Am praying for you Susan. Hugs to all BEV

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

I know that I am blessed to have you as friends, I have my health, my DH (and he has his health), a roof over my head (albeit falling down around us.....), a way to contact the "outside world", and......... I have my family, although they are far away. Bob's working, too. He has a good job.

Sometimes I swear that I should move back to Winnipeg...... but then would be starting ALL over again, and don't know what the job market is there either. Not sure family would be much help either, as they've never offered any, and wouldn't know where to live. No one will buy this place, so would not have any $$ to start over with anyway.......Not only that, but Bob IS working.....
Moving would mean that I'd be closer to y'all, and that would be a good thing, I guess, but still wouldn't be able to see any of you anyway - most of you'd still be 1/2 a continent away.. I think that's the part that hurts the most - minimal contact with family, and friends............

Victoria Harbour, ON

Hugs Susan..know you need them!

Jean, it must play on your emotions for sure, to some degree you must be overwhelmed how you've missed the brunt of the storms and others have been hit the past 2 times..have you been in contact with all your family??? am sure they worry as well..you know its best to give the Lord freehand with our wellbeing/lives because if we decided we know better and offer up our plan, he'd just smile and shake his head..sending you hugs as well..

Waving Bev..did you get rain from Isaac.

might just go cut grass..finished quilt on the frame, had a helper who is bound to get between the project so I'll come back to it later when she's out chasing mice..hopefully with me not beside her she'll lose interest and go along her way!

Got the laundry done and I've been working on this year's BOM (Block of the Month) which was only 6 months this time (2 each month). I like this format much better as I have time to finish the quilt if I want to give it as a gift at Christmas. Almost have all the rows sewn together. Then come the borders......

Barb, that is so pretty! Love the design and color! What size is it?

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Thanks Betty. I am fine...it is sad for those who lost their homes and lives, but there is naught i can do about that....I was thinking more of Dianne and you and Marion unable to get the sleep you need. I do not have any family here in La..DH's parents and other relatives are here and all are okay.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Jean, oh please don't worry about me....you have enough with cleaning up after the storm. It was just one of those nights and I do have them this time of year......the absolutely worst nights come around September 22-24th but I am learning to cope with those.

It just makes me sick to see and hear of all the damage from Issac and so many homes flooded. Mother Nature can certainly be relentless at times.

Absolutely stunning..what a lovely pattern..looks tedious?

Missy took a hissy fit when I tried to throw her from the quilt top so guess I've moved on to starting a few totes

Shame on Missy...

That is a lovely quilt Barb.

Marion, that is the point, Dear....if I ask the Good Lord to watch and keep you all, I know I don't have to fret. But i can still send hugs and wish you all good days, good health and much happiness. GRIN

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Betty - absolutely gorgeous Love the black contrast

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Jean - you're a treasure

Victoria Harbour, ON

Jean, someone also told me to take a motion sickness pill and I'd doze off, just checked the cabinet and have some will try! the well being if my Dg friends ranks right up there with family..are there often more than one of Isaac that comes along, please, please say no!

Marion, know how agitated one becomes nearing anniversaries..does get better but the feeling of doom never leaves.

Those colors are just so striking, who will be the lucky recipient Barb?

Debating wether or not to leave grass cutting till tomorrow and continue my day playing with sewing or get more energetic and start up the lawnmower..might be sewing as I think I would have to run to town for gas for lawnmower and don't want to be on the road with this traffic..

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

(((((((Marion)))))))

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

The finished quilt after the borders are added will be 73 X 90. And the best part is that it is for ME. I have given away almost every full quilt I have done. Only one I have left is Norm's braid quilt and my Boston Common which only get put out on special occasions. This will be for every day. I figure it is so busy the cat hair won't show as much!!! LOL

I love your teapot quilt Betty. Was that a panel in the center? ANd boy, you sure did go to town with your quilting frame. Great job.....

Hoping that those of you who need sleep will get rest tonight. It is no fun when the mind takes over and you think of all kinds of things that keep you awake.

Happy to hear our friends down South are faring okay. It may not have been a high rated storm but it sure is a big one....

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

You are so right Betty.

Was to have made a table cloth for the cafe but table is full of cafe items/eats so will likely put the binding on, fold it and set it on the rail or char..I used up the 2 1/2 inch strips from last swap and worked out perfect.

