One last throw for Sailor..
Needless to say my heart is broken
Best/Worse/What did I learn today? Chat with friends..
Especially love that last picture, Betty. Will always remember what a loving pup she was. Bet Dad is pitching to her right now!
I so glad everything went well Joyce. Your Dad was loved by a lot of people and that is a wonderful testimony to him....
Oh Judy, I'm so sorry about not returning your call the other night. All heck broke loose here for a while with strange animals in the yard fighting. It took several times of turning on the hose on them to finally get them to go somewhere else!!!! I have no idea who they belong to - there were two dogs and three cats all going at it together!!!!!
The Huber house looks stunning and all your hard work shows what a great job you did on it. You should open your own landscaping design business!!! You truly have an eye for it.
I love your little house and the pciture hanging is just adorable. You surely have been busy. You must be happy to finally get your home back to where you can control it again. I'm happy for both you and Steve....
I've been busy with making blocks for the fire victims quits and then a baby quilt and some table toppers. Keeps me out of trouble.
First is baby quilt - needs a good pressing.
First table topper for my cousin - Halloween. Second is WIP for Fall.
I still want to do Thankgiving and Christmas.
Oh Betty---- both Norm and I are sitting here with tears for you my dear. We got to know her for a short time and she was so lovable to us. We are truly sorry that this came to be but we also know how she made your life so full. I sometimes think our furry companions are the best there are....Blessings and prayers my friend.....
A place for Sailor to be remembered by all...with love and deep sympathy for you Betty Dear.

Sitting here with tears streaming also. Loved that sweet girl, she was my bedroom partner while we stayed with Betty.
You did the right thing, making it easier for her...she was starting to struggle.
She is such a beautiful girl.....and I like the thought of her playing ball with Joyce's dear dad!
These were my two favorite pictures when up there.
Hugs,
Debbie
Head pounding like crazy..just took more excedrin! Miisy is laying on porch chesterfield, I'm sure she knows something is amiss..
Thanks for kind words and love the photo's
Amazing when I found myself alone she was my lifeline..always waiting at the door almost as if to ask how my day went..will be lonely for sure
Oh BARB/Debbie photo's are precious as was sailor
Need some air
(((((((((((((((((((Betty)))))))))))))) I remember all too well, you did make the right decision as difficult as it is, she was having a hard time with it. Y'all the pics are sooooo precious!!
I am going to love my little apartment until I get my house back!
Betty, I so understand the life line part about Sailor. As sad as it is, and it is truly sad to loose a family member, I am happy you realized her life was getting difficult. Oh how I wish my sister would learn that. She has keep some of her cats alive way longer than she should have and their quality of life was horrible. Funny how our other pets always sense changes.
Fighting the meds, just can't relax enough to sleep so up I am, maybe if I get active doing something it will help..
Just put sprinkler on, everything so dry..almost lost all my planters..
Here is hoping no major damage will hit your region.
Crissy, hugs coming your way, I'm so glad to hear the battle is on so you can get your house back with minimal funds directed at not so DH..sometimes though it's peace of mind just walking away from battling and starting new..
Marion, know you've been concerned about all the cats your sister has..they are her life but well being of these family pets must come first..feeling badly about that right now but know its a must.
You are so right....they are her life but .......
I am truly sadden about your baby......I wasn't lucky enough to get to meet her.
she was a gentle girl..Ann just dropped off, we shared a cooler!
Muggy out there..boy plants shrubs do need watering. Will be moving sprinkler all evening as tomorrow will be just as hot.
On my spring planting list will be carpet roses..not great with roses but they said no care and thousands od blooms..bought 2 but will purchase a lot more..sure gives color in the fall.
Has your rain started yet Marion?
We aren't expecting the rains to get to us until early Monday but that could change any time. Kim and I did see tree crews from out of town areas arriving and making the Lowe's parking lot their base. Just heard on news more crews will be arriving tomorrow ahead of the storm. Humm, not sure if that is a good or bad sign. Go home Jim Cantore!!
