling down and needs comforting. Last fall I had bought all kinds of nature fabric as my intent was to make Mike/Dar a quilt for this Christmas..guess it will in some ways be for both.

Although I've rested this weekend I've been productive..finished the quilt for my little cafe, did Julie's tote (for Christmas) got the wallet cut to match the tote, got Melanie's tote almost done (also for Christmas) got 5 blackboards painted, inserts done with blackboard paint, grass cut, laundry/housecleaning and a lot of garden cleaning, seed pickings then add day shopping on Saturday sooo guess I didn't do badly..mix of work/fun in equal amounts..

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Bob was trying to reach his boss to tell him he was taking the day off tomorrow. When he reached him, Larry said he would come home with Bob after work tomorrow and help him! Bob didn't have the heart to say he was staying home tomorrow, after that.
It spit for about 10 minutes today, and wasn't supposed to rain at all, but now they're calling for rain tonight......... Yikes.
Bob's working as fast as he can, to get the roof work done so he can cover it and be secure/safe for all day tomorrow.....
Bob's noticing it's more of a job than he thought, because of the "patchwork" roofing done - you're supposed to have the grain of the wood going from rooftop to gutter, and there are bits and pieces of plywood (1-2ft square-ish) going in all directions butting up against each other. Having the grain going downhill makes for proper water run-off. No wonder the water was puddling in spots and causing rotted wood.
btw - the outside light Bob thought wasn't hooked up, was hooked up. The bulb had just chosen then to burn out lol

Joyce - re: kitties. Does this mean that the 2nd kittie did not pass away, and it's the skinny one that's now eating? I surely hope so........ What's its name?

Victoria Harbour, ON

That is good news about Bob's boss coming over..amazing just how much work you can accomplish in a few hours..can't blame bob for not telling boss he was taking tomorrow off.

Lyndonville, NY

Susan, there was a 3rd kitten doing poorly, 2 have already passed....but this one is starting to pull around and do better.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Waving Debbie, what has been keeping you busy today, hope it's rest! Have you given more thought or made a decision about the hospital in Cleveland?

Roast cooked to perfection and here I'm eating BBQ chips, my excuse is they expire in 7 days..woder if the ice cream tub in the freezer has an expiration date.

Wonder how Dianne is doing, with so little sleep she must be exhausted.
