Busy evening, Greg came over for eats, Kyle ended up home early and he joined us..then Ann came over, we did not win at t.v. bingo.

With not sleeping well last 4 days thought I'd stay up later than usual in hopes that when I do go to bed I'll doze off.

Decided to work on the quilt but Missy had other plans..she thinks this new frame is a comfy bed and not about to share!

Mary did see CATS on Live Earth as I searched the web a few weeks ago praying big time that you couldn't go back in time and see the night action..omg, that would have been something, I'm so laughing..now watch you find a way..

Action doesn't start till around 9 or so but because of the storm doubt anything going on BUT do watch it another night, lots of laughs as the evening progresses.

Give me a good old fashion snow storm anyday..only dangerous if you are silly enough to go out in it when there is no disability..at least we can play in our snowstorms..snowmobiling/skying/sledding/skating/making snowmen and the works.

I hope those with electricity (ie: HYDRO) are keeping off their computers - could cause probs with them if they get shorted out....... even with surge protectors.

Nate came home, passed out, woke up and ate some yogurt took pain meds....and last I heard is sleeping again. His poor little mouth is stuffed full of gauze pads to absorb drainage. I am glad I could help him....and honestly him needing me today did me a big favor.

Diesel was a firecracker today. Just when I thought his battery was finished he has started up again. Quill is a saint.

Hey Dianne ((HUGS)) Yes we do... almost mandatory since Hurricane Gustav. I couldn't sleep with the "noises". Glad I "can't see". Winds are LOUD !

Diesel reminds me of when we first got Belle... she was SO Rambunctious ! I know we'll miss that though when she is a full adult.....

Another interesting thing... I'm FB "Friends" with a lot of local radio DeeJays who were laid off because the big companies didn't want to pay local people when they could syndicate the big shows.... (Pay one guy to talk to 100 markets from one city vs having 100 local guys talking locally) . Now they are hiring a lot of them back on contract labor just for the hurricanes. It is just so sad.

Sure hoping those braving the storm are safe..for the first time in days I had a good night sleep and can you tell me how come when it's a work day you feel like sleeping in till noon and on weekend up at the crack of dawn???

Debbie, am sure Nathan is glad to have the extraction behind him and might feel well enough to drop in for a visit today..sometimes in our lives we just have to think of others rather than ourselves or we'd never survive..hope the stress you are experiencing soon minimizes, been a long time that one thing after another is piled on you!

Dianne, I'm hoping you were able to get a good night's rest, takes a lot of energy looking after a puppy...much more than we think!! You should write a book on Diesel's antics.

This southern lady is fine. Just a little breezy but I am not even sure if Isaac is the cause...just a gentle breeze. Still dreary looking but very little rain so will see what the rest of the day brings. My sister as of last night was still having heavy rains....called to see if she could borrow my paddle boat. Ha! Seriously she does have a standing water issue so will see if it drained during the night a little later.

All is well here..waiting to hear from the LA gang.

Betty, I remember, but it was Jeanna my oldest. I was very impressed. Will probably start working on it after the holiday to see when and such. We have to get a specific doctor and all my testing to date. My mental state right now is so "gone" that I need to wrap my brain around this and think it threw.

Yes, long weekend. Paul's family has a "family reunion" this Saturday and don't know if I am going. Going to be over 90 and it is all outside.
So called reunion, and we see everyone that's going to be there all the time. BUT it is a chance for his Mom to catch up on the gossip and eat
(YES, I am in a fowl mood and thats not nice...but she is NOT my favorite person).

Was looking at the news and it was saying how many were without power..let's hope she's able to post soon. Glad you are ok..guess your gardens are getting a good drink and your pool is being topped up.

LOL Mary I know that feeling all too well. How many times have I mentioned something is going to well and then *bang* out of nowhere something goes wrong? Too many to remember the count! Glad you checked in though, we know you are safe.

Chuckling at your MILs stories. My first MIL was an angel, I think I married her son to get her as my mam. Leaving her son wasn't hard but leaving her sure was. I miss her to this day. Now Santa Warren's DM was another story. She was a straight out and out ---ch and it rhymes with witch.One day not too long after meeting my babe MIL said me "I thought I got my little boy back and then YOU came along". W moved in with her briefly when he first left his first wife. Guess she thought he would stay with her forever. She managed to set up every family event as a contest - who was going to get the most attention from W me or her. Just used to shake my head, once when I was really ticked I said to her he's not a possession he is a human being. She told everyone who would listen I was very rude to her.lol

Little sleep here last night Betty. We could have had tea.

For some reason today I am so hungry it isn't funny. I could eat out the fridge if there was something in it to eat!

Not trying to one up anyone but my MIL gets 1st prize..