Betty, I have carpet roses along my lower deck. They are every thing you posted and more!!!! I have the original "brown thumb" where roses are concerned but the carpet and Knockout I seem to be able to grow. You will love them. I have an apricot color and pinkish/apricot.
Best be safe than sorry. Do you have generator to run at least the lights?
Think mine are called scarlet..they bloom later than the white that bloom early spring, then the apricot then these..great ahoy for the dollar. Kicking mysel for not buying a bunch at end of season when they were $4! That will teach me.
Watched the video they sent along with this quilting frame..early this morning I finishes the back with leftover strips from the front..checked and did have batting, opened the box awhile ago but think I'll wait until morning before doing step 1
((HUGS)) Betty and Sailor.... I'm still looking for my little pet saying to send to you ... Sailor is happy and playing ball with Joyce's Dad and Roger.... ((HUGS)) I know how hard it is... they are our family....
Last night Sailor.s heavy breathing kept me awake, tonight the quietness is doing the same
Mary, hope you don't mind if I post your email, it has such words of wisdom..
A Dog's Purpose (from a 6-year old).
Being a veterinarian, I had been called to examine a ten-year-old Irish Wolf hound named Belker. The dog's owners, Ron, his wife Lisa, and their little boy Shane, were all very attached to Belker, and they were hoping for a miracle.
I examined Belker and found he was dying of cancer. I told the family we couldn't do anything for Belker, and offered to perform the euthanasia procedure for the old dog in their home.
As we made arrangements, Ron and Lisa told me they thought it would be good for six-year-old Shane to observe the procedure. They felt as though Shane might learn something from the experience.
The next day, I felt the familiar catch in my throat as Belker's family surrounded him. Shane seemed so calm, petting the old dog for the last time, that I wondered if he understood what wa s going on. Within a few minutes, Belker slipped peacefully away.
The little boy seemed to accept Belker's transition without any difficulty or confusion. We sat together for a while after Belker's Death, wondering aloud about the sad fact that animal lives are shorter than human lives. Shane, who had been listening quietly, piped up, 'I know why.' Startled, we all turned to him. What came out of his mouth next stunned me. I'd never heard a more comforting explanation.
He said, 'People are born so that they can learn how to live a good Life -- like loving everybody all the time and being nice, right?' The Six-year-old continued, 'Well, dogs already know how to do that, so they don't have to stay as long.'
Live simply.
Love generously.
Care deeply.
Speak kindly.
Remember, if a dog was the teacher you would learn things like:
When loved ones come home, always run to greet them.
Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joyride.
Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face to be pure Ecstasy..
Take naps.
Stretch before rising.
Run, romp, and play daily.
Thrive on attention and let people touch you.
Avoid biting when a simple growl will do.
On warm days, stop to lie on your back on the grass.
On hot days, drink lots of water and lie under a shady tree.
When you're happy, dance around and wag your entire body.
Delight in the simple joy of a long walk.
Be loyal.
Never pretend to be something you're not.
If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it.
When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by, and nuzzle them gently.
ENJOY EVERY MOMENT OF EVERY DAY

This helped me so much Betty when we had to put Opey and Indy down..... Can you edit and delete our phone #'s?
I hope it helped you as well.... ((HUGS)) so hard to lose a family member....
I hope Missy and Riley are able to help you through this....
((HUGS))
Mary
sorry Mary, copied, said all, thought it meant your last post.
You are up late tonight..hope it's because you were out enjoying yourself and not because you have a worried mind.
Liz and Kenny called me tonight, didn't think I'd laugh today but Steve, the character he is had me in stitches..was nice. Liz says she is well and returning to work shortly..so proud of her for following doctors orders..
((((Betty)))) I so know how you feel. I am sitting here with tears streaming down my face - too much loss for those I care for in such a short time. Loved all the pics of Sailor . With her name, after I met Norm I always pictured them together out on a boat waving back to Betty and Barb on shore. Funny how little things make you see something in your mind. Sailor has taken that boat right over the bridge Betty and Stormy is there waiting to play with her. She is at peace now and out of pain. Doesn't help the pain and ache in your heart Betty but please know I so understand how you are feeling.