Thrilled to hear Barb that this one is for you.. yep, likely not show kittie hair! Now you will have to be on a mission to quilt it..will you hand quilt or machine quilt.
I was thrilled with the frame, made quilting piece of cake, ok, you had to roll it every 6" or so but sure beats trying to pin and fight the fabric..did learn a few tricks, am sure as I do more it will become easier..NOT sorry at all for purchasing the frame.

Maybe we should make written note on the thread as these anniversaries come near..i.e. lost Roger (month/date/? anniversary) so that our friends here can help us through those weeks..sure know I appreciate the support Christmas and New Years! I find when I'm lonely for Roger I watch cowboys..imagine..just watched 3 today, soon I'll be out looking to buy a horse!

Betty, that is so pretty, looks like your frame worked out well for you? Please wash that scratch good, so it does not get infected? Ask Marion about cat scratches.

mulege, Mexico

Hi everyone, recovery is going well. I'm going to spend the next two and a half days stretching, icing and reading. Sent money to Tony via Western Union so I think I''m good to relax and continue getting better. Physical therapy people are very happy with me.

hugs, katie

Outstanding news Katie!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Great news Katie..and not to be worried about your home and furries makes things so much easier..sending that Tony big smooch for looking after things for you!

You are healing well because you are doing everything they ask of you..works everytime..hope you've someone to keep an eye on you though from time to time.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Happy to hear all is going well Katie.
Did Betty get scratched?

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Yup...Missy had a hissy over being asked to vacate the quilt frame.

Good news Katie. Glad you are healing well and getting stronger.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

I guess I didn't open that picture!!! Do be careful with that scratch Betty.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Just broke the skin in a few places, that will teach me to move
her when she's resting..

Bought a simplified tote/bag pattern from Clothilde, 3/4 Julie loves homemade pressies, enought material left to make a matching wallet, just the handles left to make but going to call sewing 'done' for today..

Kept at it all day in hopes I'll sleep well today.

Didn't realize the Meaford Fair is on tomorrow so between what I was going there to do and the Fair it will be a busy day. I picked Sunday but Darlene hasn't been feeling well so we left it that IF she's okay tomorrow we'll leave around 8am and if she is not well then we'll leave it until Sunday..

So that's what my day looked like

Wonder if Debbie is busy making that special treat for MIL..
Would imagine Judy is cutting wood!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Oh my Dianne, hope were comfy in bed with Diesel snuggled up to you.

I've cleaned, made muffins, did my hair, load of wash, keep looking outside, want to water hanging baskets before I leave for Meaford should Darlene be well enough to go.

All this and its just 5am...not nearly as sleepless as you, sure hope you can get a few hours of sleep in this morning! Makes for a long night doesn't it..took something for sleep, worked for 3 hrs.

Only handles left to add to the tote I'm making Julie so think I'll go finish it off

Debbie, if I don't get back this morning, do enjoy the gathering

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Good morning ladies! Here I start on the waking up so early and you are both going to bed or to sew!! Hope you get some rest Dianne and that Missy stays away from the machines.....

Verona, ON

Enjoy your company this weekend Barb. Have a good time on your travels Betty.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Slleep well Dianne!!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Dianne you are suppose to be in bed sleeping..will be on the lookout for you chip truck on the hill..going to look for coordinating fabric for a few pieces I need to finish and look for new exciting patterns..love Meaford Quilt store

Whoooo who is coming to visit Barb..could it be Thea???
What a fantastic time you would have ..if not, then enjoy/enjoy with whoever drops by

Yep, just finished the straps, looking at the clock, daybreak is almost here so think I'll at least be able to locate the hanging baskets and water before the heat of the day.

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Good Morning. Looks like the rain is quite a ways off, so will go with the plan to go to the Garden Fair. A friend is coming to ride with me so that will be fun. We'll "do" lunch after.

Have a fun day, Betty, hope Darlene is up for it.

Waving to all!!!!

Verona, ON

I got about a 60 min nap in so feel a bit better. Will definitely go down for nap when Diesel does. Thank goodness he still has 2 lengthy naps each day.Quill and I both get a break then.Don't get me wrong! I am not complaining of his excess energy right now as I know all too well he could grow up overnight losing that wild eyed excitement which makes us all smile so much. Guess I should be going to see Doc Death for a stronger Rx for sleeping.