Roger was 22 when we were married, I 17 so she would arrange all the functions to be held in hotels where no minors were allowed..of course Roger would have to be the driver so had to go, guess who stayed home A FEW TIMES!

Then at Christmas, everyone would get a pressie, but somehow mine got misplaced

to this day she totally ignores me but if I'm invited I made a point of going up to her and saying how nice it is to see her and will chat on and on (you know me and my chit/chat) she has to answer because her kids are around..it's only been last 2 years or so that I do not go all out trying to impress her/gain favor for her birthday/mothers day..christmas I'd feel too badly if I didn't get her something but no more, she is just a bitter old lady and I'll not let my frame of mind be based on her mood.

Dianne your refrigerator sounds like mine. Thank goodness I bought a lot more when the sistah's visited and we didn't use so it doesn't make me look as though I should be on the street begging for food lol

howdy from wet windy Prairieville. We lost power at 1AM...waited til today to crank up the generators. DH hooked up the important stuff....Fridge, freezer, phone and of course the wifi for laptops....the eye of isaac just came ashore about 60 miles south of us....talk about trying to herd a turtle....this buddy just isn't moving...check in with y'all later, just wanted to say hello.

Betty, I can always find things to do on rainy days. Working on some Dresden plates, making beef and noodles for Kim's dinner and just enjoying the sound of a normal rain and no winds or thunder.

Storm should all but be over by tomorrow right? Some newscaster said south Ontario could get some inclement weather due to Isaac..seems awfully north for that to happen!

If there is a divorce in the family...MIL goes through and cuts out that persons photo in ALL the family pictures like they never existed!!! My niece finally at the age of said "Grandma...that is my MOM, how could you...if she didn't exist I wouldn't exist!!!"

The best was when DH and I were dating....I had two little girls (2 & 4) from my first marriage. MIL said (not knowing I was behind her) "I wanted so much more for Paul than someone elses baggage" Well, a few months later I found out she had been married BEFORE....had a child....and she was pregnant with DH when she married his father. BUT...she won't miss a Sunday in church. Guess she needs to beg forgiveness!!!

Betty, the storm will last two more days in that area it is moving so slow...that is the concern. And it is just now on landfall in many areas.

Hoping so Betty...the eye just came ashore took it 18 hours to do that. Forecasters were saying we would have rain at least through Friday....and unless he spills all his rain, I would not be surprised if some bands of rain make it up to you...when you are nearly 600 miles wide you can cover a lot of territory....grin

Well Debbie, think they are twins..lol what terrible things to think let alone SAY!!! I'd not be wanting to go to the reunion but know how much the nieces/nephews love seeing you and you they..hope it's a big property and you can stay in a totally opposite corner of the yard.

I am making my spaghetti salad with the veggies and Italian dressing in it. And Ronnie Jade wants me to make pretty pink cotton candy princess cupcakes, but think I might order them as MIL tells me there will be at least 90 or more people there! There is supposed to be "immediate" family, but she went and invited a bunch of "friends" of the family. Just with DHs siblings and their spouses & kids...it is 49.

Paul isn't cooking this time that I know of....but I am sure will help man the grill if that is what they end up with meats/hamburgs/dogs. Haven't heard that side.

Will be a quiet long weekend, Jeff's kids just arriving from camp on Sunday, Greg and Mel going up the lakes, Noah coming home Sunday and Kyle well he's looking at going to provincial part if there is room for Sat. night and Sunday..might even lake grandma's camper..would be nice if someone used it.

Most I'll do over 4 days is possible a Meaford trip but as with the norm, things do change, who knows what may come up!

Betty, it is so easy and so healthy! 1 lb of spaghetti cooked and cooled (or pasta of choice) Cucumber diced, tomatoes diced, green pepper diced. ADD a couple tablespoons of McCormick s Salad Sensations and a bottle of Italian Salad Dressing/oil. I also add diced pepperoni & shredded cheese. Chill it in fridge and it is so so good.

Yikes, mall security just came with a letter from management given us the what for, everyone is getting one..seems we all set and listened to the alarm, we should have immediately locked our doors and straight outside we should have gone...oh/oh

Here's hoping that a slow moving hurricane means it's dispersed and thin, so not causing much damage, "just" winds! Coming all the way to Canada sounds like a huge storm, indeed!! Keep safe please - a little time without power isn't a life threatening thing, unless it's emergency locations and they will have generators, right?

My first MIL was rude when we first met, and my fiance told them both off. We didn't have anything more to do with them (lived in Toronto, and we in Winnipeg). When our daughter was born (2 1/2 YEARS after we wed, contrary to her pointed question as to why we were getting married within months.....) they sent a baby carriage. I think it was only because convention dictated they should send a pressie for their first grandchild. They never met either of their grandkids in our family, and our kids didn't miss them.