Dianne
Good afternoon..
Kyle and his friend just left, went jeep'ing with them, no roof, no doors just me and th 2 boys..
I had been to town earlier and bought a new lawn mower, self propelled, Melanie
Thank you Dianne, more difficult then I thought. I've taken meds for headache a few times so I'm numb..everyone kept me busy today so that helped. Can't even fathom how you have coped with so many loses..sending hugs.
this morning said the one Greg was giving me the self propel didn't work, Kyle just said Greg fixed it..oh well not waiting for one any longer..also bought what looks like a lawnmower, sucks up leaves and twigs..Kyle and Nathan put all together so now I'm in business
Pat came and we put the quilting frame together..tried quilting, works like a charm..now I need a piece of mdf. 28" by 8' and I'll be set to quilt in an easy as 1-2-3 method..doubt it's wasted $$$. Can be used for hand quilting as well with ought the large wood frame, Sharon my sister will likely order one as well.
So now I've these new machines I should get out and cut grass as they are calling for rain tomorrow or could go into town for the wood so I can finish the test quilt We'll see!
I'm sure all are together watching over us..
Love the photo' s Joyce.
Joyce, will you be trying for the Friday or Saturday arrival in Frankenmuth?? Want to book hotel shortly
Sounds like you enjoyed the jeep ride Betty, now you have new toys to play with, the quilt frame, and lawnmower!
Think everyone was taking shifts to keep me busy! It's appreciated..
Omg can't believe the difference between push and self propelled..took about 1/2 the time.
Muggy out so will take a cool bath, something to eat and this weekend will be over.
Kyle is a good little driver, think he enjoyed riding me around.
Keep looking for the neighbor across the street that I gave gazebo and storage shed, air conditioner to try and rid myself of my old lawnmower..works great if you have the strength to pull the cord out rather than short pulls. He usually tells me to not get rid of anything until he has a look.
Wish restaurant next door was open Sunday..should have picked up Kentucky when I went out the 2nd time for quilt tweaking piece.
How is the storm in your area Lindakay, getting any signs of it..bet Jean, Mary and Marion are..hope they keep safe
Most of Fla is getting the storm rains today and into the night. Isaac has taken a decided western turn...seems he may not go ashore anywhere in FLA, but will venture more westerly towards New Orleans....7 years ago this week we were watching Katrina and thinking she wasn't going to be a problem. This time folks are being better prepared.
Betty, it has been 8 months since my sweet Chester dog died....sometimes I still reach for his bowl at feeding time. I miss him, but I do not ever want to forget him. Please know we all are grieving with and for you as each of us has lost a friend and companion. Talking about them is a very good thing.
Good thoughts to the Fla and Gulf coast friends...stay dry.
Jean
Oh Betty it hasn't moved as far as LK but Mary might see some of the weather. I am not sure who else is in the LA area. Last report still says we will get some effects of it here and still very uncertain of where the center will actually go. Guess only Mother Nature knows that answer.
Aren't self propelled the best.....well would be if I can get mine back home.
Love the pictures of your new quilting gadget you posted in the quilting thread. Just might need to look into one of those.
Jean, rains haven't started here yet. Predicted for tomorrow and we are still getting announcements we aren't in the clear yet. Who know.
You stay safe, dry and take care.
The Weather Channel was saying that tornadoes were a real possibility for a lot of Florida because you all are on the east side of the storm.
Hope all is well and good for you,Marion. as we have both said before...ya live here long enough ya know what to do...grin.
Jean
Gentle Hugs Betty.... SO glad they are keeping you busy ! Don't over do....
Yes thought I'd call sis and dad since Isaac was headed their way...now it looks like it's headed more towards Jean and I... I've heard a lot of media comparisions to Gustav and Katrina....
Similar to Katrina... it was about this same exact time of year and we were considering heading to Florida.