Nothing exciting planned in this area for Labour Day except for the 1 day Garlic Festival at the market from 9 -1pm. All the cottagers think it is big doings for which the businesses in the village and Farmers Market are very grateful. Tis been a very flat tourist season this year - even the fishing licences sold in the area are down.

I need a new BBQ so I hope I can find one on sale soon. Mine became toast the last night Debbie and Paul were here in July. No wonder the ribs took so long to cook.

Enjoy yourselves this weekend ladies. Glad to see you made it to Florida Mary. Party time at Mary's!!! No, no, no Mary I am just kidding, your DS and DSD will be fine.

The dogs have been for their walk soo breakfast seems like a good idea. Looks and feels like a wonderful day is brewing out there for today .

Good morning all. I actually slept very well last night...tired I guess from working in the yard yesterday.

Planning to stay close to home this weekend as it is the first football game of the year. Traffic will be horrendous in town. DD and I went into town yesterday afternoon and did what things needed to be taken care of including buying some very nice mums at Lowe's for $1.00 each. Of course they are all yellow but that isn't of any great concern right now. Plan on filling my half barrel with these for a little color.

Mary, thanks for the comment. It is the time of year when I lost my hubby and it is always difficult. Time does make things better but it doesn't ever take away that "helpless' feeling.

Just found out we are under a heat advisory for the weekend. Not good!

Take care all and what ever you do, have fun!!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Mary - happy you're in FL! Have a great time.
Betty, Dianne, Marion - glad you got some zzzzzz time!

I'm still doing some clean-out in the house, and Bob's outside starting to create the overhang on the side of the trailer that's leaking..... hope he gets lots done, cuz it's 30% chance of thunderstorms. Which means 70% chance it Won't, right? Noon to 5pm....... As he says - "can still put in a few hours in the evening". I'm nagging him a bit cuz he gets distracted and hard to get him to finish a job once he's stopped.... still hasn't finished the baseboards in the bedroom, from 1 1/2 years ago...... He knows why I "nag". Feel like I should call Bryan Bauemler lol (Canadian host of Disaster DIY, HGTV). lol
Not that Bob isn't handy, but getting things finished is a chore for Me to remind him about lol.
Bryan is a host on Disaster DIY, Disaster DIY: Cottage Edition, Leave It to Bryan and House of Bryan, and is a Judge on Canada's Handyman Challenge with Mike Holmes and Scott McGillvray.
hmmm maybe Bryan Would come out to our "home disaster" lol

Sigh. Heading out. Exhausted from cooking and laundry already.

Will call if I need bail money!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

oh oh....... should we warn the police that you're "out and about" LOL

Verona, ON

LOL Susan I know who Brian, Scott and Mike are !!!!! The only reason I do is that when I can't sleep in the middle of the night I often watch HGTV. I've been introduced to several new shows and show hosts (new to me) these last few months. I also was floored by the shows About Debt Owing and the one called Princess. I couldn't expose myself like those people participating in the show do. I just couldn't do it, I would be totally mortified if I was in those peoples' shoes The hostess of those 2 shows "Gail " certainly is blunt and has some weird challenges. It would be interesting to do a 5 year follow up and see where all of the original candidates are financially now. Those darn LOCs and credit cards can sure get a person into financial trouble quickly. A friend of ours sells real estate amd he was saying the young couples who come in to buy these huge 5,6,7,000 sq.ft homes only want to know 1 thing -" What does it carry for each month?" My goodness what got me going off on that tyraid? lol

How are you making out this weekend LK? Did your DH go with you? You are very lucky you live close enough to your grands that you get to see them more than once or twice a year. Even with the internet and it feels like they are right in the room with you its just not the same as a real hug.

Hope Betty got to go on her excursion today. If her weather is anything like the weather here it would be a perfect day for her.Betty I am trying to remember the name of a Pizza Takeout in Meaford that has the outstanding pizza. It is a chain but the name escapes me.

Judy are you at the cottage this weekend? Oh goodness I just about fell off the chair ..... I guess I dozed off. Maybe I will go sit in the recliner and see if I can actually sleep.