I'll look for Jean to fill in any other similarities or maybe the media is just hyping it up... they love these things that drive ratings up.... unfortunately.
Lance & I will play it "By ear" .... but we had planned to head to drop off the Model A Engine to a guy who lives near my Dad (coincidentally) and visit with Dad a bit....
Betty can just see you riding around in that jeep ! Kyle is thrilled I bet ...
(HUGS)
Mary
Well I for one worry about you all...think I'd be to overwhelmed to go to sleep..ohhh sure am glad that my visit to New Orleans happened at the right time..can you imagine had it been this week? Maybe I wouldn't have gotten into trouble.
Kyle and his friend were looking at my trip photo, young lad said it looked liked I had mega fun, Kyle didn't say too much..if I keep up my antics soon the boys will take away my keys. Lol
Jean I painted a picture of Sailor a few years ago, glad I did, will remind me of my dearest friend. You sure second guess if it was the right decision, but all who came today said how they saw her failing this past month. Made me feel a little better but not much.
Didn't sleep much last night, maybe a hot bath and early bedtime would fit the bill..wish I was home tomorrow. Maybe I'll keep vigils with you all.
The best description of comparisons of hurricanes..."they are all about the same....until they aren't"....meaning you can speak in generalities about the storms, but each is truly unique.
Mary, think you had best stay put..you can always deliver it another week especially as Isaac is so unpredictable. Meant to ask you and Jean, it wasn't the French quarter that got hit by Katrina right, more the proper city?? Would be absolutely tragic if it hit New Orleans again..shaking my head here! Please Lord let it not be so
We are suppose to get a bit of rain tomorrow but chances are slim, yet legs are throbbing, usually a sign of dampness.
Mom called tonight, she and Jim might go to Florida for 3 weeks a Christmas, asked me to look up hotels for her..did not mention Sailor..she always says she doesn't want bad news when it comes to furries.
Big yawn
The French Quarter was also "hit", but it is built on the highest ground in the city. The buildings are solid and all mostly have storm shutters. It was the lower lying eastern end of the city and the area beyond the CBD that got so much water...near the super Dome and out from the center. Charity Hospital is just west of the quarter, Canal Street and Tulane Ave. That is where so many Patients/doctors/staff were trapped. Canal Street ha a couple/ 3 feet of water standing.
Interesting story to add Jean... Lance's uncle was at the hospital, when they air lifted him out to go to Houston, the daughter (Lance's cousin) was left behind and had to endure the horrors of being at the Convention Center. She told us they would not leave to use the toilets for fear they would be raped. Luckily she used her military badge to get out early and ended up recuperating at MIL's house.
She had been at the Pentagon during 911 too. I told her she should write a book.
(HUGS)
Mary
((((((((Betty))))))))))) I know a bit of how you feel, wish I'd met Sailor......
Jean - that link you posted re: Rainbow bridge had me all teary-eyed..........
Back from camping - was too short, and therefore too rushed........ they have gangs of construction workers there from mid-summer until end of Nov., so it's noisy every night with them "letting loose"
We want to go camping again this year, but it may not be at Pincher Creek.......... too crowded and noisy.......
Little sleep tonight..am hoping storm is not raging in your neck of the woods and you are all safely tucked in and sound asleep.
Susan you should have gotten yourself up and joined in the fun! Lol. Not likely right?know spots at parks here are hard to book..so limited as to numbers wanting to camp.
Jeff and Julie were biking the trails of Niagara on the lake this past weekend, couldn't have had a nicer weekend for it..Greg was at a golf tournament all weekend..guess all are trying to get in the last of summer fun.
My 2nd cowboy movie tonight, been ages since I've watched ythem..Roger would be proud of me lol. How he loved his cowboys
Sending you warm hugs to start your day Betty. Can't think of a better way. I am so impressed with your new quilting frame. I'm going to look into it too.....
My nephew and his wife are on the Mississippi/Louisiana border and I see Issac's track is heading right for them. Please keep them in your prayers. Thanks.....
